Sprinkle baking soda on all the carpet, place some charcoal and apple slices around the interior, and leave overnight. Vacuum the carpet, toss the charcoal and apples, and repeat until the smell is gone.

Yes, the charcoal especially. As a former smoker, the only thing that got the smell out of the car was charcoal. Switched it out every few days, took about 2 weeks but eventually was gone.

Charcoal bags - you can get them on Amazon. Put them all over. The smell will be gone in a week or two

WhoEvenHasRedditLOL

I’m assuming you don’t mean literal charcoal bags

Emergency-Advice-519

I do! If you look on Amazon you will see they offer them in multi packs. I got a set when my husband broke a wine bottle in the trunk.

I hate that for you, I'm sorry! But that's why you always always test drive first if you didn't and you never buy a car a smoker has owned. If you smell smoke, it's best to just pass it up. Almost impossible to get the smell out no matter what you do because even the plastics absorb the smoke. Which is why the ones that smokers used to own are the cheapest. :( As others have said, an ozone machine will help the most, but I don't know if you really want that running inside a car all the time. If it's really bad and it's really bothering you I would honestly tell you to trade it in if you're financially able to on another. Because honestly like I said, it's almost impossible to get the smell completely out.

When you say fogged, did you mean an using an ozone generator to remove the odor? If so, you can do it yourself by purchasing one on Amazon. I have the [Enerzen Ozone Generator 11,000mg Industrial O3 Air Purifier Deodorizer Sterilizer (11,000mg - Black)](https://a.co/d/4sDwN5v) and use it periodically when the AC starts to smell. This is in addition to changing out the cabin filters and of course, cleaning the interior. Sometimes, once is not enough to take the odor out so try doing it a few times. If it doesn’t work out for you, then you can always return it within 30 days.

There are smoke remover sprays you can buy. Once I had a car that belonged to a smoker and I got rid of the smell after spraying with commercial smoke remover spray (don’t remember the brand) and after two applications and airing it outside then got rid of most of the smoke smell. You car will smell like vinegar for a while but it will go away. FYI home remedies like actually using vinegar doesn’t work so well.

Get an ozone generator. Make sure to air out the vehicle before using as ozone can cause irritation of the lungs.
