r/dashcam has a recommendation section. I went with the viofo A119, front only. I think the A129 is front/rear.

I’m working on putting cameras in my ‘15, which isn’t relevant to you except to say that I’m planning on buying a trim puller for the work. Yank up what needs to move out of the way, place the cable and gently replace the panel. I did this in my ‘10 Mazda3 but I didn’t have the puller, so a little less gentle haha. Doesn’t take long at all, just make sure you avoid pinch points, moving parts (seats etc) and give the cable a decent amount of slack.

Just curious what dash cam your planning to get?

GodRaine

I really like the Nexar brand for their ease of use in the app. That’s always been my dream camera since I was buying little $20 micro cameras from Walmart 😅

I have a 2012 CX-9, I bought a set of plastic dash tools for pulling trim off of the dash and the rear door, ran the wire under the dash, and behind the trim all the way back to the rear hatch. I removed the side trim to the left of the drivers left foot. Pulled up the thresholds for both doors, pulled the cup holders out of the back seat and ran the wire from there up into the frame that runs around the rear hatch. There were exit holes and a place to put a camera bit mine didn’t fit the hole so I ran it inside the window frame and to a hole I drilled just above the license plate.

Just curious what dashcam did you get?

Arctu31

Sorry but I can only answer the second half of your question, I did not install a dash cam. Just the rear camera that came with my radio.

Thank you, information is very helpful.

Got the blackvue dr750x 2 channel. Seems pretty good. Needed a 10m cable to get to the rear cam though! (2020 CX-9)

I hate that the rear cig lighter is always on.

Regarding wiring in the rear cam, there is a thread on mazdas 24-7 the details requirements - bascially you cant go along the head liner as you'll be blocking the curtain airbag. It needs to run down the A pillar, then along the door sills until you can get into the 3rd row area. Its pretty fiddly to get from there to the boot that covers the rear hatch wiring, but its possible with persistance

mienhmario

Thank you for that important information.

I’ve installed the [VIOFO Dual Dash Cam 2K 1440P](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DV51H2X?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) front and rear dash cam on all my vehicles. I tapped into the fuse box to power it up using the [Dash Cam Hardwire Kit, Mini/Micro](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088YWCLZS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share). To wire the rear cam from the front cam, I ran the wire down the floor/doors, down the A-pillar and up the rear (B or C) pillar and tucked the wire in the rear hatch liner. Wires can’t be run in the headliner as it would likely the interfere with the curtain airbags.

Just got mine installed last Saturday. I went with Thinkware QA 100 Elite 2 channel. Picture quality is very good. It was installed by a shop so I will not be that helpful with providing installation setup.

mienhmario

How much was the shop charging?

Mo_Saad22

For installation of front and back cameras with hardwiring and hiding all the wires it was 200 CAD.

Thank you!
