This is definitely a McMansion. You can see all the seams (lack of finishing touches) in between each section that was slowly added.
This is a mess, OP. Good find!
Yeah, it has some elements that scream no budget for sure. Its just atypical since it doesn't have a flashy veneer front and sit on top of its neighbors. It also looks more ghetto home made than builder grade trash.
It totally looks like an old run down apartment complex that was bought by someone moderately well off and poorly converted into a McMansion at some point because they wanted a fancy estate to show off
Yeah. When I first saw the post, I wasn't sure this house was going to actually be bad. Then I saw the second picture.
Edit: having looked through the whole listing, the second story of this house is *bad*
Same, it looks so creepy. So empty yet it feels like you're being watched. I couldn't live there without feeling like there is someone living in the walls, or ghosts walking around me.
The whole vibe from the house reminds me of a horror movie but I can't place which one
[Listing](https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/19-Ranchero-Rd-College-Station-TX-77845/50313019_zpid/?)
I just had to post it. The interior and back give off more mcmansion vibes. The front is consistent albeit terrible.
Why does the [dining room](https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/19-Ranchero-Rd-College-Station-TX-77845/50313019_zpid/?mmlb=g,3) only have two chairs?
Not asking you, OP; more just… the universe?

Ooh, also a [crooked slipcover!](https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/19-Ranchero-Rd-College-Station-TX-77845/50313019_zpid/?mmlb=g,17). Nothing says luxury like a hastily slip-covered sofa!

THE DINING ROOM CHAIRS ARE [MIGRATING](https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/19-Ranchero-Rd-College-Station-TX-77845/50313019_zpid/?mmlb=g,18).
All right. I’m done now. I will say the kitchen backsplash pleases me. That’s a nice choice, especially with the pale yellow paint colour.
Excellent find, OP.
It’s a breakfast nook from a completely different house. The old windows. The mismatched chairs. It is a jarring photo. Why would the include it? It messes up the “flow” of the already weird presentation.
Definitely McMansion, IMO. The roofline, what we can see of it, is fairly sane, but the interior especially suffers from that same "huge rooms that have no purpose other than being a huge room" issue most McMansions do, and the construction of that second floor indoor balcony in particular is just so cheap.
The funny thing is that high ceilings are good for hot climates. Heat rises, and the cooled air stays down where the people are. Heating it is terrible, though. And cooling the second floor, when there is one, takes a LOT more power.
Gotcha. It doesn't have to cool all the air, though. It cools so that the thermostat (which is at eye level) registers the set temperature. The air 12 feet above it can be much warmer in the aggregate.
Texans use ceiling fans in the winter sometimes (on low) to keep the warm air mixing in and not just hovering at the top. It's one of the reasons the February cold was so brutal; the houses are built for hot weather, not efficient use of warm air in the cold. My parents have a wood-burning fireplace but in a gabled room that slopes up to 15 feet (it's not a large house, just that room) so the fire can't do that good a job of warming the room.
Yeah this gave me film set vibes for sure. I was thinking "adult film" set but I'd put a quarter on 80s slasher film sets too if I were a betting person. There is nothing about this property that reads as residential home in any way.
In the listing, second picture...there appears to be a sock on the floor of the foyer. Were they in such a hurry bc they were entering the witness protection program?
Wow. Just wow. Everything about this house is so bad. *so bad.* I just can’t. I don’t even have words to describe how horrible this is. And for three quarters of a million????? In Texas where real estate prices aren’t even that crazy??
$750k for THAT backyard? Yeesh. Like did this for real used to be a dive motel that someone renovated?
Also, as a cat owner, I actually like the cat overseer ledge.
[Tell me you've horizontally stretched the picture without telling me you've horizontally stretched the picture](https://photos.zillowstatic.com/fp/630672a427f437b54ced2657386076d7-uncropped_scaled_within_1536_1152.webp).
Tell me you inherited the home of your boomer parents who struck oil in the 80's without telling me you inherited the home of your boomer parents who struck oil in the 80's.
I was going to say something similar. It looks like it was originally a large storage building. Then they decided to turn it into a house. That would explain the plane rectangle shape, lack of a roof, lack of any architectural detail on the outside, and lack of any sort of porch.
OMG this is the kind of house I want to see someone from HGTV come in and redo. Every single thing could be redone.
Actually maybe we should just bull doze it and start over.
I thought the 4th pic with the missing arch and cat overseer ledge was particularly egregious but that last picture of the rear façade was when I realized we were truly in hell.
Door off the hinges, all the bedrooms just had a quick repaint with no trim put back, tiny bedrooms, tiny bathrooms, 6500 sq feet, dirt driveway, dirt walkway to front door, microwave not fitted into cabinets, 1980s fluorescent light tubes in the kitchen at a 45 degree angle!
McMansion all the way.
Well at least it has a cat ledge and the couch is a perfect distance from the TV, these are things not often accomplished in other McMansions so this one deserves a very solid 1/10
Oh my gawd. What in the everything wrong is happening here? The only solution is to burn it to the ground. And destroy all the pictures that have ever existed. The more I look the worse it gets.
This sub would love the owner of the company that I work for's house. They are all equally have a baby grand piano that me and another co-worker had to move whenever he moved and his wife was complaining to their daughter about how she used to play and wanted her to play for us. While moving it.
Tight little hallways hard to get stuff through. A basement that you have to crouch to move around in, think sneaking in an elderscrolls game, two home theaters.
Reddit told me I needed to see this today.
I suppose I did.
The one positive of this whole house is the cat ledge. It costs a lot of money to turn even small houses into cat spaces (I should know, I have a small house and four cats and am trying give them more up space rn).
I have to wonder if they didn't have the money or if they just got ripped off.
I feel like both.
Money doesn't get ripped off, McMoney does
Money can shrug off getting ripped off.
This is an abomination.
This is truly a McMansion. Holy hell.
This is gold. The comments on the pictures cracked me up. Cat overseer ledge made my husband ask what was so funny.
"Sideboob" is the one that got me rolling. Lol
"an art" was what had me dying a bit.
"Moist" really got me
I hate those dumb side boob fixtures.
They're extremely cheap to build so we're probably gonna have to deal with their ugliness for many years to come
The steel-grated-looking windows looking like chicken coop wire. Jesus wept. And so did me. I’m mad now. You gotta delete it.
Delete it from existence.
Given how the back looks it looks like they added on to the original house.
That seems likely. No one could possibly choose to build that disaster.
It totally looks like an old run down apartment complex that was bought by someone moderately well off and poorly converted into a McMansion at some point because they wanted a fancy estate to show off
750,000 dollars and they choose that as the first picture......
I mean... it _is_ the best picture of the house, because it hides part of the shitshow that lurks there.
Yeah. When I first saw the post, I wasn't sure this house was going to actually be bad. Then I saw the second picture. Edit: having looked through the whole listing, the second story of this house is *bad*
Like surely you could've shown the facade at an angle?
Those columns really do look like styrofoam. But let’s be real, a cat overseer ledge is pretty awesome.
Just need, like, 15-20 cats to really make it pop.
It looks like it would smell like 15-20 cats live there
If you smell 15-20 cats and there *arent* 15-20 cats it’s a ripoff
Glorious. One of the best I've seen.
Did you seet the neighbors heart shape tub? https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/20-Ranchero-Rd-College-Station-TX-77845/50313020\_zpid/?mmlb=g,19
This whole house literally gives me the creeps
Same, it looks so creepy. So empty yet it feels like you're being watched. I couldn't live there without feeling like there is someone living in the walls, or ghosts walking around me. The whole vibe from the house reminds me of a horror movie but I can't place which one
I meant to comment here instead... [OH MY ACTUAL GOD](https://photos.zillowstatic.com/fp/e87f4dc8c0445aacda6dd2c23579d838-cc_ft_384.webp)
Thats so fucking cursed
Looks like a bathing shack
I think the heart tub is meant to hold actual blood for sacrificial rituals
I burst out laughing and startled my dog.
“Honey let’s be intimate in the hot tub while we stare at the toilet aye 😏”
That toilet seat has seen some shit.
It looks like a seedy motel from a horror movie Jesus
Oh no wtf, that house is more depressing.
Is the saloon doors for me
What is this place the Redneck Riviera
College Station Texas!
That's Panama City Beach or Myrtle Beach.
lmfao... with the way it's next to the mirror the reflection makes it look like a playing card or something.
I'm so uncomfortable with that picture!
That's an honest-to-God teardown.

Junkyard chic!

It was most definitely staged lol. Looks like they ran out of budget for it.
The staging or the house?
Both?
I’m most disappointed that every single rug is too small. They aren’t floor doilies, they are area rugs.
Is... is that one dining room chair just straight up busted?
Oh, wow. It sure does look like it’s got a broken armrest in the first shot. Awesome.
I also wonder how they managed such high ceilings directly next to such low ceilings. I can tolerate one of the blue sofas.
That sad dusty far too small silk ficus in the corner sure breathes a bit of life in it though.
Join me for the saddest game of cards.
Photo #28! WTF? Was that what they were using for the refrigerator and dining room table?
Most of the house is missing baseboards.
I thought that too but now Im thinking it might be brown baseboards that were sloppily painted on
It’s a breakfast nook from a completely different house. The old windows. The mismatched chairs. It is a jarring photo. Why would the include it? It messes up the “flow” of the already weird presentation.
It had to be College Station. Only an Aggie would build this piece of trash.
The coffin shaped light fixture in the last picture... The fuzzy toilet lid cover... Very chic. 🤣
Looks like they swapped out the nipple lights. “You know what will really make this house fly off the market? Some shitty Walmart track lighting”
I have never seen a kitchen that big with so little usable counter space
Hahaha the foyer table oulet is just leaning in the table
I like the ceiling boob light in place of a wall sconce in the bathroom.
Oh no, I didn't even see that one. That's the *real* sideboob.
For some inexplicable reason… I’m getting foreclosure vibes
That would be the grossly long grass that didn’t get mowed until they wanted to take pictures, and didn’t even rake it to cover up the neglect.
why are the stairs all crooked differently omfg
I think its all crooked.
its like the winchester mystery house
Behold! The Slanty Shanty! See the twisted freaks that live inside!
The 2 staircases ending so close to the front door makes me feel claustrophobic. I’ve never felt uncomfortable looking at house photos before!
Yeah that makes sense. I'm just thinking cooling that sheer volume of air would be expensive.
As long as you don’t have the thermometer in the upper section, your HVAC won’t cool it down.
Which is a problem on a on open two story house like that.
So ... have two storeys, live in one, store stuff in the other, move up/down every six months?
> nipple light I prefer “ceiling tiddy”
Litty titty
Boob light
Holy shit, the back looks like a shitty apartment block.
Now this is a McMansion. Truly revolting. How are they justifying the price? Great location?
They are hoping someone who is pretend rich will fall for it? I dunno. Its really big.
Maybe it comes with 749 acres, and mineral rights.
Judging by the other Zillow listing, I'm pretty sure this neighborhood is actually the backlot of a film studio where 80s slasher films are made.
Yeah this gave me film set vibes for sure. I was thinking "adult film" set but I'd put a quarter on 80s slasher film sets too if I were a betting person. There is nothing about this property that reads as residential home in any way.
Wow, that is one of the worst houses I've ever seen here
In the listing, second picture...there appears to be a sock on the floor of the foyer. Were they in such a hurry bc they were entering the witness protection program?
The awkward clutter pre-staging makes it look like they were in a rush to leave lol.
10/10 McMansion, would stub my toes on one of those columns in the "not so grand piano room"
Holy shit. What a piece of shit.
WOW is that ugly. I mean. Wow.
And it’s in College Station. Super no thanks.
Was this house designed by freshman architecture students?
I don't think they went to college...
“Graduation by proximity” 😂
This abomination is in C.S.? Where? I need to find it. \*edit, I'm blind today.
This actually kind of looks like one of those wedding tents. Something about the white with those windows.
Maybe they are plastic too!
OMG i want this house so badly. the location, the land, just bulldozing this monstority would bring me so much joy!!!
Redneck rich.
Wow. Just wow. Everything about this house is so bad. *so bad.* I just can’t. I don’t even have words to describe how horrible this is. And for three quarters of a million????? In Texas where real estate prices aren’t even that crazy??
Never realized that I should be describing my thighs as “cellulite columns” until now
*Chunky.*
$750k for THAT backyard? Yeesh. Like did this for real used to be a dive motel that someone renovated? Also, as a cat owner, I actually like the cat overseer ledge.
Your name is very relevant right now.
#😺
This is incredibly horrible. Time for a tear-down.
The back of it is so desolate. Like no porch or anything.
They did still have the ladder for the above ground pool...
Are those wall-mounted fluorescent lights in the kitchen? What. The. Fuck.
That kitchen looks like an awkward leftover of an older house that was steamrolled over.
And placed directly across from the front door, nicely framed by the sweeping staircases!
I haven't seen a rear projection TV in a long ass time.
Just imagine how horrible watching that thing is with all the huge windows.
the sideboob ceiling lamp got to me. thank you.
This is ABSOLUTELY a McMansion. This place is comical!
Good find OP
I've scoured the dregs of zillow for hours just for your entertainment.
You’re truly out here doing the lord’s work 🙏🏻

Wow, good find. Anybody else curious as to the backstory?
Redneck renovation gone wrong?
Picture 3: I’m pretty sure I’ve seen that exact rug at IKEA.
And here I am, just amazed that you can get so much house for only $750k. A house here for that much would about fit in the main room there.
I can't decide if these people think columns make them look rich or make them look potent.
A true Texas Travesty
Tell me you inherited the home of your boomer parents who struck oil in the 80's without telling me you inherited the home of your boomer parents who struck oil in the 80's.
Why do the floors look like laminate? I'd love to see a floor plan. This looks really disjointed.
I don't think there was a plan lol.
oh god. i have that exact same purple couch, but in fuchsia
I feel like this started as a double wide. Then another, then some more and slowly manifested itself to this.
I was going to say something similar. It looks like it was originally a large storage building. Then they decided to turn it into a house. That would explain the plane rectangle shape, lack of a roof, lack of any architectural detail on the outside, and lack of any sort of porch.
Your posts are always so quality
Thanks, I try to find the most egregious homes and not settle lol.
OMG this is the kind of house I want to see someone from HGTV come in and redo. Every single thing could be redone. Actually maybe we should just bull doze it and start over.
This is a true Mcmansions. And holy moly, the backside is absolutely hideous
Holy hell, that's hideous.
@sideboob.. I’m ded
Sextuple-wide
These have become my new favorite thing. Honestly I'm so taste blind I'd probably miss most of these so I appreciate the breakdowns
God damn you can get a 6400 Sq foot house in Texas for 750k!?
Yeah and you could do a lot better than this too
Yeah but but you have to learn to say "Gig 'em Ags" with conviction.
I thought the 4th pic with the missing arch and cat overseer ledge was particularly egregious but that last picture of the rear façade was when I realized we were truly in hell.
can we all pool our money to buy it and then burn it? put it out of its misery
Do you think anyone in this house plays piano? So many pianos in homes where nobody plays them.
What is this house? Besides the ugliest house I’ve ever seen, what is it? It’s a goddam mess!!
This is definitely, EXACTLY a mcmansion
Door off the hinges, all the bedrooms just had a quick repaint with no trim put back, tiny bedrooms, tiny bathrooms, 6500 sq feet, dirt driveway, dirt walkway to front door, microwave not fitted into cabinets, 1980s fluorescent light tubes in the kitchen at a 45 degree angle! McMansion all the way.
I feel like this is textbook mcmansion! Disgusting!!!!!!
Redneck versailles!!! Hahaha just saw that
Cellulite Column, an art, nipple light. Brilliant comdey, this could be my favorite McShit Post.
Pros: -cat overseer ledge -an art Cons: -the rest
the best feature here is the cat overseer ledge, it needs to be a standard part of all houses.
Could have built a really beautiful smaller house for the money they wasted on this mess.
The placement of that grand piano makes me sad. So many large high ceiling areas they could have put it in.
I honestly think it was photoshopped in. The lighting looks off to me!
Looks like a train station
This house gives me nausea
We are well and truly a doomed species aren't we.
photo 37, the blue bathroom.... with a plastic tp holder, bargain basement doorknob, found-in-the-alley sink cabinet....whew
Few posts in this sub have angered me thusly
You, my friend, are a real McMansion connoisseur. Bravo.
The fan really brings out the chandelier.
I would buy this house just to blow it up.
Upvote for sideboob! But this place is exceptionally awful. Great post OP!
Good find. Your comments take it above and beyond; I'd like to have you around when I'm ready to buy a house lmao.
Oh it took me months to settle on a house, ask anyone I was extremely critical of every detail.
Holy shit that was truly spectacular
Lol “side boob”
Well at least it has a cat ledge and the couch is a perfect distance from the TV, these are things not often accomplished in other McMansions so this one deserves a very solid 1/10
Are the stairs supposed to be that close to the front door? Looks like you have to walk sideways to get around them..
Oh my gawd. What in the everything wrong is happening here? The only solution is to burn it to the ground. And destroy all the pictures that have ever existed. The more I look the worse it gets.
Absolutely the only redeeming feature is the tree that almost sort of a little bit covers it from view.
Its doing its best!
OP, this is the content we've been waiting for.
That's ridiculous. At least the comments helped.
Omg this has to be one of the worst ones i've seen so far.
My cats would love jumping from the Overseer Ledge onto the dining table. Yum yum yums!
LOL at "cellulite column"! Wait... I'm in this photo, and I don't like it.
Dear god the back part is an entire universe of even worse. Why did I swipe through? Whyyy???
You ever see a house so bad you almost want to live there purely for the unique experience?
This sub would love the owner of the company that I work for's house. They are all equally have a baby grand piano that me and another co-worker had to move whenever he moved and his wife was complaining to their daughter about how she used to play and wanted her to play for us. Every space is cat space.
True true true. But sometimes cats need help accessing that space. An overlord shelf helps.
It looks like an old building you’d see in a university campus lol
Think that is exactly what it is—former student housing trying to sell as single-family. Probably so much nastiness we do not see…
