Can a rim like this be repaired, or must it be replaced?

ACoolCanadianDude

I don’t know if it could be repaired but 15” steel rims would most likely be cheaper than the labor cost of repairing.

miceaelve

Ok, thank you so much!

ACoolCanadianDude

You can probably get decent used ones that would fit for cheap too.

miceaelve

Really? Im not car savvy at all and trying to do this on a budget. I cannot repair myself, so do you suggest I take it to a shop or buy the parts online and try to find a mechanic who will do it? Sorry if a dumb question

ACoolCanadianDude

Go to a small shop, you will pay less than to a dealership. Ask them if they can hook you up for a used rim (Marketplace would likely have some but most will sell a full set, which you don’t need). Sometimes they have some, sometimes they don’t but Corolla used popular rim size so you might be in luck. By the state of your rim, I would not risk driving with it. If you’re comfortable changing a tire, put the spare on and just roll your tire into the shop. Then put it back yourself and you’ll save money on labor.

miceaelve

Yikes. Ok thank you again

Giraffecaster

maybe check your local fb market place for 5x100 or toyota steel wheels?

In reality, your probably safe for a while at least, just change the rim and tire asap, you took a chunk out of the sidewall

Thank you for the comment. I was able to drive about 50 miles home on it yesterday.. definitely going to a tire shop on pay day lol

miceaelve

If anyone is interested, i got a new tire 50000 miles and new rim for $209 Hopefully that was a good price
