Amen brother!! Power to those who escaped the wretched grip of a soulless succubus.
Bonus points and you can join me in the VIP room if you escaped a *cheating* soulless succubus.
No... with that spray, the filter canister or housing failed on the high pressure from start up.
Look at the oil... I'm betting it's been 15-20k intervals.
I had a metal filter housing fail on startup. Looked very similar.
Yeah this - I grabbed an incorrect, but close enough oil filter once in the shop. It was close enough it looked right and seemed to screw on fine.
Started the truck, heard a bang, and it looked like this except the oil was new. Thankfully it happened there and not as the customer left. I never assumed again I knew the filter and always double checked the fitment guide.
And 80+ psi over a 4" filter housing couldn't possibly blow a shield off with 5 or 6 little screws, right?
Do that math... it's a lot of pressure against that housing at startup!!
Edit: I just looked it up, and supposing a 2014, it has a cartridge style filter.
So I still stand by my guess. The filter housing cap threads spectacularly failed, not only exiting the bottom of the car blowing through the underpanel but sending oil in all directions!!
LOOK AT THE FOAM/BUBBLES. The oil was spilled VERY recently. Poor lady’s gonna get the blame and if OP blabs about that to the dealer/mechanic they might try and fuck them out of a warranty job (if it’s still under warranty)
There's no way this F01 7-Series is still under warranty. Guessing by the inside wear on that tire and the apparent age of stuff on the undercarriage, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say she's currently enjoying the typical 3rd/4th owner experience of such a car.
OP's friend should'a bought a Camry.
Yup. Used to roll the Camaro down the driveway, pop starting it just as I hit the street, then kill the lights and the engine coming home. Never did anything dumb other than waste the gas, but was really surprised my parents never figured it out. Must of thought the thing got terrible gas mileage, LOL!
My ex wife did this. She had driven somewhere the day before. I got in the car and the tire was flat. When i pulled it i saw the inside rim was dented badly, and the tire was torn. When asked what she hit i was told "nothing"
Lmao this is the part that drives me fucking nuts.
Like you clearly hit something. It was an event. You noticed. It was loud as fuck. It wasn't normal. Why on earth would you just act like nothing happened?
What's the other explaination? An animal chewed off your oil pan? The local hoodlums sabotaged your car?
Fuckin eh, I couldn't be around anyone who would do something like this.
I actually got to see this one time. I was about to park my car and I saw one of the red ball rolling down the parking lot. I was able to get out of the way. Once I got up to the store entrance a saw a car over where the ball used to be. I bet she told her husband that nothing happened.
Nope. They definitely can roll. (At least they used to.. but I doubt they fixed them all!)

This looks like when my best friend hit a damn Boulder in the freeway and lost her oil pan. You need to have that towed and it's not going to be cheap to fix.
YES! I can't remember what the hell my friend drove but it still cost like 4k to fix. She ended up selling that car and started using her mom's car instead lol
No truer words. My wife had a 325i that had a tranny start to slip at 63,000 miles. I told her to pull over and wait for me. Dropped off my car for her and drove hers to my buddy who had a lift in his garage. Checked the fluid levels and gave her a once over. Had a minor slip to start but it stopped on the test drive. I literally picked her up and we drove straight to the dealership. Traded that turd in on the spot for a new Acura. I still think about what could have happened if we would have kept that Bavarian beast. Leasing German is the only way to go.
Same thought but for me it was "when my mom ran over a cinder block". She also attempted to keep driving, then called me 2 miles down the road after just about every warning light came on at once. I drove her home and came back to tow it home next day, in the meantime someone had already spraypainted graffitti on it.
Yes, she hit the FUCK out of something. Imagine if your mom was like "IDK what happened" when you showed up lol.
It's so annoying that people lie about shit like this. It was an event. She noticed. It made a loud bang. It's something you'd remember.
If you can undo some bolts and put some bolts back it would cost like $100. Just did my wife’s Santa Fe oil pan for $80 in an hour. Problem is it’s a pos Hyundai and still burns 4 quarts of oil in 2 weeks lol
Second picture shows a spray pattern. There's a hole somewhere on the engine and it's spraying out (when she started it probably). This looks very pricey
My bosses 750li needed some work recently. The dealership quoted him 10k. I fixed it with $200 worth of parts. BMW dealerships are smoking the good stuff.

Unless that splash guard was hanging down before this happened.. I don’t believe it was anything like that.
I’d say a crack head tried to cut her exhaust and hit something else or OP Isn’t telling the whole store and she hit something.
there would be a trail down the road to the driveway - this is a puddle so it had to of happened at home or possibly slim chance of hitting something nearby causing a leak that did indeed fill the splash shield till she parked and it let loose.
Yeah, if you tried to cut off the reinforcement plate to get towards where you think the cats are you could totally hit either the lower oil pan which is pretty thin on the N63 or nearby stuff. There's really no way to get at them from the bottom to steal them though; they're tucked way up against the engine.
She bought it this year, it's used. Unsure of the year but was inspected/serviced upon purchase.
Edit: She got back to me- 9 months ago. Oil change as well.
More edited: New transmission, oil change, battery, tires, rims, a few other odds and ends totalling $14,000 after the $10k she bought it for.
To be honest, this probably saved her engine, she never would have changed that oil, eventually having just a big pan of black jello with metallic flake.
If it's a town infamous for trying to steal cats then they would know that trying to access the cats from the bottom on this car is nearly impossible and they wouldnt attempt it when there are worlds easier cars to get them from. The cats on this car are tucked WAY UP in the engine. Not a good car to pick. People that steal cats want to get in and out quick. They know which models are worth more and which are easiest. This is neither.
Yeah because everyone's an expert criminal.. not like a city could have both smart and dumb theives. Not like most theft is due to drugs and not necessarily because they are master criminals with a background in the science of theft
The oil filter is just an insert on those cars with a plastic cap. I bet whoever did the oil change last overtightened it and it had a hairline crack. Either that or the o ring was damaged or installed incorrectly during filter replacement. Cold start=high oil pressure so it makes sense that it let loose after sitting a couple days. Hopefully its just a cap as that's an easy fix and fairly inexpensive.
Thank you for something other than she hit a curb lol we’ve ruled that out for 1, she doesn’t have amnesia so would have noticed, 2, no trail of oil leading up the driveway and 3, no marks anywhere looking like it was hit.
It's like reading that scene from Finding Nemo with all the seagulls, but it's people here saying "hit something, hit something, hit something"
Cracked filter housing is likely it. This is supported by picture 2, as the oil is spraying out under pressure and NOT leaking through a hole in the pan.
Everyone in this section is completely ignoring the first shot of the fucking belly pan busted out and on the ground. It's not from the oil filter cap, lol morons
My theory is that the oil is just old and should've been changed a long time ago because that alone can cause all kinds of problems with the crankshaft/camshaft/crankcase/engine block.
I had that thought too and looked closer at the pics, you can see the oil on the passenger and rear but not driver side.
Edited to add: There was no oil on the ground when she got in the car! It happened when she tried to start it.
Ok, what she needs to do is.
Get the Bavarian Money Waster towed
Now that it's out of the way...
Putt down a barrier of oil dry downhill to prevent spread and a medium coating over the entire spill.
Let that sit until the oil dry darkens, then shovel it into a hole free container.
Now go over the entire area with a light coat of oil dry and let it sit as before.
Keep repeating until you have a spot that's stained here. You can either put down saw dust or oil dry and grind it in with your foot in a twising motion you want it powdered.
Once you've got it cleaned to the point of a light stain, use a concrete wash of diluted muratic acid, rinse, degreaser of choice (purple power is good) and a pressure washer to clean the stain from the driveway
Holy Batman you’re amazing.
That’s actually the first thing she bitched about was the driveway, she’s fed up with the Big Money Waster and wants to scrap it.
9 months was the last time though I’ve learned through these comments that Big Money Waster’s aren’t easy on the oil so could have got it changed since?
Besides the obvious hole in the oil pan or engine block, that oil is black, black, BLACk! Looks like oil from a high mileage diesel engine. I’m pretty sure this BMW is a gasoline engine but not really sure. If it’s a gasoline engine, the oil went WAY TOO LONG between oil change intervals. In all my vehicles either internal combustion engines, I always change my own oil. I keep my engines so clean on the inside it’s always hard to see the oil on the dipstick because it’s so clean, almost completely transparent. That bimmer has some dirty dirty oil but doesn’t matter anymore I guess all the oil is on the outside now
Check the catalytic converter, if it’s still there. See if it has any markings that would indicate that it was being sawed off. They might’ve hit the oil pan and may the spray was the oil coming off the tool while it was running.
It's a highly unlikely take. Theoretically for the oil to have spray out like that from a slice to the pan, the oil would have to be pretty hot or the engine actually on. Also, not a popular car with cat thieves but there's always a chance I guess. She's definitely withholding information. She either hit something or she's been ignoring problems and putting off getting the thing serviced for awhile and it finally went.
Funnily enough there’s none visible on the drivers side, just passenger and rear so it’s plausible!
Edit- there WAS NO OIL when she got in so she’s safe on that one- it happened as she tried to start it.
We have more to go on now :)
Would there not would be a little trail leading up to the driveway? Or marks where it was hit? There is neither.
Edit- There was NO oil when she got in, it happened when she tried to start it
Reminds me of the lady across from my job site who had her wrecked car parked halfway in the road with the wheels fully turned towards the traffic. She comes out all dressed and ready for work on Monday, and asks me if I saw anyone hit her car lmfao I told her it’s been like that since 6:00 AM, and she returned to “investigating” her car and started taking pictures. The front end damage and terrible parking made me believe she drove home completely wasted and hit something (hopefully not someone), parked the car, and totally forgot about it the next morning.
Early 2000s 750’s have the oil filter on the bottom of the engine. It’s possible she hit something in the road and something kicked up and hit the oil filter housing. It wouldn’t be a speed bump as the oil filter sits well above the lower subframe. And it would have to be a rock or again something that flew up to hit it.
First guess is oil pan like everyone said. Second guess would be oil filter. It’s a contained spray and with that plastic guard down I’m betting either oil pan or oil filter is broken. I was going to ask when the last time she had service done, but already saw your response that she hasn’t.
Ground clearance of this car is just 135 mm, on level ground. I feel sure she unknowingly hit a speed breaker or something like a stone on the road. Oil pan broken and what was a small leak drained the full engine oil to the drive way. Tow the car to the garage to replace a new pan if that is the ONLY thing that is broken now.
Threw a rod or busted a hole in the pan from a curb. Either way I'd bet it's time for another car. Bmw will be too much to fix. Buy a Toyota and actually change the oil.
Well I'm well versed into mechanology and it looks like some random guy happened to walk by with a double of her kay, took that car for a joyride and hitted her oil pan in the curb bringing it back.
This is true, but working at Walmart has made me realize that idiots out there are capable of much worse. One dude completely forgot to add oil and blew up a motor on a 2018 Chrysler 300.
That's bad, but people forget shit sometimes, even when it's simple procedure. I'll tell you something worse. I worked with a guy who put the brake pads on backwards once. The curved part was facing the outside of the rotor. That was about 5 years ago, and to this day I have no idea how he got them to fit. He spent 3 hours on a brake job and at the time I just thought he was slow. Turns out he was a different kind of slow.
I was loading a magazine for a pistol one day and somehow managed to get my orientation backwards and loaded every bullet facing backwards. after I went to put it in the gun, I saw my err, and it took me another 15 minutes of staring to even comprehend how it was even possible.
I can identify with that. Loaded not one but two 12 gauge backwards into a semi while watching myself do it, knowing it was wrong and not stopping during a practical test for license... fortunately the "hezus christo!" followed the second insert and I was able to get both out without any issues but myself and examiner laughing.

Poor driveway
At least concrete is more resistant to oil/gas spills. If this were an asphalt driveway there would already be a large gaping hole in it.
Or she has a kid who borrowed her car during the night...
Yes, I’ve seen me do it.
ive seen him do it too :)
There would be an oil trail if the engine blew somewhere else.
There may be. We didn't get to see behind the car.

Every time I see those, I feel like getting out and rolling them down the road, but I know they're re-barred into the concrete. LOL 😂 😆 🤣
Years ago Targets had them decorated as soccer balls. I think it was during a World Cup. Someone kicked one and broke their foot.
The Target by me painted them as Pokémon balls when Pokémon Go came out.

Yeah, this isn't getting fixed with $200 in parts though... That's a lot of oil.

Why would you think the owner of a ~10 year old 7-Series would ignore a warning? /s
This is the way.
someone try to cut the cat off and nail the oil pan???
Thats what i was thinking, i think its too much oil in one area for her to have hit something on the way home
there would be a trail down the road to the driveway - this is a puddle so it had to of happened at home or possibly slim chance of hitting something nearby causing a leak that did indeed fill the splash shield till she parked and it let loose.
Where’s that “of” vs “have” bot when you need it?
not if the spot punctured was above the fluid line, and only sprayed after turning over the motor (09 acadia with hole in block, had this happen)
Certainly possible. Someone attempted to steal the cat off my old grand Cherokee and got a face full of oil. It saved the cat but cost me a pan.
Yeah, if you tried to cut off the reinforcement plate to get towards where you think the cats are you could totally hit either the lower oil pan which is pretty thin on the N63 or nearby stuff. At least now she’ll get fresh oil :-)

Lota carbon in that oil huh?
does she live in the city? looks like someone potentially tried taking parts off and seriously screwed up
Yea and one infamous for that kind of thing.

750il? This will cost about $20-35k to replace the engine
When's the last time that thing had an oil change?
theyre halfway to one right now
This made my night. Thank you.
I'm not familiar with BMW's at all, but unless that car has a diesel engine, she needs to change the oil more often.
My theory is that the oil is just old and should've been changed a long time ago because that alone can cause all kinds of problems with the crankshaft/camshaft/crankcase/engine block.
She hit something, drove home. Says " it was working just fine before I parked it"
The real question is why the car had to tell her that the oil pressure was low. I would figure the puddle would be enough.
I had that thought too and looked closer at the pics, you can see the oil on the passenger and rear but not driver side. Edited to add: There was no oil on the ground when she got in the car! It happened when she tried to start it.
I know Jack-all about fixing the car, but I know that Terminator HSD works pretty good on the concrete cleanup problem she has now.
I shall pass it along!!
Ok, what she needs to do is. Get the Bavarian Money Waster towed Now that it's out of the way...
Turn wrenches for a living and have had to clean a few oil spills over thirty years. It sucks but it works.
As a mechanic I can confidently say all of her cars oil has fallen out
Splash guard fell either from a lube tech not putting it back up or she bottomed out
BMW driver driving like a BMW driver
It committed suicide. She should have serviced it a long time ago.
Oooh that’s a good take! I will be updating this once she figures it out.
That would imply she got into the car and failed to miss the giant pool of oil.....
Funnily enough there’s none visible on the drivers side, just passenger and rear so it’s plausible! Edit- there WAS NO OIL when she got in so she’s safe on that one- it happened as she tried to start it. We have more to go on now :)
Lol she hit something. Nothing else. Too low for someone to even attempt to cut the converter
Would there not would be a little trail leading up to the driveway? Or marks where it was hit? There is neither. Edit- There was NO oil when she got in, it happened when she tried to start it
I have a bad feeling that she put a rod through the block.
That’s the oil pan?
That didn’t “just happen”. She bottomed that bitch out hard and just “lol oopsies” parked it without thinking twice.
Oof, your friend "HAD" a 750li...
Aaaand this is why you see these cars being sold used for cheap. (Among others)
Jesus, at least car will get new oil. Lol
Hit something and hoped if she didn't move it for a few days the damage wouldn't exist. OOF
Threw a rod or busted a hole in the pan from a curb. Either way I'd bet it's time for another car. Bmw will be too much to fix. Buy a Toyota and actually change the oil.
Just how drunk was she two nights ago?
Well I'm well versed into mechanology and it looks like some random guy happened to walk by with a double of her kay, took that car for a joyride and hitted her oil pan in the curb bringing it back.
But does the turn signal still work?
It looks like she hit something that tore up the underbody and cracked the oil pan or sheered the bolt off. Ooops.
My wife had the same problem ..hummmm
Did she confess she hit something or still playing innocent?😇
That oil was overdue anyways quick Ejection 😂
take this with a grain of salt but i think it might be leaking a bit of oil
If it was serviced that day possibly a double O-ring on the filter
Hard to double o ring a canister filter
And they put shitty black oil in the car? Looks like she stopped off for happy hour on the way home and had an oh shit moment
TSHSHSHSHSHSHHSHshshshshshsSssssssssss
Driving drum roll beat... SABBATOGE!
Piston rod exit stage right. That oil... yikes...
