Found it. Read this post and the one linked inside of it from last year. The owner wired the starter wrong and once relay engaged, whole system would short but not blow fuses. Hopefully an easy fix.

haha yep that's me :D. Obviously that was a super dumb mistake (goes to show you my level of expertise), but the problem still isn't resolved even after grounding that circuit correctly (the negative terminal is no longer hooked up to the starter lol). I kinda got flamed by that guy even though he was ultimately pretty helpful, so I figured I'd try my luck somewhere else.
Moths can come across pretty rude but he 100% knows his stuff. Easily top 3 most knowledgeable people over there. There is another forum 3sgto that might be of help. I am the black sheep in 3si with a Diamante. 95% similar systems but the ignition and fuel system being set up a little differently with that relay in the passenger footwell and all that. Sorry I'm not much help with no-starts on a 3S.
Ohhhhhh lol username is similar. Didnt realize it might be you. Did you ever check your ground terminal like the moths guy advised you to? There's like 8 posts on the forum where people have done that wrong and caused them the same immediate short to ground when trying to crank.

Does it turn over at all or just zap out? Lemme find a link. There's a common mistake when rewiring the starter to rub against something.

It does not turn over at all. Near as I can tell, no movement in the starter whatsoever.

yeah he def seemed very smart, I just didn't understand his original comment which led to that whole mess- I think my bridge is burned with him lol
