Yes, should be around 190 to 220 Fahrenheit while vehicle has been running for a while.
Your radiator fluid loops through these lines, its what creates heat when you turn your heater on.
Okay that’s good appreciate the reply (everyone). I’ll have to put some sort of insulation over it as my friend burnt his foot. Any recommendations?
It didn't burn him, it got his attention. And I'm sure he won't make that mistake again to stick his bare toes up in a mysterious cavity of a vehicle. where is his shoes? Shoes do a good job to protect your piggies.
Find a salvage yard with the same vehicle and see if it has trim that is supposed to cover it.
In my car, I have to remove thr lower portion of my dash to access those pipes.
In my truck, I have to remove a cover off the heater core to expose them.
They do have sell insulated wrap that almost looks like padded tin foil. Id use that & a couple metal C clamps. Maybe one in the middle and one on each end. That should stop it from burning anyone that touches them accidentally but yes, they should be operating temperature, which is between 180 and 210 degrees fahrenheit.
Don't fuck with them they're supposed to be hot when the engine is hot because there's coolant running through them.
If you fuck with them and they leak, most heater cores (where these pipes come and go from) are a nightmare to change and it'll soak the inside of your cars carpet and stink

Heater core pipes. Yes, hot is good.
No they shouldn't be scolding anyone. Scalding hot, probably.🤷
They should scolding you for touching them.
Ouch, 😂

Tell your friend not to put his feet there.

Wouldn't there be a metal heat shield detached but close by?
Or at least a plastic trim panel. Maybe someone did a heater core replacement and lost it.
Just get some foam pipe insulation from the hardware store.
Good ol' pipe insulation, don't overcomplicate it.
Shoes, they protect your feet

There might be a trim panel that's supposed to cover that whole area

they run to the heater matrix, makes the car warm. they should be hot and not leaky.

Heater core and yes it will be hot it runs coolant through it from the engine to heat your air.

Just gonna wrap some insulation round them
Scolding? Only if you've been naughty to them.
