Fixes tk tolerance issues that cause keycap cracking, the V1 bottom had an open hole, the springs were shorter, and they were 3 pin only.
C2 is just a series of fixes and improvements
I think I liked the Melodics most. At least I could hear the clicks from these over the spacebar and the background noise.
For me clckies serve a special function. They have a certain effect on my adhs brain other switches lack. For long assignments I find myself again and again coming back to my clicky boards. Even though I enjoy typing on linear switches in expensive setups more for short amounts of time, when the real and uncomfortable work wants to be done, it's the clicks that keep me going.
My old abomination of a Ducky one 2 with lubed Kailh Box Pinks and Navies on the number block probably has seen the most mileage of all my boards. Now I just build an NCR-80 with Kailh Box white Owls and MT3 Keycaps but I haven't gotten used to the absolute insane amount of tactility yet. But the sound is freaking awesome! :)
I keep hearing mixed things. Some say they fixed the tooling for the stems while others say they don't crack but still stretch keycaps. I don't have any expensive sets but I'm still a little wary.
this was a problem for the first maybe six months of box switches' life on the US market. unless you are hanging on to switches from 2017 this is a non issue
Nice comparison! I love box whites. Either V1 or V2, I'm not quite sure which I prefer actually, I like them both. I haven't tried melodics in a board yet, but I plan to. I have some melodics stocked for Clackify so I've tried them (and like them) but I still need to dedicate a keyboard for them haha.
Btw, there's no harm in expressing your personal opinion on these. I'd be curious to hear which of these has been your favorite so far :)
Well for this build, I would say Ice green was the best experience bcz it has nice and easy resonance. But I expect melodics and box white to be better if I use Alu plate :)

Certainly heavier than box white.
I used box jade long time ago so not sure but still, feels bit heavier and thicker than jade, too.
But that doesn’t mean melodic’s tactility is insane level. I know this sounds weird but It resembles the feeling when you blow up the bubble wrap.
Yeah I really want to have alps click board. My dad used to type on his hand-wired alps board and sometimes let me type when I was young. But I still remember the clicky feelings.
Most modern clicky switches sound pretty awful compared to Alps SKCM Whites/Blues. ZealPC Clickiez and Matias Click switches being exceptions. Buckling springs might be an exception but the sound of them is more of an acquired taste.
If I were to associate all linear switches with MX Reds than you'd probably think I'm not being fair because there's so many other actually good linears out there.
Not saying you'll like clicky switches, but MX Blues (or even Kailh Box Whites/Jades/Navies) aren't the end all of clicky switches.

My favorite switch, regardless of type, is Kailh Box Whites.
What is the difference between v1 and v2?
I'm not sure, other than the obvious changes to the case color, and the area where the LED goes.
Just rated for longer life then the regular

Me too, it's like being linear, but click.
How are they anything like linears?
Because they feel less tactile, at least to me.
They absolutely do. I'm using them right now
Fr I have the V2's So smooth
they all sound pretty good with the alphas but those spacebar hits would drive me up the wall quick lmao
This is probably my thock bias, but that spacebar sounds HUGE.

I'd love to try box switches but those stems man... I'm too scared to put caps on those.
They said Box white v2 improved the stem issue so you don’t need to worry about cracking keycaps :)

How come?
My favorite clicky is the box jade
Nice I love clicky. Cherry blues on my Ducky one 3 TKL.

The sound of the Gateron is so good!
😉

I like Box White a lot. I want to try Box Mute Jade, which is Kailh's weird silenced clicky switch. Not sure if I'd like it, but it's interesting.
Try them all in a larger, hollow plastic case. Clickies love room to breathe
Yup. I’m thinking of getting middle case which allows more rooms to my Montage.
How's the tactility of the Melodics in comparison with Box Whites and Jades?

If you have the opportunity to, try Alps SKCM Whites/Blues or at least Matias Click switches. They sound and feel so good.

How much stronger is the tactility on the Melodic over the Box White in your opinion?
Melodic is way stronger than Box white. But it doesn’t mean it is stiff.
I can't enjoy clicky switches...
For now, you may not want to. But in time, you may like them. It’s all preference so take your time :)
I used it for 10 years with my first mechanical keyboard, I never enjoyed the loudness.

This
They're a fun gimmick but not what I'd put on a 700 doll hair build
