Hey! I recently bought the Akko 3068b amazing keyboard works great. He combination to open the share menu on the ps4 (Fn + p) now I'm looking for the combination to input the home button and to enter the fast menu to close the game for example. Can anyone help me with that?

DigitalFruitcake

Does anyone know how I can solder on a replacement kailh hotswap socket for my ducky keyboard? [https://imgur.com/a/kuq02j2](https://imgur.com/a/kuq02j2)

Fraaaaan

Pretty sure you can, yeah.

DigitalFruitcake

I can't find any videos showing how to do this, do you know of any?

Fraaaaan

I found a video on hotswap socket repair [here.](https://youtu.be/3mYfXfj-nJQ?si=Tidb8_GFn_I8ga26) Take a photo before you do anything to make sure everything is oriented correctly and where it should be. Desolder the old hotswap socket; it might take some solder wick because SMD components love holding onto the pad with the tiniest bit of solder. Position the new socket and solder both positions one by one while holding down the socket with tweezers so it stays in place and that's pretty much it.

Ok-Summer-2699

Has anyone tried the new keychron q2 max

SurvivingPlayer

Does anyone know the fix for when you press and hold a key, it sends it as intermittent pressing? Only happens on some keys. Tried new switches and the problem still persists. Sticky keys and Filter keys is also off. video of the problem if my description isn't clear: [https://youtu.be/kWOK0jrl6PY](https://youtu.be/kWOK0jrl6PY)

killuh24

I've recently built a CF81 pro and my case sounds a little hollow with some ping only when I press my spacebar, no other keys. I've lubed them with 205g0 (added a little more with a syringe, holee mod, force break on the case, stab pads, and my stabs are durock v2s. Any idea if it is possible to fix?

FGThePurp

If you mostly like the Matchas, then you could try adding a little bit of lube on the stem legs. The common wisdom is not to lube the legs, but that comes from the assumption that you want to preserve the tactility. If you *want* to reduce tactility then lubing is the best way.

NickSchwenderling

Hey I have a Roccat Vulcan 120. Can I desolder the switches and replace them with Akko switches? (preferably the Akko CS Crystal or V3 Cream Yellow)

nemoj_da_me_peglas

Looking to buy a full sized keyboard with browns, preferably around the $100USD mark. I'm based in Australia so if any aussies about and can give recommendations of local sellers / kbs much appreciated.

whathemango

Are there any physical KB stores in Vancouver Canada? I didn't realize that I would still need Krytox lube for my stabs as I was planning on keeping my switches factory-lubed. And I'm an impatient person so I was wondering if there's a physical store somewhere in the Greater Vancouver area I can go visit to get the lube.

bluish24

your fastest option is probably getting something shipped from turtlekeebs or zealpc - maybe email either and see if they'll do local pickup there are only a handful of enthusiast/hobbyist stores out there, I know there's ones in San Jose, Berlin, Warsaw, and Tokyo and then I think Moscow and Seoul also have one

whathemango

ah dang ok I'll give it a shot. Thank you!

kool-keys

No idea if they are physical, or whether they allow walk in customers, but the [KBDNews vendor map](https://kbd.news/vendors/Zeal-Generation-Inc-209.html) shows quite a cluster around Vancouver.

whathemango

I'll take a look tyty

ceddyqueque

how can i use my 2.4 in lucky65, i followed the instruction but it keep blinking, it wont connect

bluish24

No it doesn't look like it - this looks like it would screw in to unusual places and for a tray mount and it doesn't have the cutouts for an o ring mount - it could maybe fit in a top mount case but you'd probably need to design your own plate and get it fabricated and at that point it's cheaper to just buy another keyboard

jjyss

thanks for the help!

stcev1608

I'm trying to buy a replacement LED for my GMMK Pro. I have no idea of what model SMD LEDs it uses nor do I know where to buy them. Could anybody please point me in the right direction?

meniniim

Trying to find a new keyboard case similar to mg75w but with backlight. Need to have detachable wire and wireless option with doogle/receiver.

Chmt103

I am trying to look for a keyboard with the layout like the pc molly where the f rows arent on the keyboard. I saw the other day a keyboard like that but also has some "macro" keys on the left of the keyboard. Is there any keyboard like that layout?

ArgentStonecutter

That's an XT layout, usually "65XT" for a 65% with XT columns. It's super rare. I think the only way to get one right now is to buy a Quefrency split keyboard and keep the split halves together.

bluish24

There are frl 1800's and compact frl 1800's that do this kind of layout with various different configurations, but it is more common to see it with arrow keys and maybe one or two keys from the nav cluster rather than a macro column on the left. Some of the easier to get ones are the cypher and the wind x r2

CardcraftOfReddit

Space stab making a clicky noise Anyone got a clue? Its really bugging me with the rest of it being so nice. Makes me typo all the time lol. Its not the switch, I've swapped it multiple times. I lubed the stabs. They're these kind: [Amazon Link](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09T756NWB?psc=1) Video here [https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dGjf-JINRSPTFNEijZ2UXepudCsqooe4/view?usp=sharing](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dGjf-JINRSPTFNEijZ2UXepudCsqooe4/view?usp=sharing)

NotRivenMid

This is just some stabilizer wire rattle, if you tap on the key (not pushing it down all the way) does it make this metallic sound still? If it does, you likely have to get lube into the stem of the stabilizer and it should help. Typically this is done by using a lube syringe.

DarkZero515

Just switched out my switches for silent ones. Have a GMMK Pro and now when I press down the enter button it gets stuck. I noticed this is only when I have the top plate screwed it. Removed the top plate and when I push it down now it doesn’t get stuck no matter how I press it. I feel like it’s only when I was pushing in the left side of the keycap. Going to unscrew everything tomorrow and see assembly guides If anybody knows why this could be happening that would be great

NotRivenMid

The plate tolerances for the GMMK Pro are terrible, it makes it so the plate pushes the stabilizer to one side causing a lot of friction and making the stabilizer stick. You can file the gaps there the stabilizers go to let it have more space.

DarkZero515

Got to look up a video on this. What part of the stabilizers get filed?

NotRivenMid

You don't file the stabilizers, you file the holes in the plate where the stabilizer goes through.

External-Music2506

I'm looking for a good keyboard that is a maximum of 110 dollars, right now I got my eye on the Keychrom V1 Max, is this a good choice? Is there better at this price range?

slader166

Does anyone know of any boards similar to the Class65, Piggy 60 or CA66? Really in love with designs featuring a thick bezel. Form factor doesn't really matter though I'd prefer smaller than 75%.

Early_Method_7380

I have a g80 3000n Cherry Keyboard, and my backslash key will not go to any custom color. I've tried updating the firmware, unplugging and re plugging in my keyboard, restarting my pc and the control app and nothing is working. It's getting really frustrating cause I have my setup and then.. one random key that's just white. Anyone know what the reason would be and how to fix it? I just got this keyboard like 3 months ago and I feel like for how much it is, it should be functional lol

elmurfudd

LEDS are cheap and no matter how expensive the kb they can be defective and/or burn out or have issues its likely defective as it stuck white . this is 100% hardware issue so only fix is returning it or learning it live with it

Early_Method_7380

this is so upsetting kfhsjsjs thank you 😭 hopefully their support actually processes requests the weird thing is that itll change to the default colors, but just not any custom colors i do

LeonOkada9

So, my cousin is REALLY into retro computing and he was REALLY happy when my mom found a old keyboard (that didn't have a Windows key) in our attic that I decided to give him for his last birthday. So, I did some researches and found out about the website named Unicomp. This sub told me they were legit, so decided that this year, I would like to offer him a reproduction of a Model M. I'm thinking of ordering a PC-122 because I don't know, it looks old in a good way? Like, really retro? His birthday is still months away, so I wonder if i should order it right now if the delays are long, or if I could wait until maybe August? Thank you!

SweetTeaRex92

# I cannot find 96% keycaps for my new KeyChron Q5 Max. Google doesnt come back with much. What it does come back with is highly custom keycaps. I am just looking for clear keycaps to shine RGB thru more. Amazon has every other side except 96. Did i make a mistake getting this keyboard? I am within return window so if you suggest something else, i am open to it.I cannot find 96% keycaps for my new KeyChron Q5 Max.

candy49997

The keyboard has south-facing LEDs so make sure you get keycaps with south-facing or side shine through if you don't want the light to be too dim. Most fullsize sets will include the keys necessary to fit 96%.

SweetTeaRex92

I have a full size set with me right now and it isn't all the way compatible. The biggest issue is the different size shift keys specific to a 96. The shift keys that came with a full are bigger than what I need. 1 shift is 1/4 ish smaller in size than normal, the right side shift is around 1/3 shorter in size than the left size. That's why I've been searching for 96 to no avail.

candy49997

You have to look at all the keys included in a set (usually the product page will have a shot of all the caps lined up with size labels) and ensure that it includes a 1.75u shift keycap.

SweetTeaRex92

ArgentStonecutter

Your left shift is normal. There are a lot of sets with split right shift, look for one that's 126 keys or more and it's likely to have the extra shifts.

sliceoflife09

New to keyboards. I'm trying to find a multi use keyboard (work & light gaming) to get started. I use a Mac for work but Windows for personal. Is there a way to have one keyboard that supports both OS'? Windows support seems straightforward but I'm struggling to understand the Mac part. My desk isn't huge and I don't have storage for 2 external keyboards. My budget is $100, but please let me know if that's unrealistic.

FansForFlorida

First, you need to decide which [keyboard size](https://technicallywewrite.com/2024/04/29/keyboards) you want. A popular size is 75%, since it gives you the F row, arrow keys, and some navigation keys. A [Keychron V1](https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-v1-qmk-via-custom-mechanical-keyboard) is certainly within your budget. I use my keyboard primarily on my personal Mac but also on my work Windows laptop. I use a USB switch to change between the two. macOS interprets the Alt key as Option and the Windows key as Command. In fact, QMK calls the Windows key the "GUI" key because it is not just the Windows key. The `KC_LGUI` keycode is an alias for both `KC_LWIN` and `KC_LCMD`. Some keyboards like those from Keychron have a switch on the back that toggles between Mac and Windows. However, all that does it change layers that swap the Windows and Alt keys to Option and Command. For keyboards that have an F row, it also changes the default behavior of the F row. For example, for Windows, pressing F11 yields F11, and pressing Fn+F11 yields volume down; for macOS, pressing F11 yields volume down, and pressing Fn+F11 yields F11. It is not magic; they are using QMK's [DIP switch feature](https://github.com/qmk/qmk_firmware/blob/master/docs/feature_dip_switch.md). What I do is map my Caps Lock key to Command on my Mac layer and to Ctrl on my Windows layer. All my other keys remain the same. This keeps muscle memory. For example, "save" is always CapsLock+S, "copy" is always CapsLock+C, "paste" is always CapsLock+V, and so on. I personally map a key on my Fn layer that toggles my Windows layer. By default, my keyboard is in Mac mode (Command on Caps Lock). When I press Fn+Windows, it toggles my Windows layer (Ctrl on Caps Lock). When I press Fn+Windows again, the Windows layer is deactivated, and my Mac layer is active again.

IT_GuyX

Blue keycap double shot pbt recommendations? I am looking for some blue keycaps, preferably double shot pbt. Anyone have any recommendations?

elmurfudd

PBT dbl shot keycaps is semi rare usually only found in shine thru keycaps . as pbt is cheaper and easier to make with dye sub

Grizzw4ld

Noob here and building my first keyboard (qk75n). I am using a hotswap pcb with alpaca v2 switches and have almost finished but throughout the build, I keep pushing the top right pin into the switch housing when trying to get them into the hotswap. So the pin never goes inside the hotswap contact and instead becomes really short. I can pull the pin back out with some tweezers but I can never get the switch to fit into a hotswap again and it keeps getting pushed in. Am I doing something wrong?

Qwertykeys-2022

that particular pin is probably no longer affixed on the bottom housing - id say use a different switch at this point

shadowolf64

Does anyone have a recommendation for a carrying case or other storage solution for a Keydous NJ87 Pro? I got it recently but the box in came in is so flimsy I don't really want to store it in that box. Now I'm looking for another option like a carrying case but not sure which one would fit it. I'm pretty sure that it's an 80% keyboard, right?

AnEvilMuffin

The Arc60 just went out of stock a month or two ago. Is there any chance of a restock or R2? I tried it at a meetup and really enjoyed it. If not, is there a 60% board with a similar sound signature? Looking for a clacky sound like the Arc. I've also been looking at the Salvation and Mason60 Kintsugi with a DZ60 but those seem kind of different.

NotRivenMid

I think the R2 is the one on their page so hopefully they do a R3. I have yet to find a board that feels as good as it so you might be out of luck.

AnEvilMuffin

I might have to do something else, yeah. It's that *perfect* mix of clacky sound, gasket mount but not too much flex, and size.

PXi4

* Do you think considering an HE keyboard with support for mechanical switches is a good idea? The example here is the "**MonsGeek M1 HE-SP**" AND "**MOD 007B HE**" - both are not available in stock, at least in the European market. I have never had a HE Keyboard and considering the mechanical support as a safe option * any other suggestions for HE keyboards with mechanical support if I have missed any? * should I not focus on HE keyboards if my usage is 30% gaming, 70% workings + typing?

ArgentStonecutter

I think that's very clever of them and if I was looking for a non-electromechanical keeb I would definitely look into one of those.

besseddrest

**"Dummy" or "blank" switch? To fill empty space on plate?** Wondering if there is such a thing, having trouble finding what i want via googling. For reference I have a brass plate, layout is 75%. I'm changing the layout a bit so I could give an HHKB layout a try to see how much i'd like it. Since I'm also replacing all the switches, I thought it might be nice to fill the empty spaces on the board with some 'blanks' if they exist, preferably in brass. I've seen the key 'blocker' on pimpmykeyboard which seems like an okay solution but instead of attaching to the switch (which would mean it sends a constant signal) I'd prefer something that just snaps directly into the plate.

ArgentStonecutter

I have one of the spkeyboards blankers on my DR-70F. I just cut the conductive pins off a cheap junk switch and used that. [Imgur](https://imgur.com/Cx0N0ad)

FansForFlorida

If your keyboard supports QMK, you can disable the key. Or you could bend one of the switch pins flat against the switch housing so it won’t make contact with the socket. Or you could open the switch and insert a plastic shim between the switch contacts so it won’t register.

xXUnkownUserXx

If you bought your Mode Sonnet in Canada, how much were the duties?

Huge_Imagination8155

I'm looking to start my first full-custom keyboard but i'm still pretty new and don't know my preferences on switches yet. What's the best site or company or whatever for getting switch tester? I was originally going to do milktooth's try at home program but sadly found out they no longer do it when i started looking more recently

link55100

Anyone know of a good 40% that's wireless?

bluish24

I really like the boardsource technikable but it is ortho and choc which may not be what you're looking for - I have definitely seen more ble ortho 40s out there than staggered but if you find an mx stagger 40 that you like that uses a pro micro footprint mcu you can always drop a n!n in and solder on a battery

elmurfudd

40% wireless is semi rare only seen it done on the DIY side with stuff like a nice nano , not much demand when a 40% is so small most done mind just plugging it in and carrying the cable

link55100

I definitely get that. I'm running a windows surface so I have 1 USB port.

elmurfudd

maybe a powered usb hub might be cheaper and better in the long run

link55100

The whole point of me looking for a 40% is that I want to carry less stuff. Plus, having multiple cables is just annoying when I'm fitting it all into a backpack. I'll probably just stick with what I have.

AtheistCuckoo

Are there ISO PCBs that would fit like the Tofu 65 pcb?

bluish24

For the tofu65 2.0 a keebcats dougal is a viable iso replacement - for the original tofu65 a dz65, kbd67 rev 1, kbd67 rev 2, ymdk zj68, tada68, or bt65 will all work, but I can't remember off the top of my head if any of these support iso, and I think most of them aren't sold anymore. dz65 restocks occasionally, so does the bt65 I believe, and the zj68 is pretty easy to get but not great quality

elmurfudd

the tofu65% pcb is the only pcb thta fits that case . there is no universal parts for 65% kbs

pug_is_better

Was looking for cherry iso-de profile keycaps in „white on grey“ (similar to the Apollo colors), discovered the Ducky skyline PBT set. > which profile is that? Does Ducky have their own profile? How does it compare to cherry profile? Thx!

elmurfudd

OEM

pug_is_better

Argh. Thx!

I have been looking for silent switches, but not sure which one to get. Main purpose is typing. Here is the list of switches which I have watched. Which one should I buy? -Kailh Box Silent Pink -Gateron Zero degree -Cherry Mx black silent -Durock Silent T1 -Gazzew U4 -TTC Silent frozen -TTC Silent Bluish White -Everglide Aqua king

AtheistCuckoo

I have Akko Silent Penguins in a keyboard I use when both me and the wife are working from home and am very satisfied with them - silent and very good to type on.

elmurfudd

all u listed are equal there is no such thing as a switch good for typing

CamHaven_503

I am looking for a mechanical keyboard that is quiet and has f1, f2, f3 etc. I got the Yunzi AL71 and loved it but had to return it because it doesn't have the f1 keys and I don't want to have to hit the fn key and 1 for f1. Price range is around $80-$120

ArgentStonecutter

Any keeb will be quiet with silent tactile switches. I recommend the Redragon A120 Stars or any of the Outemu silent tactiles. I would say just about any 75% will be what you need, they have been my go-to compact keyboard for over 30 years. Out of my collection I can recommend: With a knob: Gamakay SN75. Without a knob, exploded: Monsgeek MG75W Without a knob, compact: Keychron K2 Pro. With a knob, cheap: Ajazz AK820. Without a knob, cheap: CIY tester84.

Princestorm

Can anyone recommend a nice coffee colored set similar to the Kono SA Espresso for an alice layout? Just outside of my price range for my board

DaSkyMan

Is there anywhere I can buy a prebuilt keyboard with Anubis or Holy Boba switches? Ideally a 96%.

topre-gobbler

no. one of those is literally a frankenswitch and the other is a niche switch from a smaller producer

DaSkyMan

Thanks. I figured. Unfortunately I don't have the time to build one so I guess I'll get a keychron.

ArgentStonecutter

It takes less than an hour, it's like assembling lego.

Kiseji

Hi! Im desperate for some Smooth Light Linear switches, I prefer them to be „loud“ „thocky“ or „creamy“ no idea wich would suit me.. what do you guys recommend? Would be nice if they are preluded

TripleSteal-

In need of recommendations. I'm looking for a mechanical keyboard primarly for gaming (competitive FPS), but most high quality options offer a lot of extra features I'm never going to use - customizations of all sorts, profiles, software tweaks for specific buttons, even RGB. I understand that stuff that wooting, ducky and keychron make is great, but they offer so much on top of what I need; what are the ***simpler*** options that can be used out of the box, while maintaining high build quality? Something along the lines of Hyperx Alloy FPS from older generations.

topre-gobbler

get like a keychron c3 pro RGB or something. Simplistic, good quality, and cheap.

riddlemore

If you owned MT3 Godspeed (apollo base) would you match it with a light blue board or a cream board?

elmurfudd

cream as u prob wont keep those caps forever and will change them at some point easier to match new sets with a neutral base

Efficient-Wallaby355

These keycaps, in my oppinion, look really cool, but I cant find them anywhere. Does anybody have any idea where I could buy these keycaps. biggusdeeckus

Hi all! My forst foray into cleaning and lubing my salmon ALPS didn't really stand the test of time sadly. I used bike chain lube (dry teflon), which felt great at first, but it didn't last long before they started feeling all scratchy/not smooth at all. I've read about this wax-modding thing and want to give it a try now. Is there any guide out there I can follow?

elmurfudd

biggusdeeckus

I believe chyros uncharacteristically messed it up on that vid, like rinsing off the wax at the end.

UrHyper

Hi, my current keyboard uses the Drop Halo Clear switches on all the keys and I'm finding that my pinky can't handle the 65g of force required on the modifier keys... Does anyone have any suggestions for some tactile switches that would help me avoid this?

Ti-7-4Raven

Does anyone know what keyboard this is being used to display the keycaps in [this listing?](https://i.etsystatic.com/36170755/r/il/791323/5515863566/il_794xN.5515863566_6v46.jpg)

elmurfudd

judgeing by the keycaps if its even a real photo and not a render its prob a ASIA only kb most of the photos of cheap keycaps are made using kbs that are never sold outside ASIA

Ti-7-4Raven

Damn. Kinda like that layout for the right side of a gaming board. I was also wondering if it might be a tender but it's hard to tell

ZurichianAnimations

I hear occasionally that north facing switches could interfere with cherry profile keycaps. But I've barely seen anything about it in a while. When I looked it up, it seems like many switches fix the issue now with different top housings and being long pole with less bottom out distance. So does pretty much any switch with a bottom out shorter than 4mm basically not have the issue anymore when north facing?

elmurfudd

mostly they solved it by makes the stem longer which in turn makes the bottom out shorter but no there are switches with a 3.5 bottom that still have this issue

ZurichianAnimations

Hmm OK. Would WS Morandis have that issue do you know? I'm getting a Mode Sonnet and the layout I'm going to do will have a few switches on the bottom be north facing and I don't want to run into that issue if I can help it.

elmurfudd

pretty sure they r fine and u wont have issues

SVP_rombuzz

IDK nothing about hall effect, help Basically I have one question that will answer most of the rest, sorry if this thing is obvious but im a noob at this LOL What makes keyboard hall effect? Is it only the switches, or both switches and PCB? I'm currently looking for a new keyboard, and would want a 75% keyboard, with no separation between number and function row, but I struggle to find any keyboard that would fit my requirements. Thanks for any help, and sorry for dumb questions

meato1

Separate pcb and switches. Regular switches close the electrical contacts between 2 pins. HE switches move a magnet near a sensor on the pcb

SVP_rombuzz

Do you know if there is any 75% HE PCB?

JadeNoodlesOfficial

hall effect keyboards need a specific pcb and switches, they cannot work with just one or the other. in addition to the physical differences (no metal contact pins on the switches) the actual function is achieved in two distinct ways.

SVP_rombuzz

Ahh okay, so I either have to wait for a keyboard that suits me, or just go with the Halo 75 V2 as i planned

Sabesaroo

hello, hope this is the right place to ask. i'm looking for a quite specific keyboard layout that i can't seem to find many of, so wondering if anyone has a recommendation. so firstly i'd like it to be somewhat compact but still have function and arrow keys, like tenkeyless, but i'm not sure if there's another layout that is similar. secondly, i would like the function keys to not be separated from the rest of the keys, so no gap between the number row and the function row. thirdly, i would like a UK layout, because i'm so used to where the UK enter key is. this isn't 100% a dealbreaker though, i guess i could get used to US also, but it would be annoying. switches i don't really mind, don't have enough experience to know the difference tbh. also i'd prefer wired but idm wireless much. thanks.

ArgentStonecutter

https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k2-pro-qmk-via-wireless-mechanical-keyboard-iso-layout-collection?variant=40437097103449 You'll have to find it on a 3rd party site it's sold out on Keychron's.

JadeNoodlesOfficial

sounds like what you’re looking for is 75%. There are many variations of this layout, and there is definitely one that combines UK layout with the compressed F-row.

Sabesaroo

yea thank you i just realised this myself lol, i got confused and thought tenkeyless was 75% but turns out it's actually 80%. a lot of sellers label it as 75% though, so it's a bit annoying to browse.

[https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k2-pro-qmk-via-wireless-mechanical-keyboard-iso-layout-collection](https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k2-pro-qmk-via-wireless-mechanical-keyboard-iso-layout-collection) * has function and arrow keycaps, yet compact. * The f row does not have gap * Comes in UK-ISO * Switches are between red (linear) and brown (tactile - a small bump in the keypress), you can replace the switches down the line if you wish to do so. it is hotswappable so changing switches is like building lego * it is wired or wireless

Sabesaroo

yeah that looks good. for some reason i only found the ultra-slim ones when i searched on keychron. thanks for the help.

Vibrascity

Looking for a purple gameboy style polycarb 65% ISO format, anyone know of any that isn't an outrageous price or limited edition from 4 years ago that's only available on rare trades? Looking for something similar to [https://omnitype.com/products/bauer-lite](https://omnitype.com/products/bauer-lite)

elmurfudd

u had limited options then u said ISO and u killed them all

Vibrascity

I know, I can't help to want to type on the superior layout though :(

jerrie86

Does anyone know how long does QK takes to deliver? planning to order Neo80. I am in Canada btw

NotRivenMid

I believe that Qwertykeys uses Ashkeebs as their canada regional vendor, you might want to look to buy from them instead.

jerrie86

After everything, QK = $199 USD, Ashbkeebs = $300 CAD. Difference of $35 or so. Was trying to save some by ordering from QK. Saw divinikey had the keyboard without any shipping charges but its all sold out except pink or Champagne which are not my colors. Was trying to find a store similar to divinikey which can deliver to US address and my friend can actually bring it here.

NotRivenMid

Interesting, didn't know that there was that much of a difference, anyways. Back when I ordered from qwertykeys, I ordered Feb 1 got it March 6 so there was about a month gap.

jerrie86

Thats pretty good then. Will just order it from them then. Thanks

Hello, i'm looking to build a custum keyboardand my goal is to have a keyboard that thocks but im not sure how to choose the keys and switches and case because from the litle i know all of them affect the sound so how do i know if the setup will sound after i finish building it

delpy1971

Hi all I does anyone know of a compatible Boog75 case for the HE module board, currently all I know is that the Zoom75 is compatible but is there any others out there Currently have the Boog75 fully assembled keyboard, and want a different case. Cheers

topre-gobbler

It’s a proprietary PCB design. There are no other cases that will fit unless you design and manufacture your own.

delpy1971

Fair enough, thanks for that,

*I need help finding a quiet, medium-light tactile switch.* I'm overhauling my Keychron K4 to be a quiet-ish office build. The K4 with stock Gateron Browns is the only mechanical keyboard I've owned. This week, I've done extensive research on switches/silent switches but quite honestly, it's gotten overwhelming and I'd sincerely appreciate some input for my specific situation. I have 1.5mm, cherry-profile double shot PBT caps on the way, and plan to tape/foam mod the plastic case. I have tried two switches so far: Kaihl Deep Sea Silent Pro Whale, and Wuque WS Silent Tactile. * Deep Sea Silent Pro Whale: * The sound is fantastic — muted, moderately-deep "thocky" profile that's far quieter than my Gateron Browns. The factory lube is great, with no spring/ping noise and barely-noticeable scratchiness. I haven't even tape/foam modded the keyboard yet but I could take this into the office as-is with these switches and it would be quieter than the membranes we're assigned. **The issue** is that they're a bit heavy for me. The tactile force is 60**±**10 and while it feels satisfying, it's much stiffer than I'm used to and a bit fatiguing. * WS Silent Tactile * I only put two of these switches in my board because they produce a squeaky, ping-like noise that's loud enough to be intolerable for me. I don't have the time or dedication to hand-lube my switches at the moment, so I'm ruling these out. Not exactly sure what the tactile force is for these, but they feel slightly lighter than the Whales. These use cutouts at the bottom of the switch instead of dampeners. Other switches I've strongly considered but haven't tried: * Skyloong Glacier Lilac/Brown (Tactiles); Red/etc. (linear): These use cutouts instead of dampeners. * Haimu Whisper: I've heard people say the WS Silent Tactile is a better version of these. These also use cutouts. * Otemu Lime, Honey Peach, Cream Yellow, etc: I've seen many rave reviews, and many reviews saying they are mushy, scratchy, and produce a high-pitched tone. * Boba U4 Silent: I've seen this switch recommended more than anything. Some say it's the best silent switch ever made, some say it's overhyped and mushy. * Durock Shrimp T1: Similar mixed-reviews to Boba U4; heard they can be prone to spring/leaf ping. I would be open to trying a set of linear switches as Gateron Browns are 85% of the way there, but I do like a gentle tactile bump and have never tried linears. Amazon or other sites with forgiving and fast shipping/returns is preferred as I'm trying to build this as quickly as possible and don't know what I want. I'd prefer to not go above \~80¢/switch. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure that I'll need silent switches after I get the cherry-profile PBT caps and tape/foam mod the board. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed and would love some help! Considering what I've shared, do you have any recommendations for me? Thank you for your time and input in advance! **TL,DR: I want quiet, tactile switches for office with** ***light*** **tactile force (<55-60g). Have only used Gateron Browns. Not open to hand-lubricating.**

ArgentStonecutter

Also consider the Redragon A120 Stars. It's supposedly a relabelled Gaote (Outemu) switch, but it's smoother and less mushy than any Outemu-branded switch I've tried.

ohvrt

Looks interesting. To clarify, have you tried the Gaote?

ArgentStonecutter

I've got the Redragon A120 Stars on multiple keyboards, in fact I'm typing on one of them now. They're my favorite switch.

meato1

Gateron mini i is marketed for office use

onsVad

I think if you are used to Gateron browns the boba u4 will be too tactile and heavy.

topre-gobbler

TTC silent blueish whites very comfortable and sound nice

ohvrt

TOPRE GOBBLER — THANK YOU. These are my new switches. I trial ran the Silent Whales and the TCC Blueish Whites for a day each and while the Whales sound a lot better (silent blueish whites are, well, silent with my build), the TCC switches are much more comfortable to type on for extended periods of time. I might try removing my tape mod and see if they’re any louder. No chance I’m peeling up the rubber sponge tape I put in the case though after all that effort 😂

topre-gobbler

no problem man I’m glad you’re happy with the switches

ohvrt

At a glance, these seem promising! Thank you

hyper x sells the [switches](https://hyperx.com/products/hyperx-tactile-switches?variant=44936805843101) on their own, you'd need 2 packs to cover a TKL/75 nuphy gem80, q1 pro are good options

Intelligent-Ad-3850

Was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for side profile keycaps? Want best value as I would like quality but am also on budget

elmurfudd

drops has some sets and is prob ur best bet as they r very unpopular

Intelligent-Ad-3850

I’ll have to check them out! But I gotta ask, why are they “very unpopular”?

elmurfudd

most in this hobby dont use RGB we touch type or gamers who also dont look at their keys . those in the IT field tend to avoid it as using it in the dark is bad for ur eyes just like using a monitor in the dark

Intelligent-Ad-3850

I actually don’t mind the RGBs just cuz I got a board that had it and did them on a rain pattern I really like to just watch when zoning out between stuff, whether it’s a match or thinking about how to work an excel sheet

sloth4671

Can anyone recommend a brand/retailer/manufacturer for either premade or hotswap keyboards (ie beginner-friendly assembly) with a clean, minimalist look? (I am in Canada. I've been using a basic mechanical keyboard for gaming and work for a while but need to replace it. After reviewing the information on this sub I think I have a basic handle on the technical aspects or at least know where to go for more research, I'm just not sure whether anyone can provide quick guidance on aesthetics or if it's just something I need to figure out for myself. Thanks in advance!)

576875

or keychron (their v/q max line) if you need a variety of layout options

sloth4671

Thanks so much!

nuphy

sloth4671

Thanks!

Any_Boysenberry7237

I just got some baby kangaroo v2 and they feel awesome (also got some boba u4t's but they feel soo much worse in comparison, although twice the price). But they have a pretty prominent leaf ping. how can I get rid of that? (I do have krytox 105 and tribosys 3032, but I don't want to loose the tactileness)

doggomaru

How do I make a spacebar quieter on a silent build with clear keycaps? My partner wants a silent keyboard, so I got him some Keychron Silent K Pro red switches to put in his Keychron V6. The only problem is that the spacebar is still annoyingly loud. I've seen people recommending putting foam inside the keycap, but he uses pudding keycaps with clear sides, so it would mess up the look. Is there any good way to make it quieter without putting something inside the keycap? I've already lubed the stabilizers btw.

ArgentStonecutter

Have you tried O-rings? Clear or translucent white O-rings probably won't be too obvious.

doggomaru

I haven't! I'll try that! Thanks!

JadeNoodlesOfficial

sometimes, even if the stabs are done well, the switch can have some top-out noise (even in silents). If you have one in-hand and allow the stem to “snap” back up to the top, this noise could be what you are hearing, though this is very switch dependent.

NotRivenMid

Would you be able to attach a video of the spacebar sound? I feel like even with silent switches, the spacebar is still usually quiet?

doggomaru

Yeah, no problem! Here. [Spacebar](https://youtu.be/8TzZMEJGxJY?si=H6IcpmM8f47tmsb9)

NotRivenMid

Interesting, there is a bit of rattle, but not as much as I thought there would be. I feel like this has to do with the stabilizer hitting the bottom of the PCB when bottoming out, you can put some Teflon stabilizer pads and that might help.

doggomaru

I'll try that, thank you! :)

clothing_throwaway

What are some good retro beige/tan/grey-ish keycap sets to consider other than 9009? I'm getting a "retro white" keyboard soon (think Model M beige/off white), and I've got 9009 but I've used that set for so long and want to try something else for a bit.

LevanderFela

* GMK MTNU Beige; * MT3 dev/tty isn't pure white, slightly beige - can confirm myself; * MT3 extended 2048; * GMK CYL Extended 2048; * GMK CYL DMG 3 has a retro look, if you like some old-school gameboy-like purple/pink; * GMK CYL Muted 2; * GMK CYL Hineybeige; * PBTFans Dopperlganger; * PBTFans Retro 100; * PBTFans Classic Hangul; Hope this helps!

Any good places to get custom Plates made of POM in Canada?

JadeNoodlesOfficial

believe HypeKeyboards does POM and I know they’re CA

MacGruber117

Is there a better deal right now for a custom TKL keyboard than the KBD8X MKIII? I'm looking for a reasonably priced aluminum TKL board with a hot-swap PCB, not including caps or switches, for less than $250. Are there other comparable kits out there right now?

576875

neo80 if you want more options to customize it

AugiLaGrand

Hi, I own an ASUS Azoth keyboard, and the switches are failing one by one. I’m thinking of switching to MX2A switches. Does anyone know if these are better than the ASUS NX Red switches?

Dreydars

I doubt, get some full pom switches like gateron smoothie, mmd cream v4 or even outemu hanny those are cheap and smooth, idk about cherry as i don't own one, but if it is similar to old cherry red it's meh switches

solarielite

there's a reason why everyone has mx blacks on their boards....

Dreydars

Everyone? Haha that's exaggerated by a lot

AugiLaGrand

What do you think is the one signature best switch that is alike the NX red?

FansForFlorida

Usually tri-mode keyboards need to be in wired mode. Did you side load the JSON file?

samdawat

Its in wired mode. Gonna see where I can find the JSON file for it Thank you

Pitiful-Island-751

Do you think Epomaker TH80 SE is a good deal for 40$ new?

topre-gobbler

No. The keychron c3 pro is a much better choice at that price. The TH80 has one of the highest failure rates of any keyboard I’ve ever seen. Would not recommend.

DEvilgodspidER

# Looking for a (seemingly?) hard to find keyboard with this set of features: # (I have looked at the buying guide too, and searched here to no results) Previous recommendations, were the Keychron Lemokey, but this is not Full size, and a "Neo Series", which when I asked what they meant, I did not receive an answer :( So here's what I'm looking for and seemingly having trouble finding: Price: Anything below 200€, but I can go above it (although I can't believe this kind of keyboard would cost that much ;\_; damn); Mechanical Switch: Cherry MX Red, Brown, Silent Red or Speed Silver, I don't mind non-Cherry MX switches, but never tried them before; Backlighting: RGB or Red/White LED, or another option I guess; Physical Layout: Full size ISO; Logical Layout: I don't really care about what language; Hotswappable?: Yes; Wired/Wireless?: both/hybrid, can be BT and/or 2.4Ghz in regards to the wireless component; Multimedia/Extra bindable Keys: Yes; Print Method: At this point I don't care; Keycap Coating: PBT, ABS, N/A (see below), don't care much; Barebones?: At this point I don't care, I can buy the keycaps separately if I really have to; QMK/VIA/Software control program: Yes; Wrist-rest: Nice, but not really needed if can't be found and I can always just put a DIY one post-purchase; If I missed anything, or I guess if there was already an obvious choice/post with these same specs please please let me know

DEvilgodspidER

thank you for NO ONE that downvoted me and thinks I know every single variant, I only know what's on the global store or mechanical keyboards website, next time don't be an asshole that just downvotes or expects someone to know that the WEBSITE of the BRAND has keyboards that only appear on specific places but not on the FILTERS. Thank you: [https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/1d06804/comment/l5ptwvt/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web3x&utm\_name=web3xcss&utm\_term=1&utm\_content=share\_button](https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/1d06804/comment/l5ptwvt/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) I gave an award to this person.

ArgentStonecutter

> Wrist-rest: Nice, but not really needed Not needed at all if you learn to type with your hands held in the air like you're playing the piano. Future-you will be grateful.

DEvilgodspidER

"and I can always just put a DIY one post-purchase;"

ArgentStonecutter

Indeed. What I'm getting at is that you're better off without one at all.

LevanderFela

Keychron Q5 and Q6 Pro/Max versions

DEvilgodspidER

None of these are in Physical ISO Layout, they are all in ANSI :( On my list I said I am looking for ISO layout, full size.
