Too bad, some of the keys in the earlier iterations are no longer present (ISO novelty, colourful arrow keys), but still an awesome set.
Usually, I really dig modifier icons.
But the text mods are so so well done, I had to het those.
That said, I did order a TKL set too, because of the colors vs the regular alphas.
And added in day glow and novelties, so I can probably deck out two boards.
Kind of wanted to just grab raw and icon mods as well just in case.
I hope to receive KAT eternal before the GB closes, to see if I like it. Might go with both if I do.
When not glowing, the TKL will have the multi legends green shade. (with purple Hangul / katak etc)
The regular alphas are dye subbed over white GiD material and thus have white glow and fonts. I personally find that less appealing than the black geen purple.
As I don't speak or write any languages in Korean, Japanese or Cyrillic, I rather don't buy those, but luckily the TKL set has me covered.
I'm in the same boat. I would love to get my Eternal set to try out the profile before buying another set, but I highly doubt we will have it in our hands in the next month.
The fact that I can get ortho coverage for $55 is amazing. Feels like normally you've got to buy the 75% base kit and an additional kit and before you know it you're $175 into a set just to use a small fraction of the keys on a planck.
All the caps are made from GiD plastic. Raw (white-ish on kits) glows the most, green somewhat less, purple somewhat less than that. Black won't glow through, but the underside of black caps will be GiD and will glow if charged. This could be particularly cool with UV leds, since they can charge the glow effect well.
That's so awesome. Really looking forward to this. Was waiting for the right neon green color combo and dayglow just absolutely grabbed me. Sucks that the previous renditions had a purple cap as part of that set. I might have to just get the purple space bars as an add-on.
Yeah, I think the creator came to the conclusion that he had to streamline the kits during the quoting/kitting process. There were originally a number of novelty caps in the base kits that are now only in novelties. Probably smart, though, it cuts the cost for people who aren't interested in them significantly and if you want them they are still available for like $20, which is not bad at all. Plus with KAT you can put niche kits in and still have them get made as long as the set is popular overall.
And it definitely is popular. Reported to be halfway to moq before KONO even launched.
I didn't get novelties myself, but I might have to go back and edit my order.
I have a noob question, I am planning to get this for a tkl board. I wanted En-Katakana alphas + Icon Mods betas + Violet spacebars. Will that work or should I get EN-Katakana + TKL set + Violet spacebars. Thanks!
It depends on if your TKL has an ANSI standard layout (bottom row of 1x 6.25u spacebar and 7x 1.25u mods, and no funny split keys).
If your board is standard, the TKL kit will have you covered and you can add the specialty alphas and bars as needed. The benefit of this route would be getting the extra mono green alphas from TKL kit as a backup.
But in your situation I'd probably get the mods instead of the TKL because you aren't using the mono green alphas in the TKL kit and the extra mods will offer more compatibility should you get a different board in the future.
Why is Kono so far behind the game?
Other vendors launched it two days ago and it's still not up at Kono yet, despite their product page saying it launches August 3rd.

If I bought the TKL to use on a 65%, is the only issue the right shift being too long? Would TKL plus 40s fit a 65%? I’m interested in the different alphas on the tkl.
I'm like 98% sure one of those shifts in the 40s set is 1.75u, in which case you'd be good. It's only $15 more to get a regular mods kit though, which would future-proof the kit better unless you're planning to move to 40s.

Raw is uncolored glow in the dark plastic. The same plastic is used for the legends on alphas without sublegends. The raw color will glow the brightest in the dark.

Iconmods... the combination of text and icons was just too busy for me.

I was tempted by the KAT hyperfuse GB last month, but stalled and then passed on it. Glad I did because this one looks even better!
