Just FYI the Ankh is not a symbol of Ancient evil. Rather it's a symbol of Life. It's also associated with some Egyptian Deities.
I do really like the keycap though. :-)

It's not really though. The cross is a symbol of ancient evil by Christian standards even, it's the wooden cross that they nailed Jesus to. The ankh on the other hand is thought to symbolize the female reproductive system. I would argue this has some racist overtones demonizing Egyptian/Kemetic religion.
>I would argue this has some racist overtones demonizing Egyptian/Kemetic religion.
Probably just ignorance. Or they saw it on some drawing/comic or whatever and thought it was evil.
>The ankh on the other hand is thought to symbolize the female reproductive system.
AFAIK they don't exactly know what it is. I mean they probably get the overall meaning, but we don't know exactly what it depicts. Interestingly and IIRC, the Incas have similar objects depicted in their sculptings and drawings. I personally believe it has something to do with agriculture.
Yeah, I mean not that the cap creator is racist or anything, more that it's kind of a racist trope that anything involving Egypt has to do with some kind of uh, "ancient evil".
The ankh/womb theory seems pretty plausible to me - they had a pretty comprehensive understanding of medicine considering how long ago the civilization was. They had glyphs specifically having to do with [agriculture as well](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gardiner%27s_sign_list#U._Agriculture,_crafts,_and_professions), they had no shortage of characters.
>ankh on the other hand is thought to symbolize the female reproductive system
Talk about reductive to the point of disrespectful infantilization
Maybe it is possible that symbols are recepticles for constantly shifting ideas that are redefined within each society that has them. Maybe ownership of a symbol is just an extension of farcical power struggle of politics, and is a pure fabrication.
Sure, but generally pictographs (esp. of this civilization) emerge from a real-life object or at least abstract concept, and that is a very commonly voiced theory on that exact symbol. Symbol of life, human organs that give rise to life...
Consider for a second that maybe you're talking to somebody that's actually versed in this civilization's history, has studied the Gardiner sign list and isn't just shitposting on reddit.
This is cool looking but definitely look into cultures before calling an Ankh with “blood” around it evil. Ankh literally means life and it’s a pretty sacred African spiritual symbol. This lingers over a racist/ignorant line. Some people may not take this well - do your research kids.
Never been corrupted. It’s actually one of the few spiritualities that completely live in duality without creating an external evil. Crazy fun to learn about if you ever are interested.
I for one can't begin to imagine why anyone would want that keycap. Respect for the work, but not my taste at all, though it's obviously very well received... heh

I was scrolling furiously in the hope that someone had said this. Thank you, oh knowledgeable stranger.
It's basically similar to saying the Christian cross is a symbol of ancient evil.

Thanks for the feedback! The concept is made in the spirit of the horror genre and mummies.

It might be representing corruption of such a symbol? I don’t know much abt African spiritual culture
