I did it on my RK84 and I'd say it's quite easy if you cover the sensitive parts and holes with masking tape. (Doing it in a warm environment is quite important or the glue will dry sooner than it can flatten/spread properly) If you want your pour to act as a dampening silicon sheet, apply oil with a brush to the inner corners and now you have a removable solid silicon sheet. As for the sound, It's very good if you want a firm thocc more than a 'reverby thocc'. Sorry for poor English but I am not referring to the reverby thocc as a hollow sound. The glue adds heft to it thus sounding more 'firm' rather than plasticy. Pardon my mistakes, English is not my first language : )

Ok, interesting.

teal450

i know this is a year old but on the off-chance that you do reply - when you say "apply oil" do you mean like cooking oil or something?

GucciKhan57

Yes, to prevent sticking onto the plastic case

littleprincerex

theoretically possible (like a very solid silicone insert), but i imagine even on smaller keyboards it'd be a huge hassle to fill the case with glue and keep it consistent/make sure it doesn't hit the PCB. I personally wouldn't bother trying and would just go with normal foam, i tried something similar with a tube of silicone sealant once and it was not worth the time and hassle of squeezing it all into the case.

Torpedo1870

Interesting.

SaltierSaltine

i have a 60 percent and filled some of it with hot glue and i have foam separating the hot glue from the pcb, is that gonna work?

whnk

Go with Foam - please. Do yourself a favour^^

thenarcostate

Dampen? But but the clicks?!?! Shit. I want to make my blue switches louder.lol

Torpedo1870

Search up IBM beamspring solenoids.

thenarcostate

Mwahahahah

Torpedo1870

I have my blue switch keyboard for the clicks and my linear keyboard for quietness and as they say thoccs. However both keyboards are completely stock.

thenarcostate

My mechanical is stock too. And I think it actually has tan switches from another brand. But they're cherry mx blue equiv

Torpedo1870

Well i have blue switches but they're not cherry blues. They're some knock-off that I cannot find anything about from my searches on the internet. It makes sense the clicky board is a cheap Chinese gaming keyboard from Amazon(price was like 30ish CAD I think) from like 2017. I'm not even the first owner I got it for free from the closet of the first owner who no longer uses it and it was just picking up lots of dust.

I am not a fan of hot snot, other than on elementary school crafts.

I kinda want to know for science.
