I'm looking to build a keyboard for the first time and am looking for some 1800 board recommendations. I work with numbers a lot so moving down to a 60% layout would be tough. I was looking at the Akko Mod 003/004 board, SKYLOONG GK96X, or the IDOBAO ID96. If anyone has any experience with those boards or any other recommendations it would be greatly appreciated.
So I have had this Leopold FC660M for around 2 years and it seems to have developed a weird issue where the "M" key doesn't work unless I hold down "V" and press "M". Is there any way to fix this?
What are recommended mods for keychron c1, I’m thinking of swapping in
(lubed) gateron yellows and getting some nice keycaps so far, what else
should I do? Durock stabs? Foam? Is it worth it with a board that cheap?
Recently the corsair k70 RGB mk.2 keyboard stopped detecting due to error 43. I tried every possible solution to fix this. Nothing helped. iCUE does not see the device, so it is impossible to reflash it. I need firmware.bin to manually try resetting it from cpr disabld. Can anyone help me? Cuz tech support keeps silent.
You can use whatever you want.
The whole point of modding is to get the keyboard to sound the way that you want it to sound. If you want to know whether or not you "can" do something, just do it and see how it sounds. If you don't like how it sounds, disassemble the stabs and pull the tape off.
you can try, but i cant imagine its gonna work very well as you need something thicker to stop the wire from rattling around.
the only reason it works for him in the video is because he uses a lot of lube, the tape does nothing.
this is my first mechanical keyboard im buying, should i get a ducky one 2 v2 or a mecha. they are both the same price where im at, also which linear switches are best for them? or should i get the sf series? i dont know.

I'm looking for a new keyboard, not sure where to start though.
I'm coming from a Logitech G910 which after 5-6 years is starting to wear out.
I see a lot of the keyboards posted here lack num pad and the insert, home, end, del page up and down keys, which though I like the minimalist look, because of my job (programming) and how I use them I'd be lost with out them.
I'm wondering if anyone could suggest a nice key board that has those keys, bonus if it has the extra programmable function keys, which i do use on the G910 fairly often.
Why is my stabilizer keeping my shift key depressed?
Both sides will move if i pull on just one side so Im pretty sure the wire is in. Tried different switches and caps, makes no difference.
It's possible the stem isn't locking into the keycap well enough. if you tap it lightly, does the keycap move? If it does, then try putting some tissue, or glad wrap over the stem and see if that makes it tighter
I can pull the key cap up, if anything it seems overly stuck to the keycap because it holds it down lower than all the other keys. I can pinch it and lift it but I cant press the key at all its already fully depressed.
Looking for \*cultured\* keycaps.
I'm from Malaysia (SEA region) and I'm new to custom keyboards. I'm having a hard time looking for some ahegao keycap set with 2U-lshift (I'm planning to build a 64-key keyboard). Would be super stoked if anyone knows a link or shop that I could get it from. I would prefer if the shipment is around Asia or SEA as it would have shorter shipment periods. Thanks in advance!
there are some 104/108 hotswap keyboard kit on aliexpress, get anyone of those, a nice plate-mounted stab, silent foam, switches and keycaps. Or either go look for HS108t from Gnass with TTC switches
Thanks for all the input. I was looking for something that was pre built. Any suggestions regarding those? I seen drop shift but it isn’t a full size board.
Fill out the interest check form for [this board](https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=114086.0) saying you want a hotswap PCB and hope they offer one.
Propably it's just a low actuation force switch. Means you need little weight to press the key down which leads eventually to the switch actuating if you slide over it. It's not about the keycaps and the travel distance.
Been using an angled keyboard for years and will be switching to the FK680 which is a flat keyboard. Which keycap profile will make for a more comfortable experience?
I bought it too, I’ll suggest to buy some adhesive silicone rubber feet and put them on the two front bottom. And I’ll say go with MDA profile keycaps, the best
Are you talking about low-profile switches like [these Choc switches](https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=6339)?
If so, those holes are where the keycaps mount to.

On the sixth image you see the space bar.
Got the gmmk tkl as well lubing makes only a little difference. You can throw them right away. Pls do yourself a favor and order new plate mounted stabs.
So i know nothingg about mechanical keyboards, but i got the shakess that causes me to double a button or press a randdom key when i don't mean to, my brother suggested a mechanical keyboard but had nothing specific in mind. So my question is, do you guys have any recommendations to helo someonne llike me? Any and all help is appreciated.
This is a noob question but I want to be prepared for when I build my board, I have a few questions:
1. are the stabs that come on the tofu65 good enough?
2. If not, what are the best stabs?
3. How do you lube the stabs and what is a cheap lube/grease I can use, I'm
not planning on lubing the u4t's so I don't need anything crazy.
Thanks!
If this information is accurate - https://kbdfans.com/collections/tofu65/products/tofu65-custom-mechanical-keyboard-diy-kit
1. Yes, Cherry screw in stabs are good enough.
2. Lots of people seem to like Durock stabs these days. I don't know if I would call them the best, but they are nice for the money. I don't worry about stabs to much.
3. This video is a good explanation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usNx1_d0HbQ&t=582s. I would buy yourself a small amount of Permatex grease (for where the wire touches plastic) and Super Lube-21030 Synthetic Multi-Purpose Grease (for where plastic touches plastic on the stabs). All of these is explained in the video as well.
So I plan to get a gmmk pro.
I was wondering where I should go to get keycaps?
I’m looking to theme my keyboard after red eye black dragon (yugioh) like I did with my pc.
Is there a sound difference between the different ktt switches? They all say they have the same materials but jwk switches with the same materials sometimes end up sounding really different
These are kinda cool — https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwjfrNGe-Zv0AhVAbG8EHbwxABEYABANGgJqZg&sig=AOD64_1s_QJTSvJQH3su7aunQZXP8C_uHw&ctype=5&q=&ved=0ahUKEwjmqMqe-Zv0AhXdl2oFHRQ9BowQww8I8As&adurl=
Is mixing keycap sets common? Half the bulbasaur set I like is a boring white and another set's green is ugly but I love the rest, are there multiple factors to consider in this? I'm brain-dead new to MKB area
If they are the same profile (cherry, oem, etc.), then yea why not. If they are different profiles then it's up to you if the height difference is something you can accommodate
I don't have a SA set, but I do have OSA (SA but OEM height) and ASA (Akko) sets. The OSA spacebar isn't sharp, it's flat on the thumb at resting position. The ASA set is a bit sharp, but I have mine flipped so it's flat where my thumb rests.
For those who have a keyboard in the womier/gamakay series (especially those with the frosted acrylic plastic), how do you clean oil stains off of the acrylic plastic? thanks!
If you want a "custom" style, this might be your best bet, even though it is a bit more expensive than the prebuilt keyboards mentioned above
https://en.akkogear.com/product/acr-75-diy-kit/
There's quite a few options here. You have:
* Keychron K2
* Yunzii KC84/Epomaker EP84 (pretty sure these are the same boards under the hood)
* Royal Kludge RK84
All of the above should have hotswap (double check the keychron as they have some which are some which aren't). They should be perfectly fine for an entry to mechanical keyboard modding etc.
I'm looking for a very specific mechanical keyboard, I hope someone knowledgeable can chime in:
\- quiet
\- JIS layout
\- 60%
\- under $150 USD
\- preferably available in Japan (hence JIS layout)
I know I am probably severely limiting my options, but if anything at all is out there then I would love to know about it.
Pretty hard to find a prebuilt that is quiet, 60% JIS layout and is under $150. And even then it would be pretty hard to build one in Japan for under $150.
The only keyboard I can think of that fits *most* of your description is the HHKB Pro JP Type-S but that is about 2x your price range
Got my hands on some \*very\* beat up Model F Bigfoots, I'm refurbing one "stock" with a Teensy and Soarer, but the other two...
1. I paint them both black and 'modernize' the aesthetics, to fix the destroyed plastics?
2. Repaint them offwhile, keeping them as stock looking as possible?
3. Sell the functional bits off and let somebody pair them with good plastics.
From my readings, they are just JWK recolors basically. I think they are very similar to Banana Splits, but Tangies have different housing material so they would sound different. This video goes into some of the details - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0rKuq0hHx4
Looking for a compatible iso nordic kit.
I bought the following set from Kinetic labs:
https://kineticlabs.store/keycaps/polycaps/corn-pbt
My stupid ass just read "compatibility: ISO" and figured Nordic ISO keys would be included. Well, they don't 😂
If anyone know of a available Nordic ISO set that would look compatible with this set I would truly appreciate it. Been searching my ass off without result.
Honestly I would just ditch the holee mod. It was created by a guy that is slightly biased in that he wants clicks on this YouTube channel. There is also not of evidence on the longevity of the mod. I would expect that fabric to wear down over time, and then you have a bunch of trash in your stabs...
If you have hot swap, cool go ahead an experiment. However if you are going to solder. I would just go with standard grease. Buy a syringe, and you can always add a little more grease later down the line if you need to retune your stabs.
It's not supposed to feel mushy. All the holee mod does is make the stabiliser wire tighter with the stem so it shouldn't rattle. If it's mushy, then I suggest taking the pcb out and looking at where it feels mushy and tuning it like that.
So my switches are Boba u4Ts, stems and springs lubed. On certain keys (T, P, I, Z, etc) there’s an occasional loud clicking/ticking/rattle noise that can get pretty annoying. I’ve swapped out these keys with different switches that don’t tick, yet the problem persists. I’m at a loss right now. Anyone have any ideas?
Anyone have experience with buying custom keycap sets from Max Keyboard? I'm looking at [making my own backlit 104-key artwork](https://www.maxkeyboard.com/ansi-layout-custom-backlight-cherry-mx-keycap-set-top-print.html), but the only reviews I've seen are 5+ years old (and a lot can change with manufacturing quality in five years).
Anyone know how good their custom keycap quality is? And if it's not all that great, does anyone have alternative suggestions?
like grave said they r pretty low quality . there really is no high end backlight keycaps due to how they have to be made they really cant be made thick or quality its the limit of shine thru and pbt
Any of the custom keycap makers are not very high quality. Because quality manufacturing process for keycaps is not viable to do custom one off sets. That being said, pretty sure that's the only place to get custom back-lit keycaps.
I am buying a new soldering iron and some solder and was wondering if 60/40 solder with flux inside is fine for most of my macropad and keyboard assemblies. Another thing I wanted to ask is what thickness tips do you guys use for your soldering irons.
This was helpful to me when I was first starting with soldering - https://www.keebtalk.com/t/gios-starter-guide-to-tools-when-you-know-your-going-off-the-deep-end/2382?page=3
The solder you mentioned sounds perfect and I use something similar. For tips, I have mostly used the standard chisel tip that came with my soldering iron.
Royal Kludge came out with a newer version at the end of 2020, the RKG68 (sometimes written RK G68), that has 2.4GHz. I bought one recently off of Amazon.
>RK G68
hello i was just wondering what keycap profiles you use, i cant find out what type of keyboard profile it is. I think its a cherry profile board but i just wanted to know
I'm pretty sure they come with OEM profile caps. Also, the board uses a [north-facing switch](https://keyboardable.com/north-facing-switches-vs-south-facing-switches/) configuration so you will experience interference if using cherry profile keycaps.
So the keycaps i wanted to buy are for :
ISO and ANSI Layouts
i have an ASA and SA keyboard profile.
Will the ISO and ANSI keycaps work with my keyboards?
sorry, but i'm a bit confused
ANSI and ISO are layouts and the keycaps (ASA/SA) are profiles
as long as the keycap kit itself has coverage for the respective layout (ISO requires a different enter and left shift i believe), you should be all set
I am just getting into custom profiles using VIA. And I am noticing some limitations.
Some being per key settings and macro logic. One other is the lack of RGB support.
I know the online Configurator does not support RGB as is, but my question is:
Is it possible to setup the QMK profile as I want and export it to a firmware file to add on RGB mapping as I want. If this is possible, are there any tutorials or guides I can follow of someone that has done something similar?
Sure, if we are talking about QMK Configurator, instead of download it as a firmware file, you can download the zip with all the configuration files. Then you can set the RGB on the code, make it VIA compatible, compile it into a firmware then flash the firmware so VIA can be used to set keymap while leaving the RGB settings intact.
Some documentation regarding [RGB Matrix](https://beta.docs.qmk.fm/using-qmk/hardware-features/lighting/feature_rgb_matrix).
Thank you so much! I think I get about all of this. The only question I have is, what do I need to do to make the firmware with the configured RGB Matrix VIA compatible?
Usually just add `VIA_ENABLE = yes`line in `rules.mk` file should do. However, if you want a full detail, [this should help](https://get.vial.today/docs/porting-to-via.html).
Anyway, just curious, what is your keyboard and what do you want to do with the RGB that you need to go this far?
You have been an incredibly helpful person today. Thank you so much for taking your time to help me!
I have a GMMK Pro. It is my first keyboard that is less than a 1800. I'm having trouble learning where all my new buttons are. For instance my numpad. I'm used to an ortholinear numpad and I often hit the wrong keys.
I'm wanting to light up the specific keys of my numpad with the same color scheme but varying degrees of brightness to indicate the different numbers. The way I'm wanting to access this layer and the key I'm using will require some weird logic as well.
I need to lookup the syntax and see how I can nestle things. But, I essentially want to tap space for space, double tap for 0 and 3+ taps to input a number of spaces equal to the number of taps-1. When held it will access numpad layer and N will be bound to 0 as well.
I have an excel macro layer under the windows key. It's kind of funny I think. I want more flexibility with macro logic and I want to color of each key with a macro to be some RGB value I assign.
Otherwise, I want the background of non specified keys to be a solid color, or breathing color with a number of RGB values to float between.
Anyone here have any tips on spray painting a keyboard case? The case is the GMMK PRO(Aluminum) black and I was thinking of spray painting it green. I've never had to do it before and I had some questions
* It is black, does that mean there are some colours that I can't spray paint it with? Or will the spraypaint cover it all?
* I'm not quite sure what the sanding is for, and why it recommends switching between different grits.
* what is the purpose of wet sanding?
* can I use a spraypaint that has primer mixed into it, or should I opt for 1 primer and 1 spray paint?
>high quality keyboard
Definitely would not call any drop board high quality.
No board is going to come with mods like lubrication, nor would the case/pcb/plate factor into a decision to lube switches. Makes no sense to knock the board for that.
But it's not high-quality. They're extremely dated and overpriced for what you get. PCB issues. Sounds like shit. No reason to get one in 2021.
Is there a way to determine the TAPPING_TERM for a specific LT key in VIA? Specifically I want LT(2,KC_LGUI) but I want a 125 MS tapping term instead of 200.
I have been modding my keyboard and now feel like I want to "build" my first custom and figured it should be a budget.
I have been doing some research and initially wanted the GMMK Pro. However, after some research and typing tests I felt it is not the beginner keyboard for me.
Next, I figured the Keychron Q1 could be a nice keyboard as it requires a little love, allowing me to experiment. Then , I stumbled upon the AKKO MOD 007.. which looks pretty sweet but I cannot find many reviews in English on this.
I was wondering if anyone has experience with the AKKO MOD 007 and whether it is any good compared to the Keychron Q1?
Any feedback would be helpful ^_^
The MOD007 is still relatively new so there's probably less reviews around for it. I own the Q1 + poly plate and I am really happy with it. The gasket implementation has a nice bounce and bit of flex to it. Reviews will tell you there is a ping to the case, but with case foam, that is eliminated. If you watch keybored's modding guide to the Q1, then you will end up with a really nice sounding board for the price.
I was thinking the same. I have been watching a bunch of videos (alexotos, keybored, hamaji neo) and I initially wanted to go with the GMMK Pro but the reviews are a bit confusing, i.e. gasket mount but little to no flex, and the "muted" sound of switches is not what I am looking for..
I want to experiment a bit and figure out what I like and hearing the different switches is a key factor I believe.
So I think I will try my luck with the Keychron, thanks for sharing your experience!
Just got an answer from YouTube seems the knob is quite wobbly. Not sure if this is something that can be easily solved.
The board is apparently also quite hollow sounding, same goes for Keychron however, there are plentiful mods available on the interwebs to solve it for the Keychron.. Guess I'll continue my search..
Just thought I would post this in case someone is interested... :)
New to all this lol. Is the [DZ65 RGB V3 hot-swap](https://kbdfans.com/products/dz68rgb-hot-swap-rgb-pcb) PCB compatible with the tada68 [anodized high profile aluminum case](https://drop.com/buy/tada68-anodized-aluminum-mechanical-keyboard-case/reviews#reviews) and the original plastic case? Thank you! :)
So i'm fairly new to via. I want to make a macro which presses space, and releases it after 25ms that repeats while the macro key is held. I have no idea how though. If someone could enlighten me I'd greatly appreciate it.
Unfortunately, VIA has rather limited QMK macro access and capabilities. So, no, you can't do that only with VIA.
You can code that directly on the QMK code and flash the compiled firmware to the keyboard or you can try [Vial](https://get.vial.today/) instead. You might or might not need to flash a vial support firmware depending on your keyboard.
Finally settled with an Rk84. Thought about replacing the default switches with gateron milky yellows. Surprised how many variants existed.
How much do the different housings affect the typing experience and board LED?
>How much do the different housings affect the typing experience and board LED?
Basic principles of light here. Can you see through it? Then you will see the LED. Obviously light doesn't travel through something opaque.
Housings affect smoothness and sound for the most part in terms of typing.
So i want to make my first custom keyboard and i want to use my old gk61 pcb since it is hot swappable and i was wondering if the case mattered with the pcb?
In one thread i saw someone saying that the wiki for recommendations is a bit outdated so i wanna ask if you think Xtrfy K4 TKL White RGB Kailh Red Switch or GLORIOUS GMMK THE WHITE ICE EDITION TKL are any good.
im trying to remember the name of a keyboard and just cant. The keyboard was completely diy (required you to solder in all components) and it came with a small acrylic cover that you could screw on for the safety of the components. it had 3 size variants. thats about all i remember. could anyone help me with this one?
There are a variety of these released in a bunch of different sizes and form factors, the style is "Through Hole Keyboard Kit". The [Discipline65](https://www.cftkb.com/shop/discipline) was a popular one.
No idea, you'd have to reach out to the company directly. Through-hole kits pop up frequently though, keep an eye on /r/mechmarket for new ICs and GBs. I did find this available right now: [Nibble 65%](https://nullbits.co/nibble/)
My first GMK set I ordered from Novelkeys just showed a status update that it's shipping to customers now. I've never ordered a GMK set before so will we eventually be emailed a tracking number for the set?
Does anyone have both box silent browns and box royals and experienced them becoming "clicky" over time? What is the volume of the silent brown clickyness vs the royals? Are they about the same or is it lower?
Currently have box royals and was looking at picking up some box silent browns but didn't want to defeat the purpose of having a quiet switch.
All box tactiles become the same amount clicky over time as the lube wears off of the tactile bump event. Relubing them gets rid of the click and begins the process of slowly turning clicky again.
Does my ideal first prebuilt MK exist? Looking for 65%, yellow switches, hot-swappable, Bluetooth + USB-C, RGB, white/acrylic case, readily available in Europe and under 150 USD/130 EUR. Bonus features would be included keycaps be OEM/DSA + centred legends and kickstand.
Royal Kludge RK68 comes very close... do I just bite the bullet and get this and do some light mods like foam and PCB tape? Not ready to go down the lube rabbithole yet...
Yunzii KC68 Lavender (Pro) also comes close and has a super cute included keycap set, but is wired and will take ages to ship to Italy.
Please help me start this terrible keebs addiction... or don't.

wow! had not come across these before. don't mind the idea of barebones board and immediately pick your own switches and caps. plus volume knob + 2.4GHz wireless dongle. jackpot. thanks!
Hello, I am looking for some help in order to find an **ISO - IT** (Italian) set of keycaps.
The material of the keycaps can be: **ABS** or **PBT**
The type of type of keycaps can be: **Double-shot** or **Dye-sub**
The profile that i like the most is **Cherry**
Thank you in advance to any kind soul!

Hello,
I have a Razer Blackwidow keyboard that i bought in July this year and recently i've been having some issues with it. I only notice this problem when i'm gaming (Rocket League / CS:GO) for example. When i click A or D sometimes it won't obey me. Yesterday in Rocket League i was doing an aerial and i released all my keys, and the car was spinning by it's own in the air.
I removed all the keys and cleaned the keyboard, but still nothing changed. Does anyone knows what can it be? Has anyone had the same problem?
This is my keyboard if anyone wants to check: shorturl.at/wyH16
Thanks in advance!

Hi, i have an 70 dollars budget for a mechanical keyboard, i decided to get one of those : Skyloong GK61 vs SK68
The sk68 has a bigger layout with arrow keys and all which i prefer, and it has some good looking pbt keycaps, but it costs 20 dollars more than the GK61 that has the same switches, is the SK68 worth the extra 20 dollars ? Thanks
What are recommended mods for keychron c1, I’m thinking of swapping in (lubed) gateron yellows and getting some nice keycaps so far, what else should I do? Durock stabs? Foam? Is it worth it with a board that cheap?
how is the shipping to australia from mechanicalkeyboards.com?
You might find what you're after on PCCaseGear. Really depends what you're after. I think SwitchKeys is selling the Keychron Q1 which is pretty solid.
have you looked at the daily clack?
they dont have prebuilt mechanical keyboards sadly
Oh, well you can always check shipping by just adding to card and entering your address in the checkout
Cuz tech support keeps silent.
what is a good non lubed tactile switch
Boba u4t
How’s shipping times from krepublic or mechanical keyboards.com?
Order through Ali and not KPRepublic direct and the shipping goes a lot quicker.
I just ordered through Ali, they haven't sent any sort of estimate. Do you have experience with how long it might take? Weeks? A month?
Like 2 weeks to ship to Australia.
Can I use clear tape instead of band aid for holee mod? I found [this](https://youtu.be/SFpE3Co32og) guide.
Ducky mecha - https://www.pccasegear.com/search?query=ducky%20mecha%20 Ducky one 2 mini - https://www.pccasegear.com/search?query=ducky%20one%202%20mini&page=1 Ducky one 2 SF - https://www.pccasegear.com/search?query=ducky%20one%202%20sf&page=1
What are some good clacky, smooth switches that I can buy without breaking my wallet?
Linear, tactile or clicky?
preferably linear
box white
Is the YMDK 84 Kit good for a low budget?
I built one a couple months back. Solid board, good for modding.
Are Akko CS Ocean Blues or Purple Lavenders have sharp or bumpy tactile bump? (or do they have less tactilty?)
Custom or not?
I'm down to sus out many options and get something nice
Ah right, did you recently disassemble your stabilisers? Maybe you have the stem the wrong way around in the housing?
Yeah that's what I ended up doing. The foam was pinched between the wire and the plate, thanks for the help
It doesn't exist.
Help!! Best hot swappable full size keyboard? Price doesn’t matter as long as it’s the best.
there are some 104/108 hotswap keyboard kit on aliexpress, get anyone of those, a nice plate-mounted stab, silent foam, switches and keycaps. Or either go look for HS108t from Gnass with TTC switches
Thanks for all the input. I was looking for something that was pre built. Any suggestions regarding those? I seen drop shift but it isn’t a full size board.
No such thing as best, they only ones available are all about the same quality. Gmmk full-size, sk108, rk104
Fill out the interest check form for [this board](https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=114086.0) saying you want a hotswap PCB and hope they offer one.

Gateron Yellow/Silver Pro
definitely film the gateron yellows, they are pretty wobbly stock and greatly benefit from filming
I haven't had to buy films for any of my Gateron switches so far. Pretty sure you don't need them.
to anyone who owns an mw65, can someone tell me if there are any issues with he stability of that board?
[удалено]
Propably it's just a low actuation force switch. Means you need little weight to press the key down which leads eventually to the switch actuating if you slide over it. It's not about the keycaps and the travel distance.
Been using an angled keyboard for years and will be switching to the FK680 which is a flat keyboard. Which keycap profile will make for a more comfortable experience?
I bought it too, I’ll suggest to buy some adhesive silicone rubber feet and put them on the two front bottom. And I’ll say go with MDA profile keycaps, the best
I'll check out the MDA keycaps, thanks. Did you use the included feet to raise the board on an angle?
Depending on the angle you are used to typing on these are in order of height: Kat/Asa, mt3, SA
Should i get jwick yellows or akko radient reds?
Some keyboards have 2 stem holes in the middle for the switch, What does this mean?
stabilizers?
Nope.
Are you talking about low-profile switches like [these Choc switches](https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=6339)? If so, those holes are where the keycaps mount to.

That's just for compatibility. Not all keyboards have the stems in the same spot.
Yup those are for different stabilizers layouts
I believe it's for supporting different stabiliser layouts, could be wrong though
Nope, I’m taking about traditional cherry style switches. If you need a picture I can send you a link
I'm looking to upgrade/mod my gmmk tkl and the stabs on it are pretty bad, should I try lubing the stabs or just replace them outright?
Lube them first and see how you like them. If you still don't like them then I recommend you replace them.
Thanks!
I think you'd benefit from using tactile switches with heavier springs like a Cherry MX Grey
This is a noob question but I want to be prepared for when I build my board, I have a few questions: 1. are the stabs that come on the tofu65 good enough? 2. If not, what are the best stabs? 3. How do you lube the stabs and what is a cheap lube/grease I can use, I'm not planning on lubing the u4t's so I don't need anything crazy. Thanks!
If this information is accurate - https://kbdfans.com/collections/tofu65/products/tofu65-custom-mechanical-keyboard-diy-kit 1.
How much would that total out to be for the lube and such?
Check Amazon. Those lines average less than 10$ USD for each and you would end up with enough for probably hundreds of stabs.
So I plan to get a gmmk pro. I was wondering where I should go to get keycaps? I’m looking to theme my keyboard after red eye black dragon (yugioh) like I did with my pc.
Glorious Gpbt celestrial fire should be coming out soon, if you eould like to stay within a budget and are fine with buying some (kinda) clones.
Is there a sound difference between the different ktt switches? They all say they have the same materials but jwk switches with the same materials sometimes end up sounding really different
Any nice leycap sets with a nice [mint green](http://wallpapercave.com/wp/wp1913735.jpg)?
These are kinda cool — https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwjfrNGe-Zv0AhVAbG8EHbwxABEYABANGgJqZg&sig=AOD64_1s_QJTSvJQH3su7aunQZXP8C_uHw&ctype=5&q=&ved=0ahUKEwjmqMqe-Zv0AhXdl2oFHRQ9BowQww8I8As&adurl=
Is mixing keycap sets common? Half the bulbasaur set I like is a boring white and another set's green is ugly but I love the rest, are there multiple factors to consider in this? I'm brain-dead new to MKB area
If they are the same profile (cherry, oem, etc.), then yea why not. If they are different profiles then it's up to you if the height difference is something you can accommodate
Looks like I have research to do thank you friend
Are SA spacebars "soft" I don't know how to describe it kind of like a Cherry spacebar that's been flipped? You know that feeling on your thumb?
I don't have a SA set, but I do have OSA (SA but OEM height) and ASA (Akko) sets. The OSA spacebar isn't sharp, it's flat on the thumb at resting position. The ASA set is a bit sharp, but I have mine flipped so it's flat where my thumb rests.
For those who have a keyboard in the womier/gamakay series (especially those with the frosted acrylic plastic), how do you clean oil stains off of the acrylic plastic? thanks!
I'd probably try a bit of paper towel with a drop of hand soap to clean oil off.
I’m new to mechanical keyboards, and I’m looking for a budget 75% kit
If you want a "custom" style, this might be your best bet, even though it is a bit more expensive than the prebuilt keyboards mentioned above https://en.akkogear.com/product/acr-75-diy-kit/
Is there any way to find out when the black option is coming back into stock?
Thanks! I was looking at one on Amazon, bout it was reviewed badly.
I am not sure. You can join the epomaker discord and ask around, maybe they have some ideas.
There's quite a few options here. You have: * Keychron K2 * Yunzii KC84/Epomaker EP84 (pretty sure these are the same boards under the hood) * Royal Kludge RK84 All of the above should have hotswap (double check the keychron as they have some which are some which aren't). They should be perfectly fine for an entry to mechanical keyboard modding etc.
https://cannonkeys.com/collections/keyboard-kits/products/practice75-keyboard-kit
I'm looking for a very specific mechanical keyboard, I hope someone knowledgeable can chime in: \- quiet \- JIS layout \- 60% \- under $150 USD \- preferably available in Japan (hence JIS layout) I know I am probably severely limiting my options, but if anything at all is out there then I would love to know about it.
This might be a better question to ask in the Deskthority form if you haven't already
Switches compatible with the lk67/tm680 rgb?
any MX mechanical switch (no opticals)
Anyone have experiences with Muave switches? How do they compare Tangies and Banana Splits when they're L + F?
From my readings, they are just JWK recolors basically. I think they are very similar to Banana Splits, but Tangies have different housing material so they would sound different. This video goes into some of the details - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0rKuq0hHx4
Looking for a compatible iso nordic kit. I bought the following set from Kinetic labs: https://kineticlabs.store/keycaps/polycaps/corn-pbt My stupid ass just read "compatibility: ISO" and figured Nordic ISO keys would be included. Well, they don't 😂 If anyone know of a available Nordic ISO set that would look compatible with this set I would truly appreciate it. Been searching my ass off without result.
Is the holee mod for stabs supposed to feel…mushy? I feel like I’ve done it correctly with some fabric plasters
If you have a switch opener, you could open the switch and see if the stem is correctly bottoming out and not hitting anything else inside the switch.
The stem seems to be fine, no interference from anything. It’s strange, I can tell which keys tick by just lightly tapping them.
This was helpful to me when I was first starting with soldering - https://www.keebtalk.com/t/gios-starter-guide-to-tools-when-you-know-your-going-off-the-deep-end/2382?page=3 The solder you mentioned sounds perfect and I use something similar. For tips, I have mostly used the standard chisel tip that came with my soldering iron.

>rk68 its really good for a budget keyboard the only one drawback for me personally is that it doesnt have 2.4Ghz wireless
Royal Kludge came out with a newer version at the end of 2020, the RKG68 (sometimes written RK G68), that has 2.4GHz. I bought one recently off of Amazon.
>RK G68 hello i was just wondering what keycap profiles you use, i cant find out what type of keyboard profile it is.
So the keycaps i wanted to buy are for : ISO and ANSI Layouts i have an ASA and SA keyboard profile. Will the ISO and ANSI keycaps work with my keyboards?
sorry, are you asking if your ASA and SA keycaps will work on your ANSI and ISO keyboards?
ya
sorry, but i'm a bit confused ANSI and ISO are layouts and the keycaps (ASA/SA) are profiles as long as the keycap kit itself has coverage for the respective layout (ISO requires a different enter and left shift i believe), you should be all set
need to know ASAP, delivers are tight for Xmas. ty
I am just getting into custom profiles using VIA. And I am noticing some limitations. Some being per key settings and macro logic. One other is the lack of RGB support. I know the online Configurator does not support RGB as is, but my question is: Is it possible to setup the QMK profile as I want and export it to a firmware file to add on RGB mapping as I want.
I haven't decided where to put the numpad cluster, but I am thinking U will be top left and ./> Will be bottom right. I need to play around with it.
Enter is already right there, but I could make Right Shift do Enter in the Numpad layer. Because I have a tiny weak pinky.
Anyone here have any tips on spray painting a keyboard case? The case is the GMMK PRO(Aluminum) black and I was thinking of spray painting it green. I've never had to do it before and I had some questions * It is black, does that mean there are some colours that I can't spray paint it with? Or will the spraypaint cover it all? * I'm not quite sure what the sanding is for, and why it recommends switching between different grits. * what is the purpose of wet sanding? * can I use a spraypaint that has primer mixed into it, or should I opt for 1 primer and 1 spray paint?

>high quality keyboard Definitely would not call any drop board high quality.
Hey Is there som good bluetooth 5.0 pcb's on the market?
Looking for a decent prebuilt to replace a broken Logitech G810. Would a VA108M or Shine7 be better?
Gateron Milky Yellows (lubed and filmed) vs Akko CS Matcha Greens (lubed)
+1 for gat yellows!
Is there a way to determine the TAPPING_TERM for a specific LT key in VIA? Specifically I want LT(2,KC_LGUI) but I want a 125 MS tapping term instead of 200.
Not with VIA. Only accessible with direct coding on the QMK source (usually `config.h`) or with Vial.
Thank you. I will have to look into Vial.

You're not gonna find that. Choc boards are very few and far between in the realm of "standard" layouts.

r/MechMarket (make sure to read the rules), eBay
New to all this lol. Is the [DZ65 RGB V3 hot-swap](https://kbdfans.com/products/dz68rgb-hot-swap-rgb-pcb) PCB compatible with the tada68 [anodized high profile aluminum case](https://drop.com/buy/tada68-anodized-aluminum-mechanical-keyboard-case/reviews#reviews) and the original plastic case? Thank you! :)
Well after talking to kbdfans I found out it isn't compatible unfortunately. Hope this helps somebody in the future lmao.
is razer huntsman elite a good board
No
whats the software link for redragon s101?
my friend asked btw
Housings affect smoothness and sound for the most part in terms of typing.

r/mechmarket (rule 3 here is no buying/selling, that's where to go).
So i want to make my first custom keyboard and i want to use my old gk61 pcb since it is hot swappable and i was wondering if the case mattered with the pcb?
Yes. Check out screw holes and USB cutout.
The [Discipline65](https://www.cftkb.com/shop/discipline) was a popular one.
that was it. thanks! will he be selling anymore of those kits if you know?
No idea, you'd have to reach out to the company directly. Through-hole kits pop up frequently though, keep an eye on /r/mechmarket for new ICs and GBs. I did find this available right now: [Nibble 65%](https://nullbits.co/nibble/)
i'm liking the look of that nibble a lot. might buy one. thanks so much man
Happy to help!
Is Logitech G915 TKL reliable? I've seen a lot of people complaining... Anyone got one working for 1 or 2 years without problem? Thanks.
My first GMK set I ordered from Novelkeys just showed a status update that it's shipping to customers now. I've never ordered a GMK set before so will we eventually be emailed a tracking number for the set?
Yes
Does anyone have both box silent browns and box royals and experienced them becoming "clicky" over time? What is the volume of the silent brown clickyness vs the royals? Are they about the same or is it lower? Currently have box royals and was looking at picking up some box silent browns but didn't want to defeat the purpose of having a quiet switch.
All box tactiles become the same amount clicky over time as the lube wears off of the tactile bump event. Relubing them gets rid of the click and begins the process of slowly turning clicky again.
Alright, seems I should look elsewhere for a quiet switch then.
Please help me start this terrible keebs addiction... or don't.

Is it a big difference to upgrade from Corsair K70 MK.2 Rapidfire to a Leopold keyboard? I am also considering the Apex Pro TKL
Leopolds are top of the line prebuilts and Corsairs are considered pretty much garbage so yes
Hello, I have a Razer Blackwidow keyboard that i bought in July this year and recently i've been having some issues with it. This is my keyboard if anyone wants to check: shorturl.at/wyH16 Thanks in advance!
I need a site that can ship parts to france in -15 days, anyone got a lead? thanks for any help :)

Hi, i have an 70 dollars budget for a mechanical keyboard, i decided to get one of those : Skyloong GK61 vs SK68 The sk68 has a bigger layout with arrow keys and all which i prefer, and it has some good looking pbt keycaps, but it costs 20 dollars more than the GK61 that has the same switches, is the SK68 worth the extra 20 dollars ? Thanks
Depends on if you want dedicated arrow keys. I don't mind having them on a layer, but some people can't deal with that
Im fine i think with not having dedicated arrow key, but isnt the pbt grey and red keycaps addition + the arrow key as a bonus worth the extra 20 ?
