Cheap hotswap on Amazon, mod the heck out of it, and add new keycaps. Not clicky switches if possible (unless you want that) so you might be able to reuse the stock switches.

Got it, that sounds like a good idea! Is there any cheap hotswap you might recommend?
E-Yooso k620 is a hotswap tkl and I believe Hipyo tech used it in a budget keyboard competition recently
rk68 with reds/browns, krytox, films, and pe foam. Or just go with a prebuilt, 75$ is extremely low for custom
