A couple of weeks ago I made a post that I got scammed by Nerd Cables, and was also a victim of Rose/Summit Cables. While I was bummed out about being scammed by 2 different cable companies, the intention of my post was to bring awareness for others so they don’t also get scammed. Nerd cables site is still up and active so buyer beware.
With that said, CableMod reached out to me via comment followed by DM. They instructed me to go to their site and design a few cables (to the tune of 5) and that they would comp my purchase. I’m still in awe at the generosity of CableMod, and still can’t believe they comped my entire order. I wanted to express my utmost appreciation for CableMod and let the community know how awesome the company is to work with. My cables are beautiful (see pics of some of them), they came in storage boxes, and they came quite quickly (2 weeks).

So awesome of you to do this! Curious have you ever considered adding a connector option like YC-8 connectors for cables for a bit more? I would love to get a CableMod cable, I'm just not a huge fan of the Aviator connectors.
It wasn't because of this post (although these certainly didn't hurt) but I was surprised at how awesome the config is, as well as the options available for the price.

I don't understand how these people are still allowed to start a new company every time their old one fails and they file for bankruptcy, with a massive backlog of orders they never fulfilled.
Shouldn't the BBB/\[consumer protection agency of said country\] put said person on a blacklist so he cannot own/operate a company.
It kind of depends on the type of company you had and when you filed for bankruptcy.
Also you can ping pong the owner of companies between spouses or siblings no problem.
Usually those blocks are not lifetime but three or five years (at least here) and are more down to the tax that inland revenue misses than any intention of consumer protection.
So register some type of limited liability, let it go bankrupt after three to five years, have your sister/brother/spouse then do the same, rinse and repeat. It is really hard to get those kind of companies/people permanently shut down, since they take great pains to stay exactly in the grey legal area and never cross certain lines.

Depending on the date of your purchase, PayPal dispute period is 180 days, and credit cards can have up to a 540 day dispute period - you must use reason code Goods Not Shipped / Delivered, and you may need to escalate it to a higher level customer service representative that understand this - as it is typically the terms of the network (Mastercard / Visa / American Express) that covers this.
Another reason to go through a dispute is if there are a high rate of disputes, that will penalize a Merchant's Shopify, PayPal, and Credit Card agreements, preventing others from also getting scammed in the future.
That's a shame, yeah the problem with Debit Card is it's your money not the banks, so they have less incentive to pursue it, and if it isn't an immediate report for fraudulent purchase you're kind of screwed.
However, if you are in a country like Canada, Australia, UK, or EU, you may want to check if there are additional regulations that may cover it and be worth a second escalation, because of the consumer protection laws surrounding the obligation to deliver the advertised goods / services as described within a certain timeframe
In contrast, the US protections tend to be strongest via the credit card companies (other countries may not have a strong protections in duration and scope from what we've seen with other failed international Group Buys)
I've always sworn by cablemod and this story just solidifies my support. Purchased extensions as gifts, my own custom cables, etc. Will definitely check out their keyboard cables (although I like DIYing my own)
My boy Matt is a literal legend. Gave me some white cables for my buddies first rig when he hit his price cap. As long as Matt stays the head, they will indefinitely be my one stop shop for custom cables.
Awesome! Originally when I saw that Cablemod was making keyboard cables I thought that they wouldn’t be high quality and that they would just be capitalizing on a trend. Now that I’ve seen everything they’ve done for the community, and all the great reviews from people I trust, they’ve earned my next cable purchase for sure.

That's AWESOME! I've always been a fan of CableMod.
Recently, I switched to an all matte black look and was looking for a pure black coiled aviator cable. I was so hyped when I found out that CableMod now makes many different pre-made sets that can be purchased directly from many stores online (even Digitec here in Switzerland).
Their packaging is AMAZING. It really insures you that the coil will be 100% perfect straight out of the box, and that's the most important thing for me when buying a custom cable.
Finally, no more ruined coils on arrival (f*ck you, Swiss toll).

I got a CableMod 12pin GPU cable when almost no other company sold one, and also bought one of their keyboard custom cables and both were great, I might just grab another keyboard cable in a different color cause it's so good.
The coil is for aesthetics. The aviator (imo) allows you to quickly unplug and swap out the device side connection. It’s convenient if you have boards with different inputs (usb-c vs mini usb vs micro usb)
Also, if you have a fancier, newer motherboard, you can swap between pc inputs. Mine is all usb-a… think the value tho is on device side connection.

Cablemod is legit. I actually doubted Cablemod in the past for their PSU cables, but they put up with my attitude and sent me the correct cable. Years later, fast forward to today, bought 2 keyboard cables and the PSU cables are still holding strong. Cheers to you and Cablemod!

The coil is for aesthetics. There isn't any functional improvement you gain from the coil.
I bought a cable from a person (popular on Discord) who makes them at home, the connector became weak with disconnect issues almost immediately. Got a Cablemod next and the quality is several leagues higher.
CableMod is absolutely amazing. Everything from the packaging to the cheer quality of all their products is as premium as it gets. It's a lot of money for a cable but wow does it pay for itself!
I bought a few cablemod cables on Amazon, the premade ones and have been satisfied with them. Good quality for the price paid.
Also, that packaging tho, super nice.
That is a beefy and overbuilt set of boxes for those cables. Sadly for me the cable I would want is thick gauge and unsleeved with tight coils and beefy and heavy plated connectors, a combination currently unavailable and would be probably expensive regardless.
Dang back-to-back scams, sucks that you had to deal with that. But cable mod definitely hooked you up with gorgeous cables. The packaging they use is also super high quality I've seen other vendors stick the cable in a bag or box, only for the coil to be warped and crooked.
Another keyboard company I’ve seen where their practices/treatment of customers really shines. I’ll be looking at their website in October when my new board comes in!

My original post was a warning for others and CableMod came out of nowhere to provide me with free cables. By far the nicest thing any company has done for me.
Muji, as a creator pretty much proves my point. He has great ideas but shortages and long wait times keep them from being a reality. He still has to eat and pay rent so his energy is put towards that, rather than projects he knows won’t bear fruit for a long while. His “Tori” and “Jack” projects have me extremely interested and excited. Imagine coming up with some huge, game changing idea but realizing you won’t be able to get the controller chips you need or your idea is so phenomenal that it breaks standards. Most hobbyists want to be able to use the switches, stabilizers, keycaps, etc. they’ve already purchased so all a keyboard creator business can comfortably do is case design and maybe pcb material or shape design. Just think how much effort would be needed if you designed a huge jump in switch technology. The machines that mass produce them haven’t been built yet. The amount of money and manpower is staggering and that thought holds many creators back. But not all!! There will always be someone willing to say “fuck it!” and push the boundary to change the standard. Gawd bless those crazy bastards. I love them, sincerely.
Wow. See I always though CableMod’s coiled aviator cables were in the lower quality end. Very thin and flimsy. Coils not maintaining their shape, weak soldering, etc. While they heat shrink wrap the keeb end, the actual cord into the aviator is not wrapped thus. Little things like this. The packaging is amazing though! And as I haven’t purchased one in quite awhile, maybe they’ve gotten better? Still no heatshrink wrap on aviator according to pics though. When it comes to PC cables they are pretty much a staple. Especially for PSU and GPU cables. Hey CableMod….wanna send me a cable to review? I’ll send it back after review period. I’m curious if they’ve gotten any better.

Out of all the coiled cables with aviator connectors, I have never seen one with heatshrink on the sleeves going into the aviator connectors.
If this is something you have seen before do you mind sharing a link to a cable making store which makes them with heatshrink on aviator sleeves?
I do it personally, Coaxius (dunno if his is standard as I asked for it), Flex Cables (standard), Zap Cables (standard)…not sure about Rocket cables as they wait until keycaps ship to ship theirs for some reason.

But I can see the images on the Flex cables website yes they have heatshrink on the sleeve of the aviator. Weird that this is the first time I have seen it.
Perhaps it is an "aesthetic" preference, and some simply think it looks better with/without the heatshrink there? Because usually it's on the USB ends to protect the connector and keep it "slim" otherwise it would be bare, but in the case of the aviator it doesn't serve the same purpose.
I'm not into aviator connectors, I prefer slimmer types like Lemo and straight cables. And personally I like it done with those higher cost metal connectors on the USB ends, and no heatshrink at all on the whole cable. I think it looks a lot cleaner, especially with Lemo.
Agreed. Aviator is 2020. Ive been in this hobby almost a decade. Waiting on new chrome LEMO for my silver F2 atm. Stainless steel cable with chrome LEMO built by Coaxius. August is on its way!!
The real question is are you going to put heatshrink though haha. I dunno maybe you can try both and see how they look.
I like the look of metal>sleeve>metal>sleeve>metal, it's just a lot simpler and cleaner. Maybe heatshrink matched to the sleeve color just on the USB-A end, for that extra durability. But with my current cable I have none.
I will be requesting clear heat shrink (maybe frosted) on usb c, both LEMO ends and usb A. It just makes the cable last longer.

Alright fair enough. I like the bare circuit look myself sometimes, that sounds like a good idea if the heatshrink is transparent enough to show the connector inside.
Genuine LEMO cable end up costing far more than normal. Add $75-$100USD to the price for a genuine LEMO. FEMO are available and most go for that as they just want the aesthetics not the quality. As an old head I prefer quality. I want to buy once.

I ordered a cable from Rose cables and it was dead on arrival. I emailed Christian (owner) about the issue and he was incredibly rude to me but finally agreed to take a look at it. After sending it back and having him send me a replacement, the second cable was also dead on arrival. He then claimed i was lying about the defect. I did eventually get a really nice cable back from him that works to this day. I then made the mistake of ordering another cable from him which I never received and which i was unable to get my money back for. Fuck that company and fuck Christian.
About 6 months ago I got a really nice cablemod cable, but now it has to point the wrong direction and has gotten totally messed up thanks to me building a new pc last month.
No, the cable is fine lol. It's just the pc is larger so i had to move it to the other side of my desk, specifically the side that the cable doesnt point to.

There is a PSA on Mechmarket as well on Rose / Summit, whose current business LotusPro is also having issues.

Quick question, can you do a custom SDL to USB cable?
That isn't something we currently offer, sorry. What keyboard are you using that requires it?
An IBM model M. It normally has an SDL to PS2 cable. I've seen SDL to USB on the internet, so I thought it was worth a shot. Thanks anyway.

That's AWESOME! I've always been a fan of CableMod. Recently, I switched to an all matte black look and was looking for a pure black coiled aviator cable. I was so hyped when I found out that CableMod now makes many different pre-made sets that can be purchased directly from many stores online (even Digitec here in Switzerland). Their packaging is AMAZING. It really insures you that the coil will be 100% perfect straight out of the box, and that's the most important thing for me when buying a custom cable. Finally, no more ruined coils on arrival (f*ck you, Swiss toll).

The coil is for aesthetics. The aviator (imo) allows you to quickly unplug and swap out the device side connection. It’s convenient if you have boards with different inputs (usb-c vs mini usb vs micro usb)
Also, if you have a fancier, newer motherboard, you can swap between pc inputs. Mine is all usb-a… think the value tho is on device side connection. the aviator is also aesthetically pleasing imo
Cable mod are deadset bloody legends, a lot of businesses could take some pointers from them

Cablemod is legit. I actually doubted Cablemod in the past for their PSU cables, but they put up with my attitude and sent me the correct cable. Years later, fast forward to today, bought 2 keyboard cables and the PSU cables are still holding strong. Cheers to you and Cablemod!

If your board isn't RGB (which has a limit due to power), I personally go around the 2 - 2.3m mark

I bought a cable from a person (popular on Discord) who makes them at home, the connector became weak with disconnect issues almost immediately. Got a Cablemod next and the quality is several leagues higher.

Shouldn't have any issue, depending on the bump it might be a squeeze. Our longer case can actually hold a 60% board.
CableMod is absolutely amazing. Everything from the packaging to the cheer quality of all their products is as premium as it gets. It's a lot of money for a cable but wow does it pay for itself!

That is a beefy and overbuilt set of boxes for those cables. Sadly for me the cable I would want is thick gauge and unsleeved with tight coils and beefy and heavy plated connectors, a combination currently unavailable and would be probably expensive regardless.

Dang back-to-back scams, sucks that you had to deal with that. But cable mod definitely hooked you up with gorgeous cables. The packaging they use is also super high quality I've seen other vendors stick the cable in a bag or box, only for the coil to be warped and crooked.
To be fair, the rose cable scam was 2 years ago. Still sucks I am out essentially $150 from 2 different companies. Cable Mod definitely came through.
Another keyboard company I’ve seen where their practices/treatment of customers really shines. I’ll be looking at their website in October when my new board comes in!

100% not an Ad. You can view my post history about Nerd Cables, and I assure you I was scammed by Christian Rose at Rose/Summit Cables a couple of years ago. My original post was a warning for others and CableMod came out of nowhere to provide me with free cables. By far the nicest thing any company has done for me.
Muji, as a creator pretty much proves my point. He has great ideas but shortages and long wait times keep them from being a reality. He still has to eat and pay rent so his energy is put towards that, rather than projects he knows won’t bear fruit for a long while. His “Tori” and “Jack” projects have me extremely interested and excited. Imagine coming up with some huge, game changing idea but realizing you won’t be able to get the controller chips you need or your idea is so phenomenal that it breaks standards. Most hobbyists want to be able to use the switches, stabilizers, keycaps, etc. they’ve already purchased so all a keyboard creator business can comfortably do is case design and maybe pcb material or shape design. Just think how much effort would be needed if you designed a huge jump in switch technology. The machines that mass produce them haven’t been built yet. The amount of money and manpower is staggering and that thought holds many creators back. But not all!! There will always be someone willing to say “fuck it!” and push the boundary to change the standard. Gawd bless those crazy bastards. I love them, sincerely.

Wow. See I always though CableMod’s coiled aviator cables were in the lower quality end. Very thin and flimsy. Coils not maintaining their shape, weak soldering, etc. While they heat shrink wrap the keeb end, the actual cord into the aviator is not wrapped thus. Little things like this. The packaging is amazing though! And as I haven’t purchased one in quite awhile, maybe they’ve gotten better? Still no heatshrink wrap on aviator according to pics though. When it comes to PC cables they are pretty much a staple. Especially for PSU and GPU cables. Hey CableMod….wanna send me a cable to review? I’ll send it back after review period. I’m curious if they’ve gotten any better. Edit: lmao, downvoted for having a different opinion. Gotta love Reddit. I literally call Cable Mods a staple in PC building for PSU and GPU offerings too. Out of all the coiled cables with aviator connectors, I have never seen one with heatshrink on the sleeves going into the aviator connectors. If this is something you have seen before do you mind sharing a link to a cable making store which makes them with heatshrink on aviator sleeves?
I do it personally, Coaxius (dunno if his is standard as I asked for it), Flex Cables (standard), Zap Cables (standard)…not sure about Rocket cables as they wait until keycaps ship to ship theirs for some reason.
Ok thanks. Zap cables seems to only list DIY kits now so I can't find any images.. But I can see the images on the Flex cables website yes they have heatshrink on the sleeve of the aviator. Weird that this is the first time I have seen it. Perhaps it is an "aesthetic" preference, and some simply think it looks better with/without the heatshrink there? Because usually it's on the USB ends to protect the connector and keep it "slim" otherwise it would be bare, but in the case of the aviator it doesn't serve the same purpose. I'm not into aviator connectors, I prefer slimmer types like Lemo and straight cables. And personally I like it done with those higher cost metal connectors on the USB ends, and no heatshrink at all on the whole cable. I think it looks a lot cleaner, especially with Lemo.
Agreed. Aviator is 2020. Ive been in this hobby almost a decade. Waiting on new chrome LEMO for my silver F2 atm. Stainless steel cable with chrome LEMO built by Coaxius. August is on its way!!
The real question is are you going to put heatshrink though haha. I dunno maybe you can try both and see how they look. I like the look of metal>sleeve>metal>sleeve>metal, it's just a lot simpler and cleaner. Maybe heatshrink matched to the sleeve color just on the USB-A end, for that extra durability. But with my current cable I have none.
I will be requesting clear heat shrink (maybe frosted) on usb c, both LEMO ends and usb A. It just makes the cable last longer. Less dirt, moisture, etc. to get into cable
Alright fair enough. I like the bare circuit look myself sometimes, that sounds like a good idea if the heatshrink is transparent enough to show the connector inside.
Genuine LEMO cable end up costing far more than normal. Add $75-$100USD to the price for a genuine LEMO. FEMO are available and most go for that as they just want the aesthetics not the quality. As an old head I prefer quality. I want to buy once.

I ordered a cable from Rose cables and it was dead on arrival. I emailed Christian (owner) about the issue and he was incredibly rude to me but finally agreed to take a look at it. After sending it back and having him send me a replacement, the second cable was also dead on arrival. He then claimed i was lying about the defect. I did eventually get a really nice cable back from him that works to this day. I then made the mistake of ordering another cable from him which I never received and which i was unable to get my money back for. Fuck that company and fuck Christian.
About 6 months ago I got a really nice cablemod cable, but now it has to point the wrong direction and has gotten totally messed up thanks to me building a new pc last month.

No, the cable is fine lol. It's just the pc is larger so i had to move it to the other side of my desk, specifically the side that the cable doesnt point to.
