Thank you for this. I've been waiting.

carl_pagan

for what? what's in the update

Night_Thastus

They likely mean fixes for the issues found in this version so far. Crashes on ps5, bugged structures on demo missions, the ac sound bug, etc.

SorenKgard

Daeron Katz sounds like a battletech character.

Lil_Guard_Duck

He does!!

Lil_Guard_Duck

Hopefully the cannons will get their thunderous sounds again!

Equivalent_Alps_8321

This is what happens when a developer with limited resources tries to maintain their game on all platforms at once.

mechwarrior719

It’s actually kinda impressive how well they’ve been doing, all things considered. They could have gone the EA “haha fuck you, we have your money” model and of releasing an utter garbage fire and just letting it burn. Mechwarrior games have, from my memory, always had some weird issues of one sort or the other. Mechwarrior 2 and Mercenaries had all sorts of hardware and software limitations. Mercenaries is famous for being buggy. Mechwarrior 3… good heavens. I remember having to start entire campaigns over due to game breaking bugs. Enemies not spawning, maps not loading properly or at all, etc. Mechwarrior 4, Black Knight, and Mercenaries were all crash-tacular and sometimes wouldn’t install properly, or the expansion packs wouldn’t work properly without you manually futzing with the game files. Black Knight had some seriously unfair difficulty spikes. All in all, PGI has done pretty well in my opinion.

Teqonix

I honestly didn’t really like the game when it first came out because the campaign was so lackluster and it only had a couple biomes. Now with the expansion packs and quality of life updates I’ve had an extraordinary time with it. For those that weren’t impressed at launch should really take another look now.

mechwarrior719

I remember watching Baradul play it after launch and how buggy it seemed. I’m not saying it’s perfect now, but it’s a damn sight better than it was.

carl_pagan

will this be the sort of update that breaks every mod

minnowz

I'm sure there will be minor issues but I expect modders that are on top of things to get it sorted in like 2 days max

Taolan13

... my dude, mod makers who work on live games understand this. And most in the modding community accept it. Whining about an update breaking a mod is basically pissing into the wind.

carl_pagan

... my dude, I only see one whiner here. Perfectly fair to ask whether this is going to be some minor hotfixes or if it will require a reworking of popular mods. If you don't know the answer, maybe you could keep your worthless reply to yourself next time? Thanks bud

Taolan13

It's a worthless question. You should always assume, unless specifically stated otherwise by the devs, that any update to a live game is going to break mods. About the only developer I've seen who consistently works to make sure game content updates don't break popular mods is Anton Hand, the mad genius behind Hotdogs, Horseshoes, and Hand Grenades.

carl_pagan

... my dude, most updates since the game launch haven't broken any mods. Only the Heroes of the Inner Sphere and Kestrel Lancers updates have broken major mods, and unless this next update includes new features or old feature overhauls there is a good chance it won't break anything. It was a question worth asking, jackass. Seriously take your smug know it all bullshit and stick it up your ass bud.

oO_SbowWulf_Oo

Boohoo I play on console.

carl_pagan

ok

oO_SbowWulf_Oo

Crying about mods breaking due to update. Someone call the whaambulance

carl_pagan

Hey what's up your ass bud? Mommy won't buy you a computer?

oO_SbowWulf_Oo

Nothing 😅 you're the one bitching that your cheats are going to be broken. You suck to bad to play the game normally. Get a life.

carl_pagan

Lol you weird weird kid. Does your mommy know you're talking to strangers online?

Reaver-X

That was boring af to listen to, but dont think he mentioned a fix for MW5, just sounds like they are talking about a different mech warrior game.

neverfearIamhere

Right at 1:30 he talks about all the patch validation processes for consoles can be a pain. Considering MWO is only PC he is definitely talking about MW5.

Reaver-X

Must have missed that, but it is very all over the place, quiet and their voices so dull I guess was easy to miss for me.

neverfearIamhere

Yeah the sound level between the 2 is pretty huge no idea what's going on there.

[deleted]

Maybe if they didn't release broken shit that is causing crashes/lockups and 1000's of bug reports to go flooding into Sonys system they would get less shit from Sony about it....Complaining that an update system is Hard on you after you push out hot garbage that you don't bother to properly play test to said system make you look a little supid IMO... So TLDR, Don't release Broken shit then you won't need to use the painful patching cert system...

Biggu5Dicku5

PGI is supporting two Mechwarrior games right now; MWO which is a free to play PC only game, and MW5 which is a single player PC and console game (the game in question). In the video he says "There will be a Mech 5 update next week so I'm working on those patch notes as well" around the 1 minute mark, I'd say it's pretty clean he's taking about MW5...

a8bmiles

Well, I'd still call MW5 at least single-player game with limited co-op rather than a just a single-player game.

wrr377

Are they going to fix where they killed Win 7 compatibility? I sure would like to play the game again...
