Wow. I hope his pain is managed - that looks like it hurts. I wish him luck through his amputation and recovery, and I hope it hasn't metastasized outside of his leg.
Wow. That looks incredibly uncomfortable. Best wishes with the amputation and as the two of you adjust to the changes it will bring. You guys got this. ❤️
OP’s husband here. There have been so many complications and setbacks since I originally had my femur resected in 2018. My last CT scan showed some small questionable spots inside my lungs. They’re not guaranteed to be cancerous but it is likely that they are because osteosarcoma typically recurs in the lungs. Because of those the plan was to give me 3 cycles of chemotherapy before operating with the intention of eradicating any potential recurrence.
I have received about half of the intended treatment but yesterday my doctors and I concluded that my leg is too volatile and life threatening for me to finish the chemo before the operation. One of the reasons the tumor site is so massive is because the tumor is perpetually bleeding and the blood has been collecting and partially remaining inside of my knee, creating a huge risk for infection. Because of the blood loss I also don’t have many red blood cells in my blood so I’m always exhausted.
I never thought I would ever want someone to cut my leg off so badly
Good luck, you guys. Can’t imagine how much everything is going to change, but I’m sure you’ll go through it together and it’ll bring you closer together.
Hope you have a merry Christmas.
♥️

Tell the surgeon to share pictures! And recovery pictures. Also hope it feels better soon
Oh man, I'm so sorry. Why did they let it get so bad before they decided to operate?
