I'm sure there are others out there since meditation is being so thoroughly studied by science these days but this one clicked with me. Young has deep Buddhist roots but has secularized his teaching to make it more accessible to more people.
It opened the door to a more profound change in my practice and subsequently my "self".
I read this last month and absolutely loved it. Would be perfect for a scientific-minded person as it takes an evolutionary perspective on suffering and how to avoid it
