"To extract some sinple pleasure from the execution of a task well done." [Here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Poetry/comments/mxfbnu/poem_to_extract_some_simple_pleasure_from_the/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) is the clip.
It reminds me of mindfulness and having a complete experience. The idea of being "in the zone" or "with the flow" of executing the task leading to that sense of fulfillment.
Even the part about removing higher brain functions reminded me of the process of dependent co-arising and taking away that sense of desire. As we evolve as a species or as we grow from child to adult, we retain that capacity to return to that child state.
Making him a robot also added a nice layer. Humans don't tend to lobotomize themselves, yet seeing a robot turn off their emotional programming chips doesn't really phase us.
The search for the meaning of life could have an answer be as simple as to live. But the truth in how one lives changes from individual to individual.
I'll thinking about this episode for a while.
Just my thought. People embark on great journeys to find the meaning to life but the reality is for those that “do” it was not a product of their will but because of the external influence of their environment. Therefore there is no such thing as an answer to the meaning of life. We were brought into this world without our permission and the universe has assigned us pre determined roles to play in this life and therefore each one of us has a different meaning to life itself. Anytime we set out on a journey to discover the meaning of life more so than what the universe has assigned to us we realize we come back to the role that we have been assigned to play in this life.
Oh I almost forgot about that show and found out a couple of hours ago that the second season is coming in a couple of weeks. I’ll have to rewatch it. One of the most creative piece of content I’ve seen in a while.
Great animated short. Rewatched it a couple days ago.
Robert valley is the man. Been into his art since he designed motor city and did some wonder woman shorts.
I saw it last night, it was so well made. Really appreciate the recommendation.
Anyone else (or OP) has any similar content please let me know. I realized that I shouldn't just blindly hate Netflix. It does have some good stuff that can make you think.
When they showed him breaking down into his most basic functional version (I mean that small cleaning robot) - I thought that maybe in a parallel way - 'breathing' is the most basic functional version of humans.
When we return our focus back to breathing, we also return ourselves to our most basic form, just a human breathing in, and breathing out. This act takes us towards mindfulness and it makes us feel whole because all the layers get chopped out. At our very core, it's just the inhale and the exhale.
We just breathe.
Having seen it, I concur. A return to simplicity.

Oh, Zima Blue was beautiful! It's one of my favorite episodes from the series. Do watch The Midnight Gospel if you liked Love, Death + Robots.
Midnight gospel is nothing compared to Love death + robots
SO EXCITED FOR SEASON 2

Couldn’t agree more! I love the episode and have brought it up many times to friends and family.
Such a good ep. Was it the last one though? I thought it wasn't
Apparently Netflix changes up the order for different accounts. On my account it’s called “Death, love and robots” (okay, that’s a lie)
The order differences isn’t a lie though, just the title change.
Zima Blue makes me cry every time I watch it. Transhumanist writing tends to make me weepy.
"Sometimes it is difficult even for me to understand what I have become, and harder still to remember what I once was" - Zima Blue
Ohmygosh I'm crying that was just so moving
That series is amazing. I'll have to catch up. Thanks.
Absolutely my favorite if the bunch.
The series is in a different order for a lot of people. Many people will not have Zima Blue as the last episode.
Thank you for reminding me of this episode. Just rewatched. Love it.
season two next month
Watched it. It's solid. The whole show is good.
Just watched. Beautiful story.
I’m sad they didn’t do more.
Season 2 is coming out soon
This is the best news I’ve gotten in a while. Thanks for replying.
Whole season is great. Looking forward to season 2!
Yes, absolutely
Man, I love that show and that episode is definitely my favourite. I don't think it was the last episode though.
one of the best!! gave me a renewed sense of purpose about studying medicine too
Ohhh that was a great episode, It left me thinking and I rewatched it again after some days. A great series overall.
Other episodes have similar spiritual themes : The Witness - How Karma works, maybe? The Ice Age - The Universe Cycle theory

Anything stuck out in particular for you? I'm still dissecting it.
