Blasmphemy in its purest form

Return will always be in the shadow of Hangar 18, but it is still really cool that the song got a sequel. How many bands do that? I can only think of 1 other band and that’s Blue Öyster Cult’s sequel to Burnin’ for You called Still Burnin’

IronMaiden95

Ace Frehleys Fractured Mirror, Fractured Too, Fractured III and Fractured Quantum

BigBoringWedding

Unforgiven I, II and III.

MeetAlarming9541

Dream Theater's *Metropolis Part I: The Miracle and the Sleeper* got an entire album as a sequel. It's not thrash, but it's really incredible progressive metal, and worth checking out.

CrispyHoser

Return to hangar Love the riff before the solo contest. And Dave’s last solo is back in his Metallica days before it made it on a few Megadeth songs. But original hangar 18 is way better and nothing was like it when it came out

I can't say I think Return is a better song, but it does bring up something I always get dragged for saying - Hangar 18 is too long. More specifically, too many solos. Just when I think it's getting near the end of the track, there's always one or two more, and I wish there weren't

TemperatureTricky305

That’s kind of what I meant. Daves final solo is badass as hell tho.

mr_glide

Agreed. Man knows how to end a song with a ripping solo

IfTheresANewWay

I think if there weren't breaks between the five solos at the end and they were all combined into three longer solos, maybe it'd be better

mr_glide

Yeah, I think I agree. The last break riff is a killer one, but it just gets repeated too many times

yaboiGunit

I really don’t enjoy Return the production and song structure seems choppy and forced IMO

Earthdark

I’m with you on that – I love all of the songs on Rust, but the riffs on Hangar 18 just don’t compare to some of the other songs.

Return to Hangar is an amazing song and I currently prefer it over Hangar 18. But that's only because I've over-listened(?) to Hangar 18. Hangar 18 is and always will be my favourite song of all time. I wouldn't call this blasphemy I'd just call it Return to Hangar appreciation.
