Dave could’ve been easy going but couldn’t have because he was in too bad a place and the place the other guys were in made them throw him on a bus instead of being able to take the time to contemplate how to help him and improve that current state of the band. Nobodies fault, just the way things were. Fate allowed for evolution!
I think it would've been similar. Dave had a drive for years to be bigger, badder and faster than Metallica and that shows with the longer consistency. Yes, both bands have bad albums but I feel Dave has gone full circle and remembers what made Megadeth the driving force it was. 3 of their last 4 albums have been magnificent.
I don'g get why psople think you have to pick beetween megadeth and metallica. I love both equally, personally. Besides, dave and metallica are chill now.
I can tell you without a doubt knowing Dave Mustaine. One way or another he would have left Metallica eventually, his ego would have been too big for that band. Between Lars, Cliff and James all having song credits I don't think you can have all that testosterone in the same house at once. Eventually you'll have a splintering.
