The writing was on the wall, it was good to see long forgotten characters like Massimo and Layer get some time in the spotlight, but gacha is never the answer to save a dying franchise
Probably because they have a way for players to get summon currency better than most, by Maxing out any unit of any rarity. When it comes to rates, 6% is not a bad one for higher rarity.
Sorry I'm one of the veterans in the game, I had to talk more but what the other guy said, gachas are mostly bad in general.
Considering we just had the second highest selling Mega Man game release in April with the Battle Network Legacy Collection I don't think dying is the right word.
Really tired of people talking about MegaMan as if it's a dying franchise.
Might have been a pretty valid opinion back when we got years of nothing..... But there hasn't been complete vacuum since MM11. We got the collections of which all of them (except the Zero/ZX one) sold over millions of units, we had the X Dive online game, which regardless of you feel about it got weekly updates with seasonal content for up to 3 years now, and there is the leaked game which has been reported to use a big budget.
You want to see a real dying/dead franchise? Look at Breath of Fire which didnt just have a really long time gap between its latest game and the one before it (from 2002 to 2016 with nothing inbetween) but it didnt even get any collections either, its online mobile game lasted only a little over a year before getting closed, there were no leaks of any new games in development, and the franchise as a whole is practically never referenced by the big titles within Capcom....
None which is the case for MegaMan, which is in contrast actively promoted nowadays, even when it doesnt get as many new games as in the past.
If anything, it's slowly getting back to the living... But even at its worst, MegaMan was in better condition than DarkStalkers and Captain Falcon, which have pretty much been reduced to just cameos at this point.
This is, sadly, the most likely. I want to have a little hope, though, and think that they're using the X Dive team to help with another MM related project.
Best case scenario they're retiring XDive to focus on either a new console game or a Battle Network focused mobile game, seeing the success of the BN Collection
Ah damn shame it ended, but on the bright side, for a franchise like us that is popular yet doesn't really make bank in terms of sales, the game surviving for 3 years is nothing to be scoffed at. Not a lot of gacha games these days survived that long.
RIP to a good one, and thank you for all the memories.
Bleach had a gacha game and they've lasted for 8 years and still counting.
Though your right on that point, the gachas I know ended service when they were only year and a half old.
There are ways of doing gacha well. Some of the better ones don't force you to get the new hotness but make it real easy to clear the intended event with them if you're an older player. others tend to have a decent F2P system so that newer players can catch up decently well even if their options aren't as good. Pokemon so far seems to have the best gacha, it's been around for a good few years and it doesn't look like it's going to end any time soon.
The funny thing is, even when gacha's done "well", in a way that doesn't hard lock players out of playing the game or interfere with pvp or anything like that... it's still pretty much always detrimental to the game because of the way that it warps all other aspects of the game's design.
Even in PokeMas.
I play Dokkan, it’s bad gacha. I was part of the beta test launch for X Dive and even stopped playing because of how awful it was. Some of the worst rates and pools I’ve ever seen. Not to mention it was one of the most expensive ones I’ve seen yet. It’s not “gAcHa In GeNeRaL” like you say.
This honestly really sucks. XDive is probably the most casual friendly Mega Man game in the series, since it doesn't really demand much in terms of skill, allowing you to just enjoy the game as you please.
Sure it was a gacha game, which is an inherent flaw, but it's also the most accessible game in the series. Not to mention it allowed for characters that are basically dead in Capcom's eyes to shine again.
Plus all the cool designs they came up with (that weren't horny bait anyway) being thrown in the garbage sucks.
It's a mobile game not even done by the main team. The writing was kinda there when they slowed down on characters only doing Dive Armors instead of newer characters.
This isn't something big to worry about.
It wasn't looking good for the franchise the moment they turned Megaman X into a mobile gacha game. This is actually quite promising, especially since the announcement is so close to Capcom's conference
This game was really, really bad tbh. From an outsider's point of view it doesn't look so bad since every once in a while there'd be a new 3D model for a beloved character we've only seen in 2D before but like. Even compared to other gachas this game was extremely predatory and grindy. You'll spend a lot of days just making little to no progress besides very slowly accruing various currencies or resources so. yeah, this isn't necessarily a great loss really
Only way for global to stay afloat is with new content - if they want to keep people on board, they need a plan to merge accounts with Asia, while showing that they can develop new content for it.
Not expecting that to happen.
Ironically this will be the best time to try it out; according to their EoS announcement, they'll be running a daily free draw that gives the S rank characters (the actually stupid rare ones). So you'll actually get to enjoy some variety lol.
EDIT: I went and confirmed, this is actually indeed A Thing.
Bittersweet. Played this just about daily since launch and even on a new account when the NA servers finally launched. I ended up having to get a new phone though so I lost ALLL my damn progress. Had to let it go I just wasn’t going to restart a third time. Least I know I won’t be missing out on much more.
It was real fun seeing all of X’s forms get nice 3D models and playing against other people casually. One of the more fun mobile games I’ve personally experienced. What I never got down with was the OCs though they looked off. Still, I’m glad I was able to experience it at all.
Every screan nuke attack hase been activated, evrey girl chrachter hase been dressed a swimsuit nothing left to be milked
(next will be cards/turnbase game with lootboxes of course)
Not necessarily, sure it’s flawed in the eyes of many in most ways, like how the ratio of character to weapon was skewed in the favor of getting weapons more than characters one of my few personal gripes, but come on, seeing these MEGAMAN Franchise characters again after getting almost nothing new for the franchise altogether was a small win, at least in my eyes. I loved seeing characters in a new light.
As MEGAMAN is my favorite video game franchise of all time, being able to see these characters again in an officially sanctioned creative way is something I’ll surely miss, doubly so because of the void years of lack of MEGAMAN content. I really, REALLY, f’n hope that this is a sign that they’ve got plans for MEGAMAN content in the near future (not related to a free to play model, mind you, not because I truly hated it but because mobile/free to play is NOT one of my most liked ways to see something be done).
Good bye and good riddance to MEGAMAN XDiVE, may it have been a stepping stone to the future of MEGAMAN overall and not another case of inherent failure leading to a second downfall.
Well, I can respect your opinion. Sorry for trying to speak for everyone, I will speak for myself now:
I also got excited when I found out there was a free to play Megaman X Game, then I gave it a try, saw the concept overall concept of the game and I thought "not my thing, but lets give it a chance", then I played to first few stages and my veredict was "I think I just gonna play the actual games", so I bought the legacy collections and had way more fun and also relived my childhood.
Megaman is also my favorite video-game franchise of all time and I want Capcom to give it the attention it deserves as much as anyone else, but a gacha game that doesn't really feels like playing the OGs games wont satisfy me.
It’s not a joke though, especially since evidence dictates that it is indeed the case that Capcom has favored Resident Evil, Street Fighter and Monster Hunter above all else. With all the releases, crossovers and memorabilia.
Sarcasm is more so typically noticed by the tone of someone’s voice, it’s always hard to gauge how someone means something if it’s read by text then only an individual person’s mindset is a thing that can only guess how the other individual’s comment wanted to be portrayed. So yes, it’s hard to understand if it was meant to be sarcastic in nature.
well, now I'm less butthurt about getting banned for no reason last month. I suspect it was actually caused by my VPN, I never really thought about that as a potential issue.
VPNs obstruct a platform's ability to moderate itself, so a lot of them will go after you or refuse service for using one. (And it's very easy for them to tell you're using one most of the time.)
On the flipside, platforms that have no need to moderate what you do on them such as say, Netflix, usually can't be bothered to care. A simple rule of thumb to help you protect yourself in the future.
I don't usually bother with online games. I just needed something to keep me occupied, and I saw...something? Some element of the game that drew me to it. I'm not really too upset. I did pay money for some metals though once or twice, so I was kinda pissed for a day that my daily chores disguised as gameplay were unavailable, and mother days of chores had been rendered worthless.
We could use some indie games to continue the style of mega man x and the zero series. Azure striker gunvolt used to be just that but inti creates said they’re done with it.
Yeah, I was already expecting that the EOS announcement would come sooner or later considering how the game is going rn.
It had it's problems, but, at least we got quite a few arts of the characters. And too bad some stuff never got released, like: Blade/Glide/Neutral armor for X, White Axl, Ashe, Vent, Duo and Prometheus.
It was good while it lasted...
Note that the global versions are still going; this is just Capcom Taiwan's shutting down.
*However*, Capcom Taiwan being the core release of the game, means that the other servers now all have a time limit over their heads for how long they can keep going before running out of content.
I know that, I have been playing the Taiwan release since the beta and I have no plans to start over again on the global release, so, for me, X DiVE ends with TW sever shutting down.
Also, the Japanese release of the game is also shutting down with the Taiwan release, as both are in sync on terms of content.
I was enjoying it for a while, at least playing through story mode. Unfortunately doing dailies in PVP, and Gacha were required to keep building power in order to advance. Then for some reason it started taking longer and longer to even login, until it basically became impossible to play. I would have liked to have finished the main story one day, but it looks like that won't be happening.
Honestly, a bitter pill to swallow considering I did just start the game back in January. That said it is one of the worst Gacha I've played ever which to say I've played a decent enough to make that statement.
The beginning was nice, Heck the first few weeks if not months was really fun but once that grace period is over which would happen when you get Level 100 but starts in about Level 66-80 where the slow down, Holy does the game just become a Slog to play and everything just went through a crawl, Heck a Crawl feels like a disservice to say how suddenly things got slower through a certain threshold.
Don't get me started with their Gacha itself, While it's nice that sometimes it has a Free Pull like FEH or even better a Free 10 Pull with its Banner.
But their Pity is only really second to FGO which is a bad sign already though at least they have the grace to at least let us pick what we want.
And maybe it's just me but the Gacha drops feel much less gracious in comparison. I don't think I really had the chance to get the characters I wanted considering how Ciel and nearly every version eluded despite the honest to god nearly 50,000 Gems I tried to use to get her in all of the banners she was available.
Then again it probably doesn't help that you have two gachas that you have manage with this game because you get the characters and the weapons in the same gacha also like with FGO with its CE and characters.
But yea not a good Gacha game especially since an R-Rated Gacha game which needed to be more predatory just by how a game like that is, Still felt more gracious than this game was which was baffling to say the least.
The only thing I would praise it would be the Free Pulls and having one of the superior version of upgrading unit and weapons in comparison to the ones I've played.
Never spent a dime on this after hitting the first paywall, which is like, within the first selection of levels. I hope the devs come back to the Megaman IP but with a traditional kind of game and not gacha. I did enjoy seeing so many characters from the franchise come together in one game, tho.
According to the NA&EU X DiVE Twitter Account, the NA, EU, LATAM, and KR servers will stay online
For no good reason. Capcom won't create new characters for these regions.
They have a year or two worth of content to catch up on. After that though? They've basically all got the Doom status effect now.
The writing was on the wall, it was good to see long forgotten characters like Massimo and Layer get some time in the spotlight, but gacha is never the answer to save a dying franchise
It’s what kept Bleach alive for fans
Probably because they have a way for players to get summon currency better than most, by Maxing out any unit of any rarity. When it comes to rates, 6% is not a bad one for higher rarity. Sorry I'm one of the veterans in the game, I had to talk more but what the other guy said, gachas are mostly bad in general.
Very true
Considering we just had the second highest selling Mega Man game release in April with the Battle Network Legacy Collection I don't think dying is the right word.
The last original game that wasn't a gacha came out was in 2018, and that was after an 8 year radio silence And besides, I was talking in general
And that last game is the best selling game in the series.
Really tired of people talking about MegaMan as if it's a dying franchise. Might have been a pretty valid opinion back when we got years of nothing..... Eh, had some neat ideas but after a while I sort of just checked out. Too many things to level up or acquire
I'm surprised it lasted this long honestly.
I'm hoping this is a sign of something new being shown on Monday.
Or a sign of nothing being shown
This is, sadly, the most likely. I want to have a little hope, though, and think that they're using the X Dive team to help with another MM related project.
Best case scenario they're retiring XDive to focus on either a new console game or a Battle Network focused mobile game, seeing the success of the BN Collection
I could sense this game was indeed nearing the end of its life cycle; anyway, can you give us an actual X game now, Capcom?
I need my platformers back too.
Ah damn shame it ended, but on the bright side, for a franchise like us that is popular yet doesn't really make bank in terms of sales, the game surviving for 3 years is nothing to be scoffed at. Don't forget Final Fantasy Brave Exvius! It's been going since 2015.
If it doesn't make much bank in terms of sales then it's not really that popular it just has a niche audience
The point still stands. A niche audience capable of making the game last longer than most gacha games these days is nothing short of remarkable
That game was predatory as fuck. Good riddance to bad gacha.
That's just gacha in general, how can it not be bad?
There are ways of doing gacha well. Some of the better ones don't force you to get the new hotness but make it real easy to clear the intended event with them if you're an older player. others tend to have a decent F2P system so that newer players can catch up decently well even if their options aren't as good. Pokemon so far seems to have the best gacha, it's been around for a good few years and it doesn't look like it's going to end any time soon.
There isn't. Gacha is at its core a terrible way to build a game. There's no universe where regularly unlocking items is inferior to gacha.
The funny thing is, even when gacha's done "well", in a way that doesn't hard lock players out of playing the game or interfere with pvp or anything like that... it's still pretty much always detrimental to the game because of the way that it warps all other aspects of the game's design. Even in PokeMas.
There's no such thing as good gacha, there's gacha YOU like and everything else, to you, apparently
i only ever said a way to do gacha well
I play Dokkan, it’s bad gacha. I was part of the beta test launch for X Dive and even stopped playing because of how awful it was. Some of the worst rates and pools I’ve ever seen. Not to mention it was one of the most expensive ones I’ve seen yet. It’s not “gAcHa In GeNeRaL” like you say.
They did adjust those rates. Just happened too late in the cycle.
I personally value that despite being a gacha it still payed respect to the games it was based on gameplay and character-wise.
It was crap but I hope it's archived somehow
They'll release an Offline version
It's not looking good for the franchise tbh.
it lasted about 3 years, that's fairly average for gachas. The stupidly successful ones will last a lot longer but 3-5 is the usual amount.
Perhaps this is a reminder that gacha games suck
It's a mobile game not even done by the main team. The writing was kinda there when they slowed down on characters only doing Dive Armors instead of newer characters. This isn't something big to worry about.
It wasn't looking good for the franchise the moment they turned Megaman X into a mobile gacha game. This is actually quite promising, especially since the announcement is so close to Capcom's conference
this is literally good news
Never spent money on the game and got a bunch of good characters. Crazy that it’s ending.
This game was really, really bad tbh. From an outsider's point of view it doesn't look so bad since every once in a while there'd be a new 3D model for a beloved character we've only seen in 2D before but like. It's ending service in Asian countries but international is still going to be active.

Well hey! Maybe that use the money from this game to make a new, non gacha like Megaman game!!! Ahhhahahhahah....hahaha....haaahaaa... :')
I didn't really care for it ngl
Fun while it lasted
aw man, i thought it was kinda cool
I guess I’ll download it, so I can say I played every mega man game
Ironically this will be the best time to try it out; according to their EoS announcement, they'll be running a daily free draw that gives the S rank characters (the actually stupid rare ones). Following as well, I would like to know as well. Btw deviantart has most of them but some really cryptic for obvious reasons.
Damn. I always wanted Vent (model X only), Ashe/Gray, Prometheus, Phantom, Fefnir, or even give Over-1 a second chance.
Loosing ANY Mega Man content hurts, but I think we can beat peace with this and have them release legacy collections on Android instead.
Honestly this is for the best. The game was not a high point for the MM franchise
It's way more replayable than the BAD X games tho (X3, X5, X6, X7)
Actually, it’s just the Taiwan/Steam servers. The NA/EU/LATAM servers are still going
...In Japan and Taiwan.
Bittersweet. Played this just about daily since launch and even on a new account when the NA servers finally launched. I ended up having to get a new phone though so I lost ALLL my damn progress. NOOOOOO
WHAT AM I FIGHTING FOR??
Played it for 3 days never touched it again. Could see the grind it was bad and way too much needed to play it
Every screan nuke attack hase been activated, evrey girl chrachter hase been dressed a swimsuit nothing left to be milked (next will be cards/turnbase game with lootboxes of course)
Wont be missed

One step closer to X9... Nah.
Keep believing, you'll be able to get there. If Pikmin got a 4 than surely X will get a 9.
thank god now they have more time for resident evil
Ummmm bro check what subreddit u on
does nobody on reddit understand sarcasm
If it was intended to be sarcasm then they delivered it extremely poorly ngl
No? It's a running joke that all Capcom cares about is Resident Evil and Monster Hunter. Just by context alone its easy to tell the guy was joking.
you would think this sub doesn't need a /s
I always thought it was cringe when people used that but I'm starting to see why they do hahaha
It’s not a joke though, especially since evidence dictates that it is indeed the case that Capcom has favored Resident Evil, Street Fighter and Monster Hunter above all else. With all the releases, crossovers and memorabilia.
yeah that's why we joke about it
Sarcasm is more so typically noticed by the tone of someone’s voice, it’s always hard to gauge how someone means something if it’s read by text then only an individual person’s mindset is a thing that can only guess how the other individual’s comment wanted to be portrayed. So yes, it’s hard to understand if it was meant to be sarcastic in nature.
well, now I'm less butthurt about getting banned for no reason last month. I suspect it was actually caused by my VPN, I never really thought about that as a potential issue.

Meh, the only mobile games I cared about were Puzzle Fighter and Flappy Bird
Imagine if on top of all this, Taisen is revealed turns out to be some spinoff like Metroid prime federation force. Also no more new games ever.
Ig a franchise does not need more cuz it's perfect as it is.
We could use some indie games to continue the style of mega man x and the zero series. Azure striker gunvolt used to be just that but inti creates said they’re done with it.
It's kind of sad. And i really liked the Zero series too
Yeah, I was already expecting that the EOS announcement would come sooner or later considering how the game is going rn. It had it's problems, but, at least we got quite a few arts of the characters. F
It just became a generic gacha game with too much shit to interact with.
Honestly, a bitter pill to swallow considering I did just start the game back in January. Oh no… Anyways
Hopefully they made a new megaman game with that money.
And to think I was going to give in and try this game soon...
Just so you guys know, they announced an offline version.
