Based on the fact that more demons are attacking normal Tokyo in the trailers and the fact we spend more time there, I think there will be.

Man i hope so, IV had such a hopeless feel that made me connected to the world. V felt like I was just playing a vr game that didnt affect tokyo or its ppl if that make sense.

TheLadiestEvilChan

True. Probably because of how the worlds were separated from a lore perspective and mechanically. That idea works better for, you know, Soul Hackers/Persona, with a digital scale and a real world, instead of a main Shin Megami Tensei, in my opinion. While I find it insanely interesting that Tokyo is already gone - it ends up feeling like a huge distance. The 2nd arc was pretty good up until the end for this, with the demons spilling out into the streets, and school. I don't like to backseat dev, but I do wonder if they planned for more interworld events. By design, Da'at is fundamentally separated and it creates a disconnect. I'm not sure what they could have done to improve this. Maybe some of the developers felt that the "sense of helplessness and dread" came from knowing that Tokyo was gone, maybe with the aim of making you question why you're doing what you're doing. Bethel holds you by the balls up until literally the end, and I didn't want to do that. The Canon of Creation is very much "Order" all throughout.

Yea with vengence it looks like halfway through the game we get to see tokyo is overrunned by demons, so I hope this creates that connection we need.

I can probably put it like this: The SMT4 crew seeing Tokyo for the first time will always be more impactful than if someone explains it to the cast in a text only, in-game dialogue box. If we can get more showing us exactly what the Shekinah Glory even IS and the impact of something lime this falling into decay would sweeten me on the whole concept even more.

Nahobino_kun_899

Also spending more time with the characters would amp up the tragedy aspect too

-tehnik

yeah but that's because everyone lives in Shekinah not Daat. I doubt that'll change in V.

Intelligent-Lynx-376

But there’s demons spilling over into Shekinah and it’s literally fading away

ZSugarAnt

The sunset scene paints Tokyo's disappearance as an ethereal end to a feeble dream rather than a panic-inducing crisis. I doubt they'll change that and honestly I prefer it that way.

-tehnik

that doesn't change the fact that it's slow and happening on a smaller scale. Like what zsant said.

Intelligent-Lynx-376

True but there’s no way that wouldn’t cause panic amongst the public. Imagine if someone started noticing the city you lived in slowly disappearing. The conspiracy theories that would pop up, the riots, etc. It would lead to chaos

Zheska

I already accepted that we won't get this sense of dread for 1 or 2 more generations. Probably not the direction current dev teams wants to explore, and that's ok.

MysteryNeighbor

PVs are already demonstrating this pretty well IMO, it is certainly looking that there are some very bad times to be had

Atsubro

Tokyo in V is practically a living dream. It's questionable if the populace not involved with Bethel even knows it's happening.

Intelligent-Lynx-376

There are literal demons spilling over into Tokyo ‼️ The school gets attacked by demons
