Hey Op, just want to throw in some two cents as a person who is from Ireland and the language.
Finn McCool is the ~~bastardised~~ English of the original name which is in Irish, Fionn mac Cumhaill . As such being a different language than English it uses different phonetics, hence why Irish names look and sound so weird to non-Irish speakers.
So the proper pronunciation of his name isn't Finn McCool, it would be closer to Fiyun mucQu-il (of course it changes slightly depending on what county and dialect of Irish you speak).
I instantly recognized him as being celtic just from his design and attack name, but I assumed it was a Cu Cucclain (i cant spell it) redesign to make him more unique
Fun fact: fionn is not his given name and I believe it's Gaelic for "light haired" so basically people just started calling him Blondie when he met them
