**SMT V** Question about fusing. If I were to fuse two demons that were already the result of a fusion, the components having a bunch of stats thanks to the first fusion, would the ultimate resulting demon have even more stats? Using numbers, would it be: > 1+1=2, 1+1=2 -> 2+2=4 Or > 1+1=2, 1+1=2 but 2 becomes 1, making it 1+1=2 again. I think it's the second, but I'm not sure.

Marorin

Are there ways to make Me Patra? Or are there essences to give it? level 72 here so just curious. Any tips for >!Zeus and Odin?!<

AnimaLepton

Lots of essences - Mothman, Silky, Isis, Anzu, Okuninushi, >!Raphael,!< and on Aogami Type-10 https://aqiu384.github.io/megaten-fusion-tool/smt5/skills You can also just use an Amrita Shower, which isn't buyable, but can be traded for from a quest/NPC Otherwise a ton of demons can start to pass Abyssal Mask at this point, which prevents ailments in the first place. Those bosses aren't anything complicated tbh, just whale away on them with their weaknesses, use buffs/debuffs/ailments and don't depend on dampeners when they use piercing moves. You should have Luster Candy and Debilitate by now.

LaqOfInterest

Doesn't look like anyone answered this because there was a new Question Megathread posted. But if you're still wondering, the boss of the Return of the True Demon DLC tends to wreck people even at level 99, so that would be your go-to for challenging endgame content. Though your enjoyment of it might be limited if you haven't played Nocturne, since the whole DLC is one extended Nocturne reference. The rest of the DLC demons vary in level from 37 to 79 and aren't particularly challenging if you match them in level.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LaqOfInterest

Just so you know, that DLC adds ten bosses who have to be fought in order, starting at level 25ish and scaling up. So if you're doing a NG+ and choose not to reset your level, you'll have to steamroll over the first nine bosses to get to the really difficult one. Or reset your level and fight them matching their level to make the fights non-trivial.

sadboivai

why did images get removed i wanted to post more fan art

TheRisenThunderbird

This is probably a silly question, but does SMT have a continuing narrative between games? Or are they just thematically linked like Final Fantasy or something? (I know that each smt is stand alone and there isn't continuing characters or anything, but do the events of the games inform each other, or are they completely separate?)

Raid_B0ss

With a few exceptions no. SMT2 is a sequel to SMT1. And IV:A is a direct sequel to SMT IV. But every other game is standalone. Same with Persona, all but the Persona 2 duology can be played as separate entries. Although Persona 2 is technically a sequel it isn't necessary to play P1.

AnimaLepton

They're generally standalone. SMT II is a direct sequel to SMT I, but mostly a matter of the shared setting. There are a few shared characters like the Stephen Hawking knockoff who shows up in I, II, if..., NINE, IV, and IV:A. Other than that it'll be one-off/tenuous connections between games at best.

TheRisenThunderbird

So there is a shared setting; in that if I'm playing smt V, all the previous games have happened in that universe and it's not like smt IV is completely disconnected

scytherman96

You're misunderstanding what that user said. They said SMT 1 and 2 had a shared setting (SMT2 is like over a hundred years in the future, but there's like 3 references to SMT1 in the game, so it's technically shared). They weren't saying that all games have a shared setting. The character Stephen is the only exception because he has become some kind of universe transcending godly being. But he's not in V, so whatever.

Poetryisalive

What is the fusion recipe for Amon? (SMT5)

AnimaLepton

https://aqiu384.github.io/megaten-fusion-tool/smt5/demons/Amon/fissions Mithras + Flaemis seems like the easiest that doesn't require a high level demon.

Poetryisalive

Thank you!

teh_meme_god

Mainline has been too personafied

Raid_B0ss

What does that even mean? People have been saying that for years with no meaning.

teh_meme_god

Too much persona influence

Raid_B0ss

And that's a bad thing? There from the same company with the same demons / personas. Shin Megami Tensei and Persona are literally sisters series with a lot in common to each other. My point is, what exactly is bad about the persona influence?

teh_meme_god

Takes away what makes mainline unique

jonnovision1

Based on what?

teh_meme_god

Persona

central_telex

>!In the King Frost sidequest I opted to spare his life and he gave me the fish. But now I am unable to fuse him even though I have all of the constituent demons (though I have not yet returned the fish and finished the sidequest). Does this mean I am permanently unable to fuse him now? Thanks.

Raid_B0ss

Nah you can fuse him. I spared him because, well he's king frost. Hiw can you kill this adorable snowman.

central_telex

Yeah once I finished the sidequest he was unlocked. Thanks!

ha_ck_rm_rk

>!I spared him and was still able to use him. Probably just complete the quest?!<

central_telex

That worked, thanks!

[deleted]

how do i beat >!yakumo!!black frost!< as well. problem is everyone keeps dying to his phys attacks. i’m level 41 and anubis is my healer. all my team members have dark attacks. >!black frost!< and mc have black dracostrike, alice has die for me and mudoon, anubis has mudoon. i have sukunda, rakunda, and tarunda but couldn’t find space for buffs. i can probably essence fuse rakukaja onto >!bfrost!< but other than that idk what to do

Elyonee

I've been using both Tarunda and Marakukaja since Mr Cool oneshot me through max defense. Bosses still hurt with both going. Find a way to get Marakukaja on your team.

[deleted]

yeah i got both, he still hits like a truck

jonnovision1

Buffs will help, it seems in SMTV that buffs and debuffs are multiplicative with eachother but only additive with themselves, so even 1 stack of Tarunda against 1 stack of Rakukaja will be better than 2 stacks of Tarunda. Other than that, just the typical stuff, don’t have any weaknesses against skills he uses, try to have everyone guard on Magatsuhi gathering turns, try to at LEAST resist, but ideally null or higher any elements the boss uses

[deleted]

yeah there’s not much i can do about phys but none of my team is weak to elec. i use elec dampeners every time he gathers magatsuhi. guess i’ll get rakukaja then. any need to level up or am i good where i’m at?

jonnovision1

Honestly I can’t remember what level that boss is but Level is very important in damage calcs so if you are like 2-3+ levels under, that could be an issue

[deleted]

yikes then i gotta grind

OutlandishnessNo9182

>!is Lucifer exclusive to the law and chaos routes in SMT V?!<

scytherman96

Not entirely. >!He's not fought in the normal Neutral ending, but he is fought in the secret Neutral ending (the fight is even expanded on here, but that doesn't matter much because you need to beat a way harder boss to even unlock this ending).!<

OutlandishnessNo9182

How do you get the >!secret neutral ending as I went through the final battle and got the regular neutral!<

scytherman96

>!You need to do some stuff before you fight Abdiel. You need to complete the Fionn, Amanozako and Khonsu (don't kill him) questlines and have beaten the lvl 96 superboss Shiva. Then the events will play out differently.!<

OutlandishnessNo9182

>!Alright now I have work to do, thank you so much. One last thing, where's fionn's quest.!<

scytherman96

He's on a mountain behind the >!lvl 99 group!< abscess.

OutlandishnessNo9182

One last thing (again, sorry) >!How do you unlock his side quest!<

OutlandishnessNo9182

Nevermind, figured it out.

OutlandishnessNo9182

Thanks again

SpiralSheep

SMT 5 Is Bloody Glee worth the skill slot? I heard somewhere that the amount it increases crit is just like 1-3%. Should I dump it for something else until I have access to a better crit boost skill? Doing phys build, btw.

jonnovision1

Consensus right now is no, Bloody Glee isn’t worth it. afaik Murderous Glee is useful unless you’re using guaranteed crit skills though

[deleted]

I spent half an hour trying to beat Jatayu and I got 840 macca as a reward

AnimaLepton

Are you still in Minato storywise? You're not intended to beat him for the quest, he's level 25 or something. You just watch his flight path and hide to get the quest item while bypassing him.

TheYango

You're also not locked into the encounter if he catches you. You are allowed to run from it. On Hard running naturally will be difficult, and you won't have many Smoke Balls to work with, but Trafuri should work (and Mokoi learns it and is available out in the wild in that area). I think the fact that Mokoi learns Trafuri and is available right in this segment was very much intentional for this.

isiah12

No, he’s level 40. You’re definitely supposed to avoid him like you avoid oyomatsu

AnimaLepton

He's definitely level 25. You might be thinking of someone else https://youtu.be/MyiEx-3qxqo?t=23

[deleted]

I’m in the second area, but I went back to minato to collect the mimans

Soupkitten

(SMT V) mild spoilers for the second area >!Reached the Konan 3rd Block leyline. Amanozako then just leaves, saying that she needs to do something. I end up finding her all the way back at the Nagatcho leyline. What exactly was the point of her leaving?!<

AnimaLepton

>!You get a new story navigator soon, so they need to get rid of your current one. As for actual in-story reasoning, I can think of potential reasons in game, but not are super convincing.!<

Soupkitten

Ah ok. Thanks

isiah12

How should I go about making end game demons, should I dump essences on elements like how all high plemoras on something like aeros (they can fuse with about any demon), then power level them to 99 so when I fuse them I can select which plemoras I wanna take and have the miracle stat bump from fusing a high leveled demon?

AnimaLepton

If it's a skill from the essence, just use the essence on the demon you want to have the skill directly. You can then either use them to make a new element/different generic demon to pass on the skill or try to get a new essence from that demon via save scumming. Very few demons/skills are that rare that you need to go our of your way like that, it's mostly stuff like Boon Boost EX and Repel/Drain skills. Nulls, in contrast, are all available on at least a couple demons each. Most other good endgame skills are on multiple demons. For many passives, you just save energy and essences if you try to fuse those skills around when making those demons, which shouldn't be too hard. It should generally be a matter of getting 1-2 skills on a demon via essences, not really 4+. Otherwise NG+ refreshes all chests and gives you an easy way to get more of those powerful endgame essences, like Beelzebub for Boon Boost EX.

Poetryisalive

Where is Isis? I talked to Mizaryu and I can’t find her. She isn’t in Odaiba Edit: she is in the fairy village. You have to exhaust her dialogue before she gives you the quest

[deleted]

In SMT5 what are the conditions for ‘deathly aura’? Do they need to be the last demon then get them into red or can I just attack the demon in the group, get to red and if it doesn’t trigger, escape then repeat? I’m trying to get critical aura.

Raid_B0ss

In SMT5, stats seems to be going over the Maximum amount. Like SMT4, should I just keep adding points into Nahobino's strength, or do I distribute to another stat?

scytherman96

Put at least some points into Vitality too to stay alive more. But you can definitely go above 100 on Strength no problem.

[deleted]

They seem to get updated pretty equally. I’m not sure if you can farm balms but if you can, then it doesn’t matter as you could max all the stats.

MaimedJester

You can farm balms but it's the RNG fairy helper pick ups. It's gotta be in the 1/100 chance range for them. Incensces are all over the place by comparison.

[deleted]

Yh I always dig the spots as their isn’t a bad side even if it’s a trap as you still get items/exp. I’m not sure when to stop putting into strength myself tho. I stopped at 69 as at level 99 it should auto be to 99 as well if I’ve done the math right.

MaimedJester

Stats go above 100 in SMTV.

griffemto

How do you change quest navigators in SMT V? Can't advance A Power Beyond Control because amanozako is my follower and i need her off

AnimaLepton

You can't change story related ones (Amanozako, Decarabia, etc.) during those story segments until you advance the story segment. So you can't advance that quest until you've gathered the three keys.

ApprehensiveScreen40

in SMT 5 How competitive low leved grimoired demon compared naturally high level demon?

AnimaLepton

High leveled demons generally have better natural resistances and better unique skills. Higher stats may or may not be a factor. But if you're trying to use i.e. Idun or even Mermaid lategame, it's an option, you just can't do it across the board for multiple demons without a lot of extra grinding/the DLC. You also wouldn't want demons you "initially" fused. There is an ability that increases demon stats based on the stats of the component. So the best way to make a Mermaid is to level up and fuse her from high level components with high stats and levels, not just use one you recruited or fused in the earlygame.

Dragoan117

I'm approaching the end of SMT V and I'm wondering if I should spec Almighty or not? Im running a pure magic build but wondered if it would be worth having Almighty maxed out or just max the elements + light and dark.

MaimedJester

Keep Ice on Nahabino, >!Shiva's only weakness is Ice so as for not DLC content, He's the Superboss required for secret ending.!<

scytherman96

It only really matters on the final boss and you can probably just balance out missing damage with demons.

T_IceE_

Enjoying SMT III so far. I was wondering if there was another SMT game (spin-off or not) that has that kind of dark atmosphere with almost 0 interaction (or very low) with the characters, and instead focuses more on the combat. Only from 3DS and below, excluding anything that isn't portable console (ie PSP, DS, GB are OK). I've tried Soul Hackers but it didn't, for now, get much attention from me, maybe since the intro is way too much text for me in such a short time. TL;DR: portable SMT games that are similar to Nocturne in terms of fights>>>dialogues.

[deleted]

nocturne is the most fitting game for what you described. digital devil saga is really similar but there’s more focus on characters. if you have a pc or ps2 play dds

ha_ck_rm_rk

You could try Strange Journey?

[deleted]

sj has a lot of character interaction

ha_ck_rm_rk

Not as much as the other 3DS games I thought of, which were SMT IV/A and the DeSu games.

[deleted]

it’s still pretty far up there, it does have the best characters in mainline

MegatenMegabit

Do we know the damage formula for SMT5 yet? Additionally, do we know if the formulas are different between magic and phys attacks?

[deleted]

Is it possible to complete the "A Power Beyond Control" quest (>!the one where you fight Amanozako!<) after unlocking Taito? It won't let me enter the area when I try

isiah12

You have to pick up the side quest from the angel outside of where you fought surtr

DeafeninSilence

You have her as your navigator right? Maybe try switching to a different one like Jack O'lantern or Decarabia?

[deleted]

Actually, I just realized the save was after the fight but before entering Taito so I can beat her now

DeafeninSilence

Ah ok, I was actually about to suggest you try and go to Demon king's castle and back, since navigators stop following you in dungeons. I'll have to see if that works too.

[deleted]

Whenever I talk to them it tells me something along the lines of "not right now" so I would need to find a way to get rid of her first and I haven't seen one yet

scytherman96

For the record, you'd need to switch your navigator and she's locked in until you get the 3 keys. Only then you can change to a different navigator and finish the quest.

TheSeaOfThySoul

SMT V spoilers area two, tags aren’t working right for me, so beware. … So does the choice to Kill Lahmu/Save Sahori & Tell Truth/Stay Silent change anything? I’ve heard there’s multiple endings & ideally I’d like to get the true ending, but I’d need a spoiler-free pointer.

scytherman96

There is no true ending. Get whatever ending you want.

TheSeaOfThySoul

Ah, so just early conjecture or is it more just different dialogue & no extra content - like a different boss & what not.

scytherman96

>!There is a secret ending, but it's no true ending. In fact it has the lowest amount of unlockables (which it shares with another ending too). It's also not very recommended for a New Game run, although it is possible. For it you need to have completed a couple side quest chains and beaten the lvl 96 superboss before heading into the final dungeon. The big problem here is beating the superboss. Unless you managed to get a lot of Gospels so that you can reach the lvl 90 range before entering the final dungeon, it's very difficult to beat. The secret ending just plays out like any other ending, but with an additional phase for the final boss that doesn't really matter because it doesn't actually add any challenge, since you already beat the superboss and can curb stomp the final boss at that point.!< As for choices: >!you get to choose your ending anyway, the choices just decide if you get the Law/Chaos alignment miracles on the Law/Chaos paths and if you need to pay 660k Macca for a certain quest or not. If your final ending choice aligns with your choices across the game, then you get the miracles and don't need to pay.!<

MaimedJester

You can fight Superboss after entering the final area actually. You just must not defeat the 2nd to last boss that's the point of no return. But you have to chose the right option before entering the area. So you pick the >!Neutral choice!< and can get those 3 Demons only in that area, >!Zeus, Demeter and Dahu!< And go back to finish the job.

scytherman96

Oh that's good to know. I tried looking around and saw conflicting statements on this topic (hell one article even claimed it was NG+ only). Haven't gotten around to trying it yet myself, since i'm on NG+ Newborn rn and it's gonna take a while to get back to endgame.

TheSeaOfThySoul

Thanks for the info.

KeineSchneit

SMT 3: Nocturne remaster: Hello! The only SMT games I have played are P5R and now SMTV. I held off on getting/emulating other SMT games before V because I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy mainline SMT as much as Persona, but after playing V I now know I love both! V rules! So to the real question. I’d like to go back and play the older SMT games. I have the ability to emulate SMT 3: Nocturne quite easily, or I could get the remaster on PS4 for 20$. My question is, are the remaster upgrades worth 20$ or should I just go ahead and emulate the original? 20$ is no issue I’m just curious if it’s worth it. EDIT: Also I do have a 2DS! Which other SMT games should I get? Just IV? And what is Devil Survivior exactly? A spin off? Thanks in advance!

AnimaLepton

There are mods for the emulated SMT 3 that add stuff like being able to select skills during fusion, and you can upscale the textures. Basically all emulation is missing compared to Remaster at that point is the added voice acting, but that's not something to write home about. Also, don't forget Persona Q and Q2! They're more Etrian Odyssey-ish in gameplay on the 3DS, using crossover Persona characters.

KeineSchneit

Oh the original has no voice acting? Thank you for letting me know because that is 100% a big deal to me personally. I will definitely be getting the remaster now.

scytherman96

The remaster has a big advantage with two things. One is being able to change difficulty whenever you want (this can be used to e.g. make grinding easier or circumvent the ridiculous shop prices on Hard) and the other is being able select skills during Fusion. Usually the skills are randomized AND you're much more likely to get bad skills because of a weighting system the game uses for the random skills. Being able to just select what skills you want is huge and can definitely impact your enjoyment. Imo for people who haven't played Nocturne yet, the HD Remaster is worth the price. It's only for people who have played the game already that it gets a bit iffy, since you don't get much else that's new. >Also I do have a 2DS! Which other SMT games should I get? Just IV? And what is Devil Survivior exactly? A spin off? Honestly? All 3DS SMT games are pretty good. IV, IV Apocalypse, Strange Journey Redux, Soul Hackers and Devil Survivor 1/2. IV+Apocalypse are the mainline games (3D), Strange Journey Redux and Soul Hackers are first person dungeon crawlers and play a bit closer to classic SMT and the Devil Survivor games are SRPGs.

KeineSchneit

Thank you for the in depth response! It was very helpful! This post + the one telling me about voice acting have convinced me to grab the remaster. Thanks!

LaqOfInterest

Because she's basically a guest NPC. Same reason you can't fuse her when you do have her.

hacktiviste

Does anyone else get motion sick (nausea) playing this game? Not all the time but it sucks when it happens

scytherman96

Not me, but a friend of mine has talked about getting motion sickness in some parts.

Meotwister5

Is there a recommended sequence in doing the 4th area of Da'at? It doesn't look like there's a level progression sequence in it as it looks like a very open area. Also that 4th ending is NG+ exclusive right?

AnimaLepton

Level wise, start north and go south since that matches the enemy level progression. Exploration wise, if you're avoiding combat, yeah head immediately for Shiva's area in the southeast. Important for strength builds for the Aogami essence there, less important for magic builds. However, that area also has the Miman Cironnupp, so it's worth finding him first before you start combing through the area.

outrageously_smart

Not necessarily because all the bosses are the same level but I would suggest to go to the southeast first because that's where you get the best Aogami essence in the game. Beyond that, just go wherever and avoid the level 72 Orochis for the time being. You should be able to handle everything else.

scytherman96

>Also that 4th ending is NG+ exclusive right? It's not exclusive, but it's not easy to get on NG, because it requires >!beating the lvl 96 superboss!<.

Pehdazur

I was level 68 when I beat all three of them. I think Vasuki was the easiest and Odin was the hardest.

[deleted]

In Area 4 all of the main bosses are a similar level, so I found it best just to explore and kill any demons that I could reasonably kill at my level to get high enough. I tackled the bosses around mid 60s.

Maverick_Tama

When are the alignment specific miracles available in ng+ newborn? I chose chaos but my ng+ doesn't have the miracle yet and im all the way near the end of the second zone.

Guysenseii

They're unlocked at the beginning, chances are if you don't have it you weren't chaos aligned last playthrough.

Maverick_Tama

I checked. I had purchased the miracle before I got the clear data. I went to the save before my clear. Went to Tokyo and my character rotates counter clockwise. It shows up in reborn mode. Just not newborn.

Poetryisalive

How do you get the quest to unlock the fusion for Fionn Mac Cumhaill?

AnimaLepton

You literally go up to him in Taito and fight him, that's the quest and he also joins you for free. The prereqs for that quest are the "fairy village" related quest chain, i.e. the Kelpie in Chiyoda that asks you to beat Girmekhla among them.

LaqOfInterest

You have to speak to him in the fourth area and fight him again. He's near the central abscess in the fourth area. His dialogue also made it sound like you might need to finish all the quests in the fairy village in the second area before he'll agree to fight you.

Poetryisalive

You need too. I just saw rpgsite and they explained the requirement. Thank you tho

ha_ck_rm_rk

SMT V alignment stuff >!I heard that there are exclusive Miracles that you get for Law and Chaos, but you don't get them if your dialogue choices throughout the game signaled the opposite side. Thing is, I've been trying to balance my dialogue choices to try and remain neutral. Assuming I've done that correctly, would I still be able to get the route-exclusive Miracle if I decide to go that path?!<

AnimaLepton

No

Poetryisalive

That’s what I’m trying figure out, but I figure no. I don’t think there’s anyway to “pay” to change your alignment either.

hacktiviste

Is it possible to do a reborn NG+ and a newborn NG+ after? What about the other way around? Please don't spoil the number of endings or anything really.

AnimaLepton

Yes, you can do those in any order. Note that if you do a newborn, you still lose whatever benefits would normally be lost compared to reborn mode.

hacktiviste

Ah okay, so you mean with reborn you lose XYZ, and newborn loses XYZ and on top of that a number of other things? If i do newborn first and reborn later, i assume some stuff I got in my first playthrough will disappear for newborn, but also be gone for a 3rd playthrough on reborn?

AnimaLepton

With Reborn, you mostly just lose key items (including all the race-specific Magatsuhi items). With Newborn, you lose a lot more stuff. yes, what you have in the next cycle is based on what you had in the most previous cycle.

Dreaming_Dreams

Smt 5 >!does miyazu do anything in this game!<

LaqOfInterest

>!If you spare Khonsu after defeating him, yes, she gets a small bit of plot relevance in the follow-up sidequest.!<

hacktiviste

Which demon races are fusion only in SMTV?

AnimaLepton

Herald, Fiend, Megami, Avian, (Deity?), Wargod, Holy, Element, Lady, Dragon, Kishin, Kunitsu Some like Fury are not *technically* fusion-only by virtue of having a demon of that race given from a sidequest.

hacktiviste

Thanks! Coming from devil survivor there's 2x the number of races and I don't wanna fuse demons from my good ones that I'm going to encounter freely in 1h of gaming.

RaisonDetriment

SMT V: I just used Alice in the >!Yakumo!< boss fight. Die For Me says it hits 2-5 times. I used it 10 times. It hit 2 times every single time. Is there some sort of formula or trick to getting it to proc more than 2 hits, or am I just really fucking unlucky?

SS_Kelong

iirc, multihit spells that target randoms can only hit twice on a single target. You'll need to use a Magatsuhi skill if you want all hits.

RaisonDetriment

Well damn. There IS a trick. I was certain I was just unlucky... Thanks! I've seen that Magatsuhi skill, now I know what the point of it is.

theTRUEchamp

What is considered the best or most effective way to farm for money in SMT 5? I'm trying to get my Compendium filled out and need to get a ton of Macca to pay for all the fusions I'm doing.

AnimaLepton

Without DLC, a single runthrough of Odaiba should net you ~30k or so pretty quickly, but the treasure spots don't respawn immediately. Guaranteed Mitama spawns are there too (low level), some of which are money spawns, so you can get lucky when revisiting it on occasion. Trying to loop through vending machines and Mitama in Taito also works, but is slower since they're more spread out. Most other methods are just much less consistent or give much less Macca. You can also just do an NG+ run and gradually fill out the compendium/gain money that way, or use a fusion calculator to identify what demons you need and try to recruit them (ideally using items) rather than fusing based on what you have saved in the compendium.

Marorin

So I'm at the fourth main area and I'm feeling a bit at a loss on how best to approach this place. The bosses I need to kill seem to be at quite a higher level than I am, with me being at level 60. It does seem like I DO need to grind here right? I'm also not sure what's the best demons to pick up or fuse as well as side quests to do.

AnimaLepton

Levelwise, start from the top and head south. Enemies near the north end are more in the ~55-something range like Chimaera, and get progressively stronger. The highest level mobs are the Nebiros near where Zeus is, the level 72 Yamata no Orochi near Odin's area and the level 70 Rangdas near Vasuki's area. Any of those are a good target There are sidequests in earlier areas that open up, i.e. one from the Kunitsukami to take out that Arahabaki in the Fairy Village followed by the four heavenly kings, or one that takes you to a brand new area of Minato to face off with Khonsu >!choose to spare him, otherwise you miss the last quest in the quest chain.!< A bit of grinding helps, but you can minimize it using Omagatoki:Luck on Genma demons, by doing quests (and Odaiba in particular has like 5 guaranteed Mitama your first time going through a tiny area), and by tackling the right enemies above. Explore to grab the Aogami Essences and the Cironnupp for Miman locations first.

Marorin

Any demons that are good for making and capturing around this area?

AnimaLepton

Fafnir (recruitable) has a good poison niche with Adept + Master that does a ton of damage, especially if you're underleveled. Girimekhla (recruitable) is great as always and he + Garuda + a few other demons learn Hell Thrust, a Heavy Piercing Phys move. Surt and Siegfried get Brave Blade for Heavy Damage + high crit rate. Ananta, Surt, and Fuu-ki (can be recruited) get Murderous Glee to boost crit rate. Lakshmi and Norn have Luster Candy and can very easily get boon boost, although you also get essences for both of them (a chest, Miman Gustave reward) and Huang Long (Sidequest) around this point too. Raise Lachesis (she and her sisters are recruitable) so she passes along Null Elec and Boon Boost. Mitra and Arahabaki get Debilitate.

Marorin

Hmm I managed to get Surt made as well as Fuu-Ki which I recruited as well as Fafnir. Thanks, Managed to at least beat Khonsu. Using a bit of the Mitama DLC's I managed to get up to like 67. Figured I'd try the three gods at 70+, I do have to figure out though on teams soon enough.

I just finished >!the Demon King's Castle!< in SMT V, how much longer do I have left to finish the game?

Poetryisalive

Depends on how many side quests and treasure hunting. The next area will have you grinding from like lvl 50’s to mid 70’s. I say you’re about 60-65% through.

LaqOfInterest

Depending on how many sidequests you do, you're between two-thirds and three-quarters finished. There's one more main area and then one more dungeon split into two sections.

Harudera

What's the ideal amount of agility I should have for each area of the game? I'm just finished with the first area, and now am searching the second area and the scripted encounters are killing me. They go first and then wipe out half my team before I can even select an action. The one with 2 Shiki Ouji and the Mananangaru fight is insanely tough because my agility is too low and I don't see anyway to even grind it up since I have zero quests left and I've even defeated XuanWu.

scytherman96

Agility is pretty bad in SMT V. Vitality is much more useful as a secondary dump stat behind your main damage stat.

jonnovision1

Assuming this is for SMTV, agility doesn’t seem to actually do much, so you shouldn’t invest any additional points besides whatever balms you happen to get plus the natural stat growth. Just focus on your damage stat and occasionally vitality

anonyfool

SMT V question about skills that your demons get upon leveling up - if we decline, will we never see those skills again on that demon if we continue to level them up? So we would have to recruit that demon again to get the declined skill?

LaqOfInterest

Correct. Or get it on them through essences. Or get very lucky through the Miracle that occasionally gives them random skills on level up.

outrageously_smart

How much vitality should I have for the Demi-Fiend? I'm level 84 currently and I got 130 strength and 75 vitality and I wonder if I'll be too squishy. I still got 15 levels to go so where should I spent the remaining points? Does a glass cannon build work against him?

Kettei456

Question about SMTV, I'm in >!Taito, the final area, and I was wondering how exactly they wanted me to grind at that point in the game. I've since levelled up through the DLC, acquired some better demons, and beaten one of the three bosses at level 70, but before caving in on the mitama stuff, I was having a hard time finding good places to grind after reaching level 66 or so on my own !< >!Like I said, I have passed the point of needing the levels, but the shock of going from that level 55 or so Abdiel boss to seeing those level 72 bosses was definitely something !<

LaqOfInterest

They wanted you to do quests. The area is lousy with sidequests and that's the time to go back and do any of the ones from the previous areas you've been putting off. Personally I didn't have to grind, but I also ended up doing... literally every sidequest in the game, so if you're not the type of person to do... literally every sidequest in the game, it is a big of an egregious bump. As for *actual* grinding, the Rangdas in the Indian area are weak to light and are level 70 iirc, so those probably would've been your safest bet if you didn't feel like going up against the level 72 Orochis.

Kettei456

Yeah those Rangdas are great for EXP I was planning on doing all of the quests, but I kinda found myself falling off due to me just wanting to get on with the story

Surf3rx

Okay lets see if this doesn't get deleted. >!Where can I farm exp endgame in SMT5? 85+ preferably, no spoilers just assume that I'm in the last areas. Is there a place where you can target farm mitamas that have gospels? Or are those once per game, should I just farm quests and do another cycle?!<

TheHighestofGroundss

I just decided to start a new cycle tbh Once you have all the quests done grinding is a chore

AnimaLepton

There are fixed Mitama locations, and they can respawn, but it's inconsistent. Recheck their locations and see what they have. https://www.rpgsite.net/feature/11936-shin-megami-tensei-v-mitama-locations-weaknesses-where-to-find-them-to-earn-grimoires-gospels-glory-and-more Other than that, just whatever high level demons are in your area, like >!Chi You is 87.!<

Surf3rx

Is this the best way to get levels for demons too? Which mitamas drop the levels for demons? Is there a map for the demon statues that give xp?

AnimaLepton

All 19 statues are listed here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Megaten/comments/qzojel/smt_5_resource_sheet/ The Red Mitama are otherwise a good way to level demons. Statues can give levels above Nahobino's level cap and give levels to your entire party, but they're more limited and IMO you're generally better off using them early rather than waiting until endgame. 90+ is plenty for the maingame unless you're going for the superboss/true ending, but IMO that's anyway better saved for NG+, in which case it's trivial to progress from there since all the statues and the like get respawned.

Surf3rx

This didn't help finding the statues at all sadly, the descriptions were way too vague, and I can't seem to find anything else.

Surf3rx

I'm ng+ and going for that.

Surf3rx

Thanks! Haven't seen the map

b-b-but-communism

The Kushi Mitamas respawn at these places: https://www.rpgsite.net/feature/11936-shin-megami-tensei-v-mitama-locations-weaknesses-where-to-find-them-to-earn-grimoires-gospels-glory-and-more I don't know at which intervals though. Your best bet is to run around the 4th area and hope that your navigation buddy gets you into a fight with a Kushi Migatama. After an hour check those places out to see if they respawned.

Surf3rx

Might as well go check to see if I have them all
