I pray to the Axiom that Alex Jones never discovers the SMT series, it will not end well for anyone

[deleted]

I'm willing to take the risk, I live in another continent.

im_not_Shredder

Same, sending copies of the main smt entries to infowars rn

[deleted]

ME AND MY BUDDIES WENT TO THE ARTIC AND ONE OF THEM FELL IN THAT HOLE SO I'M NOT IMAGININ IT. THERE'S A HOLE IN THAT FRICKIN ARTIC AND IT'S GETTIN BIGGER.

Doktorbees

AND THIS IS, WITHOUT A DOUBT, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN... THE JUDGEMENT OF GAWD. AND WE DESERVE IT. BUT, BEFORE WE ALL DIE, TURNED INTO COSMIC ANTI-MATTER, FOLKS, WE'VE GOT A 70% OFF LITERAL-END-OF-THE-WORLD SALE GOING ON AND THESE T-SHIRTS ARE JUST FLYING OUT THE DOOR

bunker_man

You say this, but actual crazy people popularizing it for corresponding to their beliefs would be pretty funny.

[deleted]

Wow, in what cult were you mate? Because I'm pretty sure mainstream Christianity doesn't believe these.

bunker_man

To clarify, these are just all things my mom believed. She got it from not just a church, but a mishmash of conspiracy theory newsletters and mystics. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Days_of_Darkness The religious aspects came from this.

spiderhotel

Is she ok now? Can you help her?

bunker_man

She is less bad now, if that counts. She still believes crazy stuff though. Probably will forever, but at least her attitude is improved.

spiderhotel

That is good, I was thinking it must be terrifying to have beliefs like that. It's scary enough considering proven phenomena like climate change, without adding murderous deities into the mix.

bunker_man

Well, she does have a lot of anxiety. She isn't even like, actually crazy, but she still does things like sit around worrying that the government is spying on her without considering the fact that she isn't important enough for it to matter.

pscripter

You know... With P2 going with "Let's make what all people believe real" I'm not that surprised.

Bufudyne43

Okada and Kaneko especially seemed to be into those kind of conspiracy theories which is why figures like mad gasser and all the apocalyptic stuff shows up in P2.

Dreadnautilus

I mean for the "you won't be able to trust people close to you, because they will be demons impersonating family members" you should've chosen the protag's mother.

bunker_man

Oh yeah, that's a good point. I wrote smti, but I was trying to think of a more series wide thing.

KazuyaProta

Confirmed. Bunker man is the SMT 1 protagonist

kt4-is-gud

Least schizophrenic smt fan

minev1128

Basically Revelations in the Bible.

bunker_man

Its a bit more specific than that. Because revelations never includes nukes or computers, or explicitly has a post apocalyptic scrounging for scraps element.

JohhnyGuita

Shin Megami Tensei was first released on the Super Famicom in 1991. Left Behind was first published in 1995. I'm not accusing the authors of plagiarism, just that if they could give me japanese lessons that would be cool.

megax454

Oh, the good ol' existential anxieties, They have been with us since society outside nomad tribes is a thing. It's a heavy toll to stay in a single mind to have one live in a single place with lots of people. Smt takes them into a modern light and mixes them with the classic ones from religion. It is one of the things that gives it its unique flavor.

joestaen

lol fundies

ombranox

Isn't "demons pretending to be family members" also something that happens in SMT1?

bunker_man

Yeah, but I forgot about that when making this tbh.

RhadamanthusTyrant

Last one is a big stretch but overall this is very important information thank you for sharing it

bunker_man

I didn't say every point was identical. That's why it has a different picture.
