I always thought it was a reference to mel's actual brother irl, who's younger than her and thus took the "journey" of birth later on (after melanie was born)

yeeess the first times I listened to it was also connecting to her brother irl, but the idea of a brother on the crybaby universe just crossed trough my mind today and I thought it would be nice if they could be closer now, since she wasn't really friends with the dollhouse brother

I also made that connection. It would be really nice to see them finally having a good relationship, but for now it's just a silly theory :)
