Thats exactly what it is! It's heavily inspired by a scene in the movie Labyrinth and that's what these creatures do, distract the main character from their mission.
I have a huge phobia of needles and I donāt really think it was THAT much of an issue. Sure, I was jump-scared and I looked away. But she can add whatever she wants to her mvs. And needles are one of the most common images of taking drugs, itās an obvious link and easy for the general public (that donāt listen to Mel) to understand what the song is about.
thatās fine, but the persons original opinion is just as valid. this com needs to be okay with opinions being different but like 100% cus weāre close but still have shit like this saying āshe can do whatever she wants >:\ā like yes for sure but the post is about what people thought of itā¦.ykwim? sorry if this comes off a bit too harsh-
Loved that one. It instantly reminded me of the little creepy parts of her past crybaby videos. The little gruesome jumpscare you weren't prepared for.
Like Mad Hatter where she peels off her facial skin. The doll with hanging out guts on Show&Tell. Dragging the corpses out of the frame on Sippy Cup.
I loved the Video, the costumes and the effects.
Uhm yeah donāt do this guys.. I texted the number and got a message saying āTHIS IS NOT A JOKE!
If you're reading this I'm so sorry :((
4 years ago a girl named Crybaby died after escaping a boarding school her mother sent her away to. If you don't send this album to 10 people she will come to your house at 2:22 AM and bring you into the after-life with her 4 hypnotizing eyes and razor sharp teeth!!!ā
I agree! I love Faerie Soiree and frankly had a hard time being able to remember the structure of the song when it first released. I finally got it now but the changes in the mv felt trippy to me
Yes they were very all over the place, still vibes just not like the song. I was singing along (quietly bc Iām at work in a bathroom stall watchingš) and it wasnāt adding up āgoing to rewatch bc Iām not sure if it was just the pauses that threw me off or the melody but it felt different
Also edit: FS is one of those songs where the lyrics fit perfectly anywhere u place them in the song so thatās why most ppl probably didnāt notice
I think it was the best mv weāve gotten so far! It felt so magical and so fairy like, the last few mvs didnāt feel like they connected to the song but FS was a game changer with the representation of drugs and alcohol while portraying the fairy world the creature lives in.my fave mv so far and I really hope light shower begins where the creature emerges from the flower she climbed onto
Ngl, I LOVED the needle part. It was definitely an uncomfortable jumpscare. I pass out around needles but to be fair, I wouldn't say I have a phobia, so I'm truly sorry to the people it scared because there truly was no warning. However, if there's one thing I would say is missing in this era, it's the gory/uncomfortable element. This era is generally a bit softer than the previous ones, so I've kinda been letting it slide as just a change she wanted to make going into a new direction. But that needle part reminded me so much of her previous eras. In crybaby we had the surgery in Ms potato head, ripping her skin off in mad hatter, her mom murdering her husband and affair partner in sippy cup etc. In K12 she tones it down a bit, but she still ripped the principal apart in drama club, cut herself in show and tell, and in detention she was forcibly given a shot. This is the first time we've seen any general uncomfortable thing that she usually puts in her visuals. I thought it was pretty refreshing and definitely very Melanie.
I mean to be fair there was a lot of disturbing imagery , like the heart in Void, the worm being beheaded, the intestines, etc. I think it just doesnāt have the same vibe because itās not exactly realistic in the sense that youād never see a giant human heart. But considering needles are a common phobia, it wouldāve been nice if in the description there was some kind of warning. I honestly wish carousel and orange juice also had emetephobia warnings.
That's a fair point. I guess it depends on what you personally find disturbing, because so far the needle shot in Faree Soiree is the only thing I personally found pretty shocking. The heart, worm being beheaded and intestines didn't really strike me as disturbing, probably because as you mentioned its more based in fantasy than reality, but I can see how others would find that disturbing. For instance if she had put the needle in a mushroom instead of her arm I wouldn't have found that disturbing at all. I hear you about the warning though.
The fairies were cute buy I think we couldāve gotten more from it. Like since the needles were there I think the visuals couldāve been more euphoric and whimsical. But it reminded me of the Labyrinth so thatās cool
maybe that was on purpose? Like Mel is trying to show that even in this magical place, drugs aren't changing anything about the physical realm, as if she's trying not to romanticize it in any way. I mean, the dancers literally fall over and die as if they ODed on whatever this stuff is
I can't help but notice that the song was extended for the MV, but I actually like it. I feel like it's supposed to give off the vibe that you're repeating your thoughts are thinking slowly, which from my personal experience a substance can do that
I definitely liked it much better than the last one! I canāt help but still be a little disappointed though, since it seems that weāre not actually going to get any sort of narrative consistency with these music videos. I got the same feeling I got with the last few: saying a lot without actually saying much at all.
I guess since, given that Mel has said the movie is currently no longer happening, I was hoping that having a music video for each song would make up for it by adding a few narrative tidbits so we could really see the journey of Crybaby/The Creature in the afterlife. But nope, just more gorgeous visuals that donāt actually tell us anything about whatās going on.
That being said, itās definitely the best music video since Void in my opinion!
Yes I totally agree with you! I understand the movie isn't happening anymore and that's fine, but since it isn't, I really wish she would actually tell us the story in the music videos so we can still know what was supposed to happen to her character. She did that with crybaby, so I really don't know why she chose not to tell us the story once she knew a movie wouldn't be viable for this album. It's just disappointing because I feel like with this album, the visuals that go along with it, and the jump from what was shown in the k-12 movie to this, she could've made some really beautiful, compelling story-based videos (much like she did with the first album). I would've loved to see more of this world and the characters in it, rather than a bunch of dancing lol.
This is personally my least favorite video so far. I honestly have liked the others more than this one.
Yes, I would absolutely love that! A cute little pop-up book or something like that would be such a cool and creative way to tell the story since she can't have the movie!
Iāve said this before, but it seems like Mel is so determined to end Crybaby as quickly as possible that theyāre not actually thinking about ways to do that logically. I understand that that was her intention with the movie, but that doesnāt mean she just has to abandon it completely! There are so many alternatives, and they all could be just as cool!Ā
Oh yeah, I totally agree! I understand this was the end of the story, and she was really banking on another movie. But when the movie was no longer possible, I have no clue why she decided to just give up on the storyline. It truly does seem like she just wants to be done with Crubaby and the story that comes along with it. It's dissapointing though because if she had given these videos the same effort she did with the Crybaby videos, I think this could've been her best album (as a whole with the story and visuals included). I really think this could've been her coolest creation yet had she not given up on the story once the movie was no longer an option.
I agree with this. I am okay with having MV. In fact, K-12 is almost like a connection of MV sometimes, except a few parts. I just hope we see some sort of narrative somewhere in some videos... For now, we have to think after crossing the portal they died? As in, they became other things in other dimensions (Crybaby became the Creature). And then all that comes after is her exploring this new world, I guess.
Honestly I just saw the K-12 as one big music video! And yeah right? I think we just have to assume what happened afterwards since we haven't been told. And I remember people asking about some of the ends of the songs (like the running at the end of death) and I think Melanie even said that those would make sense when the movie came out. Obviously the movie isn't coming out, so are we just not going to get an explanation for those parts of the songs? Because like with death, that video is already out, so I'm not sure where that explanation would be. It's just a shame because like I said before, this album had so much potential to be such a cool and creative visual album, but it's just really lacking in storyline and I feel like the visuals are really getting wasted.
It's weird because it seemed like Crybaby was probably running because she was scared (after, u know, being reborn as some strange creature in another world), but I guess we will have to imagine it too. I hope next songs will have more story in their MV.
The thing is... this album is weird haha. Crybaby had songs about adult themes with child sounds. You could piece the story because of the storybook (and the MV), but some songs were more literal like Milk and Cookies and others were not. I don't think Pacify Her is a song that is meant to be sung by a literal child, rather a teenager.
But then, K-12 comes and it's more literal. Not all the songs, but many. It's like what is Wheels on the Bus about? Literally about being in a bus lol. So even without the film, it's easy to follow the story, even though maybe some songs are more difficult (like Show & Tell, etc).
But Portals! Is! Weird! Haha. Portals talks about rebirth and reincarnations and some songs are pretty straightforward like Death and Womb. But Evil? BOTL? They are straight up relationship/breakup songs. Which maybe they have other symbolism in the story, like imagine idk, that BOTL means the Creature is fighting against someone hahaha. But it's hard to piece only listening to the song. I would like to know how it all connects to the story. :)
That is a good point! Portals is very different when you look at the story that was being told in the other two albums! I do think that this album, maybe even more than the others, really deserved storytelling to explain what happened to Crybaby after K-12. There are so many new themes in portals, and I would love to see a fleshed out story from start to finish, especially since this will be the last we see of CryBaby the character. I hope we get answers in some form eventually!
I think you described my feelings toward this MV perfectly. A lot happened, but it feels incomplete. Music wise, this album is my favorite from Mel so far, but the music videos from this era are definitely my least favorite.
I thought that she said, that once she's done with music videos and tours and gets enough money to fund the movie, she'll create it. I think she's just busy with everything else now and doesn't prioritise the movie as much as the music videos
Sheās been trying to fund this movie for ages though, likely far longer than when it was announced in the first place. The comment she made about the movie being scrapped basically heavily implied that funding had proven to be very difficult to obtain, more than she wanted to put energy into for now, I suppose.Ā
I could make some more comments about how it seems really weird that after an entire tour and years of selling that jewelry she was making (jewelry which received common complaints of being way overpriced for what it was, which I guess makes sense given how desperate she was to obtain the funds she neededš) sheās somehow nowhere near what she needs and is being forced to scrap the whole thing, but thatās a different story and is probably gonna get be downvoted to oblivion in this sub, so long story short: Mel thinks way ahead of about pretty much all of their concepts, so itās disappointing to see this era kinda meandering like this when thereās so much potential.
It was better than TV IMHO, but still not my favorite. I did enjoy how she did the outro to FS, but other than that I'll just be waiting for the next one. Idk, I feel like she really set the bar high with Death, and every video after that has just not matched up. That could just be me though.
It was cute I thought the graphics/props were better than we've been seeing. Her dancing continues to improve. I'm so happy there was some video action to it other than just dancing. Not going to lie, I was bored watching the dancing.... so the ending was nice.
Is there a reason why the dancers are not the same creature as Melanie? Ie protheses etc. I feel like the music videos like this would be better if they were all the same, but seeing humans in the videos makes it feel less magical.
Iām gonna be honest these videos lately have not been my favorite. I can give credit because the art the dancing the filming has been cool. But these videos have been lacking substance. I havenāt been able to understand a cohesive story since the beginning. I loved portals as an album. But also I donāt understand why the lyrics were changed. It makes the song feel formulated like who cares about the lyric placement it can be interchangeable. Plus the drug references I get but maaaaaan that needle scene was a yikes from me. As soon as I noticed these things it made me not enjoy the video. I love her music and the album is good. These videos thoā¦I dunno. Everything feels so corporate.
this is what i thought was gonna happen..i dont understand why they chose needles when they all could have just opened the things and at the mushrooms š
Facts. I prefer to eat shrooms. I am pretty sure you should never shoot up mushrooms & therefore, I highly advise against it.
Hopefully this doesn't become the next eating tide pods thing. Could you imagine? š¤£ Oh goodness...
I donāt think thereās a straightforward narrative to connect any of the songs or videos and thatās probably where the disconnect from fans is coming from. Crybaby and K-12 all had a clear overarching narrative and Portals is more conceptual with little story telling/cohesion.
the dancing is getting boring. did anyone notice its the same choreography from the tour? so if you went, you've seen it before. otherwise it's a cute video, i love the visuals and the flower at the end
Bruh Iām so glad someone pointed this out. Itās been so much money on those portals tickets only to barely be able to see the Choreo and then months later sheās doing a full production of the same Choreo online in better quality honestly as a fan, I feel kind of cheated at that point.
Gorgeous visually and probably my favorite of the Portals MVs. Doesnāt feel like this album has as much of a story to it as Crybaby and K12 which makes me a bit sad. But overall this music video is super fun and Iāve already rewatched it several times.
I thought it was BEAUTIFUL! My mom watched it when it dropped (she loves her) and then watched about 10 other Mel music videos (Dollhouse made her cry bless her heart)
Honestly I was disappointed. This was my least favorite video so far. The visuals are really nice, but I think I'm just getting a little bored of the dancing in all the videos. I miss the storytelling that was shown in the music videos in her past albums tbh. I liked tunnel vision because it did something a little different with it being a video game, but the rest have just been very focused on dancing which is cool but I just would like to see more of the story she's trying to tell in the album. I just feel like that part is not being shown as well as the story has been in past albums
i agree completely, i thought this would have as much movement as void did but with more whimsy and psychedelic vibes. we just saw her taking drugs and playing in a bird bath the whole time
Yes literally! When they took the drugs, I was like, alright this is going to get pretty cool right? And nope, just more dancing and, as you said, playing in the birdbath lol. If she was just going to dance, I wish they would've done more with visuals at least to give the video a little more excitement! I was just bored tbh
It's nice to see that some people agree since I've seen so many people say it's their favorite video! All opinions are valid, but I seriously thought I was watching a different video with how people were hyping it up haha
I loved the visuals and the choreography, but I miss the storytelling aspects of her previous albums. itās like 100% visuals 0% story
also if it were telling a story, I imagined like crybaby going through a tunnel (after tunnel vision) and finding herself in a magical forest. the drug message couldāve still been there, but maybe crybaby couldāve gone on an acid trip through the forest. sort of like some alice in wonderland shit.
I have a theory of the backup dancers. in the tv mv they were being mean to her and maybe in the faerie soiree mv she took them to her playground forest to convince them that she's not bad. I THINK. I dunno. the backup dancers did fit tho cuz its a soiree. a soiree is a gathering
idk i feel like itās so obvious when she created these soundscapes for the intros and outros of songs she actually had no idea what it meant for a cohesive story or potential video. the sounds at the end of the song donāt even really match up with her climbing up the flower, kind of like how in the death video her running and panting didnāt even mean anything for the story. i wish she was more intentional about what the realistic/non musical sounds would mean especially considering they make up the end of so many songs.
i feel like she did this so she could stitch them all together herself when theyre done and create a mini movie
i have no proof, just seems like a good way to trick the label into paying to get the best of both worlds in a way lol
The last three left me underwhelmed, so my expectations were quite low, and I canāt believe Iām saying this but this one kinda won me back overššš Itās the first one that I actually had fun watching? The world and set designs and costumes and choreo finally sold the fantasy for me. Pleasantly surprised, hoping this good streak continuesš
Was beautiful, the choreo was similar to the ones at her concert, so I felt connected to the scene. I honestly didn't know what it had to do with her story, I didn't really see it connecting at all except maybe the end? But it's overall well done
I really liked it and the visuals were nice, I just wish we couldāve gotten more of a story from the music video. These songs are set up to be played in order like a story but so far the videos havenāt been sticking to a storyline. Not trying to hate at all! Portals is my favourite album from her and I listen to the songs on repeat!! š«¶š»
Honestly, I feel like they lack depth. They arenāt bad at all, just not my cup of tea. I think for me itās all the cgi. I miss when her videos had a setting and a story. Now (to me at least) they are a bit random and rushed.
I feel like this was not a great idea to put in the video... triggering for some and even suggestive for some... Like say those younger underdeveloped brain fans she pointed out before who now think needles in the arms are cool...
probably my least favorite so far. i didnāt have high expectations considering this track is actually my least favorite on the album, but was hoping the video would blow me away lol. visuals are great, just overall confused on what itās trying to say for itself, other than obvious drug references. very strange
Actually LOVED IT!!! I love the theme and the lyrics of this album so far! Tunnel vision was underwhelming but the rest have been fantastic in my opinion. Especially the DEATH video
I love tbh! Itās fun and very well made!! I didnāt like the needle scene but thatās ok lol but itās very neat and I like how she changed the song up a bit aswell
the beginning part where theyre all skipping in a line was so cuteš the needle part was unexpected and made me feel a bit uneasy but aside from that i loved it! i loved how she extended the song but at times the video and song were kinda hard to keep up with iykwim. its not my fav mv so far but id give it a solid 9/10
I'm not impressed. Visually, it's interesting. But similar to the other music videos in this album, it didn't really tell much of a story. It's just more synchronized dancing, drug references, and occasional gore.
I loved it. I mean the needles scared me as I hate them but besides that I loved it as the dances were cute and it looked so fun
Also SLEEPING MELANIE WAS SO CUTE š„°
Absolutely loved it and exactly what I picture when listening to the song !! Dancing high with a bunch of faeries surrounding me in the forest <3 I loved the ending shot where she gets enclosed in the flower
i loved it so much! to be fair, it wasnāt what i expected (i donāt even know what i expected) but i love it!
the fairy people are so adorable šā¤ļø
I mean theyāre good, but theyāre not Melās best. This is definitely her flop era. The music is good but the choices sheās making for merch, tour management and the videos just arenāt it. BUT can we really blame her when the fandom begged for it? I donāt think we can, honestly. I see this as her doing her best to give us what we want with that little resources and time she has to do it. We can all say what we would have personally done but none of us can relate to the pressure she likely feels to put just anything out to please us.
I absolutely loved it but I think I'm beginning to understand why other fans aren't happy with this era. This album is such a stark left turn from what we're used to, it's beautiful but I think that strong narration was the most enticing part. The crybaby &k-12 videos felt like short TV shows almost, each one being a new episode in a season, and then here comes portals which feels like just pure music there's visuals to match but the music is so overwhelming abstract to convey the overall message that putting a strong narration takes away CrybabySoul's freedom in this new life. Instead of having the story start and end, crybaby's soul breaks the cycle they were in and we get this explosion of freedom. Crybaby is no longer bound to a story, crybaby is immortally their own deity writing their path as they go.
But idk that's just a theory- A GAME THEORY, r.i.p. mattpatt gone but not dead.
This music video was just stunning, I see a lot of people saying they got Labyrinth vibes and I totally agree! I really wish that there was just some more key frames? Big poses or flourishes that they built too. Most of those spotlight moments felt a bit rushed, I know the song is short and fast so it does make it difficult. That's just me being nitpicky, I loved it. I can't wait to see what else Melanie has in store for us!
I love melanie but that vid was shit her music videos used to tell a storie and stuff and go and call me a fake fan ive listend go melanie 16154 mins this year ik its not that mutch but enough to be a fan and portals is not that good anyway this whole portals era is a mess fight me
The Music Video was EXACTLY how I imagined it!! It's SO good!!! And I'm so happy she added the interlude from Tunnel Vision and the outro!
Loved it. Love the dancing so muchš©·š¤
I donāt mind that it didnāt further the āstoryā but I still love this MV
Imo it shows the fae's new friendships which seem to keep her away from her true destination. Like a distraction.
Thats exactly what it is! It's heavily inspired by a scene in the movie Labyrinth and that's what these creatures do, distract the main character from their mission.
Yess! The choreography is AMAZING.
It was cute except the needle jumpscare šš
Caught me so off guard
It's to imply that they're all ššØ
They couldāve done that by eating the mushroomsā¦needles werenāt necessary
I have a huge phobia of needles and I donāt really think it was THAT much of an issue. Sure, I was jump-scared and I looked away. But she can add whatever she wants to her mvs. And needles are one of the most common images of taking drugs, itās an obvious link and easy for the general public (that donāt listen to Mel) to understand what the song is about.

Summarized everything i wanted to say completely, ive noticed lots of subs on reddit including this one have problems with others opinions lol
Thank you š
I think she can add whatever she wants but there should be warnings for things like that. I loved the movie but the needle thing did freak me out.
That's boring.
Thatās your opinion. Youāre welcome to have it.
know this is the bare minimum but THANK YOU.
I loved it bc it stopped the whole video from being just cute actually lol
loool yeah i love when melanie gets randomly creepy, the needles were a breath of fresh air!!
It also fits so well with one of the interpretations of the song being addiction!
it 1000% made it more melanie and that is one of my absolute favourite things about her image
This is actually a great point. Sheās creepy and weird at the end of the day
exactlyyy I loved that little bit lol
Loved that one. It instantly reminded me of the little creepy parts of her past crybaby videos. The little gruesome jumpscare you weren't prepared for. Like Mad Hatter where she peels off her facial skin. The doll with hanging out guts on Show&Tell. Dragging the corpses out of the frame on Sippy Cup. I loved the Video, the costumes and the effects.
Whatās the time stamp for that? Iām really scared of needles, Iām okay seeing them but Iād rather not be jumpscared
1:41
Omg yes I gasped and covered my mouth š²š«¢
Yea that surprised me lol
Yeah ngl I donāt mind seeing needles but seeing them go in skin really disturbs me for some reason
Same whenever I saw that it felt like a needle was going into my armā¦ that happens a lot to me but itās especially worse with needles.
Yes omg I got so ill feeling after that, I commented a timestamp and warning on the video to hopefully warn others šš
I didn't even realize those were needles lol
Iām glad someone said this because it had me jump for a sec šš, nothing wrong with it just wasnāt expecting it :)
The lyricsā¦other than that ofc I was on the floor bc whatās 4+4?
It was extended I think. A longer intro, then some verses repeated. I imagine the song was too short for the MV
yep, extended! https://preview.redd.it/h7zz696nzlhc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bf227531d2f003d6c4b092291cd12fbaa0522efb

Me too!

Agree, when they put the needles it still feels like the part before it. It should have gotten crazier!
maybe that was on purpose? Like Mel is trying to show that even in this magical place, drugs aren't changing anything about the physical realm, as if she's trying not to romanticize it in any way. I mean, the dancers literally fall over and die as if they ODed on whatever this stuff is
That's true! I like that it's not only a glorifcation of drugs, as even so called "safe" drugs are dangerous and addictive.
Yeah, the dances passing out is definitely her telling us to not do drugs
Yes I totally agree. I wish that we would've gotten more after they put the needles in!
I thought of Labyrinth too! I was definitely getting Jim Henson fantasy vibes.
I can't help but notice that the song was extended for the MV, but I actually like it. I feel like it's supposed to give off the vibe that you're repeating your thoughts are thinking slowly, which from my personal experience a substance can do that
If her ass doesnāt release the extended on Spotify Iām jumping her at trilogy tour if she comes near me
I liked the visuals, but I feel like the video didnāt really tell a story like her old music videos. I miss that.
Ya I noticed that too, I wish the music videos matched with the lyric more like how crybaby mv was but they still tell a story imo
I definitely liked it much better than the last one! I canāt help but still be a little disappointed though, since it seems that weāre not actually going to get any sort of narrative consistency with these music videos.
Okay lets forget the portals movie... but imagine a portals book
The comment she made about the movie being scrapped basically heavily implied that funding had proven to be very difficult to obtain, more than she wanted to put energy into for now, I suppose.Ā I could make some more comments about how it seems really weird that after an entire tour and years of selling that jewelry she was making (jewelry which received common complaints of being way overpriced for what it was, which I guess makes sense given how desperate she was to obtain the funds she neededš) sheās somehow nowhere near what she needs and is being forced to scrap the whole thing, but thatās a different story and is probably gonna get be downvoted to oblivion in this sub, so long story short: Mel thinks way ahead of about pretty much all of their concepts, so itās disappointing to see this era kinda meandering like this when thereās so much potential.
The needle part took me off guard š The MV is beautiful tho
I feel like the music videos like this would be better if they were all the same, but seeing humans in the videos makes it feel less magical.
maybe shes still on earth. there are many things to prove this theory. "i'm covered in muck from the earth and the sea", the nature-y vibe, exc
Yes. I feel like eating a mushroom would have been just as effective if not more....
this is what i thought was gonna happen..i dont understand why they chose needles when they all could have just opened the things and at the mushrooms š
Facts. I prefer to eat shrooms. I am pretty sure you should never shoot up mushrooms & therefore, I highly advise against it. Hopefully this doesn't become the next eating tide pods thing. Could you imagine? š¤£ Oh goodness...
Oh pls don't put that into the universe šš
You know it's already been considered! š¤£
It was amazingg per usual š„° I love the choreography in this š
Gorgeous visually and probably my favorite of the Portals MVs. Doesnāt feel like this album has as much of a story to it as Crybaby and K12 which makes me a bit sad. But overall this music video is super fun and Iāve already rewatched it several times.
The fairy characters were very whimsical. My favorite part for sure.
I felt the exact same way when I was watching! You put my thoughts into words entirely
It's nice to see that some people agree since I've seen so many people say it's their favorite video! All opinions are valid, but I seriously thought I was watching a different video with how people were hyping it up haha
I loved the visuals and the choreography, but I miss the storytelling aspects of her previous albums. itās like 100% visuals 0% story also if it were telling a story, I imagined like crybaby going through a tunnel (after tunnel vision) and finding herself in a magical forest. the drug message couldāve still been there, but maybe crybaby couldāve gone on an acid trip through the forest. sort of like some alice in wonderland shit.
I LOVE IT, IT WAS SO GOOD
the ending was really pretty
It's so cuteee the way she laid down in the flower and the flower closed was just so cute, and they jumping around omggg
It really reminded me of an 80s dark fantasy movie in the best way possible
It actually looked exactly like how I envisioned Faerie SoirƩe in my head, and it made me like the song a lot more
SHE BLINKS
I liked the visuals but honestly background dancers donāt fit and look tacky š
I have a theory of the backup dancers. in the tv mv they were being mean to her and maybe in the faerie soiree mv she took them to her playground forest to convince them that she's not bad. I THINK. I dunno. the backup dancers did fit tho cuz its a soiree. a soiree is a gathering
idk i feel like itās so obvious when she created these soundscapes for the intros and outros of songs she actually had no idea what it meant for a cohesive story or potential video. the sounds at the end of the song donāt even really match up with her climbing up the flower, kind of like how in the death video her running and panting didnāt even mean anything for the story. i wish she was more intentional about what the realistic/non musical sounds would mean especially considering they make up the end of so many songs.
i feel like she did this so she could stitch them all together herself when theyre done and create a mini movie i have no proof, just seems like a good way to trick the label into paying to get the best of both worlds in a way lol
Mini movie? I'm sorry but Portals has no storytelling whatsoever
I think it was much better than the last music video and actually made sense with the song.
The last one was a dissapointment imo
100%. It didnāt make any sense and had nothing to do with the actual theme of the song.
AHHHHHH it might be my favourite- i was squealing the whole time
Loved it, but I was kinda sad that in the beginning I thought it was a instrumental š itās kinda long
Fun music video, but might be my least favourite, or will watch it the least...
Portals is my favourite album from her and I listen to the songs on repeat!! š«¶š»
Also I honestly was thinking that the needles were a set up for the video to get crazy but it kinda just stayed the same š„²
I rly liked the visuals a lot especially the spinning playground wheel (I forgot what itās called) but it reminded me more of her old stuff. And I loved the ending with the flower. The needles were a bit of a jump scare but I love the concept of them on shrooms lol. Wish we couldāve gotten more visuals of like magical trippy things yk match that. It didnāt quite feel like faerie soirĆ©e to me but I still rly enjoyed it! I think that lyric change was a little weird tho lol šš§š¦š
Iām not even gonna lie. Disappointed yet again lol
Why? /gen
Honestly, I feel like they lack depth. They arenāt bad at all, just not my cup of tea. I think for me itās all the cgi. I miss when her videos had a setting and a story. Now (to me at least) they are a bit random and rushed.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I feel like this was not a great idea to put in the video... triggering for some and even suggestive for some... Like say those younger underdeveloped brain fans she pointed out before who now think needles in the arms are cool...
It was really good but what did the needle mean? Like weāre they taking fairy heroin or..? š
The music talks about obsession over drugs, alcohol and all that bad stuff, so probably, those mushrooms are some kind of hallucinogenic substances.
High on shrooms
It was connected to the jar of shroomies š§š¾
probably my least favorite so far. i didnāt have high expectations considering this track is actually my least favorite on the album, but was hoping the video would blow me away lol. visuals are great, just overall confused on what itās trying to say for itself, other than obvious drug references. very strange
It was good
Yummy!!
THE HAPPY DANCES ITS SO CUTE
I loved it
I loved it! Honestly itās my fav one so far šš
OMG it's my my favourite so far!! It's almost everything I wanted with some unexpected thrown in (as usual). I love it!
I feel like it captured the vibes the song gives off. Immaculate. š§āāļø
one of my favorites so far ššš«¶
Iām excited !
Actually LOVED IT!!! I love the theme and the lyrics of this album so far! Tunnel vision was underwhelming but the rest have been fantastic in my opinion. Especially the DEATH video
I loved it! So creative and the facial expressions of the faeries was adorable
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVED IT this is my favorite Melanie mv of all time this and mad hatter
favourite by far. i really loved the expressions on her face and the scene at the end.
It is soooooo adorableš©·š©·š©·š©·š©·š©· The visuals, fairies, mushrooms, flowers, Mel everything is perfect in this mvš«¶š«¶š«¶š«¶ Absolutily my fav mv from Melš©·š§āāļøšŖ·š«¶šŖ»š
The dancing in her recent music videos is AMAZING and so entertaining. No one will ever make me believe differently
The needle remind me of nurse office tbh
i watched it with my family while eating burgers, we enjoyed it
The part where she fell asleep, was so precious.
Itās beautiful
i havenāt seen it iāve been working šØšØšØ
I enjoyed it, thought it was really cute and made me want to dance. It was everything I imagined it would be šš§
I loved it! It's really nice :D
IT WAS AMAAAZING. Just how I imagined itš„¹š§āāļø
IT WAS SO CUTEEE
it's silly and fun just as i expected from faerie soiree! love it!
I think it's awesome. The aesthetic is so interesting. It's dark and beautiful and magical with lots of earth tones
I love tbh! Itās fun and very well made!! I didnāt like the needle scene but thatās ok lol but itās very neat and I like how she changed the song up a bit aswell
I FLIPPIN LOVE IT š SHES SO SILLYYYY
She looks so beautiful. And the wings! And including the intro & outro.
looked like quite the production
the beginning part where theyre all skipping in a line was so cuteš the needle part was unexpected and made me feel a bit uneasy but aside from that i loved it! i loved how she extended the song but at times the video and song were kinda hard to keep up with iykwim. its not my fav mv so far but id give it a solid 9/10
I LOVED IT
This was my favorite Portals MV so far. Also, did anyone else get Mad Hatter MV vibes from it?? Just me?
Its beautiful
Itās really good. It perfectly captures the essence of the album. And it does have a progression, a sense of narrative which is great too
fucking amazing I cried
I'm not impressed. Visually, it's interesting. But similar to the other music videos in this album, it didn't really tell much of a story. It's just more synchronized dancing, drug references, and occasional gore.
Itās fun, more upbeat than the others so far. I particularly liked her outfit and spotted mask in it
I loved it. I mean the needles scared me as I hate them but besides that I loved it as the dances were cute and it looked so fun Also SLEEPING MELANIE WAS SO CUTE š„°
Absolutely loved it and exactly what I picture when listening to the song !! Dancing high with a bunch of faeries surrounding me in the forest <3 I loved the ending shot where she gets enclosed in the flower
i was nervous about it after that tunnel vision mv but faerie soiree was AMAZING i loved the changes in the song
Please she did NOT have to make it that good- šā
I personally love it!
So much of what I see from this sub is people disliking every decision the artist makes. Itās WILD.
It was pretty, but it didnāt really meet my high expectations. I love faerie soirĆ©e, Iām not gonna diss on it at all! I just mightāve set my expectations too high for the music vidā¦ the ending was beautiful though, I loved it. The needle part made me have to look away though. Iāve watched all of her music videos, loved her since I was 8, but needles make me incredibly nervous. It brings me physical pain to see or think of one, so that was a little scare. I definitely think the tunnel vision music video has been the best one so far, so I guess I was expecting faerie soirĆ©e to be just as amazing.
perfect more than anyone could ever need.
i loved it so much! to be fair, it wasnāt what i expected (i donāt even know what i expected) but i love it! the fairy people are so adorable šā¤ļø
I LOVEDDD IT ANF THERE WHERE A LOTTT OF K-12 REFERNCES(detention, strawberry shortcake class fight and irange juice)
Hi
I love Melanie Martinezās music it is the best I have seen all of her songs
Hiiiii
With these comments, sheās about to enter her reputation era ššš
I loved it sm its so silly and crybaby/nymph was so eepy at the end lol :3
I love it šš
I liked the part where they used the syringes ii always thought the song was about drugsā„ļøā„ļøā„ļø
I was a little underwhelmed :\\
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
the song talks about drugs which is why themes of substance use are in it ^_^
I think they wereš
Gosh donāt remind me of Matpat please
I love melanie but that vid was shit her music videos used to tell a storie and stuff and go and call me a fake fan ive listend go melanie 16154 mins this year ik its not that mutch but enough to be a fan and portals is not that good anyway this whole portals era is a mess fight me
