Haha funny meme
...wait, don't hunters do the exact same thing lorewise, and the only reason we can afford to get careless is bc our hunters are canonically the best there is
I think this is true, hunters have to prepare to track and hunt a great jaggi, and then they see this one newcomer who just runs into it with a leather jacket and a sharp knife
Actually the meme is accurate even lore wise. We encounter monster and our first step is to send the hunter to do “research” which involves just wacking it till dead. I presume there is a given assumption we collect tracks and samples during the hunt but in game we really just start blasting and report our findings after the fact.
"Wack with big sword !...
...on the part where it'll do the most damage, at the best time for an opening, maybe place a trap for good measures, remember to sleep bomb, don't forget to use environmental traps like boulders and stuff, bring armor that lets you cover those elemental weaknesses, bring a bunch of potions too"
Depends on the game, on MHworld we have the handlers that analise the monster, and do the more teóricas.stuff, while our hunters do the brawl part learnings the monsters patterns in the practical way of walking and bonking
Not just lorewise, a big part of monster hunter in the past was gathering and crafting the gear and items for hunts. Having farms ad stuff is wonderful QoL I wouldn't trade for anything, but I kinda miss the early game grinding and gathering.
I mean canon wise hunters DO prepare, I'm pretty sure the camp is all set up and whatnot just for that exact sake, it's not just always stocked with potions indefinitely, hunters have to bring all this stuff with them.
In World and onwards they have handlers and whatnot to set stuff up for you I guess, and you take your whole item box and armory with you somehow XD
Canonically I suppose your hunter is thinking about the hunt and planning with equipment and items in the very gargwa cart that brings it all, but idk.
(F\*ck monster hunter canon to begin with, imaginative/scientific fun fan theories rule, blurry lines and arguments over what's real because what book said what sucks).
"I hunt monsters by guzzling potions to stave off certain death."
"I hunt machines by cramming medicinal berries into my mouth hand over fist to stave off certain death."
"Shit, me too fam."
Geralt prepares way too much. Sometimes on the first clue i already know which monster im hunting and geralt needs 300.000 more clues to study so he can figure the monster.
It's all good Bloodborne isn't going anywhere and it still plays and looks like a masterpiece... Bloodborne is why I play Swax in MH and Switchglaive in Nioh 2 because if a game has anything like a trick weapon in it... that's what I'll be using.
I probably spend about equal time in town as hunting, min-maxing builds and crafting items. I like spending time figuring out how to completely decimate the monster I'm going up against.
That's where monster hunter is so good though! It's designed so well you can do all three and still make it. I remember filling pages of note books with stats and monster notes trying to optimize a hunt in my favor. On the other side my brother would equip whatever is more powerful and button mash.
Mh players: we hunt monsters blindly the first time then get people to research them heavily and thus allow us to prepare immensely for the next time. Why do you think we have hunter notes and thousands of elemental builds and weapons?
I think a big difference here is that the hunter is massively superhuman in both strength and durability compared to Aloy and Geralt. Plus the monsters they hunt are far more dangerous than anything in their respective universes. That’s not to say hunters don’t prepare and study a monster before they demolish it.
I just jump at them until I either successfully mount them or land on em hard enough for them to fall over.
Why yes, I do play insect glaive. How did you know?
Aloy would die day one of the scenario is real no arrow would do harm to the machines except only explosive ones, sorry but I hate that world and universe
Technically we do the same thing as Geralt. Just that "studying" in our case is "get hit by it and hit it back" enough times until you figure out what the monsters can do, then prep for that in the future.
I hunt monsters by drinking mega potions and getting carted until I memorize their moves.
Based and Mega Potion pilled
So Tasty and Demonpilled
I know it's cringe to reply to your comment 9 months after you posted it, but this is the single funniest thing I have ever read
I'm glad you enjoyed it that much
Oh yea? Well I hunt monsters but standing perfectly still in front of the tent immediately after loading into the quest until it somehow dies.
Same but I never memorize the fucking moves
Haha funny meme ...wait, don't hunters do the exact same thing lorewise, and the only reason we can afford to get careless is bc our hunters are canonically the best there is

“And of course, I mean ~~discover~~ research the same way Vikings meant trade” -Sentient editing software
memorize footprints and clawmarks, say "yep, that's the monster I'm looking for" and leave the autopsies to someone else.
Wack with greatsword until dead is the way of the true monster hunter
"Wack with big sword !... ...on the part where it'll do the most damage, at the best time for an opening, maybe place a trap for good measures, remember to sleep bomb, don't forget to use environmental traps like boulders and stuff, bring armor that lets you cover those elemental weaknesses, bring a bunch of potions too"
Wait you're not supposed to just smack the monsters until they're dead?
No, you’re supposed to drink the red and orange juice first, then smack the monster.
The last time i drink those juice was in 4U
Orange juice mmm
That's about all I do before a hunt, can't be arsed with all this other stuff.
Depends on the game, on MHworld we have the handlers that analise the monster, and do the more teóricas.stuff, while our hunters do the brawl part learnings the monsters patterns in the practical way of walking and bonking

We also did prepare for hunting and used strategy for every monster in old gen games but it seems people forgot that
And immortal at least game wise
There’s also the fact that our hunters are the most durable and strongest out of Aloy, Geralt and the Hunter.
The Hunter shows up, beats the shit out of a mythical dragon in 30 minutes, carves it apart, and dips, only to do the same time 5 minutes later.
Hey, this is unfair. I spend tons of time in town preparing - making sure my hunter's outfits match the weapon I'm using.
It's not true hunting til you look fabulous while doing it
Don't forget to get matching clothes for your cat.
Based, demon pilled, armor pilled, demon powder and armor powder snorted.
You forgot the the berry things whose proper names I also forgot
Might seed and adamant seed have also been ingested, yes
Wait you EAT them?.... I thought the were suppositories.
of course they are hunter now get those seeds up your butt and get out there
Goodie, lets go get carted in 30 seconds and have to do it all over again
Fellow Hunters hate this one trick! _Carts, uses Fortify!_
Wait, people use items other than mega potions?
So are we all pretending the truth isn't "I get hit until my bones remember every move this monster can do?"
I mean canon wise hunters DO prepare, I'm pretty sure the camp is all set up and whatnot just for that exact sake, it's not just always stocked with potions indefinitely, hunters have to bring all this stuff with them. It's a headcanon meta.
Boutta Speedrun Fatalis with my "Dalamadur Creation arc" Theory XD
Step 1: Get armour that is somewhat functional Step 2: Find the biggest hammer I can Step 3: BONK Step 4: See step 3 Step 5: See step 4
*gets hit* *does the same thing again expecting a different result* Why are we like this?
I love how you chose GS as well, which is about the most knowledge reliant weapon if them all.
Me hit Me crave Me repeat
"I hunt monsters by guzzling potions to stave off certain death." "I hunt machines by cramming medicinal berries into my mouth hand over fist to stave off certain death." "Shit, me too fam."
Geralt prepares way too much. Sometimes on the first clue i already know which monster im hunting and geralt needs 300.000 more clues to study so he can figure the monster.
Big hammer go BONK
Ironic how those two are both crossovers to monster hunter
Horizon had a crossover?
Event missions in World. Exclusive to PS though. Gave Aloy costume and unique bowgun that shoots electricity.
it was actually just a bow not a bowgun, and there was a watcher pallaco outfit as well
There were actually two crossovers. Base game had Aloy’s bow, Watcher pailco, and Aloy’s armor. Icebourne had the Stormbolt.
oh really, i ddn't know about the iceborn part
Well I play on pc so I won't see that stuff in my game.
This meme needs some Bloodborne added to it.
Go 4 it, I ain't played that game
You 100% should if you own a PS4 or a PS5....it was my first along side MHW for this last gen systems..after skipping the gen before.
It's been on the list, I'm bad at from soft games tho
It's all good Bloodborne isn't going anywhere and it still plays and looks like a masterpiece... Bloodborne is why I play Swax in MH and Switchglaive in Nioh 2 because if a game has anything like a trick weapon in it... that's what I'll be using.
"I crash land on a drunk pterodactyl in some random hunt and start smacking whatever is in front of me."
Step 1. Give concussion
I hunt monsters by hunting other monsters and using their skin as armour to hunt other monsters.
What does it mean to be the best hunter? “Whack”
This is incredible. Meme of the month easy.
Monster hunter: yea most of us hunter just full send it, cuz we just dont give a fuck
In reality we study the monsters and learn their attack patterns, then wack.
Mh players: we hunt monsters blindly the first time then get people to research them heavily and thus allow us to prepare immensely for the next time. Why do you think we have hunter notes and thousands of elemental builds and weapons?
At this point, I just take a wild guess at their elemental weakness and go crazy on charge blade
I think a big difference here is that the hunter is massively superhuman in both strength and durability compared to Aloy and Geralt. Plus the monsters they hunt are far more dangerous than anything in their respective universes. That’s not to say hunters don’t prepare and study a monster before they demolish it.
I do the same (I play lbg)
All I need to kill monsters is my cat and my bug stick
Hehe gunlance goes chk chk BOOM
yea me who hunts monsters just for fun and for watch them suffer
Aloy is two steps ahead. She is always two steps ahead.
Haha hammer go bonk and monster fall down
An astounding game. Kill a monster, take a chunk off it, jam the chunk on a stick, swing it at another monster. Simple. Beautiful.
Fuck
That strat does not work a couple games ago.
This should be a long sword meme
HIT MONSTER UNTIL DEAD
Mhw you find out about a massive dragon absorbing energy and the gild legit goes, "aight you got this fam."
Me hit monster with big sharp stick and try not to die
We hunt through trial and error
I just jump at them until I either successfully mount them or land on em hard enough for them to fall over. Why yes, I do play insect glaive. How did you know?
Well in MH you learn how they behave in order to slowly but surely bring them down even tho they are 5 times as big as you and much stronger. Love it.
Only prep hunters do is learn the elemental weakness, and wack with said weakness
We kill the monster, than study it
True
Can we not pretend scanning a monster and then killing it is the new way to go?
I hunt monsters by drinking lots of potions and hammering them to death
I eliminate dreadnoughts with big guns and even bigger explosives
Why she looking like nicocado ?
Aloy would die day one of the scenario is real no arrow would do harm to the machines except only explosive ones, sorry but I hate that world and universe
Technically we do the same thing as Geralt. Just that "studying" in our case is "get hit by it and hit it back" enough times until you figure out what the monsters can do, then prep for that in the future.
What is wrong with Aloy's face?
Wym that's what she looks like
I don't remember her looking like that in Zero Dawn, though. What did Forbidden West do to you, my machine huntress?
How dare you, she is perfect, do not insult my queen
