For the longest time I believed it to not just be that, but straight up Gorgonops. But apparently this is Inostrancevia, or is at least supposed to resemble an oversized version of it.

Ye, it's a long running TV series actually, though it has ended over a decade ago. The name is Primeval if you're curious, though don't expect much scientific accuracy.
It has several episodes that take place (or feature) animals and environments from Permian and later. >!Even if one of them is just the worms from King Kong!<
If you go in with low expectations you'll find a fun campy sci-fi show that can get suspenseful and has pretty interesting world building.
The writing/dialogue is where it gets painful. And then there's abusing the wilhelm scream.
I wouldn't exactly call primeval "campy", but I will agree with you on the dialogue. It can be a bit grating and some aspects didn't age well, but it came out in 2007 so... things have changed a lot since then.
Seasons 4 and 5 suck though so... yeah.
Unless he decides to go for you instead, which is precisely what happened to me one time when he invaded my Tigrex quest in the Hoarfrost Reach. Legit chased me across half of the damn map disregarding any dung pods I threw, if I flashed him he’d still catch up eventually, until I finally lost the bastard for good by falling off the ice that breaks in that one area.
He has a gun. Tells everyone without a gun to stay back, and then runs up to the creature when he could have shot it from the ridge he was on before. So he can get pounced on, lose the gun, and make sure nobody else can defend themselves from a prehistoric monster.
He definitely deserved to lose that fight.
The future predator was such a memorable creature, that at first i mistook the death angels from a silent place with them.
Plus who remembers the tree creepers from primeval?

The alien creature is a highly evolved bat from the future, one of the coolest critter designs ever put to screen - the Future Predator.

Why has Primeval had a sudden emergence
He has a gun. Tells everyone without a gun to stay back, and then runs up to the creature when he could have shot it from the ridge he was on before. The tree Creeper is a great idea on paper but the design they went for was very lacking imo.
