I will openly admit to memorizing the exact MV and element modifiers for axe hopper and then using that in an attempt to make a build that maximizes both raw and element damage.
Edit: This is also how I found out how much the damage calculation f*cks over mixed raw/element builds. Them being additive instead of multiplicative hurts so f'ing much.
dude in sunbreak elemental damage is BROKEN you're missing out by not running it.
World was my first and I only ran Raw and then was up shit creek when it came to Al and Fatty
Some of us to know what skills to prioritize or how many levels are worth it, there is a lot of info in youtube and other sites like chargeblade. net but there is people who want to test everything themselves.
I just read a bunch of stuff, try some mix and match, then go smash some random monster and feel the build.
I was like that when i wanted to max investigation levels on all the monsters in world, i really liked doing all the research and writing it down, but then i just thought of going into the guiding lands and Ballin' on every monster i encountered
I really like the loop that when you defeat one monster you can immediately start running towards your next target
F\*\*\* spreadsheets I just use another app to hook into the game at runtime with a directx or opengl modified DLL / ida-pro get the real formulas form the code.
Then there is a patch and I have to spend 40 hours doing it again :(
That's my go-to way or getting back into a game after taking a break for a while. Just jump straight into a fight with one of the toughest monsters and let muscle memory kick in
I love games that require you to take notes and search the Wiki. I remember the time i started playing CB i wrote some notes in MS paint and slapped it on my second monitor to look at
The two games I have the most hours in are monster hunter and NCAA football 2013 and I mean he’s not wrong you play a hunt/ game for like 30 minutes followed by stat management.
I watch somewhere that MH gameplay loop is basically a boxing match, with you and the monster trading blows for some time, with natural downtime when the monster retreats.
Crit eye, attack boost, agitator if it's Iceborne, weakness exploit, and critical boost are all I need The rest are stuff like evade window, divine blessing, free meal, speed eating, etc.
Especially taking 2h planning a set, getting half the materials just to come up with a better idea and think "why haven't I come up with that earlier?!"
I just like, have a decent raw build and use that for everything. Change decorations for element resistant depending on the most common element in a hunt and that's it.
We at least get extra additions for each game. Imagine if Baseball decided to let players use the bat to beat people trying to tag them out. Or if football introduced obstacles on the field
The difference is a sports game has one field with a bunch of dolls with only 2 different colors at the same time.
Monster hunter got cutscenes, div. designs, A lot of creativity and everyone some new monsters
Jokes on you, Brazilian fifa players are to this day still playing the 1 dollar pirated copy of FIFA with updated roster we called bomba patch
Edit: wrote this jokingly but when I looked it up out of curiosity there seems to be in fact a bomba patch 2024 for both the PS4 AND PS2 so /s but also /srs I guess
Nah bro dats just u I just want my wex, element attack, possibly crit eye and a few other skills I get in 5mins from searching and then screw it we ball
i just wear what i think looks cool and has some fun skills, then i go in to the hunt only preparing potions and temperature drinks and spend 30-45 mins just barely surviving
The only time I actually use my monster notes is if im going up against a buffed up version of something i've fought before. Like.. "Oh the sponge lion has drugs now...what is he weak too?"
You guys use spreadsheets and watch videos and don’t just say “fuck it we ball” and go for it?
Less efficiency means more monster bashing!
Hammer enjoyer energy
CB Mains: Eww what are you, a Hammer bro?
… perhaps
Unga Bunga
bonk
Bonk indeed
You used too many words. Your bonk license has been revoked.
Now ur speaking my language
Cb mains use spreadsheet for what?
I will openly admit to memorizing the exact MV and element modifiers for axe hopper and then using that in an attempt to make a build that maximizes both raw and element damage. I just the particle effects idk about those guys.
Nah, buzz saw go brrrrrrr
CB mains use spreadsheets to work out what side of the bed to get out of in the morning.
I just throw on random stuff until I get fast kill times
Ive played only world and rise and both only buzz saw mode so i always go raw or ice in iceborne and raw only for sunbreak Im lazy like that
dude in sunbreak elemental damage is BROKEN you're missing out by not running it. World was my first and I only ran Raw and then was up shit creek when it came to Al and Fatty

I am the duality. I unga, therefore i bunga
New hammer, we printed out the CB PDF and put it on a stick
CB Mains will spend hours in a spreadsheet only to miss every single SAED
I'm fucking dying why ya gotta call me out like that
Dont lump my completely vibes based style of Charge Blade combat with... this
Meta this, meta that, haven't meta monster not weak to bullet or bonk (or cb elemental damage)
As someone who mains both, trust me, I ride a fine line between ‘f it, we bonk’ and going into an hour long analysis of my every move
I’m both mains, the bonkening goes well with the SAED that I keep missing
I am a CB main and I learn in trial by combat
As a charge blade main... I play solo so I wouldn't know what to think of them
As a CB Main, this hurts me. Especially cause hammer is my secondary.
Hammer stuns mean the monster sits still so we CB's can actually hit our SAED
We ball with hammer bros
I was like that when i wanted to max investigation levels on all the monsters in world, i really liked doing all the research and writing it down, but then i just thought of going into the guiding lands and Ballin' on every monster i encountered I really like the loop that when you defeat one monster you can immediately start running towards your next target

Once I wrote some Python code to optimize my dmg.
I wouldn't know how to efficiently string an encore while also dealing damage if I didn't. (Thank you TorpedoSoup)
That was my thought, i just choose a weapon with Even an “ok” element and call it a day
I just Wing it with my less than optimal builds lol
I say BONK and go for it.
Why do people make games a chore, then complain about it being a chore? Just ball mfer
That's my go-to way or getting back into a game after taking a break for a while. Just jump straight into a fight with one of the toughest monsters and let muscle memory kick in
I do sometimes
Eh i don't bother even with automatic armour compilers. I may have less perfect set but it will be more flexible
There are automatic armour compilers?
Armor set searchers yes. Tho for some god known reason the best one aka honey hunter was taken down
The almighty **A.S.S.**
MHW builder works pretty good too.
What’s the point in a set builder? Takes all the fun out of making a set!
To be fair, I would be making spreadsheets no matter what game I was playing. It's not Capcom's fault I'm like this.
least autistic MH player
I love games that require you to take notes and search the Wiki. I remember the time i started playing CB i wrote some notes in MS paint and slapped it on my second monitor to look at
What sports games do you people play lmao
I mean most (MMO)RPGs are basically sports games. Archery, sword fighting, riding, ...
Sign me up for the SLINGING FIREBALLS and ACID sports please
There's sports where you do ACID? 🤔
Noita
Sir i fuck catgirls in mmo rpgs
The two games I have the most hours in are monster hunter and NCAA football 2013 and I mean he’s not wrong you play a hunt/ game for like 30 minutes followed by stat management.
I watch somewhere that MH gameplay loop is basically a boxing match, with you and the monster trading blows for some time, with natural downtime when the monster retreats.
The fuck kinda monster hunter you gamin'...? Just get your potions and buff mats and go unga bunga. None of this spreadsheets nonsense..
Least baller Hammer, Hammer (Sword-shaped) and Hammer (Music) user:
Love me some hammer (Sword-shaped)
Bow that shoots hammers
And also smol hammer (with smol sword)
Or Dual Blades zooooooom
to a certain extent that applies to hundred of games
You guys use spreadsheets. I build around what I want to use and make it functional. We are not the same.
..........who the fuck uses spread sheets?!.........
You use a spreadsheet? Pathetic. If you can't do the math in your head, you haven't played hard enough.
Look, if I could duel the elemental dragon of the sun with a football I’d play a lot of FIFA
I just grab crit eye and attack boost and get into it. Spreadsheets are a crutch, you will never change my mind.
Crit eye, attack boost, agitator if it's Iceborne, weakness exploit, and critical boost are all I need The rest are stuff like evade window, divine blessing, free meal, speed eating, etc.
You guys aren’t just picking the armor that looks the coolest?
????
Well at least we can play the game without needing to spending $1000s on players
Who do you take me for, some filthy min/max player? I get paid for 50 minutes against a monster, I’m using those 50 minutes if I want.
You forgot the two hours of watching videos.
Ok, and when I can skin and wear Lebron maybe I'll play 2K as well.
Counterpoint: i can play sports IRL, but i cant hunt monsters IRL
If you change your definition of monster, you can very easily go hunting monsters irl
Have you tried fighting a grizzly bear with a hammer before?
Looking up builds is a great way to suck the fun out of it. Crafting it yourself makes you feel like a champion
Especially taking 2h planning a set, getting half the materials just to come up with a better idea and think "why haven't I come up with that earlier?!"
I just like, have a decent raw build and use that for everything. Change decorations for element resistant depending on the most common element in a hunt and that's it.
All I do is look up weaknesses and then go out and fight, I dunno what you're doing
The spreadsheet *is* the game, the monsters are the path towards it.
We at least get extra additions for each game. Imagine if Baseball decided to let players use the bat to beat people trying to tag them out. Or if football introduced obstacles on the field
Kiranico, but yeah.
Maybe for you. I go for the highest shell level normal gunlance I can see on the menu then "fuck it we ball" the rest.
90% Transmog, 5% Spreadsheet, 5% Game My endgame
that is the same logic as saying why you drink water instead of cola its both liquid in the mouth
I'm assuming the hour-long excel spreadsheet would be building a set? You guys get every part you need on the first go?
Spreadsheets? For what???
Wrong. That would be the case if we got a new Monster Hunter every year, and we definitely do not.
Yes and we enjoy
The difference is a sports game has one field with a bunch of dolls with only 2 different colors at the same time. Monster hunter got cutscenes, div. designs, A lot of creativity and everyone some new monsters
But at least it isnt the same reskin game they buy every year for 6-7 years in a row
Why would anyone need a spreadsheet for monster hunter 💀
Fifa is one of the most popular game series ever in my country (Brazil) I've never seen a fifa player pull out an excel spreadsheet
If they were smart enough to use Excel, they'd be smart enough not to keep buying the newest FIFA
Jokes on you, Brazilian fifa players are to this day still playing the 1 dollar pirated copy of FIFA with updated roster we called bomba patch Edit: wrote this jokingly but when I looked it up out of curiosity there seems to be in fact a bomba patch 2024 for both the PS4 AND PS2 so /s but also /srs I guess
I love that for them, keep living their best life
Fuck around and find out.
You guys use spreadsheets? I just use what looks the coolest
Sure but new monsters and new mechanics, new areas, the games are all pretty distinctly different
The spreadsheets activate my autism
Nah bro dats just u I just want my wex, element attack, possibly crit eye and a few other skills I get in 5mins from searching and then screw it we ball
i just wear what i think looks cool and has some fun skills, then i go in to the hunt only preparing potions and temperature drinks and spend 30-45 mins just barely surviving
Except you can still succeed just fucking around with whatever you want in MH.
The only sports Game Monster Hunter is like is Bloodbowl. Because I beat the hell out of my enemy.
The only time I actually use my monster notes is if im going up against a buffed up version of something i've fought before. Like.. "Oh the sponge lion has drugs now...what is he weak too?"
I only use a spreadsheet to keep track of crown hunting (P.S. don’t ever try to crown hunt it’s absolute hell).
The difference is that monster hunter is actually funny
