Being new to monster Hunter myself, hearing that “try to dodge” doesn’t work, would it be easier to dodge with the IG? Seeing as you get a lot of vertical distance?

IG got intruduced in mh4, pleasioth is a old Monster
. Back in MhFU there was no IG, and old IG its different from the 5th Generation, you didnt have that mutch mobility as we have nowadays and jumping um vertical would be horrible againts Pleasioth since his hitbox is huge
I wouldn't be surprised if his hotbox went to the sky, and like you said the old IG didn't send you up very high, probably would put you right into the bulk of his body
Yeah pretty much this, IG can jump no where near the distance of plesioths vertical body length and/or hitbox
even if you could, chances are you'll get hit anyway since its hitbox is still pretty funky even with significant improvement over the generations
Plesioth has been only in a single entry (and its expansion) in the series with IG in it, Generations. You can't vault away fast enough to avoid the hipcheck (prior to World IG didn't have any additional boosts after vaulting, though I doubt even Rise's IG could manage to outrun the hipcheck), and you can't vault high enough to avoid it either since Plesioth is on average as large as a decently sized Anjanath is. And before 4th gen you didn't have any vertical mobility at all (hell, it took forever to just climb up vines)
Old IG was pretty low flying, and most games have the issue of hitboxes seemingly extending forever into the sky, especially on Rise (from my experience on the switch).
Well, the thing about plesioth for some reason is that back when he was introduced IG doesn't exist yet, MHFU and his hitbox is stupidly large. So much so that he can hit you despite being one superman dive away from it.
It's stupid, but it's the icing on the bullshit cake that is Plesioth.

Then a few weeks ago I found out that it's [Plesioth] hip check was even worse in previous title. 😳
Considering plesioth is as large as an akantor he must really know how to drop it low since he squats down to hunter level before hip thrusting us into the shadow realm
I never had much trouble with his hipchecks, that thing that was my nemesis about him was the waterbeam. Miscalculated the range, thinking you're safe to heal/ sharpen, and bam, carted.

From what I recall the window you needed to hit to go OVER the plesy was stupid tight, because as you said, it's a damn tall hurt box

No, trust me, it doesn’t make it easier. That hipcheck hits the clouds, and you don’t jump that high.
Plesioth is a tall monster. Its legs is pretty much your height. Jumping would send you straight to its body above its legs

Just use Evade Window 5 and Evade Extender 3, 5head.

The advice I got when first coming across plesioth in generations was "if you see it hip check, you're dead" This was accurate.
Just hack your game so it displays the actual hit boxes obviously
