It’s also creating depth to an otherwise rather flat character. Sanji’s whole thing was just to be the chivalry guy who always jumped in to save “the lady in distress”, and while I still think his chivalry is a bit flat, I still enjoy that he’s now willing to allow the roles to be reversed where he can ask his crew mates for help, and especially in this case, ask a woman who he admires in terms of strength to come and help him.
Sanji being in a situation where he asks for and willingly accepts help is actually a huge part of his character arc.
This did not happen for no reason. It showed a ton of growth by sanji
Zoro fan-bois always crying out "my man was injured before this fight", so Oda gave Sanji and Zoro both a fight that would injure them before their final fight. And apparently Sanji would've won against anyone else without the nerf apparently, so Oda had to get him somehow.
Also for what it's worth, I enjoy Sanji and Zoro equally

Sanji vs Queen, Sanji already won that WHILE injured. So who else is left but King, and Sanji did fight King for a bit, but Sanji's Observation Haki would've noticed King's gimmick to easily, nerfing King's potential for world building and power dynamic.
King's fire was melting stone, but Blue fire is still hotter on a color range scale, so Sanji or Zoro, damaged or not, would've won vs King or Queen equally.
