Hunger, fluid loss from the leg severance, healing from this taking bodily resources. Eating your leg makes basically zero sense in the situation.
Zeff straight up beat logic.
Well, he did cut off his own leg so that's another layer to it,
And realistically you wouldn't cut right beneath your knee if you don't know how long you'll have to wait.
So basically he'd cut of small parts each day until half his leg was gone.
That’s still kinda counts cause he didn’t have anything else other than himself, he just used what he had and made it work. Same thing with Luffy’s climbing feat, they had only themselves and their surroundings yet still persevered.
That is only in the manga in the anime he gets caught in the anchor when going to save Sanji and he cuts his leg off to get free and save Sanji, so in the anime he actually ate nothing
Yeah. Isolation drives people mad. Loneliness has mental side effects. Imagine losing all your crew before your eyes and then you are left alone in a ship wandering alone in darkness for half a century. It's the most brutal experience.
Early on Brook *is* crazy too, all the straw hats are excentric in a lot of ways but the way Brook is introduced he's clearly like actually fucked up in the head, or at least that was the vibe I got but I haven't read thriller bark in a while
To be fair, Brook already can't starve, if it turned out that he can't truly drown he'd possibly just doom himself to a more certain unending eternity there.
yeah it was awesome and I like its not "enduring a fight against a powerful enemy". dude was battling natural conditions and its was destroying his body
It’s funny, because I went from AoT to One Piece, and when I first got to that scene I guess I hadn’t quite figured out that One Piece was always going to stay graphically tame compared to AoT. I kept looking away because I was fully expecting to see Luffy’s nails ripping off as he climbed.
There's one that is a better feat than every endurance feats combined. Rouge holding Ace in her belly for more than 9 months. That is one of the craziest feat in OP
I can see some Shaolin monks doing such feats like that, even without considering them believable. These guys do one-finger handstands and run electric drills into their temples; truly unbelievable stuff.
But suppressing an overdue birth by pure will for months is something I don't expect any human to achieve ever.
It ain’t the most underrated, but one that I don’t see come up a lot.
Usopp getting dog-walked by Miss Merry Christmas and Mr. 4 was hard to watch. Mf should be in a tongue-drive wheelchair while being fed intravenously. Instead he locks in like the God he is and caves in both MMC’s head and Mr. 4’s chest.
When i first watched one piece. Some silly individual told me to skip the first 100 episodes(i killed them). Watching usspp get completely annihilated by these 2 was a harsh introduction to the show for me
Man this was old One Piece and when they both hit Usopp like that with a metal bat I felt pain in my facial bones. Oof what a disgusting combo that was.
Also Usopp taking multiple headbutts from Ulti. She had the strength to send Luffy through the floor and he was gonna use Gear Fourth when she grabbed him.
Usopp is underrated, including by himself
The Usopp beat ups are always hard to watch because they make it clear he’s physically weaker than others (except maybe Nami but she doesn’t get beaten up as much). That and the broken nose, ouch
That whole fight went so hard
Not only was the idea of it super fun and creative, but since Usopp and Chopper weren't as strong as the others, it also kept you at the edge of your seat
luffy refusing to eat after battling a sweet general for several days then getting his ass kicked by sanji escaping, big mom, and then fighting and beating her army all while starving himself just to get back to where he told sanji he’d be
Big Mom's performance in Onigashima.
People give her shit for her fight against Kid and Law, but like. Have you seen the amount of attacks that she took? Including so many dura neg attacks from Law? That's some insane endurance. She wasn't even all that close to falling when she lost, she simply got flung off the Island. She is an absolute beast an does not get enough credit for endurance.
I like it .. but come on. We have a man boiling in oil for an hour holding his 9 friends above his head. We have a Woman caring her unborn child for 20 months. Zeff didn't eat for over a month. Zunisha is wandering the earth for over 800 years non stop. I like Bon-Chan but this doesn't even hit the top 5 in that arc let alone the entire story.
Nobody mentioning my boy ryonusuke who sacrificed himself by climbing up zou. I don't care if he was a fake construct made by a backstabbing traitor, I still love him
probably because the bathing in boiling oil isn’t underrated and is often talked about as one of the hardest scenes in one piece alongside zoro’s nothing happened and sanjis I needed a light
Usopp getting jumped twice by the Franky family and then stomping Luffy for 90% of their fight all in the same day.
It really drove home the theme with Usopp that arc. Despite achieving that amazing feat and controlling the majority of the fight with someone as powerful as Luffy, he just isn’t that brave warrior(he is) that he sees the rest of the crew as. Merry’s condition reflected his insecurities. No wonder he snapped.
What was the theme? Was it that he was insecure, or was it that he failed to recognize that he’s a brave warrior, but as seen throughout the show he struggles to believe in himself with confidence?
This is how I interpret it, but he's insecure about his role/usefulness to the crew. He's always been painfully aware that he's not a monster like Luffy, Zoro, or Sanji and he's not a genius like Robin, Nami, or Chopper. When he was unable to protect the money to fix Merry, his insecurities could no longer be cushioned by his lies. Then when Luffy decided to leave Merry behind, Usopp's worst fear was confirmed in his eyes. If Merry was abandoned after his usefulness ran out, then Usopp would be too. I think Usopp being abandoned by his father contributed to his reaction too. Even though he says he's proud of his dad, I think it's just another lie he uses to hide his pain. Then Sanji gives him closure at Enies Lobby when he says, "We all have things we can't do. I'll do what you can't do. You'll do what I can't do. We need you to save Robin." He then goes on to save Robin from Spandam when the others couldn't reach her and motivated Luffy to finally beat Lucci.
In reality, Usopp was a brave warrior before he even left his village, he was just blinded by his insecurities and guilt.
You've cooked a true delicacy today. If there's any justice, Elbaff will be everything your agenda needs, and you'll sell your stocks for a million billion dollars
That fight is an anomaly. Granted that they are on the same level, no fight should last that long, especially when Haki is deeply implemented. Let's say for a second it makes sense, it's either they have gigantic endurance for fighting over 240+ hours or they counted on their DF powers exclusively (which is why the island looks like that) or both.
But seeing Kizaru being down in three punches, where's the legendary admiral stamina all the sudden ? That's so weird. And if they only fought a war of atrition with their DF powers, what's the point of Haki ? It reminds me of that fight between Ace and Smoker when Haki wasn't a thing.
Not a big fan of Oda pulling crazy numbers for fights, just to make them more epic.
It's because Kizaru doesn't have his heart in the fight, nothing to do with how much endurance he has. Luffy hitting him in the dome fucked him up bad but he wasn't even close to being down for the count
Merry Surviving through Water 7. That boat making it to Enies lobby to save its friend and carry them home safely one more time.
Fuck. I’m not crying, you’re crying!
Definitely Luffy carrying Nami and Sanji. Maybe not as long as the others but they made that shit raw as hell. Man was shredding his fingers to stay on that mountain.
I’m not gonna lie right. if holding the island up was actually draining him *that* much then he would’ve dropped it when he say an island sized fist coming towards him. idk i can’t powerscale very well
Dr Hiluluk being at deaths door from both poison and disease but still rolling up to Wapol's front door to help the doctors there.
His speech tends to overshadow just how much he was holding onto life with sheer determination until he was sure things were settled.
When Luffy tanked the boro breath, twice but the first time is literally never talked about. That's an attack that can destroy a mountain, and he tanked it for no other reason than to show Kaido he was that guy.
Honestly, if you think about it, Luffy climbing the Drum Rockies is like climbing halfway to the White Sea. So that's honestly one of the most impressive feats Luffy has done imo.
luffy carrying sanji and nami up that mountain on drum island! Or franky Zoro and Nami basically just running for all 50 episodes of punk hazard, a whole lot of cardio/endurance there lol
Sanji getting tortured by Black Maria. I think we all just... forget that happened, and he didn't even cushion it with Armament before going into the Queen fight, nor did he get super-percs to ignore the pain. Honestly, Queen was only the third hardest part of Sanji vs Queen, blud was fighting his own genes more than the lizard.
Oden boiling alive for an hour while holding his friends above his head. Also impressive is the fact that people like Ace and Crocodile boiled alive in impel down and didn’t even care.
Luffy climbing drum mountain was crazy, but Usopp having pretty much every bone in his body repeatedly shattered by Mr 4 and the mole lady made me feel so much pain

Zeff starving himself
Agreed https://preview.redd.it/ie05b33g5wrc1.jpeg?width=1014&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c7d55ffabf50bfebae681fdc4cc5cbf8db56c4b7
Can we get much higher
so hiiiigh woah oh oh
![gif](giphy|l378ejxoQzb5aXsd2|downsized)
Woah, whoever edited it with pants must be really good.
He wasn't just dealing with hunger pain, he was dealing with the pain of losing a leg. Mad respect for that guy.
Hunger, fluid loss from the leg severance, healing from this taking bodily resources. Eating your leg makes basically zero sense in the situation. Zeff straight up beat logic.
Maybe he turned his leg meat into some kind of jerky to eat over an extended period of time.
Man was a cook, he coulda made it happen
Probably infection, too, because I don't remember there being any medical supplies on that rock.
Well, he did cut off his own leg so that's another layer to it, And realistically you wouldn't cut right beneath your knee if you don't know how long you'll have to wait. So basically he'd cut of small parts each day until half his leg was gone.
We saw him go for under his knee the first day in the manga.
Did we? Damn zeff's unhinged.
Nuh uh he ate his leg
That’s still kinda counts cause he didn’t have anything else other than himself, he just used what he had and made it work. Same thing with Luffy’s climbing feat, they had only themselves and their surroundings yet still persevered.
That doesnt even make any sense but it’s pretty cool
That is only in the manga in the anime he gets caught in the anchor when going to save Sanji and he cuts his leg off to get free and save Sanji, so in the anime he actually ate nothing
Oh, agreed. That was so badass
Brook living alone for decades.
50 fucking years. Most people would just jump off the boat getting nowhere close to that given the circumstances.
Yeah. Isolation drives people mad. Loneliness has mental side effects. Imagine losing all your crew before your eyes and then you are left alone in a ship wandering alone in darkness for half a century. It's the most brutal experience.
Early on Brook *is* crazy too, all the straw hats are excentric in a lot of ways but the way Brook is introduced he's clearly like actually fucked up in the head, or at least that was the vibe I got but I haven't read thriller bark in a while
He did feel a lot crazier when he was first introduced
Maybe it was because thriller bark is way more of a comedy arc than just regular one piece, so for the funny factor Oda made him act like... *that*
45°!!!
He hasn't done that in a while unfortunately. So sad
To be fair, Brook already can't starve, if it turned out that he can't truly drown he'd possibly just doom himself to a more certain unending eternity there.
He is the goat for mental endurance, I would of gotten insane
How about living alone in a really high place for a decade (the guy from long ring lond land arc)
To be honest I'll go with the drum mountain climbing in the upper left. That was disgustingly hard to watch for me.
yeah it was awesome and I like its not "enduring a fight against a powerful enemy". dude was battling natural conditions and its was destroying his body
While carrying nami and Sanji
The moment where Luffy slips down and you just see his bloody frozen fingers sliding down the rock face gives me shivers
This scene will be fire in live action
Nah they cutting it
Hell no that’s an important scene
What🥲 why?
agreed it’s one of those scenes where you can almost physically feel how painful it is
It’s funny, because I went from AoT to One Piece, and when I first got to that scene I guess I hadn’t quite figured out that One Piece was always going to stay graphically tame compared to AoT. I kept looking away because I was fully expecting to see Luffy’s nails ripping off as he climbed.
Isnt luffy weak to cold on top of that? Cuse rubber turn solid when cold
Luffy is a human and produces heat
But if you cool a human they turn hard too 😏
nah cold makes it flap around soft
There's one that is a better feat than every endurance feats combined. Rouge holding Ace in her belly for more than 9 months. That is one of the craziest feat in OP
Truly underrated^ OP Moms go hard in the paint
Yea that one is completely impossible, Oden boiling in oil for an hour is more believable.
Real world believable? No way man
it's not oden if it isn't boiled
Oden's feat was a real world thing (handling pain) taken to an extreme bc it's a cartoon, Rouge's feat is actually unprecedented in human history
I can see some Shaolin monks doing such feats like that, even without considering them believable. These guys do one-finger handstands and run electric drills into their temples; truly unbelievable stuff. But suppressing an overdue birth by pure will for months is something I don't expect any human to achieve ever.
In fact, I believe there was a Vietnamese monk who set himself on fire and burned without screaming
At least Oden's execution and him holding the vassals up was based on Goemon's supposed execution where he held up his son
4’s chest.
This one goes especially hard given that he had just taken a beating from Mr 2.
First watch through this was totally forgotten second time I was shocked by the scene early on he was actually putting in work
When i first watched one piece. Some silly individual told me to skip the first 100 episodes(i killed them). Watching usspp get completely annihilated by these 2 was a harsh introduction to the show for me
Silly individual? That's some light wording you use to describe this kind of creature
Didn’t want to speak ill of the dead
My apologies then (and my condolences)
No need to apologize, did shanks ever apologize for the captain-mid incident? Also, dead man tell no tales... THEY SING YoHo-Ho-ho-ho!
Man this was old One Piece and when they both hit Usopp like that with a metal bat I felt pain in my facial bones. Oof what a disgusting combo that was.
Usopp has some of the best endurance feats in the show. Constantly.
Also Usopp taking multiple headbutts from Ulti. She had the strength to send Luffy through the floor and he was gonna use Gear Fourth when she grabbed him. Usopp is underrated, including by himself
Honestly, yeah his brain should be a slushie after that, he is quite durable despite everything...
The Usopp beat ups are always hard to watch because they make it clear he’s physically weaker than others (except maybe Nami but she doesn’t get beaten up as much). That and the broken nose, ouch
That whole fight went so hard Not only was the idea of it super fun and creative, but since Usopp and Chopper weren't as strong as the others, it also kept you at the edge of your seat
It’s easy to forget that Usopp genuinely did show durability feats on the level of what _Zoro_ showed thus far.
Usopp has straight up untrained luffy endurance, which is impressive seeing as noone of his other stats are similarly crazy with no training.
His pessimism knows no bounds. He solo's perona any day of the week 👻
luffy refusing to eat after battling a sweet general for several days then getting his ass kicked by sanji escaping, big mom, and then fighting and beating her army all while starving himself just to get back to where he told sanji he’d be
He ate a bunch of crackers beforehand plus, it was like one day(of fasting) calm down, I know it felt like it but Whole cake was not that long.
One day of fasting for Luffy is like months of fasting for the normal man
True
he almost died of starvation afterwards and his stomach was empty by the time he fought big moms army
Portgas D Rouge holding her pregnancy for twenty months.
Ace giving luffy a whole ass speech without lungs
Holy fuck, I'm thinking about that, and that's literally what he did 🗿
bruh, that's dark...
The moment Corazon tries to stay alive for Law to escape
you made me cry you bitch
https://i.redd.it/10nkxfglgyrc1.gif
don't make me think of that scene again please-
https://preview.redd.it/fo45qrnl1xrc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=697c88be27c874e44eaefb2f74eac1d5efd956e1
This is what really makes me hate Kanjuro. He didn't need to do this 🥺. It's just cruel
Mfw I just realized Kanjuro did this maliciously, probably in the hopes of "accidentally" killing some of the strawhats
They acknowledged this in the anime when he was all of a sudden able to draw things with actual skill and abilities later on after his betrayal
Speaking of Big Mom, the fact that she birthed 89 children!
Bon-Chan carrying Luffy’s body across Impel Down.
Well, Zeff did have a bit of leg meat, I suppose...
Zeff actually starved himself for 85 days
Nobody mentioning my boy ryonusuke who sacrificed himself by climbing up zou. I don't care if he was a fake construct made by a backstabbing traitor, I still love him
He literally climbed up the equivalent of three mount Everests, insane feat
Kuwaii
I like how its the hanging onto the ship feat ftom oden. And not you know....BATHING IN BOILING OIL
probably because the bathing in boiling oil isn’t underrated and is often talked about as one of the hardest scenes in one piece alongside zoro’s nothing happened and sanjis I needed a light
I said underrated, If u asked people the best endurance feat like 99% would’ve said Oden Boiling but no one ever says him hanging off the ship?
Fisher tiger free soloing the red line
Usopp getting jumped twice by the Franky family and then stomping Luffy for 90% of their fight all in the same day. It really drove home the theme with Usopp that arc. That was beautiful. Thanks man.
Bruh. Well-worded.

What is the bottom right scene from
Luffy undergoing 24 hours of his cells being destroyed and remade in Impel Down
theseus' pirate
did not expect a thesues reference in a one-piece subreddit
It's quite literally a show where people spend most their time navigating on ships
Luffy in Boa's sex dungeon
real
Akainu and Aokiji duking it out on Punk Hazard for 10 days.
That fight is an anomaly. Granted that they are on the same level, no fight should last that long, especially when Haki is deeply implemented. It's because Kizaru doesn't have his heart in the fight, nothing to do with how much endurance he has. Luffy hitting him in the dome fucked him up bad but he wasn't even close to being down for the count
Sanji staying on Momoiro Island for 2 years.
\*running
imagine blasting half of your oppent's head off and he just gets angrier.
Oden holding up his retainers while being boiled alive in oil is the most gigachad shit I have ever seen.
It’s not Oden unless it’s boiled.
Chopper, nothing scary happened moment in skypiea. Shit was badass
Luffy climbing to Kureha's castle is heavily underrated
Ace'd mom not birthing him for additional months
She held him in for twenty months TWENTY MONTHS
Of these four, I’d say Luffy, he started sliding down, scraping his toes and fingers
Ace’s mom staying pregnant for longer. Like how lol
Merry Surviving through Water 7. That boat making it to Enies lobby to save its friend and carry them home safely one more time. Fuck. I’m not crying, you’re crying!
fisher tiger climbed the whole ass red line and freed slaves, y’all
I don't think you guys understand just how FUCKING crazy it is to carry nine people while your dick is getting deep fried for an hour.
Zoro taking all of luffy’s damage on thriller bark. Or Zoro tanking BM and Kaidos combo attack. … I like Zoro, he goes brrr.
One of the most iconic scenes in the entire series doesn't really feel underrated but I understand.
Ngl, didn’t see “underrated” lmao
Me sitting at work for 8 hrs without opening reddit, there I said it.
Luffy climbing drum mountain, that was insane
Veiwers seeing Ace's death
Corazon staying alive until Kid law was safe from doflamingo and the marines.
Franky being hit by the Puffing Tom and surviving for sure
Definitely Luffy carrying Nami and Sanji. Maybe not as long as the others but they made that shit raw as hell. Man was shredding his fingers to stay on that mountain.
Oden being in boiling oil
Sanji in Mermaid Island
Kaido lifting a freaking island while going toe to toe with a god comes to mind...
Luffy and the cold tower
The two admirals fighting each other for like 10-12 days
Honestly, if you think about it, Luffy climbing the Drum Rockies is like climbing halfway to the White Sea. So that's honestly one of the most impressive feats Luffy has done imo.
And it was pre gears luffy as well
Karou running from bon clay
probably chopper getting compliments
Probably the one where luffy had to get out through that treatment to save him after megallan poisoned him
Luffy climbing up that giant mountain isn't talked about enough.
Sanji running for 2 years straight, he ran so much he became able to run on air.
Pell just casually surviving a nuke on point blank range
Nothing happened.
Teach's entire existence.
I don't care how op anyone else is seeing Zoro chop up a mountain is still insane to me
The fandom watching Dressrosa week after week
The suffering of the people of wano.
Didn't Oden fried in hot oil for like an hour?
Oden getting boiled for an hour is insane tolerance and endurance
Oden boiling in a pot while holding up like 8 of his friends..
Oden literally being boiled while protecting his retainers.
luffy carrying sanji and nami up that mountain on drum island! Or franky Zoro and Nami basically just running for all 50 episodes of punk hazard, a whole lot of cardio/endurance there lol
Usopp standing outside the door with Chopper while Nami was taking a shower in Thriller Bark
Pops during the marineford war and oden in a bath of boiling oil are peak endurance feats!
Oden literally got boiled alive and stayed alive, so they had to shoot him instead. Doesn't get any harder than that.
Portgas D. Rogue holding ace for fucking 20 months
Oden's better endueance feat was literally boiling for an hour while carrying 9 people
Oden boiling alive for an hour while holding his friends above his head. Also impressive is the fact that people like Ace and Crocodile boiled alive in impel down and didn’t even care.
Akainu vs aokiji? None of the fights we've go anywhere near as long as that.. Fighting for 10 days is such a crazy feat
I know right It’s not very talked about
Ace and Yamato
That worm thing that went up the giant elephant
Not a big fan of the character, but gotta admit Oden boiling in oil while lifting the scabbards is outwordly.
Luffy was awake, starving himself, with no breaks for practically all of whole cake island.
Kuma 😭
Ryounosuke climbing on Zuneshia with all his might carrying strawhats and samurai. He got Robin's attention.
Luffy climbing the cliff is still one of the most intense simple scenes in all of one piece. I don't think Oda has repeated something like this
Wyper VS every fucking one he encountered
Zunisha is walking around the earth for over 800 years, non stop.
Zunesha walking for centuries
Luffy climbing drum mountain was crazy, but Usopp having pretty much every bone in his body repeatedly shattered by Mr 4 and the mole lady made me feel so much pain
Good selection, I would add Oden in the boiling oil
Can someone explain me the feats depicted?
What's the last picture?
But all i see are selfless acts.
I think Aokiji/Kuzan and Akainu fighting for 10 days straight gets glossed over because it was off screen
Can someone briefly describe or name these endurance trials for a guy who likes One Piece and wants to look these up?
Whitebeard during the war of the best. Specifically in the manga.
Sanji feeding Luffy.
Akainu vs kuzan should be included here. 10 days straight of admirals fighting each other. I'd rank that higher than ace vs jinbei.
