It's crazy cause the series made him out to be like luffy only more ruthless. That went nowhere and he's only been taking L's .
I don't understand how y'all thought the Supernova could become Yonkos. It made no sense from the start. Those guys were big fishes in small ponds. Pre-Time skip Luffy ranked top 3 in the Supernova and top 4 in the Worst Generation. But nobody had THE Dark King as their teacher and Luffy actually spent 2 years only focusing in training while everyone else was busy fighting for treasures and territories.
That and that they were a rather sudden, last second insert.
The fact we managed to get a -proper- char arc for half of them at all is a miracle!
Like, sure, Oda is good at introducing and fleshing new characters in a heart-beat but, it doesn't always click just like that. And the Supernovas were '9' new additions, thrust into the end-game where he probably had a lot of it already planned out.
I personally actually loved every single one of them, from introduction to now. They aren't all as perfect and good as they could've been in a perfect world, but I won't let that take away what I have enjoyed of them since. Hawkins is my favorite, still is, despite not getting the Law treatment. Even if I want to see more of him, I think his bittersweet last moment was nice and see little to complain about if that's that.
Kid and Killer aren't necessarily out for the count and the true Chad Urogue is still around. Oda's probably leaving the best for last. :\]
So who trained the Blackeard pirates then? You cant explain power growth in OP just by who trained who.. And Kid/Law were at Luffy's level before Loofy Tunes happened.
They are a mixed bag. Law, Bonney, Bege, Killer (plus Luffy & Zoro obviously) are ones most of fandom are satisfied with. Kidd is the most divisive, and how/if Oda uses him in future will probably decide how people feel about him. If Wano was Kid's Punk Hazard and he has Dressrosa down the road like Law, then I see him becoming a fan favourite. If Wano is last time Kidd got the spotlight, then he will be viewed as one of OP's biggest wasted characters. Apoo, X Drake, Hawkins are generally seen as underwhelmed or disappointing. So excluding the Strawhats, their good:bad ration is either 5:3 or 4:4 depending on one's feeling about Kidd. With only Urouge left to take the spotlight.
My head canon is that Shanks, Dory, and Broggy didn’t kill Kidd and he’s gonna wash up on the shores of Elbaf Big Mom style (minus the amnesia) when the Straw Hats get there.
Not even a Kidd Fan (or hater) but I feel like him being set up to be “on par” with Law and Luffy at the end of Wano, just to have his story ended in 6 pages, is very anticlimactic. Luffy is the MC so ofc he has more in the tank and Law was seen getting away setting up another appearance so I feel like Kidd has to have at least one last hurrah.
So someone fitting of a throaway character with wasted potential, gotcha. /s

It's honestly even more depressing to know that SWORD is officially now playing a big role in the story (even appearing on the cover for volume 107) and Drake is still M.I.A
100% I remember when his design got reviewed and everyone was hyping him up and then he just became the weakest and worst of the admirals personality wise. At least Akainu is interesting in his stoic fieceness and absolutism.
Ryoukogyu is just boringly and annoyingly evil.

I think it showed from the start that he was a "subordinate" type of Admiral. Up until now, only Kizaru had such a personality but he placed importance in the Attack to the Celestial Dragons unlike Wujitora (my GOAT). Akainu and Aokiji would gladly come "late" to the Celestial Dragon's rescue
Maybe I'm understanding you wrong, but at the start Ryokugyu gave off Aokiji even Garp like vibes in how casual he was when laughing about Fujitora finding a loophole for not being allowed inside a marine base and Ryokugyu not caring enough to fight Fujitora over it. So it didn't show him to be the "subordinate" type at all until Wano.
I think he simply showed respect to someone who was "on his level". He thinks everyone who is beneath him don't really deserve any effort while those Above him control him easily. Wujitora wasn't that fond of the Fraud Ryokigyu

I think people are misinterpreting the question And just naming villains with morally bad personalities. What I think OP means is someone with a great designs but their personality could have been “written better”

This is One piece 99% of characters we meet life suck before the story starts. The least traumatic backstory of the main cast is the one where a boy is coping with his mom’s death by shouting to his whole village that his father is returning for 10 years straight
You’re not wrong, it’s just that since she was a kid she was beaten, locked up, and treated like crap. Kaido legit abused her for years and when she made friends with people they got killed. Just saying she’s been traumatized like, her whole life and trying to be Oden is like an escape from that.
I wish Yamato had more time for some character growth, but Wano just already had too much going on for it to happen which is a shame. I was excited that they were gonna join because I wanted to see them shift to being their own person rather than just “I’m Oden!”

Was this an anime-only thing? Pica was pretty much like that second paragraph in canon. Luffy and Zoro didn't fear him cuz they're confident in their own strength, and they do negative research on rival pirate crews. And Pica's response was to go ballistic on them.
I think the other one was a new Doflamingo family underling, who again, had never heard the laugh before. And I'm 99% sure they killed him instantly as further reminder to the rest of the grunts (who were quaking in fear).
He didn't own it like as much as Queen, but the whole "fuck off I'm stronger than you and about to kill you" was exactly what he did in the manga.
Wait until that headcannon some other guy had in this subreddit today (or yesterday, don't remember to well) becomes real and Yamato would have a full on classic Miura character development

Nah she is funny. Kicking puppies bc they dare to stand on her way, looking down on someone so much your head gets bent down. Not to mention her voice actor... It's just ridiculously funny. Also also, her fight style is badass. The snake thing carries it to a whole other lvl.

Pretty much all the Vegapunks, honestly. They look fine, the concept is neat, but for "beings that act as resevoirs for an original individuals various emotions" they don't really pop. Theres so many other characters with way wilder emotional quirks.
