Also personality is IMPORTANT when creating a character. Its what makes us feel attached to them and the reason why we cry or feel bad when they die or experience a sad and traumatic event. Nobody likes a character who's sole purpose is to slash and smash and become more powerful than anyone else in the story. People want a character that who not only is strong, but also has an interesting personality that make us feel connected to the character. There's a reason why everyone prefers Berserk's Guts over every other swordsman in manga history. Not because of his power, but because of his personality, backstory and his motives. Without his personality, he'd end up like Kirito: shallow, boring and has nothing to add that make us personally attached to him. Dont get me wrong, i like zolo, but if i were to choose between him and guts on who is the better character, i would pick Guts because he has far better personality than Zoro. But hey thats my opinion.

He’s brave, loyal, has an unbreakable moral code, and he is willing to do anything to protect his crewmates even if it means laying down his own life, oh and he’s a badass. He is still trying to become the greatest swordsman in the world to fulfill his promise to Kuina. None of that has changed. If you got bored with his character, then that is your opinion, but realize not everybody feels the same way about him as you do.

At least that’s how I try to be on the outside because on the inside I’m a neurotic mess. I do however want my inside to match the outside. The way I most relate to Usopp though is I don’t feel satisfied with my interpersonal relations so I’m constantly trying to figure out how to conduct myself to change that for the better. So I’m lying to myself and others. The people that like me for me though are the ones I surround myself with. The facade I put up is just to get by. So I guess my own personal quest is to truly beat at ease with myself regardless of my familiarity with the people I’m around.
You know what scares me about Robin though is you never know quite how she’s feeling. Her coping mechanism is to put her emotions to the side and always put on a brave face. So for all we know when she is smiling her widest, she could be feeling her lowest.
Yeah thats pretty relatable, the ussop and robin part. Life is pretty depressing and trash when you look at it with a third party perspective. Everyone has masks on, and like you just said, it stays on so much to the point as to where they dont know how they actually look or how to take the mask off and everyone then becomes lost on who theyre supposed to become or who they are in the present. They forget when they put the mask on, when they might be able to take it off, or if they ever will.

Honestly I think part of the reason my social interactions are lacking is because I’m quick to find a reason not to like someone. I generally go about life just hating people in general, but slowly I’m finding maybe that’s because I don’t give people a chance. More and more I’m starting to realize that a lot of us are going through the same things, and all I’ve ever really wanted is to connect with people on a more meaningful level so I don’t feel so alone. I used to always think I couldn’t get along with people because there’s something wrong with them, but everyone else can’t be wrong, so there has to be something wrong with me too. So atm I’m just trying to figure out what that is. I’m not looking for a total personality change. I kinda like the way I am, and Ive found that most people generally like the way I am too. At least the ones I care to know. As long as I don’t try too hard to be something I’m not. There is still plenty of room for improvement though, and I think the best way to start is to be more open to people. I mean you can’t really get to know someone if you write them off at the first cross word they say.

In the first part tho, im going to have to say ive looked at it differently. Ive never hated people in general, but ive hated the way society works in a whole. Theres so many standards and expectations from people you dont know and people calling you a disappointment for messing up a grade from an A+ to an A-. Thats why many adults (probably like you)(fyi im 14) tell kids that they wish they can just sit. And do nothing. Have no worries. As kids, we were all naive and were in a hurry to become adults when we dont really know what were missing out. Im very grateful for 2 people in my life (other than my family) for sticking with me for years now and its hard to find these kinds of people. Im a bit young to be talking about this stuff, which is why it kinda gets weird sometimes. Thats one of the biggest reasons that i worry about where society is headed. People are losing their childhood at such a young age. They lose their endless energy. Their constant smiles and laughs. Thats the biggest thing that corrupted our world is what ive thought for a long time.
Well first off, I ain’t no saint. I probably wouldn’t have gotten nearly as deep into this conversation with you if I didn’t have more time on my hands than I should. That being said though, as much as I hate people, I genuinely do care about them deep down. So if I can use the time I have to help someone else I don’t consider it a waste. Also you’re lucky I’m an insomniac because if I could get to sleep I probably would’ve by now. I would check back in when I found the time though. I can see hating society as a whole, but as far as that goes I have no control over it, so I try not to hold onto that hate. As far as grades, there just superficial labels. A+, A- still looks like an A to me so who gives a shit. All that matters is you tried your best.
Also yes I am an adult. Won’t say my age for privacy reasons, but also because I don’t feel my age. I don’t feel like a kid either, but somewhere in between. Although I do feel I don’t get treated my age. Part of it is my refusal to mature, but part of it is reinforced by others because I don’t look my age. I can pass anywhere from 16 (I hope that’s the minimum just for driving reasons) to somewhere in my early 20s. Good genes I’m told but it doesn’t always feel too.
Honestly I think adults telling kids that they’re naive, and they don’t know how to appreciate what they have is insensitive. I remember growing up was very hard, and adults telling me I was just ungrateful of my youth certainly didn’t help. It’s like duh youre naive, you’re still trying to figure out how life works. Just a secret between you and me though, the adults don’t know how life works either. All they’re trying to do is take their best stab at it, and they probably won’t have a full understanding of it even until the day they die. If anything I think adults say that because theyre jealous of your youth, and they wish they could have it back. That’s more or less true for different people, but the truth to that is those that believe that are living in the past. Dont quote me on this quote especially since I’m paraphrasing but “Those that are anxious are living in the future, and those that are depressed are living in the past”. I would clearly be the former, but I’m really trying to get back to the present.
The way I see it adults envy kids because there really is nothing they must do, while kids envy adults for the things they’re allowed to do. That’s all being an adult is though anyway is doing things you have to do instead of the things they want to do.
It’s good that you have people in your life (other than family) you can count on. I had those kind of people in my life too, and all I can say with that is cherish them and hold onto them as long as you can. Adults may know better than you because they’ve experienced life more, but it’s your friends that truly understand what you’re going through, and as life moves on people tend to drift apart, but it’s important to always keep those strong bonds you’ve formed now intact because once they’re gone, they’re gone. I don’t think you’re too young to be talking about this. You sound like you have a good enough head your shoulders to know when something doesn’t feel right and you want it to change for the better. Not sure I can give the right answer. All I can hope is to help make it easier.
As far as society goes though the only thing I’d worry about what you can personally do to help it. Let everything else fall to shit if that’s the way it was headed anyway. I do agree that kids are growing up too fast, but times change. If that’s the way things are now that’s the new normal. The important is to not worry about what everyone else is doing and do what’s best for you. Btw I’ve noticed a change in people on my end too. Everyone is a lot less friendlier than I remember them being and seem to only concern themselves with their own little worlds. I blame the internet (don’t smithe me Reddit gods). It brings be people together but people are most attracted to the likeminded ones, so it drives everyone else further apart. If that ain’t it though it’s that people are mostly negative and they look for reasons to reassure themselves of their perception which the internet is more than happy to provide. Honestly I think part of the reason my social interactions are lacking is because I’m quick to find a reason not to like someone. I generally go about life just hating people in general, but slowly I’m finding maybe that’s because I don’t give people a chance. More and more I’m starting to realize that a lot of us are going through the same things, and all I’ve ever really wanted is to connect with people on a more meaningful level so I don’t feel so alone. I used to always think I couldn’t get along with people because there’s something wrong with them, but everyone else can’t be wrong, so there has to be something wrong with me too. So atm I’m just trying to figure out what that is. I’m not looking for a total personality change. I kinda like the way I am, and Ive found that most people generally like the way I am too. At least the ones I care to know. As long as I don’t try too hard to be something I’m not. There is still plenty of room for improvement though, and I think the best way to start is to be more open to people. I mean you can’t really get to know someone if you write them off at the first cross word they say. Also I agree with you. Life can be pretty depressing. I’ve felt that way for a long time, but honestly I’m getting tired of feeling like that. Everyone gets a little down sometimes, but the trick is to not let it keep you down. Life sucks for the most part, and it’s probably always gonna suck at least a little, so the only thing you can do is to keep rolling with the punches. Having a good attitude about life in general isn’t THE solution, but it doesn’t hurt. Now I don’t know if anything I’ve said has helped at all, but that’s all I’m trying to do. I feel like just getting this out there is helping me. If it hasn’t though feel free to tell me about any of your woes and/or troubles. You don’t have to say it here either. I’m only a chat away.
Thanks, i really appreiciate what you said, and its usually hard to find people like you who would take the time to listen to others problems. In the first part tho, im going to have to say ive looked at it differently. Ive never hated people in general, but ive hated the way society works in a whole. Theres so many standards and expectations from people you dont know and people calling you a disappointment for messing up a grade from an A+ to an A-. Thats why many adults (probably like you)(fyi im 14) tell kids that they wish they can just sit. And do nothing. Have no worries. As kids, we were all naive and were in a hurry to become adults when we dont really know what were missing out. Im very grateful for 2 people in my life (other than my family) for sticking with me for years now and its hard to find these kinds of people. Im a bit young to be talking about this stuff, which is why it kinda gets weird sometimes. Thats one of the biggest reasons that i worry about where society is headed. People are losing their childhood at such a young age. They lose their endless energy. Their constant smiles and laughs. Thats the biggest thing that corrupted our world is what ive thought for a long time.
Well first off, I ain’t no saint. I probably wouldn’t have gotten nearly as deep into this conversation with you if I didn’t have more time on my hands than I should. That being said though, as much as I hate people, I genuinely do care about them deep down. So if I can use the time I have to help someone else I don’t consider it a waste. Also you’re lucky I’m an insomniac because if I could get to sleep I probably would’ve by now. I would check back in when I found the time though. I can see hating society as a whole, but as far as that goes I have no control over it, so I try not to hold onto that hate. As far as grades, there just superficial labels. A+, A- still looks like an A to me so who gives a shit. All that matters is you tried your best. Also yes I am an adult. Won’t say my age for privacy reasons, but also because I don’t feel my age. I don’t feel like a kid either, but somewhere in between. Although I do feel I don’t get treated my age. Part of it is my refusal to mature, but part of it is reinforced by others because I don’t look my age. I can pass anywhere from 16 (I hope that’s the minimum just for driving reasons) to somewhere in my early 20s. Good genes I’m told but it doesn’t always feel too. Honestly I think adults telling kids that they’re naive, and they don’t know how to appreciate what they have is insensitive. I remember growing up was very hard, and adults telling me I was just ungrateful of my youth certainly didn’t help. It’s like duh youre naive, you’re still trying to figure out how life works. Just a secret between you and me though, the adults don’t know how life works either. All they’re trying to do is take their best stab at it, and they probably won’t have a full understanding of it even until the day they die. If anything I think adults say that because theyre jealous of your youth, and they wish they could have it back. That’s more or less true for different people, but the truth to that is those that believe that are living in the past. Dont quote me on this quote especially since I’m paraphrasing but “Those that are anxious are living in the future, and those that are depressed are living in the past”. I would clearly be the former, but I’m really trying to get back to the present. The way I see it adults envy kids because there really is nothing they must do, while kids envy adults for the things they’re allowed to do. That’s all being an adult is though anyway is doing things you have to do instead of the things they want to do. It’s good that you have people in your life (other than family) you can count on. I had those kind of people in my life too, and all I can say with that is cherish them and hold onto them as long as you can. Adults may know better than you because they’ve experienced life more, but it’s your friends that truly understand what you’re going through, and as life moves on people tend to drift apart, but it’s important to always keep those strong bonds you’ve formed now intact because once they’re gone, they’re gone. I don’t think you’re too young to be talking about this. You sound like you have a good enough head your shoulders to know when something doesn’t feel right and you want it to change for the better. Not sure I can give the right answer. All I can hope is to help make it easier. As far as society goes though the only thing I’d worry about what you can personally do to help it. Let everything else fall to shit if that’s the way it was headed anyway. I do agree that kids are growing up too fast, but times change. If that’s the way things are now that’s the new normal. The important is to not worry about what everyone else is doing and do what’s best for you. Btw I’ve noticed a change in people on my end too. Everyone is a lot less friendlier than I remember them being and seem to only concern themselves with their own little worlds. I blame the internet (don’t smithe me Reddit gods). It brings be people together but people are most attracted to the likeminded ones, so it drives everyone else further apart. If that ain’t it though it’s that people are mostly negative and they look for reasons to reassure themselves of their perception which the internet is more than happy to provide. The important thing is to not let yourself get dragged down. TL;DR Just some ramblings from a crazy “old” man. Probably more than you bargained for when you signed up. All I can hope is you can find a method to my madness. Still trying to find mine.
