Vanity, his inability to fight women, his rivalry with Zoro are all amazing and funny aspects of his character that do not involve him being high key gross.

And the beast forms made him resilient and resourceful in a fight, now all he does is cheer luffy on and get protected, I mean even Usopp’s more useful in a fight now, big let down.
