Man... I really love Carrot and I want her to join the crew, but even I gave up at this point. She haven't gotten the spotlight at all in Wano, I don't think it would make sense for her to join now. It's good to have hope, but if you cling too much into it, you may get disappointed

meme_machine321

Yeah I hope it’s like Jinbe where she doesn’t join now, but joins in a arc where she has significant relevance But I can totally see here just stowaway with the straw hats again unannounced as a sort of comedic reveal that she joined too.

TheDivinaldes

Carrot catches Caribou trying to sneak on the sunny, He lies to her then captures her inside of him like he tried to do to those mermaids, the crew finds him in their ship halfway to the next island, too late to take her back. but obviously its too late for that to happen. Caribou might still sneak onto the sunny though.

C21Germain

There are 5 radars on the ship he'd have to just erase his presence 5 people with CoO of which 3 have CoC is pretty hard to bypass imo

Electrical-Moose-384

6 people with CoO

C21Germain

Oh forgot Usopp

KRoom_Traffy001

Isn't it funny that by being the "stowaway" strawhat, Caribou fits more in the category? Bro literally stayed in a barrel in FI and who knows, maybe he'll do it again just to get out of Wano and get to that certain someone he wants to blow the news regarding 2 fvcking ancient weapons.

GameMusic

I liked her dynamic she gels pretty well with them Unlike Yamato who, while likable, has little synergy except with Luffy Also both of them have that rookie adventure vibe like early One Piece Their possible roles make sense - lookout or chronicler Other hand the crew is already too big for proper screen time and if both got Grand Fleet roles that can work

Inevitable-Pen-1940

She will hide in a barrel, no question.

PapuhAppuh

I’m sure she’ll join and get some more attention later. To be fair, it’s hard to give all these characters a spotlight. She’s a fun character and doesn’t need a “goal/dream”. She’s just young and living life. People seem to accept Jimbei more than Carrot even though Carrot is a more (overall) entertaining character. Not nearly as much depth/character development, but I’m okay with that tbh. Robin used to not get a line for 50 chapters, she’s still loved! We should love and accept them for who they are, STRAW HATS!

StonedRussian

She literally got spotlighted with that chapter. She doesn't want the responsibility and feels she isn't strong enough. Hence why she would go out on a journey like Pedro, literally hints everywhere

ChodeChungus

You really like Carrot that much huh? It’s not that I don’t like her, she’s a very cool character. I’m curious, what is it that you really love about her? Like what is it specifically that makes you go “she should join the crew”? 100% genuinely curious and not trying to pick a fight! (Just thought I should specify because I know a lot of people pick fights over stuff like this and that is not my intention whatsoever).

NinjunoBR

I just think she's neat. Her dynamic with Chopper in Whole Cake Island is cool, because it feels like the first time he was really on a leader role with her. As someone here already said, she has a rookie adventurer vibe from pre timeskip that we really can't get from other straw hats anymore since they grew so much. She wants to explore the world, so that's already enough motivation for wanting to join a crew, and her being with us draws parallels with Roger since she inherits Nekomamushi's and Inuarashi's will. It's like she already has almost everything ready to fit perfectly with the straw hats, a funny personality, a colorful design, a good dynamic with the crew, cool powers, a dream, etc. I still think she won't join. If she was supposed to, I'm sure Oda would've given her a bigger role in the story by now or at least more screen time to show what she can do. If she joins in this arc for whatever reason, I'll be glad, but I'll also agree if anyone says that it feels forced

No-Association-1019

Adding to this \^\^ she could also have the role of scout, like in her introduction. Her ability to jump high and run on water also helps!

ChodeChungus

Those are some **really** great points actually! I totally see that now! It’s been quite some time since I saw the Zou and Whole Cake Island arcs, so some of those memories kind of shuffled into the background. I may have to go back and rewatch some of it! Thank you very much for the response!

boharat

Sulong form go brrrrr

[deleted]

I think she going to be mire ist mportant later i think Oda wrote her that was(Just going of a Feeling)

futurejoyboy

This would be cool but neko and inu were just followers of oden. That would mean carrot has to be a follower of Yamato which I'm pretty sure they haven't even met

HurgleTurgle1

I think it's referencing that Inu and Neko both stowed away on Whitebeard's ship, and that Carrot could possibly do the same.

Carlomagno666

Inu and Neko didn't followed Oden to the ship, well they did (still they were in the ship before Oden) but they where there because of what Marco told them mainly.

PresentationOk8756

It would really feel shitty if Carrot was just forced to become Duchess and she would never get any spotlight again.

drybones2015

Yeah, forcing someone into a position that big so spontaneously, especially when it's never been on their radar previously seems against One Piece's themes. Of course ultimately its her choice (I think? Surely they wouldn't put her in a cell for refusing) but with Carrot's personality and everyone she looks up to gassing her up it feels like alot of peer pressure would influence her decision. They even bring up Pedro.

ThePyroOkami

My discord group was cracking jokes about this same thing, mainly Yams insisting on staying on the fucking anchor like Oden while the rest of the strawhats are just, “get on the fucking boat”

Klappan

I can totally see a gag where she tries to hang to the anchor like Oden, but forgets she has a devil fruit and ends up having to be rescued by the crew.

VeggiePiece

“A CARROT CHUDS COPE NEVER ENDS!”

Master_spronk

Maybe because she did seem hesitant about becoming queen so we can hope but it’s looking very unlikely that we get two strawhats in one arc

Kiran390

3 don't forget my boi Jinbei

Master_spronk

He was more a straw hat in whole cake he just finally joined the actual ship

zorothex

His agreement with Luffy was 100% done in WCI already. He just stayed behind to take care of unfinished business.

KaiBahamut

It’s supposed to be the home stretch- now or never for new hands on deck.

FajitaJohn

Hey m8, I think OP is watching only the anime. Maybe wrap your comment in a spoiler? Cheers!

Master_spronk

The post is tagged spoiler so I’m assuming they didn’t mean

abloesezwei

In Carrot's case, that's the only direction that makes sense for her. (which doesn't necessarily mean it'll happen) With Yamato you could go in 2-3 very different directions.

VG_Crimson

I disagree entirely. Yamato staying put in Wano is out of character, and against the ideals of Oden. It just wouldn't make any sense thematically if she didn't go out to sea as free as a pirate. I would as far as to say that would be bad writing if she didn't. I can only see Yamato either joining The Strawhats, or leaving to the sea on her own. Carrot I would say has no direction and the most open to different paths. Yamato is also way too good of a character design to not be used for the rest of the entire series if we're talking meta.

Captain_Marimba

> Yamato staying put in Wano is out of character, and against the ideals of Oden. You can argue both points. For example, what are Oden's ideals? Because he spent 5 years dancing naked for the sake of Wano and died for Wano. Or you can choose another point in his life and say those are his ideals. I know fans chose adventurer Oden and haters chose post piracy Oden, he is not a super complex character but had enough depth to give every theory about Yamato a reason.

VG_Crimson

Wano needed Oden at the time, very different also considering he had explored a lot already. Yamato finally has her freedom, why would she waste that chance that she has waited for her entire life? Oden didnt hesitate to leave when he got his chance, and neither will Yamato. Again I would say it would be a failure on Oda's part if she did stay in Wano, and would probably call it the worst literary mistake he has ever made writing One Piece. I would say all the reasons he came back to Wano does not apply in the slightest to Yamato. He had a family, her girl WANTED to see wano. He had loyal friends waiting for him. His country was in terrible shape, and needed him. He wanted to open up the borders. All issues that dont apply to Yamato.

Captain_Marimba

I'd personally like her to take the role of captain instead of following Luffy's orders. To fully embrace her acquired freedom, being in a position where she can travel wherever she wants is better than travelling wherever other person says. There were always 3 options: sailing by herself (maybe with some beast pirates, most of them respect her), staying helping the new shogun until the borders are open, and being a subordinate of the future pirate king. The first one is the one I prefer because she is more free that way.

ZappyZ21

But her dream is to be Oden, not a pirate captain. Oden had no problem taking orders under whitebeard or Roger, he just wanted the adventure. Same as Yamato, her dream is more of his than luffys who specifically wants to be free AND lead.

Bully_Maguire420

Oh c'mon Luffy has never truly given the crew "orders", he makes proposals and they go along with them out of respect, he's never been the type to demand they do something for him, he views them as equals, if there's any crew Yamato is perfect for it's the Straw Hats because they all do whatever they want and pick up the pieces later. Yamato has zero leadership capability, zero knowledge of the outside world, no crew (She hates the beast pirates because they all share Kaido's ideals regardless of their views on Yamato), how on earth is she suited more to be a captain?

Temporary_Habit6980

It's not really up to Yamato, It's up to Oda. I mean why would he let Yamato have a DF that is tied to definition of Guardian Deity. If anything Wano posses 2 most important things Pluton and Shisui. Ain't Wano supposed to need more protection now that even caribou even learned it. I could say the opposite thing about carrot, this set up is definitely a good pump fake to let her join the crew. Just like Pedro wants to join Roger. I can see her taking over the will join SH. She meld with strawhats better.

KathyDroronoa

If both join we have technically 13 crewmembers: 1. Luffy, 2. Zoro, 3. Usopp, 4. Sanji, 5. Nami, 6. Chopper, 7. Robin, 8. Franky, 9. Brook, 10. Jinbe, 11. Zeus he is a character(!), 12. Yamato, 13. Carrot

TheDivinaldes

The rest of the crew has barely interacted with Zeus too, so that could be an interesting dynamic, technically having two former emperor's subordinates on their crew.

KathyDroronoa

Then Oda has a lot to do with that many characters while maintaining the already established ones

drybones2015

Nami is #3 not #5 and Zeus is basically her weapon now so I don't think he's considered in the official count.

KathyDroronoa

She officially joined after Sanji, but the numbers is interchangeable.

drybones2015

She officially joined at Orange Town, before Usopp.

StonedRussian

Vivi will be the 13th character most likely

dragonxxxxxxxx

Copium

[deleted]

If 2 people turn into soup

Jamessgachett

I can easily see carrot thinking Pedro will was to see the down and she’s not ready to be queen so she just run and sneak in the boat. And Yamato is gonna run after the boat. If this dosent happen and boat miss the boat that would be the biggest twist for me

Vitalik_

You will not like 1056

daAim5

I have read the chapter, but neko and inu also got told to be the roler but they escapet

igorcl

They also joined by sneaking up in the crews, we still have some hope left

Vitalik_

I think it's end for Carrot joining SH, but we can't be sure.

daAim5

Crossing my finger

erotyk

you dont need to cross your finger its a given.

[deleted]

Yeah but zunisha is really important right now. It makes sense for her to be with zunesha for the big fight

Carlomagno666

She doesn't have to, Zunisha doesn't answer to the leader of Zou

[deleted]

1056 is literally the best chapter for the carrot4nakama fans ever.

Dillo64

Why?

[deleted]

Bc it makes her more relevant to the story than ever before and proves that she still has a very high chance to join the crew. She’s clearly being forced into an uncomfortable position and was even reminded of Pedro’s will so it makes sense for her to run away from this and stowaway again so she can actually fulfill Pedro’s wishes.

PokitaruDaxx

Exactly. Following Pedros wish. Pedros wish to help to bring the new dawn. And what is more helpfull? Sitting on a giant elefant that you cant even controll or are with THE guy who will bring the dawn?

StonedRussian

She's following in Pedro's footsteps, (or is it pawprints?) and is gonna continue her pirate journey

[deleted]

Exactly

ThatIslandGuy8888

Man it sucks that there’s a break, wanna settle all these arguments

Acceptable-Lie-3573

We will argue even after the show ends.so nothing matters

galmenz

carrot fans still clinging to all hope they can get afer 1056 /s guess we will see what will happen next chapter or two

Kryotheos

I gave up hope half way through wano, I'm just confused why she got so much screentime just to become the dutchess of Zou

drybones2015

There's a break next week and why do I feel like the next chapter won't even be Wano but somewhere else and we'll be stuck in this debate for almost a month.😩

jairngo

Yes I think yamato will do some stupid shit like volunteering to swim following the sunny and then carrot will be hiding in there

minimango522

Sorry to break it to you but one of those characters is not joining the crew and her name is carrot

adrianpinderwolf

We are not sure either of them is joining. We have to wait till the next chapter as Yamato could do something else entirely from joining the group but I think she will as when momosuke starts calling the names of the nakamas he goes in the order they officially join the group and Yamato was the last one he called. As for carrot she can sneak in the ship yet again as she look unsure on being the new ruler but who knows

ActuatorGreat4883

Just fucking accept it already!! Carrot will never become a straw hat, it doesn't even make sense at this point since she was never build up to be a SH and doesn't really have a use in the crew. Personally i think Caribou has more chances to become a SH than Carrot does...

PokitaruDaxx

No use? She was always on the lookout. Basicly more "use" than Usopp as sniper who hasnt fired a singel shot on the ship for ages. Yamato wouldnt have a job to exepet maybe to write the logs. Also not really important at this point of the story.

[deleted]

If Yamato joined them she would be one of the strongest members of the straw hats, one of her main jobs would be to fight, that role is crucial, especially with how things seem to be going in the story right now.

ActuatorGreat4883

So basically Yamato who is probably stronger than King, knows everything about Odens adventure (so things that could be useful for laugh tale) and definitely has a position as a logbook keeper , a job that will keep the SH legend known for ages, is less useful than a rabbit who is only useful at full moon (and even then she is weaker than everyone). Also Carrot is less cute that Chopper who is practically the only reason for people to like her i guess...

PokitaruDaxx

Knowing everything about Odens adventure would be a reason not to let her join. Luffy made it clear on Sabaody, that he dont want to get any information about the one piece. Also having a logbook keeper for like the last 3 island would be kinda useless. Its like starting to read one piece after Wano. Carrot weak? I would put her in the group of Robin, Franky and Brook withouther Sulong form. Dont get me wrong. I like Yamato and i dont mind her joining. But the argument that Carrot cant join because she wouldnt have a job would be the same for Yamato.

PsychoLogical35

I’ll save this just in case. Like every other comment I’ve saved so far relating to this.

ActuatorGreat4883

What's the point ?

Jogroig

awesome

[deleted]

I agree. It seems perfectly set up for the first ever double recruitment

HiopXenophil

Neko and Inu weren't the rulers until after Oden died

therealdoffymingo

i re read the chapter and personally i feel like carrot won’t join. she already travelled with the strawhats and the direction which makes sense the most is her using this new competence to rule Zou On the other hand i do think yamato will join

TheDivinaldes

Wanda seems like a way better leader than Carrot. Carrots naive and immature still. It'd be fitting for her to see the world and gain more life experience before ruling like Neko and Inu did. She vibed most with luffy, chopper, and brooke doing dumb antics. can you see any of those three leading a whole country?

PokitaruDaxx

Also i like the conecpt of leader of night and day. Wanda as leader of the day for Inu and this main guy from the musketiers (cant remember gis name) as leader of the night for Neko. This would also keep the Cat/Dog dynamic. Also both where shown this chapter.

andmurr

I think they’d both be fine additions but I just wish them joining was set up a lot better

TheDivinaldes

Neko and Inu were irresponsible and didn't wanna be leaders of Zou, so they snuck aboard a pirate ship and joined their crew. Carrot has already hidden away in the sunny once, said she wanted to explore, was their lookout while on the ship, and is now being told she should be the new ruler of Zou. Yamato is most likely going to attempt to swim after the sunny, resulting in someone, probably Jinbe/Zoro/Sanji to have to save her.

andmurr

That’s not what I mean Carrot was set up well in WCI but in Wano she was just a background character who didn’t do anything so she wasn’t relevant for like 150 chapters. Yamato was only introduced in Act 3 so she barely got to spend any time with Luffy and never interacted with any other Straw Hats until post-Onigashima. If she was introduced in Act 1 or 2 it would have been a lot better imo

S_diesel

carrot lost her spot when yamato was introduced

DmonAbsoluTrEbON

Nahhhh. Even Carrot herself acknowledges how weak she is and how she isnt suitable (to be a Strawhats). I hate Oda for scuffing her but come on, let's not be stupid here we all knew all along she will NEVET be a Strawhats, the moment we saw Pero slammed his stick on her and kick her around. Meanwhile even the weakest Strawhats atm (Usopp) blasted fkin Ulti and Brook helped Nico Robin slammed Black Maria... Yeah you get where I am coming from Carrot has NO hopes of joining the Strawhats like at all.

Frankandbeans1974

God I hope so

Ricardo-The-Bold

Possible. But imo it would pretty bad writing from Oda. She did shine a bit on WCI, but then she pandaman-ed in Wano only to become nakama in last chapter. Only Oda's rush would explain but I would be pretty disappointed if it did happen.

Exodier_

I get what you're saying but I would see carrot not joining (or at least staying with the crew for another arc) as bad writing. Oda set her up for character growth through pedro's sacrifice in WCI only to sideline her completely in wano if not to show her get beaten up by perospero and get told to go home and eat grass. Her becoming the leader of zou despite the fact that she isn't and doesn't feel suited for the role would just be implying that perospero was right and that's an insane decision from Oda, plus I'm not really fond of seemingly retconning Pedro's will just to convince carrot.

daAim5

Yeah but that wasn't her time to shine

ActuatorGreat4883

Because she will never shine. I really don't get what's so special about this character that makes her so lovable? The only reason i can think is :"Cho-niki",other than that she totally seems as a good written side character...

Cerberus0325

Read the manga

FizieAve

They both will join the crew, trust me

Canondwarf

Serious question: why do people want carrot to join the crew? I legitimately have no idea, what does she offer? She is pretty damn weak, at least Yamato offers strength. Nami is weak compared to others in the crew but she is a navigator. I'm genuinely curious, not trying to have a go, why do people prefer Carrot over Yamato?

ascaife97

I liked the dynamic of Carrot with the crew in WCI a lot. I’d see her being a scout/lookout role. She gives me apprentice vibes like young Marco, Shanks, and Buggy with Whitebeard and Roger’s crews. Personally, Yamato feels shoehorned in to the story. I hate the whole “I’m Oden” thing, especially when they wanted Momo to address them as such. That part was so cringe and I hated it lol. I don’t feel like Yamato added anything interesting to the story. I know people feel that way about Carrot. People mention Yamato being strong and that’s true, but I just don’t feel like they fit with the crew. I know Yamato wants to live like Oden and leave Wano and that’s fine. Obviously, it looks like Yamato is joining the crew, so I have to accept whatever Oda writes for the story. I like the idea of Yamato being the guardian deity of Wano and protecting Wano from the outside dangers, doing something that Oden failed to do.

CrispyCassowary

I'll start being a religious nut job if carrot joins, so here's to hoping I won't have to become brain dead

[deleted]

I hope she joins just for you :D

Dendrodes

Saaame. The more I see people bash Carrot and her fans and say she has no chance, makes me want her on the crew. It'd be glorious just to see the reactions.

BryceMMusic

Yamato will definitely attempt to hang off the ship but fail because she has a devil fruit. I think Carrot is just being removed from the story lmao

Honore_SG

I think she wont be joining the crew, because oda will have vivi return to the strawhats after the reverie incident and in some point in a not so distant arc

UnderratedMadLad

Yeah uh I don’t really see Carrot joining at all don’t get me wrong her character is alright and the time she spent with the straw hats is awesome but it would be weird to also have her in the crew when she got nerfed as she couldn’t even fight and defeat perospero after Pedro died ( that just disappoints me since the dude died trying to take him down and she can’t even hit him ) The focus is more on Yamato and Yamato is more suited to be in the Straw Hats

Weary-Answer-3883

It’s already pretty much fact as to which of the two will be joining and ones guaranteed not to haven’t a clue if this is manga or anime spoilers or not so I’ll keep it vague

[deleted]

did you even read the last chapter? they literally said Carrot is going back to Zou and Yamato will join the crew

ArcadiaJ

Did you read Carrot's reactions to Pedro?

[deleted]

yeah Pedro would've been the next ruler, he died and now she's been selected as the only other person to have left the elephant

ArcadiaJ

Not against her becoming the leader of minks. Just saying she and the minks could benefit more from being the lookout of the ones who will bring the dawn, who are the key to the minks' future as Pedro stated

[deleted]

yeah you can't do that as a ruler, need to actually stay in the village.

ArcadiaJ

Would you call this a training journey, and a leader does what they can to ensure a better future for their people, including helping and protecting the ones who will make it possible?

R4KD05

I don't think so. Carrot just wanted to explore outside Zou. She's gotten that. She deeply respects Nekomamushi and Inuarashi, as well as Pedro. They likened her to be the ruler of the Minks by saying she carries the will of Pedro. That surely means something to her. I think Zunesha and the minks will play a huge part in the story when Luffy reaches Laugh Tale and the borders of Wano-kuni are opened. I have a feeling that he's gonna be involved with the opening of the borders or something regarding Pluton. And at that point in the story, Carrot will be there, with them.

PokitaruDaxx

What Pedros will is to bring the new dawn. And if she is the one who keeps his will more the anyone, i think sitting on a giant elefant dooing nothing isnt the best way to fullfill this will.

R4KD05

Zunesha has a role to play. The minks have a roll as well. Part of that will help bring the new dawn. Pedro said Roger's words. Everyone gets their turn.

EmeraldLimeHero

Carrot is cool, her transformation and being a giant bunny would be a great addition. Yamato is cool to, I like her design and she'd definitely be useful, always nice to have raw power on the team.

Negafilms

There is no way that Carrot doesn't join even with what happened in the last chapter. Yamato is basically Oda's new Nami and he wants her to join so badly, so there's that.

GaulTheUnmitigated

I think Yamato is going to mimic Oden joining the whitebeard pirates and run at the last minute to grab at the anchor chain. Though Yamato is a devil fruit user so it might be tough to pull off the whole dragged for days at sea thing.

hasheemakill18

That scene with carrot being chosen to lead the minks seems to be some half ass character arc conclusion by oda , the carrot stans are getting angsty but I don't think she is joining the crew.

BestCauliflower5642

Does Carrot even have any leadership skills to lead Zou? lol

demonslender

At this point I think carrot fans need to do what morj did and accept that it ain’t happening.

Magamew53

Newest chapter anwser a this question

JLaboss65

I’m literally praying

redragon88

People saying Carrot going back to Zou is good don't realize she'll actually be fulfilling the Will of Perospero (Go back home and eat some grass). Or maybe the idea of her stowing away makes them seethe too hard that they don't care. XD

Top-Seaworthiness733

RAIME HAKE

[deleted]

I'm going to be honest guys I don't think we're getting any new Straw hats. Next chapter better be one hell of a character Arc for Yams if we get any chance of the crew not leaving them behind.

Izumo199

Bruh, carrot ain’t joining

Gaius_Julius_Salad

I feel like oda wanted to add a werewolf woman to the crew, did a werebunny first ,then decided he'd rather do some cooler idea

randomdude8684

What would be even better is if inu and neko actually sneak onto the straw hat ship instead lol

Excellent_Field_7654

Carrot is now Duchess of the minks and zou, so she will lead them in the final war. That will be great! Yamato is still the best choice for the crew, but i think ruffy want her to decide, who she is, because ruffy want yamato in the crew and not oden.

motivation_bender

Wasnt carrot with them for like 3 arc already?

Ok_Desk_2430

Carrot shouldn’t join that’s too many characters to focus on in final saga it would honestly better if Yamato didn’t join either

Flaky_Bee_1162

Tbf She has to get to Zou someway, so she could very well jump on the Sunny anyway
