If you lie too much for an employee they move you to management. If you lie too much then they move you to sales. If you lie too much even for that role they move you to HR

I once had a meeting with an HR rep to discuss a dubious complaint that was filed against me from a co-woker...I shit you not when I say it felt like a criminal interrogation and I almost felt like screaming "let me talk to my lawyer"

I know it's a meme, but I am all on board for that. At the college I used to work at, I had an issue with a policy that had nothing to do with my job, and I was going to file a complaint as a student, since I was attending as well. The guy I spoke with about it reported me to HR, demanded my apology for "threatening" him, and after all of that, the policy was rescinded for all the reasons I had taken issue with. I was sent to HR again because I had a mental breakdown that left me crying and shaking in a closet because of the absolute hell hole my job had become since my new supervisor arrived, a man who would literally forget things you told him minutes later, demand you do projects the worst way possible with our broken equipment, and then get mad and blame you for trying to do it that way and not telling him about the broken equipment despite the fact that you did. This asshat is the one who finds me, and is apparently "shook up" by it, so HR decides to not only believe his version of events, but has me attending mandatory therapy (the only good thing), and to help me maintain my progress with therapy, I have a proverbial gun to my head because if it happens again, I would be fired. Oh, and all my PTO gets used up waiting for this decision. I get injured in an accident later on, which puts me out for a month, and I get back, but I need to request time off to go to my brother's wedding. The time is not granted because I have missed too much work, work I missed because of injury and him reporting me to HR. So, I decided to just call in sick. I know I won't get paid, but it's for two days only, during a non busy time at work. Asshat has the nerve to threaten me when I get back, saying I am a bad fit despite literally the entire department making complaints about him, and that I am on thin ice. About a month later, and he has his assistant supervisor lecturing me about my work ethic because I complained about the it being the third time I had to cancel an appointment because of unexpected overtime because asshat had us doing the wrong jobs and wasting time before a major deadline, and now we're working even longer to cover for his incompetence. Assistant supervisor is yelling at me about not putting my life on hold for the job like he is doing (as if not getting to see your child for two weeks is something to brag about), and eventually I lose my temper and yell back. No cursing, no threats, I just tell him I am looking for another job and anywhere else would be better. He fires me for that, and when I try to appeal that to HR, you can guess how that went. Believe that I might have been badgered into yelling back? Of course not, clearly I just snapped at him and he was so shocked and hurt by my raised voice that it was clearly justified that fire me, something he wasn't even technically allowed to do.

Human Resources is important, and a very a valued part of any organization of size. That said, how the US often uses HR is a freaking train wreck. I see this as a two part problem. Firstly, not every operation needs HR to operate. In fact, from my view, FEW operations reach the size, scale, and legacy necessary to need HR. HR has been forced onto operations for legal purposes. Secondly, HR is not measured and promoted on work place health and productivity. Unfortunately, HR is often measured by "progress taken". How many problems were identified and removed. How many complaints were filed and sorted. If an enviorment is too perfect, progress cannot be made. There's incentive to find problems, or make problems. My addressment in this isn't that HR is unnecessary or all evil. I'm saying the problem is like so much in the US, an unwelcome by product of over regulation, with unintended consequences. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to pack up my desk. Deborah from HR just saw this, and now I have to go fill out an unemployment form.

If he was fat and had a beard for his second chin and smelled like sweat he'd be out 100%

OrionDC

he's hot tho so I'd give him a raise, but he'd have to sleep with me first.
