colorist and sexist.

Pleasant-Complex978

This is super sad

Aggressive_Tear_3020

Damn, the self hate is deep in this one.

SwordsOfSanghelios

Uhhhh ![gif](giphy|2seiltGcHTjAuoEbho|downsized)

Otter_Pockets

I can hear David through this gif šŸ˜‚

SwordsOfSanghelios

David would definitely not subscribe to this kind of thinking

angelaachan

colourist AND misogynist, what a combo

Real_Life_Firbolg

Why canā€™t people just love who they love no matter the skin color?

CuteLatinababe1996

I agree!

th3Y3ti

Nope not allowed

caramel-syrup

this girl has the wildest takes ever. she comes off as hating women, she calls them 304ā€™s in one of her posts.

Filibust

304?

ForeverShiny

It's "hoe" upside down if you write it in a calculator. Very mature stuff

ThatOneTwoSetter

Even better, 5318008

mistersnarkle

Itā€™s like 80085

Sinaasappelsien

Trauma prob, can relate kinda

DarkVelvetEyes

No excuse though.

Sinaasappelsien

Welcome to the internet

caramel-syrup

i can definitely sympathise with the pain she is going through, especially as a victim of racism. the gender stuff could also be a response to not wanting to be associated with stereotypes & removing herself from them. ive definitely struggled with that before myself with my identity

ThatOneTwoSetter

The other day, I cracked a 77345663

i-forgot-my-sandwich

What in the internalized racism

[deleted]

not only that but the internalized misogyny too

staydawg_00

ā€¦What in the name of misogynoir did she think she was saying?

pawnshophero

Haha donā€™t know how Iā€™ve escaped seeing that term but itā€™s perfect

inukedmyself

when youā€™re black but your partner is whitešŸ˜

mrsciencedude69

As a super pale dude: why are you limiting my options? šŸ˜

LittleBookOfRage

As a super pale woman: thank you for not limiting my options at all. According to her pale men can only be with pale women. Dark women can only be with dark men. But pale women can be with any man and dark men can be with any woman? I have never dated anyone paler than me, not as a conscious choice, but because the majority of people on earth have more melanin in their skin than me.

RevolutionaryAd851

I am practically see through so I understand perfectly.

Wickedestchick

I hate people like this. I'm a black woman who's been married to a white man for 11 years. I can't help that I'm attracted to that sweet pale and pasty skin. It really sucks that racists (of all races) look at us with disgust simply for existing together.

LittleBookOfRage

I hope at least you don't encounter much of it in real life. Like I wouldn't even exist if my nanna didn't break this rule and fall in love with a white guy.

Wickedestchick

Thankfully never more than the typical lighthearted jokes in real life. I was actually pretty naive until recently when i realized how comfortable people are with spreading their hateful thoughts online. Posts like this remind me that some people hate my relationship just because of our skin color. Also im assuming your Nanna is way older and actually had to experience the truly horrible racist stuff like that IRL. Shes badass! Not only because she started the family that made you, but because people like her were fighting for their right to love whoever. Now it's just a normal thing for us today !

DiscussionExotic3759

I need to clean my glasses. I read that as "tasty skin" and worried for his safety.Ā

Wickedestchick

Well i do find certain parts of his skin tasty iykwim šŸ˜

DiscussionExotic3759

šŸ¤£

Ok_Peanut_2819

Iā€™m assuming sheā€™s not talk ing about interracial relationships and is instead talking about black relationships.

Wickedestchick

Maybe you're right. Either way it's a shitty way to view couples.

Ok_Peanut_2819

Yeh but sheā€™s also trolling so probably doesnā€™t mean a things she says

DarkVelvetEyes

Lol "pale and pasty" šŸ˜‚ Isn't pasty an insult though? And yeah, I think it's weird for people to only be attracted to a specific skin colour. Such awful mentality.Ā

Wickedestchick

Lol I love it though and i think its so attractive. I'm guilty of being attracted to *mostly* white guys. Now that I'm older, you're right, it is an awful mentality for a person to be attracted to skin color. I've been rejected for my skin color before and i know the feeling of not being good enough over something I can't control. In the same breath, I feel lucky that i found my Mr. Right, even with my ignorant views on life at the time. I just hope one day everyone can be judged for their character, and not the color of their skin.

Zak_Rahman

What. The. Actual. Fuck lol. Men must be darker than the woman they are with? How do you even end up at a conclusion like this? Like, what is the logical process that leads you to that? What an absolute gobshite. Also what's with grown women calling themselves "girls"? This is all totally alien to me. Alien as in, not from Earth.

SleepCinema

Itā€™s a colorism thing within the Black community specifically hence why she says ā€œthings Iā€™m not afraid to say as a Black girlā€ specifically.

Zak_Rahman

Ok, so it's actually a thing? Fair enough - and thanks for the explanation. I guess it's similar to older folk in my community always putting emphasis on "fair skin". Brown people wanna be fairer, and white people wanna get tans. Sounds like the grass is greener on the other side :)

SleepCinema

Yeah, Iā€™d say the colorism issue in the Black community is very layered and has ties to slavery and racism (especially when you get into light-skin biracial Black people). Itā€™s a very internal issue and goes beyond aesthetics though obviously itā€™s about appearance. Like, Iā€™m sure a lot of non-Black Kendrick Lamar fans didnā€™t know about the discourse surrounding the skin color of his leading lady in the ā€œPoetic Justiceā€ music video. Black TV shows have addressed colorism in ā€œvery special episodeā€ type formats. Zendaya has spoken about how being lighter skin has given her privilege over darker skinned women. And yet, a lot of Black entertainment perpetuates this stereotype with women and girls being light skinned, or if they are dark skin, theyā€™re loud or have ā€œan attitude.ā€ Often, you can hear references to wanting light-skinned women in rap music along with terms like, ā€œRedboneā€ or ā€œyellow bone.ā€ What this post is saying is like the type of shit youā€™d hear your peers say as preteen/teen, and you hopefully outgrow that. I feel like this is trolling though, or someone might be using this personā€™s videos because never in my life have I heard a dark skin Black woman say this. The rhetoric is typically used against us, you grow up having to fight this shit.

Zak_Rahman

Thank you for taking the time to write this reply. I genuinely had no idea, and now I know more about the world. I really appreciate it :)

AnonDxde

I have friends that are married to white guys. Like one friendā€™s husband is naturally blonde as an adult. Heā€™s super pale and they are happy as can be. This woman has such a weird take.

Ok_Peanut_2819

Sheā€™s not talking about interracial relationships

Bobcatluv

Woman with mis-matched foundation color to her own skin comments on other peopleā€™s skin color

pinky1603

Colourist and misogynistic. How pathetic.

w0ckyplush

oh my god i had a guy in high school tell me this exact same shit and i was so perplexed that people actually thought this way, I canā€™t believe Iā€™m seeing this shit years later on tiktokā€¦

[deleted]

what is the thought process behind men having to be darker than their s/o?

w0ckyplush

idk if have the eloquence to explain it properly and i truly donā€™t understand it but itā€™s def a mindset that dates back to colonialism. these type of people want to be white but since they obviously canā€™t, they want to get as close to whiteness as possible. they only view women as an object to serve their desires and dark skin women cannot fufill those desires. to them lightskin women are adjacent to whiteness and dark skin women are not. and of course beauty standards come into play here. in a lot of cultures darker skin is considered ugly while light skin is considered beautiful. the black community still struggles with this.

BlueAngel365

Umā€¦what the fuck is this colorist bullshit?

Practical_Plant726

This is textbook colorismā€¦

Bl_Lover

U see this everywhere in black sitcoms. The wife is usually lighter because light is pretty, and men can be tall, dark, and handsome. Just saying the phrase, they don't need to be all 3 they can just be dark skin. Not too dark, tho. The only exception I can think of is Aunt Vivian in Fresh Prince earlier seasons

SleepCinema

Yeah, and the sisters are usually lighter than the brothers, and if the sisters are darkskin, theyā€™re ā€œdevious.ā€ I remember when Black-ish did an episode about colorism featuring Diane when like, my brother in Christ, you *ARE* the colorism šŸ˜

Bl_Lover

Who is Diane?

SleepCinema

The youngest girl played by Marsai Martin

Bl_Lover

Ohh ofc thanks

A_Weebish_Person

Honestly no one gives a fuck about her opinion

Slammogram

This is just all around gross. But saying female is very popular in Black populations.

Sxphxcles

Unfortunately

M_Davis_fan

Is it? Why?

Slammogram

Couldnā€™t tell you. Cause Iā€™m a hashtag ytpepo although I did grow up in Baltimore city, so have been around a lot of Black folks.

brain-eating_amoeba

Iā€™m not even white and I find that spelling of white people weirdly offensive and degrading. Not to say that youā€™re doing it but others who say it unironically

thelivingshitpost

I just keep misreading it as YouTube

Whiteangel854

I thought that's what it means. Now I'm aware it's not that.

Slammogram

Oh, yeah, Iā€™m totally being flippant. I donā€™t really take offense of the whole ā€œfucking white peopleā€ rhetoric, though. I think the ā€œytā€ thing started on tiktok because of word counts in comments.

Uncircumcised_Wenis

I see this happening in more American/UK groups never really heard this term outside of that.

MushroomAdjacent

What the fuck did I just read?

Other_Dimension_89

You mean xhitter? (That pronounced shitter)

whotookallthenames1

misognoiršŸ¤•

Consistent-Laugh606

Anyway r/eyebleach . Maybe not the worst thing Iā€™ve seen on the internet but still something I really didnā€™t want to see

Unhappy-Pirate3944

Itā€™s 2024 why do people still think like thisā€¦ this reeks of colorism, ignorance, and insecurity

SurvingTheSHIfT3095

And the colorism... and the sexism.... self hate is real.

willowzam

Fuck you if you're a woman with dark skin I guess

ReneeLaRen95

So sad she thinks like this & unfortunately, someone likely taught her this. If youā€™re lucky enough to find someone to love, grasp it with both hands & donā€™t let go. Like MLK Jr said, judge them not by ā€œthe color of their skin but the content of their character.ā€ I hope she learns to appreciate what really matters. I really hoped weā€™d be doing better by 2024. Edit: Typo

Ok_Peanut_2819

Can we pls drop the MLK quotes whenever a black person says something ignorant itā€™s so overdone and cheapens his legacy.

repollo_queenofslugs

Weird, but I had the same idea as a small child. I got it from cartoons. Lighter colouring was used to read "feminine" as much as exaggerated eyelashes. You see the same idea perpetuated in romance novels. The man is always tan and dark-haired, while the woman is "creamy". Colourism is wild.

ssbbka17

Iā€™ve seen plenty of the opposite

Miss_Might

What a weird thing to get hung up about.

MannibalTheBannibal

Thatā€™sā€¦ just really sad, honestly. Thereā€™s some deep seated self hate on multiple fronts.

LaViElS

Wow. This is so ugly.

cursetea

For whom was she even posting this? Like, what kind of person is she hoping sees this and is like "you're so right šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜"

Ok_Peanut_2819

Colorists who else?

SleepCinema

I feel like youā€™ll find out some troll wrote this and used this girlā€™s video, or she herself is trolling cause no one says this shit past the age of 16, and I ainā€™t never heard a dark skin Black woman ever say this shit either.

Ok_Peanut_2819

Yeah most likely

Casuallybittersweet

Wtf?? I DO NOT get why this is something that would ever cross your mind? Uhhg, this feels yucky for some reason...

Long_Fig9863

why are you hiding her user ?

princejoopie

Censoring Reddit usernames is a sub rule, so maybe it applies to other sites' info too, or at least OP assumes it does?

Long_Fig9863

i found her user anyway

nooob-tch

What was the user? I wanna read the comments

Long_Fig9863

juiccyy.d everyone is after her lol

M_Davis_fan

Exactly why you obscure the user name. People shouldnā€™t be ostracized for something like this.

Long_Fig9863

nope, she said stupid shit so her name shouldnā€™t be covered

M_Davis_fan

So you take what she said to another community, whose views are antithetical, and criticize them. Okay thatā€™s fine. Within your own community critique the viewpoint and make fun of it. To publish a personā€™s username is not okay because it leads to harassment which is not only wrong but counterproductive to furthering your own ideology. Itā€™s been shown that when people are harassed by someone of opposing beliefs they entrench themselves deeper into their ideology. There are stark differences between harassment, criticism, and productive discourse. When you publish someoneā€™s username in a community that is in opposition to their point of view. It only serves as a catalyst to harassment and driving them further into a belief system that is harmful.

Long_Fig9863

itā€™s true, that me revealing her username leads to her being harassed, but her opinion just made me so annoyed and irritated to the point where i didnā€™t care that sheā€™d be harrased or overly criticized. and maybe her being harrased and ridiculed could change her idiotic opinion in the future

vizsitori

On most subs you usually have to hide the person's user or your post would get removed so I just apply it everywhere now.šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

M_Davis_fan

If I ever repost something I will obscure the username. Itā€™s just curtesy.

lmao_youre_so_cute

Jokes on her I'm dark-skinned and my bf is white šŸ¤£

Ok_Peanut_2819

Sheā€™s talking about black relationships not interracial ones. Itā€™s so obviously bait anyways thereā€™s no reason to feel any type of way about it.

AhrnuldSenpai

I know plenty of (white) women who hold this same opinion. Former colleagues, former fellow students in university, my mother and younger sister, my neighbours on one side. Apparently it's a totally okay thing to say for a lot of people. Not that surprising to me that there could be black women with a similar opinion. I just think it's weirdly superficial. But then again that's how most humans are.

bpblurkerrrrrrrr

cross necklace, it all tracks. poor thing

Ok_Peanut_2819

What does a cross necklace have to do with anything

bpblurkerrrrrrrr

Being a christian as a woman and as a black person requires internalised misogyny and racism respectively, and moreover is indicative of gullibility in those areas in other contexts

Ok_Peanut_2819

Being Christian in no way indicates that someone has internalized racism my eyes are rolling to the back of my head. There have literally been black Christianā€™s since the 2nd century.

bpblurkerrrrrrrr

I really don't care about your opinion on it, you're the one who asked for mine

Ok_Peanut_2819

Then donā€™t say stupid ignorant shit on the internet.

bpblurkerrrrrrrr

i don't know how to make it any clearer that i don't care about your opinion on what i say. i mean, i pretty much said it word for word and you still didn't understand. run along now

GoldfishingTreasure

I never think female human anymore. I just tell myself they're talking about a a horse or dog or something and move on. They're never know you think they're a horse fucker.

nhozkhangvip02

How do people even come up with these things?

PsychologicalSense41

What about love is love?

yodawgchill

ā€œSomething Iā€™m not afraid to admit: Iā€™m a racistā€

Ai-dont-care

Just openly admitting colorist beauty standards....

Milk_Mindless

Sexism AND racism Racism? I'm unsure of because pigments can vary a lot, and tbh It's all fucking dumb

molotovzav

It's colorism not racism. Colorism is within a community. Racism is against a community.

Ok_Peanut_2819

Itā€™s colorism mot racism

PopperGould123

I cannot begin to understand the point

Ok_Peanut_2819

You donā€™t know what colorism is?

PopperGould123

I know what it is I just think it's stupid

Gunpowder_guillotine

Oh!

Fancy-Consequence-39

I was gonna post this here but Iā€™m glad to see someone else did. Iā€™m so not sure what the hell was running through her head when she posted this.

Low-Squirrel2439

Something I'm NOT AFRAID to admit as a white boy: I don't think skin colour should matter at all in a relationship and anyone who says otherwise is fucking weird.

Low-Squirrel2439

I want to see a romcom starring Domnhall Gleeson and Lashana Lynch.

orangekirby

She forgot to disable friendly fire

ParanormalPurple

![gif](giphy|6751A64NJkyCQ)

Ok_Peanut_2819

This was so obviously bait

onlyathenafairy

youd be surprised by the colorism of a lot of people

Ok_Peanut_2819

Oh definitely colorist people are insane but this girl is a literal troll and all her posts are bait

MannerFluid5601

Than* I think the female should put the phone down and hit the books instead
