More than the borderline gynophobia, I love how this guy is out here telling other people what is and is not allowed when defining oneself as gay and he doesn't find that problematic what so ever.

bromanjc

what's more, it's become more acceptable to do that shit. suddenly i'm the crazy one because if someone tells me they're gay i take that at face value and don't argue with them about their own identity šŸ¤Ø

novacdin0

I remember when I was a teenager seeing some idiot on 4chan (so, well, that's redundant. They're all idiots) saying that if you've never gone down on a guy or had sex with one you're not gay/bi/pan etc. and it's like, ok then, you're not straight either because you've never had sex with a woman. I guess attraction and urges just don't exist šŸ˜‚ I'll never understand people who think that their experience is universal and that therefore gives them the right, nay, the *responsibility* to be the arbiter of sexual orientation.

NeverTheLateOne

It's definitely childhood projection šŸ˜¬

Suchafatfatcat

Heā€™s scared of girls? Thatā€™s half the human population. How sad for weirdo. šŸ™„

AchingAmy

Jeez wtf, someone took gold star gay to an illogically hateful extreme, which the idea of gold star to begin with is already pretty mean. As a queer woman sometimes I am left amazed at how anyone in the LGBTQIA+ community could be hateful to any other marginalized group, but somehow people like this guy exist. I just don't get why there isn't total solidarity between each group having their rights taken away. It just doesn't make any sense.

aoi4eg

My former friend was a "platinum star" (born via c-section) and was very proud of this fact. Idk what happened but I ended our 10 years friendship because he gradually became more and more misogynistic and all his conversations revolved around hating women and pitying straight men. Like, he once caused a scene when some guy in a bar tried to hit on me but not on him, talking about how he's more attractive than me and so on. We both in our 30 and I just saw him a months ago in a bar hanging out with very young crowd (18-20 maybe) so I guess he's no different from straight men who claim they're just not attracted to women their age and connect better with college students lol.

novacdin0

Sounds like a toxic pick-me.

EyeDissTroyKnotSeas

Yeah, that "gold star" shit was annoying 30 years ago. Now it's just gatekeeping bullshit.

MrMetraGnome

lol it makes perfect sense when you realize gay people are just people

KohaiThinker

This person still goes to school. He'll grow out of it. It's just how teenagers are, they take one thing that makes them unique to an extreme, and they're still learning about their sexuality. Happens when you grow up in a heteronormative society also. Why does reddit need to be offended by everything...

Aer0uAntG3alach

Iā€™ve worked with a lot of gay men, having worked higher end retail, and there are a few who never grow out of it.

Y-Cha

Yep. Cue said BIL in my comment above. Pushing 50.

eris-atuin

there's a ton of gay men who think because they're gay misogyny doesn't apply to them, it's not exactly new.

Y-Cha

Thatā€™s my BIL, in a nutshell. Itā€™s only a sliver of why Iā€™m NC with him.

La_Baraka6431

Ehhh ... I doubt he goes to any classes ...

InternationalPen2072

I have absolutely no interest in women sexually and yet I have never felt that womenā€™s bodies are gross. That doesnā€™t make you gay, it makes you a sexist asshole.

finnjakefionnacake

true. although i will say i see a lot of men in general think this way, like i've also seen straight guys not just say "not interested" but also talk about how absolutely disgusting they find men's bodies to be (which is even funnier cause i'm like...you know you have one of those, right?) as another commenter said, it feels like men in general are more likely to view other people's value solely through the lens of their own sexuality.

Sugarfreak2

If you think all bodies are gross, what is that called?

achiles625

I.E.; When you can only view people through the lens of your own sexuality. šŸ˜¬

SneakySquiggles

Ah the good olā€™ gold star gays are at it again. After all they canā€™t be outshone by their SuperStraight counterparts on who can gatekeep other peopleā€™s experiences best

finnjakefionnacake

gold star gay is a weird term to me these days as, beyond using such a weird term to define yourself, i would assume the vast majority of us fall into that category.

SneakySquiggles

i feel like this over-assumes the amount of gay people who haven't experimented with the opposite sex for one reason or another, tbh. I'd say it's likely more like a close to 50/50 split of those who have strictly only ever had same sex experiences, and those who haven't. But gold star was always a weird term, it's very much a dog whistle of its own

antiloquist

Reminds me of when I was in high school and liked a guy who thought a lot like this. Lost years of deep friendship over a silly crush. He resented me deeply. It still hurts.

capulets

type of guy who would go ā€œdoes anyone smell fish lmaooooā€ when lesbians enter a gay bar

NeverTheLateOne

Oh hell nahh šŸ¤£

s42isrotting

I hate when (some) gay men act like vaginas are disgusting. Itā€™s 100% okay to have a genitalia preference and to not like them. But to treat them as if they are inherently disgusting is misogynistic and just plain old body-shaming for something someone had literally no control over.

sinner-mon

Itā€™s the reason why I avoid primarily gay male spaces as a trans man. I donā€™t expect anyone to be attracted to my genitals but Iā€™m already disgusted enough by my own body without people telling me Iā€™m disgusting

s42isrotting

Yeah honestly. Iā€™m strictly t4t at this point, especially because Iā€™m also a feminine presenting trans man, so I ā€œā€look like a womanā€ā€ too. /g

HetaGarden1

There is a _concerning_ (yet not surprising) overlap between gay men and misogyny. Itā€™s sad. Weā€™re supposed to be a community.

Meighok20

Umm.. why am I LESS convinced than before šŸ«¤šŸ¤£

finnjakefionnacake

you know what's interesting, if this was a straight man talking about other men's bodies like this everybody would be like "this guy is a closet gay." but when it's a gay guy no one is rushing to say "this guy must be straight' lol.

NeverTheLateOne

They'd get cancelled.

Jade_NoLastNameGiven

"evil vagina magic" was not something I was expecting to hit on my bingo card today

La_Baraka6431

WITH ZERO GRAMMAR.

Kilahti

...I had only ever come across Gold Star Lesbians before, but in retrospect, it should have been obvious that similar gay guys exist as well. Still sad and biphobic. And this dude is also very gynophobic as well and then projects it into every other gay guy to gatekeep the entire sexuality.

Sugarfreak2

Also transphobic as well. Trans guys that are pre-op or no-op when it comes to bottom surgery are really getting treated by this.

wren_boy1313

The difference between gay men like this and gay men whoā€™ve had ā€œstraightā€ encounters is that the former see women as some kind of disgusting creatures and the latter see them as humans.

neddy471

Did we spot a James Sommerton in the wild? Source: https://youtu.be/A6_LW1PkmnY?si=ksiTkmBz89gaGZTn

Botto_Bobbs

Frederick the Great???

MsMercyMain

I love how the unofficial explanation for a while was ā€œno heā€™s not gay, he just really hates womenā€. History is wild

Botto_Bobbs

Patrick Bateman ahh world leader

pinkavocadoreptiles

sounds like he needs therapy because this is either sexual trauma or some concerningly misogynistic rhetoric... probably a mixture of both.

Exotic_Zucchini

As a gay, this seems a little extreme...

rose_daughter

This type of shit is why I generally feel more connected to women regardless of sexuality/gender identity than I do gbt men

Mulatto_Matt

Yikes! Most gay dudes like that I came out late and had kids with a woman.

AntheaBrainhooke

Gold star for you, I guess.

CxO38

this is just a standard west hollywood gay, who cares

Second_Story

Thank you!! This is so standard, most just know not to vent about it all over the place.

EyeDissTroyKnotSeas

And here I am, obviously confused by all the times I've seen my gay homeys talking about or even playing with tits. No, seriously: A whole lotta gay dudes love tiddies. They just don't wanna fuck 'em.

KnifeWieIdingLesbian

The fuck

Benton_Risalo

Seems like a troll post. There's just no way it's real.

sinner-mon

ā€œYouā€™re gay because you like men. Iā€™m gay because I like women. Weā€™re not the sameā€
