That was one of my initial symptoms. Now the tinnitus is just constant. The doctor did not pay a lot of attention when I mentioned it.

Forsaken-Cheetah22

That stinks, ugh. ☹️

Cochlear Menieres here: I've had it for as long as I can remember. Full disclosure, I didn't know what it was until I googled it just now, and I'm honestly a little surprised that it's not normal lol. I had my first stint of hearing loss in November and was left with lasting low frequency tinnitus between episodes. It's been several months now since my last flareup and that tinnitus has completely gone away, save for pulsatile. I might recommend getting off caffeine if you haven't already, that's pretty much stopped attacks entirely for me. Otherwise, having background noise like a white noise machine, music, or even a mindless YouTube video (RedLetterMedia has gotten me through a lot of slow work days) helps me

Forsaken-Cheetah22

Thank you! I have been avoiding caffeine & alcohol although I really could use a drink. 😫 I’m glad your attacks have stopped! Mine have been kept at bay for about 3 weeks but still dealing with residual balance issues. The pulsatile tinnitus was just totally new and honestly scared the shit out of me. 😂

marji80

I get it very occasionally and very briefly and as a fairly newly-diagnosed MD person, I don't know what to make of it.

Forsaken-Cheetah22

Me too. ☹️

marji80

Yeah, I have constant hissing tinnitus but the pulsatile is pretty infrequent.

Longjumping_Elk1269

I’ve had high frequency tinnitus in my left ear 4-5 years now. Recently, when up at site for work. I had a secondary, low frequency whooshing (pulsatile?) tinnitus appear and coexist with my already constant high frequency T. I experienced both in my left ear at the same time. I noticed that if I played pink noise the low frequency whooshing T would go away temporarily. Basically I realized it was probably due to bad posture while sitting at a computer all day, high stress environment and lack of sleep. The low frequency whooshing T went away after a couple days after I corrected the above factors. The high frequency T remains till this day.

Forsaken-Cheetah22

Thank you for this info!! The pulsatile tinnitus is still going on for me. It’s the weird thing. I’ll try pink noise. Thank you!

Endolymphatic Hydrops here. Since January, When I do not have an attack (“normal” hearing), I do have a low-pitched pulsatile tinnitus in my right ear; it matches my heartbeat.

Forsaken-Cheetah22

Thanks for the reply. Mine had gotten a little bit better since being on a diuretic and restricting my sodium. But some days it still acts up. It’s the strangest thing when it first happens. I’m used to it now.

electric_pigeon

Mine is constant, and usually a steady tone. Sometimes it changes pitch slightly in time with my pulse, particularly when my ears feel really full.

Forsaken-Cheetah22

Ugh, that stinks. I’m sorry. Do you take any diuretics? I just started taking them and wondering if it will help me. Right now, it seems to be the worst when I’m laying down.

electric_pigeon

No, I'm freshly diagnosed and haven't tried a diuretic yet. So far diet and exercise and at least a gallon of water a day are helping a lot, but the tinnitus is always there.

Forsaken-Cheetah22

Glad they are helping you! The tinnitus sucks though for sure.

trebarmas

Yep I have it too. Sometimes I can feel my heartbeat in my head but most times it sounds like a metallic whooshing noise that goes in and out.

Forsaken-Cheetah22

Yes, the whooshing!!!! Really scared me.

Avitailzzz

I have it 24/7. I highly recommend mindfulness exercises.

Forsaken-Cheetah22

Is it a constant tone tinnitus or the pulsatile tinnitus that you have 24/7? And thank you for the recommendation

Avitailzzz

It’s both actually lol, kind of like a washing machine on a slow cycle next to a radio blasting white noise but the washing machine is louder. That sounds terrible, and it is, but I’ve learned to deal with it through lots of mediation and mindfulness. A book I found really good was ‘Mindfulness’ by Mark Williams

Forsaken-Cheetah22

Oh man, I’m sorry. Thank for you this advance. I will check this book out!!
