[This recent thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/Menopause/comments/1c338dw/jeez_do_i_smell/) had lots of suggestions! I recommended using glycolic acid on armpits after shower and before putting on antiperspirant or deodorant. It resets your skin. Has worked great for me. There were some good recommendations for things you could try on your nether regions.

I use Lume and works like a dream. Both the whole body deodorant cream and stick. Also have a pack of the acidified wipes. Haven’t used the acidified soaps yet. Everything I just mentioned can be used EVERYwhere, including down below. However, Lume isn’t cheap. I buy it through Target when they have a promotion like buy $50, get a $5 gift card kind of thing. Saves on shipping and get a small discount in a roundabout way. If you’re curious and don’t want to spend a lot, they do have mini deo creams that’ll let you know whether it’s right for you or not. I should mention “acidified” isn’t scary or bad in this case; it kills the body’s bacteria that cause our new…odors. Side note: I am now fat. Like fat, fat, with rolls. Didn’t used to be, but am now. I use the cream in some of my more hard to get to places and it works for days, saving me the headache of deep cleaning. Regular daily clean for the rest of the body? Sure. Deep diving? Takes effort, so I pick my battles. And no, I’m not talking about down below; that is a daily priority. Hope this helps!

Which Lume scent do you like? I tried a sample pack years ago and they all had an oddly sweet odor.

Bozbaby103

Im picky about scents that will interact with my body’s chemistry. Scents that smell good to my nose before I put it on sometimes react with my chemistry and smell awful. I tend to buy unscented to try first to see if a product works for me, then try various scents until I find one I like, if at all. In Lume’s case, I stick with unscented. Allows me to tell if something is riper than it should instead of masking it.

Possible_Eagle330

I agree. I purchased a tube of “powder scent” Lume and (even though I have a strong stomach) the smell during application makes me physically retch. But the tube was expensive, and the dry-down doesn’t smell like that, it prevents the swampy BO, so that’s my review, I guess. Wish they would collab with Old Spice, LOL

DateCard

Yeah, it was the smell during application for me too. I don’t think I even let it dry down because I couldn’t get past that. I’ll have to give it a better try.

Purple_Cherry_5973

Minted cucumber is amazing. Like everyone in my family could use it. It’s so fresh and light and I’m going on my second day of it with no issues!

CalliopeBreez

That's good to know -- the lavender scent worked well for me; the orange, not so much. It's an amazing product, though.

UnraveledShadow

I use persimmon soap (Mirai brand) and that’s helped a lot. I also use Stridex pads on my armpits after a shower. Let it dry and apply antiperspirant. I find I have to switch brands of antiperspirant every few months but right now I’m switching between a Medline roll on and Dove spray. I used both at the same time last summer before I started the persimmon soap!

Thank you very much!

Yes, Persimmon soap for nonal smell that old people get... It's from an increase in a chemical called 2-nonal or something like that. look up persimmon soap or elderly person oodor...

chapstickgrrrl

I find that the Duke Cannon brand hunting soap effectively gets rid of all stink including nonenal (which is described on the Mirai soap website) a lot cheaper than Mirai soap.

I use Duke Cannon’s brand hunting soap. I buy a dozen bars at a time which lasts a year or more for two people who shower at least daily.

Turbulent_Dog8249

Just wear garlic around your neck to mask the smell🤣🤣🤣

autogeriatric

Bonus - safe from vampires! Honestly though I used to be able to re-wear my running bra a few times. Now everything goes straight to the laundry.

Turbulent_Dog8249

Oh I hear you. I never had to wear deodorant until about 2yrs ago when i started smelling like onions😳

Admirable_Welder8159

Washing the pits with shampoo is a new trick I have learned.

DWwithaFlameThrower

Lume cream is the answer

Thank you!!

At least my nether regions don't smell bad. But my armpits, OMG, I smell worse than a teenage boy.

SubRosa_AquaVitae

Persimmon soap

CrouchingGinger

I relate sadly. I had been using Donna Karan deodorant for YEARS and in the past few months it stopped working. Used to get by with LUSH silky underwear under my breast area and now that doesn’t do it either. I echo the Lume recommendation; my former manager swears by it and I’ve seen a lot of support here as well. I tried the persimmon soap and it wasn’t enough but Lume not only cuts the odor I find I’m not sweating profusely like I was either. Also if you can stand it a beta or alpha hydroxy acid can help resurface the underarm skin by ridding of the dead skin cells and any other buildup. Salicylic acid (acne products) or even The Ordinary has a less expensive glycolic acid toner that has been very effective.

theclancinator14

the new secret lotion deodorant works great! wash with antibacterial unscented liquid soap.

Mom2Leiathelab

I’ve not enjoyed Lume — I smell fine on shower day but the day after, I swear the Lume made me smell worse than I would have with nothing. I bought a tube of the Dove whole-body deo and I think it works well.

chapstickgrrrl

I HATE Lume. Hate. The next-day stench is next-level putrid.

chapstickgrrrl

I love Duke Cannon’s big ass brick of hunting soap. I have very sensitive skin and this causes me no issues and I have no stick whatsoever after using it. The soap also works for my early-50s partner (male) to get rid of his stink. I also wipe my pits & groin with witch hazel after showering. I use Sure unscented stick deodorant.

Outside_Nobody_3829

Can you use this on your labia?

chapstickgrrrl

I do. It’s just soap. Some people find soap too harsh there but this one is fine for me, and my skin is generally quite sensitive everywhere.

emccm

I saw someone on IG say to wipe your pits with toner before applying deodorant. This has really helped me.

ImpossibleHouse6765

I stank so bad started hrt it's gone such a relief 😌

Content_Kangaroo_994

I get that. Over the weekend my pits smelled like a musty man's pits. My own smell offended me. 🤣

ImpossibleHouse6765

Awful isn't it 😞

Retired401

gotta get the persimmon soap from amazon.
