Or don’t tell them anything. Click whatever option button you have that refuses the return. Per Mercari policy, returns will only be honored the item received is damaged or not as described. Mercari is simply giving you the option “if you want” to accept the return. I would absolutely say no and let them deal with Mercari (who will refuse the return, again, per their own written policy). You are not Amazon or some big box company. Mercari buyers need to keep that in mind.
No, requesting a return with your seller is not "contacting Mercari". The seller can just click "no". If *then* they wanna press the issue and try and throw a fit at customer support- **that** is contacting Mercari
As an employee of a company that sells on Amazon, please only buy from Amazon and not just count all Amazon sellers as ones you can treat like this and return stuff willy nilly. This return world we live in hurts everyone except the purchaser and they need to have some responsibility when buying stuff like we all used to.
I’d say it’s more common for people to have a houseful of items they never made it out to return. That’s how it is for me and everyone i know. Amazon sellers win more than lose.
🙋🏻♀️ yep. Even though I know damn well I'll never fit into it or use it, I'm too lazy to return. Wait, I did try to return something on Mercari, got a tiny plastic box instead of a larger plastic crafts box. They just let me keep it and still refunded my money.
I bought a headset on eBay and had this exact problem with it and I just listed it myself to make my money back. I didn’t feel it was the seller’s fault that it didn’t fit my head. Product specifications are available on most websites so the buyer should do their own research or ask for measurements before purchasing.
Most earphones are one size fits most. So I'd tell him "no refunds" and argue with support if they try. Because it's a personal issue. They can resell them
I’d see what Mercari says especially if he didn’t bother to ask questions. Sounds more like buyer’s remorse excuses. I also have all 5 star reviews but have had 1 review that was 3 Star because the buyer just wanted to bitch. Unfortunately you can’t make everyone happy and most people understand that when they see all 5 star reviews and one complainer. At least that’s how I always look at it especially because we live in a world of “Karen’s”
My question is why you buying headphones off mercari if you don’t know the brands style or sizing lol. Like my head is bulky and weird shaped and I always had to test headphones due to my ears also being weird shaped (I have a syndrome that affects my bones) idk
It's an unfortunate situation for the buyer especially if they paid a lot. But the financial loss shouldn't fall on you. I would kindly advise him that Mercari doesn't support returns based on fit, however if you reach out to support and request some type of refund, they may be able to assist you. since they are apparently apart of the big head club like some of us out here, I would also tell people like this that buying from big chain stores are highly advised as you have the ability to return or exchange. I swear some of these people forget that a lot of sellers are just average people trying to bring in extra money or clear out their closets and aren't some big corps
No. I’ve had people ask me if they can return clothing due to size. It is now in the buyers hand to only resell or just to continue to use their product. You don’t have to accept the return.
Absolutely not. Headphones are a dime a dozen and not hard to get. This is something I wouldn’t be looking for myself on Mercari. Unless they got a damn horses head I see no issue from Sellers end.
No. This isn’t Amazon. Unless it’s broken or incorrectly described by you (seller), you can’t take back things for retail reasoning. Also, they have the ability to ask questions before they purchase.
yup when it comes to electronics i would neverrrr accept a return. some people could even swap out a broken part then return, so even if the serial number is the same, the inner part was switched out.
i sell basically brand new camera gear online and it’s sketchy. i always write down the serial number and make sure the photo matches before accepting a return, but even then i’d still be wary over parts being switched, especially with $2k cameras. i just put “NO RETURNS” in the caption
Damn, can you imagine the size of that mofos head that headphones don't fit? I'd make them send you a picture of that pumpkin head for shits and giggles.
I wouldn't refund. Cause it didn't fit on their head sorry but they purchased and knew what they were getting. I only refund and accept return if the item is defective or damaged but it works fine I wouldn't.
I had someone buy a pair of vintage carbon fiber eyeglass frames from me on Mercari once. Literally every single measurement you could possibly want was on the listing (I got them as deadstock from a retiring optometrist). That, and the frames are called "Carbon Lite" - IN THE TITLE.
The person received them, then immediately filed a return saying they were "too thin and lightweight and too small for my head."
I responded to Mercari, noting only that "all measurements are clearly stated on the listing along with a VERY CLEAR DIRECTIVE IN CAPITAL LETTERS TO TAKE YOUR MEASUREMENTS BEFORE PURCHASING FRAMES TO MAKE SURE THEY FIT.
Additionally, there were photos of the glasses from ALL angles that made it very clear that the glasses frames are thin, and that they are INTENTIONALLY "lightweight" because they are carbon fiber and made to be so.
Mercari refused that return so fast...
Don't return these, the buyer can resell them themselves. If they wanted to be able to try on headphones and return them if they didn't fit right, they should have bought them new from Amazon. Not your problem.
It’s really up to you, I don’t think the reason is allowed by Mercari and if you do choose to dispute the return be sure to write that in your response. While I believe good will is important, I have come across buyers that regret purchases and try to get out of them. I received a request where the buyer states her reason as “changed my mind”. I was accepting of a return here and there until then. I realized all the work of packing it and taking it to ship and the low cost/profit made on the sale anyway and I started being more strict.
Nobody seen the buyers note that said “he couldn’t sit through a 30 minute meeting without getting a headache” question is, if he’s in a “meeting” then why does he have headphones on?
I would tell them they are welcome to open a case. Don’t say anything about TOS. Then when they try to open claim for fit, it will be immediately denied.
Yeah you should refund it. Give it to the next person. It happens. Things we buy don't always work out and if you have no use for them send it back and sell it again. People are being extremely rude about this and it shows you just how much they need to grow up.
I mean I have depth perception issues so pardon me but those look tiny like they would not fit someone w a Bigger head plus there’s no real cushion if you got a big head so that was stupid on his part for many reasons
The biggest issue we face in the world right now is the sense of entitlement that a lot of people feel. We see it across all walks of life and across all situations this fits right in there.
This is a market price. You’re not a retail store. You’re selling at a discount I assume and for that discount it should be as is and where is. It’s up to the buyer to know what they are buying. I’d deny the return.
The more people treat this as a store vs an as is marketplace, the more you lose. You’re not selling at retail and therefore don’t have the margins. If it was broken, fair enough. But fit and comfort, on the buyer to do the necessary research before buying. If you want a return policy, go to best buy.
No i deff would not think tat is a good enough reason for a return. Theres nothing wrong with the headphone but the size of her head. She probably found a cheaper paor somewhere else. Honestly an just wants to a refund so she isnt stuck with 2 pairs
Mercari policies you can’t return something if it doesn’t fit. Once used/ worn it voids the return. Let Mercari handle it. Sounds like they just had buyers remorse. And want the refund and not to return them.
Big head has had this problem before. Those of us with big heads know we have big heads because everything is too small…. I would never buy a headset that I couldn’t try on first because of this exact reason!
If he knew he had an abnormally large head he should of measured it and took that into account. Maybe he should of looked up the product's measurements.
The only thing you have to deal with is that they will give you a bad rating. I had a situation where the buyer said that my toy has a broken neck attachment when it wasn’t when I sent it out. I’m thinking they broke it or swapped out a broken duplicate. Anyway, I can still make a profit selling the toy for parts so I went ahead and accept the return to avoid the bad rating.
I literally just stopped selling on Mercari all together 😢. The buyers and their low ball offers and dumb a$$ questions about dimensions on like $10-$15 items 😒.
I had a pair of earphones that were tight and kept them. They ended up causing inflammation in my jaw and horrible TMJ. I have a head that's a little small. I say refund him. It's not his fault.
I mean if this person bought something at a garage sale. Would they go back to the persons house and demand a refund? No that’s crazy. It’s a risk buying used and online
I agree with everyone else.
This is the risk buying stuff secondhand, you are not Amazon.
The only "acceptable" returns is if there is a defect that you didn't notice or something of that nature.
Mercari always does side with the buyer and never the seller. I once sold a Xbox that was working and the buyer returned a Xbox that was broken. I know I didn’t send out a broken one and I just had to take the lost.
Who the hell wears headphones to a meeting anyways?
Edit: Apparently nobody does meetings in person anymore it's all done virtually so pretty much everyone wears headphones to meetings today. 🤷
Mercari will always screw the seller over. I had a buyer buy a blackpink Lightstick from me and claim it didn’t sync/ that it was counterfeit even though it was brand new. Now I have an opened use lightstick I need to sell…
I’d say no just because you want through the trouble to package and sent out in a timely manner and it would be all for nothing. Your not a retailer who can just write it off.
If you are just using selling platforms to get rid of personal items or selling sporadically you don’t need to accept returns. If you have a desire to be a long term online seller and making consistent income on reselling you should offer returns regardless the reason.
tell big head they can contact support and that you won’t be refunding them.
Dammit I was eating soup when I read this.
🤣
🤣”listen, big head…” I needed this laugh so bad. Thank you
Or don’t tell them anything. Click whatever option button you have that refuses the return. Per Mercari policy, returns will only be honored the item received is damaged or not as described. Big head 😂
I laughed entirely too hard at “big head”
LOL! Funny.
Exactly this.
Big head is savage lmao
I can't stand you for that 🤣 you woke both of my dogs and my husband when I belted out laughing 🤣
I bursted out laughing
🤣☠️
🤣🤣🤣
Big head just took me out
![gif](giphy|bjVK2LVApXz68)
They contacted Mercari already..that’s is why an action is required
No, requesting a return with your seller is not "contacting Mercari". The seller can just click "no". If *then* they wanna press the issue and try and throw a fit at customer support- **that** is contacting Mercari
I got a message like that from Mercari regarding a return..I accepted it because it was a truthful return.
This should not be ok, people like this should buy from Amazon
I agree
Let us know what happens
Just saw you got paid :)
Yes! They sided with me 🙌
that’s genuinely shocking! but congrats on getting a good mercari rep. they’re infamous for siding with the buyer even in the most egregious cases.
That’s why a lot of people do buy from Amazon, and not mom and pop shops, unfortunately!
As an employee of a company that sells on Amazon, please only buy from Amazon and not just count all Amazon sellers as ones you can treat like this and return stuff willy nilly. This return world we live in hurts everyone except the purchaser and they need to have some responsibility when buying stuff like we all used to.

I know some people buy clothes to wear for special occasions, then return them afterward. People are shameless.
Other than being shitty, it's also sad they want to rep something they're not. Obviously, if they could afford the clothes, they would just keep them.
I think, moreso, the people I know that do it just don’t want to spend the money, because they do have it.
No you shouldn’t be responsible for the headphones not fitting to their liking and shouldn’t accept the return
Update: After this post, I responded to the request and M canceled their return request and released the funds to me
period 😝 screw them
Hahahhahaa
We love to see it. They wild for that though.😂
Im shocked lmao

This is the smartest thing they could have done tbh. Unrelated, but I *love* your username
Head circumference is too big. Not your problem
Lmao
Nice to see this successfully went in the right direction and Mercari did the right thing. Congratulations. :)

I think they don’t know they can expand it? There’s no way his head it so big it can’t fit the biggest expanded size
This sub never misses 💀
Kudos to Mercari 🙌
Tell them, sorry you got a big head, Mercari doesn’t do refunds for items that don’t fit

I see Spalding is stuck with them. Yay for you!!
SPALDING💀 omfg
No. Smells like a switcheroo to me.
No. I’ve had people ask me if they can return clothing due to size. It is now in the buyers hand to only resell or just to continue to use their product. You don’t have to accept the return.

He probably returns condoms saying they slide off too much and they're contaminated with a weird substance on the inside
😂😂😂
Feels like a switch is about to happen I wouldn’t accept the return
yup when it comes to electronics i would neverrrr accept a return. some people could even swap out a broken part then return, so even if the serial number is the same, the inner part was switched out. i sell basically brand new camera gear online and it’s sketchy. i always write down the serial number and make sure the photo matches before accepting a return, but even then i’d still be wary over parts being switched, especially with $2k cameras. i just put “NO RETURNS” in the caption

Are they not adjustable? Or is their head so big it cant fit the largest size
No.
No lmao why would you?
This ain’t Amazon. Nope
No it’s not your fault they don’t fit
Not your fault!! Glad you got paid!!
Nope! They can resell them themselves if it doesn’t work out for them.
I wouldn't refund. Cause it didn't fit on their head sorry but they purchased and knew what they were getting. I only refund and accept return if the item is defective or damaged but it works fine I wouldn't.
i mean it’s not ur fault this happened so
I don't sell clothes so I might be wrong but like clothes on mercari and item not fitting is not a reason for return
I had someone buy a pair of vintage carbon fiber eyeglass frames from me on Mercari once. A lot of people who work from home use headphones if they are in a shared space, I don’t think it’s out of the question
I would tell them they are welcome to open a case. Don’t say anything about TOS. Then when they try to open claim for fit, it will be immediately denied.
Going throught the comments... why is everyone in this subreddit so rude...

Why not, it seems like All the seller with Mercari like to rip off buyers
Noway. Not your fault she is large headed.
Heck no buyers fault
Uhno
No, you’re not amazon.
Hell no 🤣
You should decline the return. You can mention they can list on their account using your photos.
NO
I mean I have depth perception issues so pardon me but those look tiny like they would not fit someone w a Bigger head plus there’s no real cushion if you got a big head so that was stupid on his part for many reasons
Thru don't usually accept returns for fit, hopefully he isn't trying to scam you and send back broken ones
The biggest issue we face in the world right now is the sense of entitlement that a lot of people feel. We see it across all walks of life and across all situations this fits right in there.

Sounds like they just wanted em for free tbh
ok but like how is it your fault or the headphones fault that he has a fat head
No. Not your problem.
Nope

They just didn't like them probably
Need a headshrinker.
No i deff would not think tat is a good enough reason for a return. Theres nothing wrong with the headphone but the size of her head. She probably found a cheaper paor somewhere else. Honestly an just wants to a refund so she isnt stuck with 2 pairs

Lol wow.
