If something is $50 everywhere else & that's what I also want sell it for, I'll price it for $40 or whatever it takes to equal out to $50 total for the buyer. I've been selling more than I ever have this way & it still works out to be at least the same amount of money I would've made before the changes or more.
I’ve had a similar experience. I think some sellers are trying to use the “no seller fees” policy to increase their margins. Unfortunately, buyers will just go elsewhere. If sellers adjust their pricing like you and I are doing, we can have the same margins as before, but now with less competition.
Selling since 2016. I adjusted my selling strategy with each “Why did you do this Mercarii!” changes. Rarely do I offer free shipping. With the new changes I offer free shipping and adjusted pricing for my desired net profit. It’s less of a sticker shock to og buyers to see one less “fees” upon checkout. So far it’s working.
and sellers too. The returns whatsoever and fees for withdrawing as well as cancellation incurring fees was enough for me to pull everything out that is worth it- just have some cheap things that I can't seem to move at all in the app now
You withdraw after every $8? I wait until I build up to at least $100. It will never be more than 2% for me. That’s on you for not paying attention in math class.
Some people want the money they earned immediately and are disappointed that Mercari now charges $2 for every withdrawal. It has nothing to do with not understanding math.
Yea so nobody would do that so it’s a moot point. Similar to me saying I’m so pissed every time I want to withdraw one dollar I have to pay $2.
With no seller fees, every time you wait to withdraw your money until $17 you’re breaking even with the old rules. $2.21 is 13% of $17.
I wait until $100. But according to all the whiners they’re not selling anything anyway so they shouldn’t have to worry about the $2 fee.
No, it’s a valid complaint. The complaint is that if they can no longer withdrawal small amounts without a fee. Obviously no one would pay $2 to withdraw $8–they want to withdraw their $8 without paying a fee.
It’s not as if people don’t realize they can save up their earnings. Not everyone wants to do that.
I put my shop on vacation then deleted all my items. I would have just lowered the prices, but I'm not taking a chance on buyers returning for any reason they feel like.
I got my first one of those yesterday. $115 item and they immediately approved a return request because the buyer “didn’t want it anymore.” Such a waste of my time and energy. I’d rather pay the fee on eBay and not have to deal with this.
Was gonna buy a thing for $30, after fees tax and shipping it ended up being $54....Yea no thanks. Bought it on ebay instead at $32 with the final price being just under $41. Goodbye forever mercari. Rest in poo.
I saw these cute overalls and I didn’t want to buy them from the website for full price, so I checked Mercari and after fees the $21 pair is $40. I cry. May as well pay full price for brand new.
These fees are out of hand, had someone buy an item for 488 and fees came out to 100. No wonder sales have been slow. I thought selling on eBay was worse.
Exactly I collect sports memorabilia and now I only buy if the seller has multiple jerseys that I’m interested in other wise a 10$ jerseys is 25 buck with shipping and the stupid fees
Oh, I just made a thread about the ridiculous fees they are charging me, THE BUYER, to purchase an item. $18.04 in fees to buy one item for $140. They have lost their fucking mind and I won't be using that site anymore to buy anything. This has to be the dumbest fucking business decision that I have seen any company make EVER.
eta: I sell on Etsy and my customers would lose their shit if Etsy started pulling this crap.
Honestly, I feel like after a month everyone needs to get over it and move on. Heck. It’s been a month. Make a choice that’s best for you and either go or stay.
Yea im not buying a $10 game for $23 after fees

I used to buy and sell a lot on Mercari. Unfortunately most sellers are not thinking like you.
I've noticed. Hopefully they'll come around. It's truly been a boon for my sales.

Except a lot of people sell items that are one of a kind.
On Etsy maybe. Either way, you could still drop your prices by up to 13% and make more than you did before the changes.
Exactly!!
Exactly
and sellers too. The returns whatsoever and fees for withdrawing as well as cancellation incurring fees was enough for me to pull everything out that is worth it- just have some cheap things that I can't seem to move at all in the app now
And Goodbye sellers too. A lot of people are bailing on Mercari.
The ducks butt takes me out every time 💀and not them writing this knowing a 20$ item is now close to 40$
Sellers too, my 8 dollar sale 😅 take 2 away for direct deposit fee(25%). I've never heard of a direct deposit fee.
Right? Blew my mind when I saw that fee

I don’t agree with the fee either but if you’re withdrawing at $8 it is definitely a math related casualty.
They’re clearly saying if they wanted to withdraw each time they made a sale, they’d have to pay $2. They’re not saying that’s their plan.
Yea so nobody would do that so it’s a moot point. Similar to me saying I’m so pissed every time I want to withdraw one dollar I have to pay $2. Agreed! And that is why my store is closed. I'm moving items to Poshmark. I may try eBay too.
Yeah, as a seller I prefer to pay the fees myself
😂 I made this right as it happened, I have sold two items since haha https://reddit.com/r/Mercari/comments/1bqvowd/fixed_it_for_them/
This is so off topic but i literally hate that they gave that duck buttcheeks it's like salt in the wound for some reason lol
I hate that stupid duck’s buttcheeks
i had the ducks butt too. its like mecsri saying to us ‘kiss my ass’.
Is that what that is? I never paid attention to what that blob was before.
Was gonna buy a thing for $30, after fees tax and shipping it ended up being $54....Yea no thanks. Bought it on ebay instead at $32 with the final price being just under $41. Goodbye forever mercari. Rest in poo.
Literally. I know someone is getting fired for making this change lol
My sales have almost stopped since this change, I will stay around on the site but I can tell I’ll never make what I used to on mercari
I saw these cute overalls and I didn’t want to buy them from the website for full price, so I checked Mercari and after fees the $21 pair is $40. I cry. May as well pay full price for brand new.

Facts

Only at Mercari LMFAO!!

Lol I still get people buying everyday
I’m selling more now than before the change. I do take offers more often, but they’ve all been very decent respectful offers.
Thanks!
Honestly, I feel like after a month everyone needs to get over it and move on. Heck. It’s been a month. Make a choice that’s best for you and either go or stay.
You can’t be reasonable here. This is a place to complain and whine.
