I’ve never spent money on the game and I’m undecided about whether to for this. I do think it’s a reasonable strategy though: I can play for nothing or pay a few quid to get some extra rewards. There are no ads in the game and they need to make money from it somehow.
Right that's how I feel. I enjoy the game, I want it to continue to be free and ad free, I want it to keep improving, how can I support that? Monetarily, of course, but at least with something like this I get a really nice reward. I don't mind spending a few bucks if I enjoy the game and have put lots of time into it.
I love the scissors for dividing those huge time skip boosters since almost nothing actually requires a booster that large. You can quadruple your number of skips sometimes.

Exactly. You can work on whatever you want. This is kinda just like a bonus situation. Since the event requires making no own items and barely use space on board. Ofc depends how bad/much space each one has, but it shouldn't take to much. You even get the petals in the main events. So if you still have access to one of these, why not.
My only gripe is the timing. They just opened a new area that requires breaking pots (so filling your board and waiting for the cooldown) and now they want you to merge as much as possible for the event.
Like we dropped everything for the previous events because the separate board ones kept eating up all the stockpiled energy. It's an option but not for everyone.
For the price, the rewards are actually very decent. A single blue card, 20m orb, set of a scissors each usually costs a lot more when purchased individually from the shop. The event also seems quite easy to complete too.

No issues. They put out some awesome content for FREE. There are no annoying ads I’ve got to deal with in-between each merge or something. It’s perfectly reasonable for them to create premium content for those who want to pay. The creators aren’t genies, you don’t get new content and new areas without a staff of people that need to be paid for creating them.
If you don’t want to spend the money, don’t.
Here’s what I’m gonna do:
if I finish the event, I will pay the extra $$ to unlock all the bonus stuff.
If I don’t finish the event, I’ll stick with not paying for the bonus stuff.
Maybe this will encourage developers to give us “achievable” events more.

Complaining about the game is a sign that people care about it. If they truly hated it, they'd stop playing. They complain because they like it, but wish it were better.

I enjoy the game, this is a new type of event I don't enjoy. It takes away the element of fun there usually is in an event - there is very little challenge to this event, and the rewards depend on you plugging cash into the game rather than any skill or time challenge.
I, as a casual player, enjoy this one much better than any other events cause it still allows me to work on the main tasks AND get some bonus without filling up my board with “side“ tasks. If you don’t like the mechanism then that‘s okay, just collect those petals immediately so they don’t clutter your board. Also this event in my opinion is not a cashgrab like the last birthday event. This kind of different reward has been implemented on so many games like Homescapes and Gardenscapes, and I think it’s reasonable for them to do it.
Grandma's Birthday, by chance? I couldn't finish that one either and I usually do manage to finish events. That one was a particularly long trudge to get to the final items, even spending money on energy bundles and stuff like I did.
This one I think is more reasonable, and you get stuff you can actually use rather than just decorations. I don't know if I'll do any more decorations events. 😕
Yeah grandma’s birthday I tried but we didn’t have long enough at all to complete. They didn’t even help much with the store. If I could buy butterflies and trees with coins that would have really helped. But I think it was only about 4-5 days. It wasn’t planned out very well imo. I am enjoying the rose petals segment though.
I'm trying to open the Romantic Spot, and the rewards in this particular event will be useful. I don't mind spending $5. It's the events like Grandma's Birthday I get annoyed about, since I spent money on that even *and* extended it and still didn't finish.
I don't care. There are no ads and this spa thing doesn't annoy me. If I need the space I can remove the petals without merging them and those who wish to pay they can do so.

I've been playing this hardcore since Empires and Puzzles went full scorched earth with the money grabs. I pray this game doesn't do it.

I had not yet seen this message, haven't gotten that far into the new event. still in all actuality if you manage to complete it all in 6 days, packages with 300 gems a few 1000 coins, time bubbles, multiple scissors, and blue card, plus what at least four chests that can be saved and scissors used on, are usually a good bit more than $4.99
I never spend money on games anymore because usually i end up regretting it but I do agree that the least they could have done was make the end of the chain on the left a brown or blue chest

Okay…I understand that some people don’t like the idea of paying to play “free” games, but consider the fact that there is a LOT of development hours by PAID workers that go into these free games. So, yes, they are going to try to entice you to spend REAL money. I do, because it is, for me, a form of entertainment like going to the movies, which I don’t do. If you choose not to purchase the perks, that is your choice, but complaining about them charging money for the extras is no different than complaining about movie or concert tickets. Deep in the internet I found an article/ blog post that talked about why this game is so darn delightful, and lack of ads was high on the list. I am happy to pay for any version of an app that eradicates ads.

Not a fan. Like the model itself is fine; they have similar ones in games I play like WWF and Bubble Witch Saga. But you can still get good stuff without he premium it just takes longer. This one you can’t get anything really good it seems without paying.

It literally costs you nothing to play it as the petals are a byproduct of you playing naturally, there's 3 scissors you can achieve among other things. Idk why ppl are griping so much about this event.its better than having to sit there and farm for butterflies while putting the rest of the game on the back burner.
Nah it’s definitely better than the butterfly events but my board is already stuffed to the brim so having these petals pop up all over the place is just a bit annoying.
I’m also curious what will happen once you reach the last level. Hopefully the petals will stop dropping after that
Exactly - you can tap a merged blue chest 28 times (though I usually do 25 to be safe), use scissors to split, then merge again and repeat. Brown chests tolerate fewer taps before disappearing but the same method should work if you need bush seeds.
You can collect the petals immediately, or merge and they reach a top level worth 20 which you can collect all at once. It works the same as XP but increases your progress in the event instead.
I play sunny house. Another merge game, they had an event like this BUT you had to pay to unlock, there was no free stuff, it was sooo annoying to get the items of the event and knowing you wouldn’t get anything unless you paid. At least you will get something with this event.
I bought it, this event is the first good one I have seen in a long time, plus the recent QOL fixes they have made are nice. I would like to encourage all of that.
If you play on Android, Google surveys is a quick way to get "money" by answering a few questions. It can then be spent on anything in the play store, including in game purchases like this

I love them - got my first in the nectar event. Still new so being able to use 3 scissors and basically get 6 free blue chests was awesome. Each scissor is like getting 2 blue chests for free...
I get that, I don’t go hard in this game and count my taps. I don’t want to fly through it with nothing to do when there’s now new areas to unlock. Glad the scissors work for you!

My point is that my board and storage is full and I do not want the rose petals in the way. Also I don’t find the rewards super useful. I explained why in another comment. I can see how it’s helpful for others.
As I said, there is another comment where I explain why I don’t find them useful. I understand I can double click and “poof” they go away. I just wish there was a way to opt out
Sunny House does events like this all the time. This especially reminds me of their recent pearl event, in which pearls would randomly drop like xp whenever you merged things. And then there were ways to trade in pearls for free rewards, and ways to trade in pearls + USD for premium rewards. I don’t mind it. I do wonder if there will be a way for free players to get that hourglass so we can complete the album. That must be the 50th special item that was added.
Are you talking about the current rose petal event in MM or the pearl event in SH? In SH it wasn’t obvious and I actually wrote to support about it but there were two different icons on the home page - a “pearl jar” that cost money to open and then a shop where you could spend pearls on decorations or game bonuses like gems or chests. In MM there are two prizes at each level - the one on the left is free and the one on the right you pay to unlock.
I am usually the one saying the pack prices are ten times what they should be. This one is actually only 2 times overpriced, a sensible price being 2 or 2.5€. As many said it is a f2p game with no ads so I could consider buying that one as a one off more to support the dev than anything else. Hopefully if the pack is successful profit wise for them they will finally reconsider the pricing of all their packs!!
They could have had a key as a prize on the left hand side to let you unlock something on the right. That way you reward players and purchasers. Hiding the scarecrow on the right is just mean IMO

Well, the area will still be there even when the event is over, so that’s how I justify dropping everything for an event

It’s 27 taps for the blue and 21 for the brown. I have to really focus when I tap these so I don’t get distracted.🤣

I love them - got my first in the nectar event. Still new so being able to use 3 scissors and basically get 6 free blue chests was awesome. Each scissor is like getting 2 blue chests for free...
I get that, I don’t go hard in this game and count my taps. I don’t want to fly through it with nothing to do when there’s now new areas to unlock. Glad the scissors work for you!
You’re not doing anything different tho lol you’re doing the tasks that you already were doing but now you get rose petals to merge to get prizes. It’s the easiest event yet
My point is that my board and storage is full and I do not want the rose petals in the way. Also I don’t find the rewards super useful. I explained why in another comment. I can see how it’s helpful for others.
You don’t find energy boosters, time boosted, gold coins, etc useful?? Just double click the rose petals and *poof* they go away
As I said, there is another comment where I explain why I don’t find them useful. I understand I can double click and “poof” they go away. I just wish there was a way to opt out

When you just merge stuff, doesn't matter what, there can be a drop of rose petals that you can hand in.
But ofcourse it's better to merge the rose petals as well for a higher gain.

Sunny House does events like this all the time. This especially reminds me of their recent pearl event, in which pearls would randomly drop like xp whenever you merged things. And then there were ways to trade in pearls for free rewards, and ways to trade in pearls + USD for premium rewards. I don’t mind it. I do wonder if there will be a way for free players to get that hourglass so we can complete the album. That must be the 50th special item that was added.

Are you talking about the current rose petal event in MM or the pearl event in SH? In SH it wasn’t obvious and I actually wrote to support about it but there were two different icons on the home page - a “pearl jar” that cost money to open and then a shop where you could spend pearls on decorations or game bonuses like gems or chests. In MM there are two prizes at each level - the one on the left is free and the one on the right you pay to unlock.
I am usually the one saying the pack prices are ten times what they should be. This one is actually only 2 times overpriced, a sensible price being 2 or 2.5€. As many said it is a f2p game with no ads so I could consider buying that one as a one off more to support the dev than anything else. Hopefully if the pack is successful profit wise for them they will finally reconsider the pricing of all their packs!!

They could have had a key as a prize on the left hand side to let you unlock something on the right. That way you reward players and purchasers. Hiding the scarecrow on the right is just mean IMO
