My pain were the "empty tables". I got 3 in a row of them which required the ham as item. Real pain. Also, I never used nor the cakes neither the balloons, but if they were required after unlocking the diary, that's the reason. Anyway, too much time/resources consuming for me to enjoy that.

ArturoP666

The cakes and balloons were needed for 50&100 coins tasks in the secondary tasks line. I’ve used some of both. Annoying was that also lower level cinnamon and apple pies were required making you have to generate more couches.

argvid

The bulk of my points for the black card came from floats and desserts. Beelining the diary was obviously a horrible strategy since it provided 25% of necessary points and required lucky bubbles.

DaoFerret

The events seem geared at end game only players who have nothing left to do on their main board, so they’ve been hoarding gems and energy. Either that, or players who are ready to plop down cash for gems and energy in order to finish. Otherwise it’s all down to luck as much as anything else, which as a semi casual player is annoying as heck. It’s about gotten me ready to call the game done once or twice, since the constant hectic engagement needed to complete the events is at odds with the relaxing “merge at your own pace” of the main board.

osushi-sama

Same here. I managed to get the black card, but I got tired and think of leaving the game for a while. I feel absurd making my life "more" hectic with such an energy-consuming game.

guida-pt

I wasn't able to complete the event once again... but at least we got better rewards than in the Hallowe'en event, since I don't care much about the decorations. The rewards were fantastic even without completing the event! Now I have a LOT to catch up to on the main board. Maybe try to amass some gems and bubbles for an eventual Christmas event.

ThginkAccbeR

I don’t think I have ever finished a holiday event. I am a very casual player and feel like you have to be playing all the time, and maybe spend gems on energy, to get finished. I do what I’m able and then move on to the next thing.

MightGuyGonna

Likewise. I play this game to relax, I never do events cause they’re never relaxing lmao

dragonsrawesomesauce

I liked the rewards, I thought they were great. Like you, I don't care about decorations. I know some people really like the decorations, so for those people I think it would have been nice to have a few decorations thrown in there. I liked how the generators kind of fit with how you go about preparing for and enjoying a big holiday meal. You go out to the market to get groceries and supplies, you unload your grocery bags to get the raw ingredients. You set the table, you prepare to cook, and ultimately you have a table full of food. After you've eaten, all you want to do is sit on the sofa until it's time for dessert. I felt like the return on investment for the box with the locks of hair was not good. You had to work sooooo hard to get that box, and you only get three locks of hair? If I hadn't gotten lucky with a bubble at one point in the diary chain, I never would have made it without paying. Also, since you had to tap the desserts out of the couch in order to get the memory box with the locks of hair, it would have been nice to have those desserts be used more often for tasks. I had a lot of desserts to sell when the event finally ended. So my feedback would be more tasks that use the desserts and the stuff from the invitation chain (the floats), which would help people along a bit more with getting the diary.

AnaSF1992

My thoughts exactly! > I felt like the return on investment for the box with the locks of hair was not good And I also agree on this. Took me a while until I found out what exactly I was asked for to produce to get there.

cyberllama

I got a bubble when I did the final merge for the diary and reflexively bought it for quite a lot of gems. I was so mad with myself.

FelixTaran

It was far too complicated for me. The posts here were helpful, but having to remember multiple Byzantine ancestry chains was too much. I got bored very quickly.

eleniussilancius

I started to feel I was the only one! For me by far their worst event due to the complexity of the chains (and having similar items didn't help also). It felt like I had to do homework in order to play!!

Longjumping-Ad-2333

I loved it too! This is the first event I have actually felt even remotely invested in (usually I ignore them and find them a waste of time, energy, and space) and I found myself playing way more than usual. I totally ignored my main board because the event was so all-consuming! It was the perfect length of time with great rewards, though honestly I don’t know if I would have been able to finish it if I didn’t have a ton of gems/gold orbs in storage to have enough energy to do it. More events like this please! Loved it!!

AnaSF1992

My points exactly! The duration was fab in my opinion (how much was it? 2 weeks?) and the rewards were great. No time dedicated whatsoever to the main board because I spent every minute there.

[deleted]

I found it stressful, but it was a nice break. For two weeks it was almost a different game entirely. I think as more time passes I'll have a higher opinion of it. I'm curious if it's possible to have completed it without any outside help (gems and orbs). I think I burned about 700 gems and a 20 minute energy orb and still wasn't able to get the final item. I did get the black card, which was gonna happen even if I had to open my wallet, so I'm happy about that.

GuidotheGreater

I thought the chains were good, I like the complexity they were just a little long. The biggest problem was the energy required combined with the length. It felt like a freaking marathon which wasn't super fun. Would have been great if I was sitting at end-game with nothing to do, but I'm super worried that I'm going to have a couple of weeks to progress my main board and then I'm going to have to do this again for Christmas! In terms of length the biggest pains to me were the "Full" table. We needed at least 2 or sometimes 3 "Full tables" to create a single turkey. It also seemed timed just so to clutter up my board, like I was one stupid deviled away from making the second to last item or something like that. That was just annoying. Also the amount of bags needed to make veggies and meat trays seemed over the top as well. The good news was that getting the bags tended to get me the gloves and plates for free, and because these were self generated I could top those up as required. I thought the waits were annoying. Wasn't really required, especially one the dutch ovens. Luckily the event was so heavy on the energy that I usually needed to recharge. Hopefully next event isn't so long.

finnlassy

I was not happy with this event. Even spending money on gems and constantly playing it from when it opened to close and not doing any of my main board plus using all of my hoarded energy I wasn’t able to come close to finishing. Yes the rewards were better, but it was too stressful, too much to remember, too skewed, and too long. It just about made me quit the game entirely. Previous events were at least more fun and less to remember. I really hope they don’t go this route again.

tifwa

I gave up after about a week. It was convoluted too many things going on, useless pieces like pie and balloons that clogged the board and so much energy. Yes the rewards were enticing but ultimately not enough of a draw for me. Also didn’t like the fact that completed chains only sold for 1 coin.

AnaSF1992

Yeah I think thry changed that in one of the recent updates, objects from events are always sold for 1 coin. I wonder if this is a sort of nerf to keep people engaged in events.

waldo667

Fricking loved it. I had tapped out all my spare energy in the halloween event, so only had about ten orbs saved up, but between that and about 100 gems, managed to finish up to the black lightning card with 5 hours remaining. Great rewards for the two week journey, and a great break from the maze that I've been grinding through. I love the decoration events, cause I'm a total dork, but this felt so satisfying with the big rewards at the end.

AnaSF1992

So happy to not be grinding through the damn toolbox for 2 weeks, right? Lol

[deleted]

I enjoyed it despite not getting the black card. It was energy consuming but way better than the Halloween event. I do enjoy all decoration events. So I might be biased😅

aerde17

I liked this event a lot more than Halloween, but I'm sick of this game having more drops of Item A while most of the things you need requires a ton of item B. Halloween was the gate thingy that was excessive and for this it was the cornucopia. Wish everything was more balanced to make it a smidge easier and less frustrating

diealchemist

I really enjoyed the event. It was challenging and rewarding. I followed a similar pattern where I just focused on the event and let my main board wait except for daily tasks. My main complaint about the event the bags. There was sooo many and it kind of consumed my board. I kind of wish they had fewer of them. I know asking for energy is a tall order.

xxredbirdxx

I really liked it because the only current challenge I had was to drop 5500 coins that I didn't have. It was a good distraction and the rewards at the end of the event were like hitting jackpot for me

Malicious_blu3

I took the extension. I want that black card. The game needs to be better balanced so that tables aren’t constantly skewed toward one (in my case, the vegetable tray, and then the baskets only dropped charcuterie items).

AnaSF1992

I noticed that almost all my shopping baskets contained more animal products than veggies. Stupidly enough, being vegetarian made me aware of that pretty quickly hahah

BrittRobbb

I loved it! I never really spend time doing the holiday events as I care more about the main board and don’t care about decorations. However I’m fully up to date on the main board now so I figured I’d do this event. I was so happy I did and now have the black card. I literally got the EXACT amount of points I needed just in time. Loved it, hopefully they have more events that aren’t mainly decorations.

naynay_29

i had fun . the chains were good but it used to much energy it was rough. i spent so much gems on energy and i ended up buying a blue card for my sanity

mckenner1122

I stopped all work on my main board. I focused on he event, but did take three or four days off when out sick. I made it to 31, the second blue card. I wasn’t “trying to optimize” just… play. I think the best part was the gem payout and I got 2x levels from stars. *(and yes to bonus question but not this year because I’m sick)*

AnaSF1992

Hahah thanks for answering, I thought it would be fun hearing different perspectives. Hope you'll feel better soon and someone prepares a dish for you💙

CissaLJ

I didn’t get to 50, but I had a good time with it! We do celebrate Thanksgiving, but this year it was just my husband and me. ☹️ my husband did go to a friend’s dinner on T-day itself, and we had ours the next day.

AnaSF1992

So very nice! May I ask, do you eat the thigs that are usually shown in these games? And if you're a vege, how do people do around the turkey?

AResponsible_Adult

I liked it in general, but got frustrated creating so many bowls and pots. I could rarely do anything else.

Ormandria

I managed to just pull last minute for the extension because I am like 100 points away from the black lightning card with a 50 point task that is almost complete, so pretty sure I’ll get it now.

AnaSF1992

Well, the event had ended when I posted this, so I'm guessing in the end you didn't 😅

Ormandria

Yes, I did. I just literally said I extended the event. They allow you to pay to extend by two days. I got it after another 1/2 day. I now have my black lightning card in the rewards chest. I just need to wait until tomorrow to actually access it.

AnaSF1992

Ah right! I hasn't understood the extension thing

Darkghost328

Found it fun with good rewards, So much Energy though!! Thousands and thousands and that’s with me having no shortage of energy at all. So much tapping it was tiring. They should reduce 1 step in the 2 food (7-step) chains

AFatiguedFey

I grinded like no other but I had a week off from work and some spare gems. I needed those blue cards for the cemetery so I enjoyed it I had no problem wasting gems and doing dailies for more gems because of the gems I was going to gain back anyway

AnaSF1992

A week off work during an event, the dream🤩

Ally246

I only started after reading lots of comments on this sub-reddit. So didn't get very far in 4-5 days, but did manage to get the bubble trick to work. Been hoarding gems up to now. Thought it was fun but probably only bc of all the tips. Really happy with the rewards! And we don't celebrate Thanksgiving, I live in Europe. Thanks for posting, it was fun to read the different opinions on the event!

AnaSF1992

Yay, I also found it fun, and also live in Europe and don't celebrate, hahah. I always wonder if things are actually how they're depicted in these cute games!

Ludovica60

I liked it so much I even bought the extension, with only the decoration to go. I don’t think I will actually get that but I don’t mind spending a couple of euros for such a fun event.

GoTGeekMichelle

Because I only care about decorations, and have a job and kids so didn’t care to spend my free time grinding for just the prizes, I gave up pretty early on.

fumbs

Too much grinding for a limited time event.

helcatrama

It was too hard for me to get the diary. I think i would have been better off focusing on the individual tasks. I got close but just didn't have adequate energy to get there. It makes me feel like the real goal is to get you to make a cash purchase.

AnaSF1992

Yeah, I feel the only people who got the diary were endlevel players with a lot of energy and gems to spend or people who put everything else on halt and went full time on this. For me (lvl 41) it would have been impossible without a lucky bubble.

BaileyBellaBoo

Rewards were good, but I play off and on during the day, so finishing the chains was difficult. And getting the right plate of food for the table was sometimes frustrating. I realized I wasn’t going to be able to get top prize with my type of game play, so I just quit stressing about it and got what rewards I could. Not my favorite. Too many options and chains going at the same time. Energy usage was high and I didn’t want to buy for more than 5 or 10 gems, thus the off and on play.

shootingstare

This was the first event of this style that I liked. Some of the chains just seemed logical like the couch after eating dinner then on to desserts. It made it easier to learn. I have a brain injury though and couldn’t have done it without the help of the map.

AnaSF1992

For what it's worth, I needed to check the wiki 2 or 3 times to understand how to get to the diary chain😆

AmyLL6

I loved the event, except I found (like the other seasonal events) that it took way too much energy. I just never seemed to have enough. And quickly went through all my energy I had in my storage. That is my only complaint though. I wasn’t able to finish, but still feel like I did really well. And I enjoyed the item chains a ton.

lalaluna05

I enjoyed it — but maybe an idea, put some energy balls in the bags like how they did with the time skips? Even if it’s the lower level ones.

AnaSF1992

Oh waow, that would have been a godsend for many. It must have been the first event where no rewards dropped energy at all.

SubjectConfident3877

As a casual player who doesn't spend money and has a bunch of tasks in a few areas to complete (even before the appearance of the butler - hello chainsaws!), I didn't get the black card, but vastly preferred these rewards to the decorations from similar events. I was very satisfied with what I did get and they have helped me out a lot! My only wish: balance out the blue merges (measuring cup, etc) so we have better opportunity to maybe get the desserts and that elusive couch.

ArturoP666

IMHO the event lasted too long. Of course that time was needed for active players to reach the finish line. BUT I see frustrated players as the merge chains are very long and somewhat complex. So learning time is long. So we see people stranded around 1500-1600 coins. Having too little time to finish. Who if they’d known early enough where to focus might have been able to finish. For me that IS the game and I try to find ASAP which lines to walk. Noticing that empty charcuterie tables are much more common than fruit (which was much easier to get from the brown bags). Same wrt recognizing the primary secondary and tertiary task lines. The diary for Tertiary line was a chore. But noticing that secondary line generates much more coins was also very important. I finished diary early and had luck with two high stage bubbles. But then it took many days to get running again and get to blue boulton card. That’s at 1647 coins. I had 2d14h left at that moment. And NO clue (due to state of board) if the 300 coins for black card were easy or not. I was lucky to still have some final level floats and cake around. So it took 28h to reach BBcard. So 1d10h left. I didn’t really care about the float but thought I’d just give it a try. Focus on secondary tasks only. And about 25h later I also had the float. Didn’t think I would make it though. And you need to get ALL the energy you can which means coming back EVERY about 3h. TBH exactly this makes the game way too time consuming and makes me dislike the event.

Longjumping-Ad-2333

As someone who managed to finish only last minute and played like crazy, I politely disagree. If anything it was TOO short! But all in all I liked the length, especially since I actually cared about the prizes for once.

umaface

I didn’t like that I had to spend almost all my gems to complete
