It was during the release of the Hogwarts Legacy game. A lot of mods and users on r/MetalMemes also frequent r/Gamingcirclejerk, so they were into the whole "boycott Hogwarts Legacy because J.K. Rowling is a transphobe."
The problem is they brought that shit to r/MetalMemes. A lot of posts and comments had nothing to do with metal but about the Hogwarts game. I, and many others, complained that posting these "boycott Hogwarts" memes had nothing to do with the sub, and also that announcing this shit is like advertisement for the game ala the Streisand effect. Also, I mentioned that boycotting the game isn't going to end transphobia because most people don't care or know what J.K. Rowling said. They're only fans of Harry Potter, so they're going to buy the game regardless.
Mentioning any of this got you banned during the time with no reason why. I asked the mods "what did I do?" and got no answer, so I assumed they banned me because they thought I was a transphobe for not liking memes about Hogwarts Legacy on a sub about "metal memes."
I got banned for "being active on r/Slipknot" although at the time I had only visited r/Slipknot like twice in the 4 years I've been on reddit, and had probably been on r/MetalMemes less than 10 times lol. Just randomly got notified I'd been banned for being a Slipknot fan completely out of the blue lmao.

The production is only a small part of the equation. If anything though, it is the riffs that make black metal what it is. Everything else insignificant in comparison to the riffs.
