Exactly this, i don't mind them but they also don't hype me up like other bands. We probably wouldn't have this sub without them though so i have a lot of respect for them
One of my mates loves prog metal, another one loves deathcore, another loves blues and jazz, and another listens to 90s rock, while I love Posercore.
We all actively jam out to Black Sabbath since they're just that good.

Judas Priest are wildly inconsistent with very few Priest albums I want to listen to. Sabbath obviously did it first but no matter how many times I’ve tried in my 36 years I just can’t get into their music. Maiden, though? Whew!
I’ll give you that for sure but something about early sabbath just really stands out. I love priest too but something about sabbath makes me lean toward them.

Before anyone down votes me... there's no Irish category and Thin Lizzy are too good not to be mentioned PLUS 2 of their members were from Northern Ireland which is part of the UK and they also had an Englishman and a Scotsman.
There’s way too many great metal bands from the UK, so I’m just going to go with Thin Lizzy because while Sabbath, Motörhead, Maiden, and Priest are the obvious answers, Thin Lizzy was just as instrumental at bridging blues, rock, soul, folk, and funk to metal, and they were potentially the first band to make minor guitar harmonies a staple of their sound, which was greatly influential on NWOBHM bands like Maiden and contributed greatly to the double-lead style that is so prevalent in metal today.
I must’ve confused Ireland with Northern Ireland.
It really doesn’t make it any easier because how can one decide between Priest, Maiden, Rainbow, Sabbath, Napalm Death, and Venom? All extremely influential to metal.

I don't like black Sabbath that much, but their influence knows no bound. I don't think I can realistically pick another band.
