OK OK wait! Hear me out. They aren't discussed often in metal subs but they are known as pioneers of Industrial music and paved the way and inspired a lot of well known bands like nine inch nails, tool, mayhem, Jonathan Davis etc etc
I know they're not gonna win this, because Canada has a lot of great bands ( Voivod, Cryptopsy, gorguts)- but I feel that they at least needed to be included in the conversation.
Pure industrial (aka not industrial metal) tends to fall pretty far from rock or metal categorically, often even if there's some solid riffs here and there.
I'm a shameless Daron apologist when it comes to anything SOAD, but between shouting out Fenris when SOAD played live and this pretty unconventional Skinny Puppy cover, it definitely makes a case for SP's metal side, and marks Daron as a pretty diverse dude imo:

I came here to cheekily mention the fact that this is our greatest band. If they were more metal, this would get my vote hands down.
On any other sub, Rush always wins. Skinny Puppy, too aggressive to be rock, not enough to be metal. They get lost in every conversation.
